RV042 - route some IP addresses to WAN2

My Linksys RV042 is in Smart Link Backup mode, WAN1 beeing the primary interface.
I want certain part of my network, IP addresses 192.168.10.128 - 192.168.10.159, to use WAN2 all the time, so that WAN2 is utilized. How to add route to do that? Please help.

Well this is a toughy. Since we cannot define our IP rules with that kind of precession on the RV042 we really can't do that. Now here is a screenshot of something that may work. I say "MAY" as in a real big maybe! The thing is, we can't create a rule that says "send this LAN to this WAN"; otherwise, you probably would not even be asking.
I think if we deny traffic from the WAN to your IPs they should respond back to that particular interface, but there is a small catch. Since our two options on the RV042 is either "Smart Link" or "Load Balance" we are stuck in a little pickle. This is because the client (LAN) is usually the one to initiate the connection and the router will Load Balance and IT will decide which WAN port to go out on. So, my little idea may not work. I am not at work at the momment so I cant take a look at a RV, but I do beleive with the latest firwares we can do protocol bindings and from there we can split traffic.
Anyway, what we need to battle with is "Load Balancing" and we need to place rules that will work in this mode. Let me know if this helps, or maybe someone else will step in with a better idea.

  • MacBook Pro Can't Find RV Park Router's IP Address

I was using the RV park's wifi, which does not require a password.  Now my MBP won't connect because it can't find the router's IP address.  I used IP Scanner and found the IP address.  Is there some way I can "tell" my MBP what the IP address is?  I know SSID, IP, ftp prot and domain port.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Robert Martin7,
open the Network pane of System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner is locked, click on it (and provide the appropriate password) to unlock it. Select Wi-Fi on the left-hand side, and press the “Advanced…” button. Select the Wi-Fi tab, where it shows a list of Preferred Networks. Press the “+” button, enter their SSID in the Network Name textbox, and set Security to None. When it’s in the list, select it, then click on the TCP/IP tab and enter its IP address information (if it doesn’t use DHCP) by first setting the Configure IPv4 dropdown to “Manually”. When you’ve finished entering its information, press the OK button in the lower-right corner, relock the padlock in the lower-left corner if desired, and try selecting their network in the Network Name dropdown to see if you can now use their wi-fi.

  • How to get router's IP Address programmatically?

While on my computer, behind the router Verizon router, I need to know my the router's IP address, so I can ssh into my box from remote hosts.
When I subscribed to cable, and had a Linksys router as my main gateway at 192.168.1.1, I could log into it programmatically (using Perl LWP) and parse out the WAN IP address.
But with the ridiculous Verizon setup, their login screen is jam-packed with silly Javascript that changes the number of characters on the screen as you type, etc (all of which have been covered in these forums), and I cannot figure out what the heck it is doing.  Logging into the router manually works fine.  But I need to be able to do so programmatically.
(Or is there some other way to obtain my router's WAN IP address from my local system?)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    -Mike
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Couldn't you just setup a dynamic dns name from dyndns.org (or one of the other providers) and set that up in the router's dynamic dns setup.  That way you could always use a FQDN instead of an ip address.  The router will also keey dyndns.org updated with you curring WAN ipaddress.
If you want to do something progamatically you could access a website like http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and parse its response.

  • SG300 inter-VLAN routing and MAC address changes in incoming packets

    Hello
    I have SG300-20 working in Layer3 mode
    VLAN1 is not used
    Internet gateway is in VLAN211
    Clients are in other VLANs
Switch is default gateway for clients and itself has internet gateway as default route.
MAC address of switch is XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:63
When client sends trafic to Internet destination MAC address in outgoing packets is XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:63
But in incoming packets source MAC address is XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:69
Why does it change? And how can I setup switch to use only XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:63 MAC address?

    Hi Robert,
I'd like to pick up this old thread because we have a huge problem with the behavior of the SG300 router/switch regarding the "spoofed" MAC source addresses. We have connected this switch to another router which has some special routing capabilities. It routes certain IP packets directly to MAC addresses which it learned from snooping on special traffic.
When connected to a SG300 router with an Ethernet base address of XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:48 we receive packets with Ethernet source addresses like e. g. XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:49 or XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:4D (depending on which hardware port they came from). Our special router "learns" these MAC addresses and tries to send associated outgoing packets directly to these addresses using e. g. XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:49 as the MAC destination address.
Our problem is that the SG300 does not forward the packet if the MAC destination address is not equal to the switch's Ethernet base address (XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:48 in our case). This renders the SG300 series useless for our systems.
Is there new firmware available which fixes this problem for us? We don't care which MAC source address the SG300 uses in incoming packets we receive, but we expect that the SG300 handles packets correctly for outgoing packets we send with this MAC address as the destination address.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Issue in Configuring Linksys RV042 router

    Hi,
I am facing some issues in configuring the Linksys RV042 router with dual WAN configuration. We are having two internet connection and I want to perform the "Load balancing" between the two internet connections. I have followed the RV042 manual and configured the router.
But while using the Linksys RV042 for load balancing the "Outlook 2007" and "MSN" are frequently disconnecting in the client machines. We could not use the Linksys RV042 router because of this issue.
We are using the "Static IP" for the two internet connection and configured with manual. We are facing issue only in "Outlook" and "MSN" but I can browse the sites without any issues.
Is there any configurtaions needed? Please help us to get the solution in this issue.
If you need any more details please mail me @ [email protected]
    Thanks in Advance,
    R. Manikandan.

    R. Manikandan,
Without knowing more about your configuration, and the reason for "Outlook" and "MSN" disconnecting.  I would suggest that you look at the following documentation for setting up "Dual WAN" on the RV042.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9923/products_qanda_item09186a0080a36632.shtml
It sounds like you may need to setup "Protocol Bindings" for your SMTP traffic to be directed out a specific WAN port.
If you continue to have issues, please let us know.

  • My router's IP address

    Hello,
recently i've changed my internet provider and i had to change some settings of my router. I tried to change the ip address of router so that i could access my provider's ftp, but i can't gain access to my router anymore. I try to enter 192.168.1.1, which doesn't work as well as one which i changed it to. Can I somehow look up my current router's IP address? Also, I think I've lost CD which was coming with router and I think it could be helpful for me, can I somehow have the same information that was on this CD?
    p.s. model is wrt54g
    Thank you.

Some older addresses that sync from Outlook no longer showup on my ipad and iphone.  Data is in Outlook and in Icloud contacts.  Any suggestions?  Some of the newer addresses seem to sync but the older ones (family) addresses are not.  The data is showing up in Outlook and in icloud but doesn't show up in my contacts after a sync.

  • Apple Mail - Load images for some email addresses automatically

Is it possible in Apple Mail to put some email addresses on a white list so that the images within their emails always load?
I don't want all images to load for every email I get, but I find it an annoyance to have to often load images from contacts I already trust.

AppleScript to the rescue!  Thank you Linc Davis!!!
Still find it strange Apple doesn't have this built into the Mail interface as an option and have to run a script [grumble].

Just got my Mac air and i would like to make a file to store some web addresses for my new business with rodan and fields and I can't do it. Made the file but i cant copy and paste the web addresses in the file to save them. Please help and thank you.

Yes - well you have to make the file in a word processing Application.
You could use TextEdit (it's free) Pages (words only), or Numbers (data base) (they are part of iWorks - and may or may not be free (included) on your machine.  You could use MS Office (it is not free) You could use any Open source word processor that plays well with Office (NeoOffice, StarOffice) they are free.
That's how you create content and copy/paste URLS. Then you save the file to the desktop. If you are going to make more than one file... you make a folder on the desktop and save, or drag the file(s) into it.
You attach it to your e-mail client which will compress it and e-mail it. An excellent reference is to use Help, from the menu bar, also from inside any application. From your library or book store the OS X for Dummies has a lot of useful information (you don't read it cover to cover but look up chapters about what you'd like to do)
You can also make appointments at your local Apple store for individualized help (if a store is nearby)

I am never surprised by Verizon's marketing shenanigans, but everyone in my cul-de-sac is running a VZ WiFi router, so the signal is always bogged down. I just want to get this new router and see if it helps with my service.
I will try again today, if I can get someone on the phone.
I'll keep you posted.  No contact from either here or {edited for privacy} Verizon Executive Relations Team, who emailed me yesterday.  I just checked my call log in  DV and my cell, and no missed calls.
In my now daily check of offers, today was 75/75 for $10 and a new router.  I clicked it, and unlike your experience, it did offer it to me for only $10 more for 2 years.  As tempting as it was to do it for another free router I resisted, waiting to see how this is resolved.
I will wait till later today to see if anyone reaches out before going further.

  • Restart of RV042 Router

Can anyone answer this for me please?  Would I lose my router settings if I were to restart the RV042 router from the System Management>Restart section of the router UI?
The "restart" command is just like a warm reset, correct???
    Thanks,

    Max,
You are correct. Restarting should not affect the configuration.

    Hello,
We have recently purchased Ring Central IP  Phones and are having audio issues.  We have a RV042 router with two WAN  connections.  We called Ring Central Tech support and were told that IP  Phones will not work with the RV042 while loading balancing is enabled.   Has anyone ever successfully setup IP Phones with a RV042 router while  having loading balancing enabled?  I configured the port range that the IP Phone use to be bound to WAN 1 but still having problems.  Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forum!
There has been no end to the "Quick VPN not connecting" threads here on the forum, and there can be a number of factors that will cause QVPN to fail. It has gotten to the point where a fellow engineer has created a thread just for Quick VPN issues to try and keep everything contained in one place. It may be prudent to post your question in his thread that you can find at the link below.
    QVPN Thread
However, if you would like to continue the discussion here in your own thread I would suggest the first thing you do is post at what point during the connection process does QVPN fail? For troubleshooting purposes go into the directory that you have QVPN installed which for most people will be Program Files>Cisco Small Business> and go into the Quick VPN Client folder. In this folder you will find a log.txt file. If you can post the output from this file (and please edit out your network information) then we might have a better idea why the connection is failing for you.
