RV016 - Problem upgrading firmware

I've downloaded the file "RV0XX-v4.1.0.02-tm.bin" from Cisco's web site. The current firmware in the RV016 router is V3. I log into the router with IE9 (or even firefox), navigate to the system management section, upgrade firmware tab. Browse to the file above and click the button to upgrade. Nothing happens for a few seconds, then the browser displays cant load this page. (Same results if I use the file "RV0XX-v4.1.1.01-sp.bin" as well.) Any thoughts?
Many thanks! -- Curt

Hello Curtis,
The v4 firmware is for use with the v3 hardware of the RV016. You can verify this by checking the model number listed on the router itself. (it will be listed as RV016v3)

  • Problems upgrading firmware

I have a WRT54G. When I try to update the firmware, when I see the "Upgrade is successful. Rebooting......" screen, I click CONTINUE and it locks up and then eventually displays 'web page not found'.  Can I assume the upgrade took place? If not, how do I remedy this problem and get my firmware upgraded

Hey no you cannot assume that the firmware is upgraded on the router you need to open the setup page of the router & then check the firmware on the status if its latest you need not have to upgrade it is latest...if not latest then try resetting the router for 30 secs in such a way that power light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out
    it will definately work!!

  • Problems upgrading firmware with a WLSE

I'm having issues while trying to upgrade to 12.3(8)JA when pushing the image with our WLSE. My problem though is that the AP is taking the image, but in the process is wiping the config file. I'm having to push the image, then go reload the config I copied before starting the push. If I had only 4 or 5 APs to do, this wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, I have 43 more to do in a very short amount of time. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong or give me some advice on how to avoid having to go reload images to each AP?
Any help will be appreciated very much.
    Thanks,
    Gregg

    Hi Gregg,
    I was wondering what version you are upgrading from? If it is before 12.3(4)JA you might be running into this problem;
If the access points have SSIDs configured at the interface level (rather than at the global level), before upgrading to Cisco IOS Release 12.3(8)JA and later, upgrade to Cisco IOS Release 12.3(4)JA, save the configurations and then upgrade to Release 12.3(8)JA or later. This procedure must be followed to make sure that the SSID configurations are converted from the interface level to global level.

  • Problems upgrading from OS 8.1 to OS 9.2.2

Thank you for any help you can give me.
I have some additional problems upgrading from OS 8.1 to OS 9.2.2.
    1. The keyboard is typing symbols, not normal letters. When I go to Key Caps it shows symbols and not normal letters. When I was running OS 8.1 the keyboard typed fine.
    2. I also am have trouble with windows closing as I open new windows. Everytime I click to open a new folder the old folder closes.
    3. Copying files. When I drag a file it makes a new copy on the desktop.
How did I goof up going from OS 8.1 directly to OS 9.2.2?
All these problems were fine while running under OS 8.1.
I believe this computer came with OS.8.6 installed on it but I got it with OS 8.1.
Any help you can pass on to me would be greatly appreciated.
I am typing this on my Dell PC.
    Thanks a million,
    Jim

Easy, I just insert my OS 8.1 System Software into the tray loading CD and choose it as the start up disk in the control panel. I restart the computer and it is running off of OS 8.1 instead on OS 9.2.2. I looked for another keyboard today at a used computer store but they didn't have one for the iMac. I need to find one as all my research indicates that it is somehow connected to the option key. But then again everything works fine under OS 8.1. Quite a puzzle to me. Again thanks for the page tip on Firmware. Jim - PS, I did pick up a zip drive that connects to USB ports.

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

  • How to downgrade Timecapsule 7.6.4 to 7.6.1... I have no button "Upgrade Firmware" on the latest release of rhe Airport utility

With a TC 2nd generation, I have problem with Wifi dropping down after few days.
I'm running 7.6.4 firmware and it looks that people having same problems have fixed it with downgrading to 7.6.1
On the latest Airport utility (running on my MacOSX maverick), I could find any button (or menu) to upgrade firmware (or choose to downgrade to a previous version)
Has anybody an idea to force this downgrade?
    Many thanks for your help!
    Best
    Marc

    It is a hidden option.
Click on the TC in the airport utility.. then in the summary screen..
Click on the version with the option key held down.. all the other firmware available show up.. select one..

  • Can't Upgrade Firmware in Officejet 8000 Wireless Printer

I've been using this HP 8000 Officejet wirelss with a single usb connection without any issues at all. I set up a two computer wireless network with this printer also being wireless several days ago. No issues at all with the setup. The printer worked fine with test prints, etc. After several hours though I found the printer would loose connection as far as being able to print. It shows up as an avaialble printer, but will not print. A complete powerdown of the printer is necessary to get it working again. This would happen about every 2 to 3 hours. So I tried connecting the printer to the router with an ethernet cable. The problem is not as frequent now, but still happens. The firmware of this printer is 0842BR. There is a firmware upgrade for this particular printer which is supposed to fix issues with network connectivity plus a few other things. I cannot get this firmware upgrade to work with either Windows XP or Windows 7. In XP I get the error message: Firmware Download Utility has encountered a problem and needs to close. In Windows 7 if I just run the file, it extracts to about 47% and then just disappears. If I try to run it in compatibility mode, it says there is a problem with the file.
Can anyone please help me with getting the firmware upgraded, or does anyone have any suggesting on getting this printer to work reliabily on a network. I havee another Officejet Pro 8000 wireless at home on my home wireless network and it works perfectly. It has different firmware though. Thank you for your help!

I had similar problems trying to install the firmware from two different PC's running Windows 7-32-bit and Windows 7-64 bit.
I had an older system with a clean install of Windows XP SP3 that this Printer had never been connected to.
I downloaded and installed the latest "Basic" Printer Driver as well as the Firmware Upgrade to that PC.
I powered off the printer and disconnected and reconnected the AC power supply to assure a clean power up state.
I left the USB cable disconnected until the driver installation directed me to connect it.
I installed the "Basic" Driver for USB connectivity. I initially had connectvity problems trying to "talk to" the printer but switching to a different USB Cable solved that problem.
After all the above, the Firmware install went as described in the HP description.
The printer now reports the upgraded Firmware Version of "1006BR"
I hope my experience helps you with your firmware install.

  • E71 Backup/Restore problem after firmware update

after i restore the data using the PC suite, I'm facing a connectivity problem, No MMS and web browsing are working, even after i re-install the settings from the provider and setup wizard, same thing, even the wireless connectivity is not working.
note that they are working be4 i do the restore (plain phone).
    any recommendation.
It's never too late to learn ....

I upgraded my firmware (why do nokia call it 'software'?), which i kind of regret now. I don't see any difference to my phone, plus i hit a major problem.
Before upgrading i backed-up my phone.
After upgrading firmware i tried to restore the backup to my phone - wouldn't work!?!?!?!?! - plus the phone said that i had a massive error and had to take my phone back to retailer. it would not restart.
    Seriously crazy
    FIX:
'Hard-reset' the phone (erases memory and takes you back to basic nokia phone software) -  While turning the phone on you hold down 3 buttons: " green-phone & 3 & * ". Hold down for about 10 sec's. The phone should start working again with the new firmware - albeit with only basic settings.
Go to the backup-restore, and restore from your last backup.
         HOWEVER, UNTICK 'phone settings'.
This should get almost everything back for you (calendar, contacts, etc), except for any software that you had previously downloaded and installed on your phone (e.g. google maps, fring, skype, youtube, etc). Easy enough to download & install again. Also, you might want to ring your phone company and get them to mms you the configuration settings for internet and mms again.
WHY WAS THERE A PROBLEM? I believe that the old settings of the previous firmware are NOT compatible with the new firmware. This makes the phone effectively stop working when you restore the backup.

  • Extreme problem. Firmware update Yes or No ?

For years I have successfully run a small home business network comprised of a range
of Desktops, IMacs, MacBooks and MBPros.  OSX has been upgraded to 10.6.8.
I have a recording studio serving media outlets and depend on business grade speeds
for data upload/speed.  I also have a couple of machines that need - and are effectively set up for -
Port Mapping - which is required for a proprietary device for sending/receiving full bandwidth audio.
ISP is Charter - I am on a reasonably high-speed plan and modem speeds are within normal specs
in testing with a machine connected directly to the network - taking the router out of the equation.
We've noticed on multiple machines, a sudden, and significant slowdown across the board in
wi-fi responsiveness and internet access speeds.  I've done the gamut of diagnostic tests -
DW, Disk Genie, Disk defragmentation, Virus etc. to rule out any OS errors...  shut off any file-sharing.
Still, browsers - various versions - Safari and Firefox mostly - open, navigate and resolve pages
slowly.   I've adjusted the channel selection from Automatic to a dedicated channel (11) as we now
have another network within range for the first time ever - on a Belkin router - operating on channel 6.
Connections on my network are using all Ethernet ports and wireless.  Location of the unit has been good
for years - Central to all machines.  Speeds have been optimal until recently and no new interference sources
have been added to the building.
Now my question. Would I benefit from a hardware - and/or - firmware upgrade as a possible correction
to the problem?  Speeds were markedly faster on Panther with the Airport Extreme/1st Generation base
station that is being used.  I have deliberately held the firmware at Version 7.4.2 in light of scores of posts
here and elsewhere suggesting that newer firmware upgrades "broke" one thing or another ... or caused
random drop-outs, signal strength issues, etc etc etc.
So can someone as of this date 'bottom line' it for me and advise whether i am throttling my speed by
staying on the older version 7.4.2. or would upgrading firmware NOT invite or potentially create problems.
I gather it's hard to 'turn back' if I upgrade.  Secondly, any potential improvement by buying into a newer
base station.   Third, could this still be a modem issue where a newer model from ISP could change the
    circumstances.
Thanks and i welcome any advice or questions,
    Sincerely,
    MikeS

    MIKEinMICH wrote:
So that being said you're suggesting that it would do no harm to upgrade firmware but that isn't necessarily
going to address the issue i'm having at all, correct?
Correct. Unlike most other Apple products you can always downgrade an AirPort Extreme's firmware if you find justification for doing so, but start with the latest firmware.
Re: removing all the third-party diagnostic 'stuff' ...  i guess that's a separate post but presumably you're
suggesting that just having elements of any of those programs could be slowing the OS down.
Yes. Installing any third party utilities that modify OS X introduces an entirely separate category of unknowns. It's not clear what such utilities may have modified your system but "DW, Disk Genie, Disk defragmentation, Virus etc." is too broad to interpret as anything other than third party system modifications that will complicate troubleshooting at best, and are very likely to be the cause of the problems you describe.
To uninstall them you must refer to their respective manufacturer's instructions.
Rebuilding directories, if required, should be accomplished with Disk Utility. If Disk Utility cannot repair a disk, other utilities may be able to, but they should be used strictly for purposes of mounting a volume to recover data that has not already been lost. Such "repairs" are 1. always temporary in nature, and 2. cannot recover data that is already lost. Recurring disk corruption is a symptom that the disk should be replaced.
