RV082 Router and Gateway?

Is there a way with the RV082 to configure routable IPs as additional subnets on the LAN site and have the device route to these from WAN to LAN in gateway mode?  It obivously works fine in router mode but then private IPs don't function.
I have a server that requires a full public IP for SIP trunking (on a secondary NIC).  I've tried 1-1 NAT and I get unexpected behavior like loss of call control anf one way audio.
I was thinking this could be accomplished by directly editing the routing table but with the public entry configured the table looks accurate automatically but doesn't route.
For now I have an RVS4000 behind the RV082 and have the RV082 in router mode with my block of IPs.  I want to simplify the setup and see noticable speed increases when the RVS4000 is out of the equation.

Thank you all for your help. I appreciate your answers.
I want to mention something I discovered that I did not pick up from the documentation. When setting up my Vonage telephone adapter for a static IP address, I thought I had to configure the adapter as well as the RV082. It turns out that I could leave the Vonage TA in DHCP mode and still enter an IP address (on the RV082 in load balancing mode) for a given mac address. This had the effect of reserving that IP address and assigning it to the Vonage TA every time it comes on line. Then I could use that IP address to select which WAN to use and what priority or speed. Very cool...   :-)

  • SPA 3102 Voice router and gateway

Hello,  I was told to get this device but i do not know what is does and I did not find information on the Linksys website about its purpose.    I am setting up a desktop PC as a webserver thru a cable conection that does not have a static IP.     My understanding is that this device will cause it to behave like a static IP.   Is this correct?
I followed the instructions to connected it but I don't know how to fine the "DNS" numbers to imput into the field
I am running Windows Vista Home edition as the OS.   The server will run a voice response system.
    Any suggestions.

First of all, you can get the information for the device on this site.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10027/
This unit is part of Cisco-Linksys Small Business Voice Gateways and ATAS.
By the way, static IP has nothing to do with the SPA3102. If ever you'd like to setup a
webserver, it requires you to set a static IP on the server itself (IP of the PC) and at least a
Static IP for your WAN connection. WAN Static IP will be provided by your ISP and you need
to subscribe that IP from them.If in case your server requires you to open a port number for
the Server then that's the time you forward it to the router.

  • Help with a new RV082 Router

    Greetings all,
I hope this is the correct place to post my request for help.
I just installed a new RV082 Router and I can access the internet without any problems.
We have a security camera at 192.168.1.28 on the LAN side.  This works just fine on the LAN side but cannot be accessed from remote machines trying to log into the camera remotely.
The camera can be access on port 2782 without any problems using my Linux based Smoothwall router by going to any web browser such as Firefox or IE8 by keying in: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:2782 and the camera’s web interface comes up allowing a user to login by keying in their id and password.
I’ve tried for a few hours now to change firewall setting but I still can’t get this to allow anyone to login remotely.
The Smoothwall router allows me to setup a pass through in the firewall by creating the follow entry:
    Protocol                                  TCP
    External Source IP                ALL
    Source Port                           2782
    Destination IP                        192.168.1.28
    Destination Port                    2782
    This works without any problems.
Can anyone help be configure the RV082 in order to gain access to the camera?
Any help will be appreciated.  This is now driving me crazy.
    Thanks

    Hi Howard,
To forward the port in the RV082, go to Setup-> Forwarding. Click the Service Management and create a new service for port 2782 (i.e. Service Name IPCam, Protocol TCP, Port Range 2782 to 2782, Add to list, Save Setting) Go back to Forwarding and select the new Service from the drop down list. Enter the IP address of the camera and check the Enable box. Add to list and Save Settings at the bottom of the page. Please let us know if this works or if you need further assistance.

  • WRT54GC Operation Mode: Router Or Gateway

The WRT54GC has two modes: Router and Gateway. What is the difference?
I'm trying to do the following and I'm not sure what mode I need for that
                                      /-->LAN1 (192.168.1.*)
    2WireModem/Router
                                      \-->WRT54GC-->LAN2 (192.168.2.*)
Note 1: LAN1 and LAN2 have different IP ranges.
Note 2: I tried router mode connecting the WAN port of the WRT54GC to a LAN port on the 2WireModem. The 2WireModem then complained that there is another router behind it. Why does it care?

As indicated in the graph I have changed the IP of the WRT54GC to 192.168.2.1. But what mode do I have to set it (router or gateway) to allow two separate LANs?
Also, the computers connected to the WRT54GC need to have internet access through router 1. Somebody told me I need a static IP for this. Is that correct?
    Thanks

  • Verizon quantum gateway router and 2 Xbox ones nat type open?

Hello, so Verizon sent me there new router quantum gateway, I have 2 Xbox ones. Upnp is enabled and I have both xbox ones set to static ip. I have one xbox in dmz and the other xbox has all the ports forwarded udp 88, 3074, 53, 500, 3544, 4500, tcp 3074, 53, 80. Both Xbox ones in settings / network show nat type open but in call of duty advanced warfare multiplayer/ xboxlive screen. what ever Xbox one turns on first says nat type open and the other says moderate. Hopefully someone here can help cause I can't find any information anywhere and Verizon technical support has no clue
    Thanks in advanced

Hi you need to do two things
Step 1: You have to program the router with port forwarding rules for your xbox one specifically
See instructions here Network Settings on Xbox One - Xbox Support
Step 2: You have to program the router with port forwarding rules for your CoD AW
see instructions here: ports used for Call of Duty games.
if you're not terribly familiar with port forwarding, then there are some good guides online including some youtube video's.
You might not technically find a whole lot on the quantum gateway router specifically, but its identical programming as compared to the Actiontec REV I router
This site has the specific ports that the xbox wants

  • Introduce second default gateway into policy-based routing and optimization

    Questions:
    1) How to get the second PBR_DEFAULT_GATEWAY address 10.20.20.3 into the policy-based routing for redundancy?
    2) Any optimizations as more and more traffic (policy-based routed and otherwise) goes through interface Gi1/0/1?
Address range A.B.0.0/16 represents assigned Internet-routable addresses.
    Network also uses 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/20, 192.168.0.0/16.
DEFAULT_GATEWAY router participates in OSPF and injects the default routes 0.0.0.0/0 10.10.10.1 and 0.0.0.0/0 10.20.20.1 into OSPF.
PBR_DEFAULT_GATEWAY router participates in OSPF but filters out default routes injected by DEFAULT_GATEWAY router.
ROUTER_A participates in OSPF and receives default routes injected by DEFAULT_GATEWAY router.
ROUTER_A contains the attached policy-routing configuration that allows the subnet A.B.30.0/24 to route anywhere on the network and uses PBR_DEFAULT_GATEWAY as the way out.

Ok I will see if I can run out to work and try this today..
After thinking about this, If I need to get to local ip addresses (192.168.1.0 and 192.168.128.0), I might have to change my route map to include those ranges in an ACL, then assign the 172.20.200.1 as the gateway to get to those networks, with the last statement being the traffic to be sent out the firewall
    for instance
    # Access to one of my local networks
    access-list 101 permit ip 172.20.200.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
    # Send Internet traffic to ASA/PIX
    access-list 172 permit ip 172.20.200.0 0.0.0.255 any
    route-map pix-172-20-200 permit 10
    match ip address 101
    set ip next-hop 172.20.200.1
    route-map pix-172-20-200 permit 20
    match ip address 172
    set ip next-hop 172.20.200.2
    and so on?
I know I need to be in front of my switch to test the change from set ip default next-hop to set ip next-hop...
I wantto make sure I can still get to the local networks I need to get to.
I appreciate all your help, and I will test this later on today..
    Thanks

  • Require to configure CUCM and Gateway router PRI for 200 users

    Hi all,
My current scenario is like this:
We have two CUCM servers(7.1) in reduandancy. One is publisher and other is subscriber. We have a gateway router 2921 with a single PRI card. We have 200 IP Phone users. Currently the problem is we have only 30 telephone lines. So with the help of DID configuration. We assign thirty ports to thirty users. Now these thirty users are able to to make an outbound call and recieve an Inbound call. Now I also want to create a pattern in which we dedicate 10 channaels for other 120 users to make an outbound call. And restrict 50 users to not make an outbound call. So we require such a scenario.
    Total 200 Users:
    1. First 30 users. Able to make an outbound call and also able to recieve an inbound call.
    2.  Next 120 Users. Able to make an outbound call. But not able to recieve an inbound call because of PRI restriction. Because we only have a thirty numbers. Dedicate 10 channels for them.
    3. Last 50 users. Not able to make an outbound call. And also not able to recieve an Inbound call.
So I need a configurations of Gateway router and PRI. And also of CUCM in which we could define such a pattern.
    Regards,
    Ali Raza

    Ali,
The outbound call restrictions can be implemented using the CUCM Calling Search Space configurations.  A basic example to illustrate:
Partition 1:  internal_pt   (only internal patterns)
Partition 2: phones_pt (ip phones on your network)
    Partition 3: pstn_pt (off net patterns/external)
    CSS1: Offnet_css
    internal_pt
    phones_pt
    pstn_pt
    CSS2: Onnet_css
    internal_pt
    phones_pt
You place all patterns that can reach off net in "pstn_pt". Phones that are using CSS2 cannot reach off net.  The above example is leveraging the device CSS for all call routing decisions.Using this approach, you would assign "onnet_css" to phones that can only dial internally. NOTE: I am just using a basic example here and not suggesting you use this PT/CSS config "as is".
There is another approach where you "allow" all patterns on a device and "restrict" on the line. For example:
Partition 1:  internal_pt   (only internal patterns)
Partition 2: phones_pt (ip phones on your network)
    Partition 3: pstn_pt (off net patterns/external)
Partition 4: block-pstn_pt (blocking patterns for pstn)
    CSS1: AllPhones_css
    internal_pt
    phones_pt
    pstn_pt
    CSS2: restrict-pstn_css
    block-pstn_pt
Again, pstn_pt contains all pstn patterns.  The block-pstn_pt would also contain off net patterns. The difference is that in the block-pstn_pt all patterns would have the "Block this pattern" flag enabled. All phones would have a Device Level CSS of AllPhones_css.  Phone lines where you wanted to restrict off net dialing would have a Line Level CSS of restrict-pstn_css.
Just a quick refresher, when a phone LINE goes off hook to dial the CUCM is using the "Line Level CSS" + "Device Level CSS" to make the routing decision.  So, assume Line 1 on Phone A has restrict-pstn_css and the phone Device Level CSS is AllPhones_CSS. The Effective Search Space is:
    1. block-pstn_pt
    2. internal_pt
    3. phones_pt
    4. pstn_pt
So, if we assume that block-pstn_pt contains patterns that override patterns in pstn_pt then you can effectively block off net access to Phone A, Line 1.
Why would this be a good approach?  Well, what if you had a need to restrict Line 1 on Phone A but allow Line 2 on Phone A.  Using line level restrictions is much more flexible. Especially if you have more than 2 options you need to consider.
As far as inbound restrictions. If a phone line doesn't have a DID then you have achieved your objective.
The part I can't answer is reserving 10 specific channels for one group of users. I do not believe this is possible.
    HTH.

  • Can I use Extreme with Time Capsule to extend my gateway router and still use Capsule as "external HD"?

Bought Airport Extreme with Time Capsule version 7.7.2 with 2 Terabytes Feb 2014. It was probably an expensive mistake, but after searching for weeks for a external hard drive, it seemed reasonably priced to just use the capsule as my external hard drive for the price I paid. Spend an hour with Apple Care to get it working-had to use ethernet cord to my iMac OS 10.8.5 processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5. I did not "need" the airport as we have a Winstream SAGEMCOM modem/router (Sagemfast 1704) But, I was desperate and about to lose my old external hard drive with literally had 3 computers worth of information on it. It had already "died" once, but got it back, so once I got the airport/capsule and was told I just paid for an expensive HD, I had no time to take it back to get something else-I had to transfer my info right then. We (Apple Care) could not get it to work as a HD wirelessly. It may be because it was being set up for the first time; I don't know. I was hoping I would get a transcript of all done so I could do it myself if needed later on, but when I looked at my email-they didn't do that. (Don't know if that is normal, I was used to other "techs" sending the email.) So now I really want to try to move my airport and "extend" our wifi as it said on the "box" that you could do...
Our Windstream router had to be placed in the lower level at the bottom of our stairs. The stairway is "open" (no door going down the steps). I want to place the Extreme at the top of the stairs so that we can use some things in our offices or not have Netflix on our TV lose connectivity when we all are on our computers.
I know I need an ethernet cord to connect directly with the modem/router to the Airport Extreme.  I don't know what I will need to do after I connect it as it was so goofy when we set it up the first time (With the app it would disappear and not show up..) But my biggest concern is will I be able to still use the capsule as my hard drive and will I be able to do it wirelessly? (Even with it connected by ethernet, every day I have to re-connect to it before I can click on anything on the hard drive. It never shows up on it's own as my old HD did. That drives me nuts.) I do back up using the Time Capsule feature as well. I appreciate any help.

I am still willing to plug in the ethernet cord to the modem/router and try it IF I was able to get a step by step instructions..
Connecting the Time Capsule (TC) to the existing Winstream by Ethernet would be the basis for a roaming type network. This type of network allows you to basically "roam" with a wireless client and connect to either router. This, in essence, would provide you with an "extended" wireless network. The Apple routers can work with just about any manufacturers' routers in this fashion.
The keys to having a successful roaming network are as follows:
The routers must be interconnected by Ethernet.
Both routers will broadcast their own Wi-Fi network, but MUST use the same Network Name (or SSID), wireless security type (WPA or WPA2), and wireless password.
The TC MUST be reconfigured as a bridge.
Connect a single Ethernet cable between one of the Winstream's LAN ports and the WAN (circle of dots) port on the TC.
    The basic steps are:
    Power-down the Winstream.
Perform a "factory default" reset on the TC. Leave the TC powered-down after the reset has completed.
Connect the TC to the Winstream using an Ethernet cable.
Power-up the Winstream. Wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it to initialize.
Power-up the TC. Wait at least 5 minutes to allow it to initialize. (Note: Since we just reset the TC it will be performing as a wireless router that will be broadcasting an unsecured Wi-Fi network with a Network Name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN)
Connect your computer to the Winstream's Wi-Fi network.
Run the AirPort Utility. select the TC, and then, select Edit.
    Go to the Network tab.
Change the Router Mode option to: Off (Bridge Mode)
    Select the Wireless tab.
Verify that the Network Mode option is set to: Create a wireless network
For Wireless Network Name, enter the Wi-Fi network name used by the Winstream.
For Wireless Security, select the equivalent security type that is used by the Winstream. (Note: Use "WPA/WPA2 Personal" if the Winstream is using WPA/TKIP. Use "WPA2 Personal" is the Winstream is using WPA2/AES.
For Wireless Password, enter the same password used by the Winstream.
Select Update and allow the TC to restart.
As far as your external HD, yes you should still be able to use it as before.

  • Thomson gateway router and airplay

    Hi all,
I have recently purchased the B&W Zeppelin Air & while the sound is fantastic (for what it is...audiophile might disagree), I am having issues with it staying connected to the network. While playing a playlists using Airplay it will all of a sudden drop the connect (often mid-song). No error message appears when I'm using my iPhone or iPad but one does appear when using my iMac telling me in essence to power off than on my wireless router. I do this and it reconnects (at least temporarily). I believe this to be a problem starting with my Thomson router (and not my mac or stereo) as I can only use Home Share periodically as well (sometimes it shows up on my iPhone or iPad, other (most) time is doesn't).
I guess my question is, can I change any setting on my router to hopefully solve this problem or is it even a problem with my router? I have read that one needs to make changes to their network when hooking up game systems, do I need to make the same changes?
I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a new router (the Zeppelin Air cost me enough as it is).
Thanks for any help one might be able to provide.
    Cheers,

  • RV082 router stopping any communication on Dell Powerconnect 5424 switch

    All,
I have a RV082 router that is currently in prod. I have a  Dell Powerconnect 5424 switch that I'd like to use in place of the  unmanaged switches I am currently using.
I have the switch  configured with it's IP, subnet, gateway, etc. I can plug devices into  it and communicate with no problems. However, when I attempt to plug in  the router, nothign will communicate to or from the switch. The devices I  plugged in will not talk to each outer, ping the switch, or the router.  Also cannot ping to the switch from a device plugged into the router.
If I unplug the router, comm opens back up.
Can anyone help or offer suggestions? I've posted about this on Dell's forums too.

Hi Chris, when connecting the router to the switch does a link light indicate functionality on the router or switch? Is the dell switch a managed switch? Is the dell switch a layer 3 switch? Does the dell switch have any vlans?
Do you have a wireless adapter enabled on the computer you're testing with when you integrate the router?

  • Rv082 Router

I have a Rv082 router that works great and I added a Cisco wireless Wap4410n to one of the ports and it works great for all my wireless connections. My problem is I cannot set up any security on the wireless connection. I see it on network majic pro but cannot access it thru my router . Do I have to install a poe switch first

    Hi Marty,
The UVerse gateway does have wifi enabled, but a different SSID and password than what I use behind the RV082, so this can only be joined intentionally.
Also, I only have one subset on the RV082 LAN (the UVerse LAN has a different address range as well for its LAN).
Problem is that this seems to only happen to certain devices - I've run Microsoft's Network Monitor and checked for rogue DHCPs and nothing on the PCs anyway, but some of my network cameras and new "smart" CE devices only seem to be happy with static DHCP. I don't know if these are doing some IPv6 tunelling, or something like that that is messing them up (I do not have IPv6 enabled on my LAN). The rogue DHCP assigment was IPv4 though and matched the UVerse LAN (and this device didn't have wireless anyway), so I'm kind of at a loss.

  • Vlan's on RV082 Router

Hello, I'm having some troubles to configure vlan's on my RV082 Router. I have a Windows server with Active Directory, so I installed it on VLAN 1, but any other PC's out of VLAN 1 can't reach it, for example VLAN 2, 3 etc. So How must I to configure te VLAN's to get visibility from the server on all VLAN's? If I don't do this, all PC's can't login on Active Direcory Domain.
I hope someone can help me
    Thanks
    Regards

With this router it has the option of multiple subnets.  Under the setup tab there is an option for enable multiple subnets.  You can create the 10.0.0.1 subnet in this setting and the router will act as a gateway for that subnet.  However the router will not give out dhcp for that subnet, so you will need to either do static ip addresses or get a dhcp server for that second subnet.  Then you will need to create 2 acl's one denying all traffic from the 192.168.1.x network to the 10.0.0.x network and the other denying all traffic from the 10.0.0.x to the 192.168.1.x network.  This will give you multiple subnets on the router and keep them separate from each other.  Finally on the port you are plugging the second switch that has the second subnet in the rv082, you can go to port management and set a port based vlan for that port as added separation.  I hope this will help you out.

  • Default static route and Null 0

    Hi Everyone,
Need to clear some doubts  for below setup
Switch 3550A is connected to Internet Router and has OSPF nei relationship with it.

Now i can not ping to internet as below
    3550A#ping 4.2.2.2
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 4.2.2.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
When we ping from Switch then source IP is always the Outside interface IP right?
So in this case Switch is using which IP as source?
Ping to internet is not working as default network is set to 192.168.1.0 and all request goes to this IP and then it goes to
    Null interface right?
Extended ping works fine as below
    3550A#ping

    Repeat count [5]:
    Datagram size [100]:

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 4.2.2.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 192.168.5.2
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 76/79/80 ms
Second thing to confirm is this ping works because 192.168.5.2 is directly connected to Internet Router interface?
    Regards
    MAhesh

    Hi Mahesh,
When we ping from Switch then source IP is always the Outside interface IP right?
That is correct.  By default it is always the outgoing interface on the device unless you specify it differently.
Ping to internet is not working as default network is set to 192.168.1.0 and all request goes to this IP and then it goes to
    Null interface right?
That is correct. Null0 can't be used as next-hop.
Second thing to confirm is this ping works because 192.168.5.2 is directly connected to Internet Router interface?
No, that is because 192.168.5.0/30 is NATed. Remember 192.168.x.x address is a private segment and cannot access the Internet unless NAT is used.

  • How do I configure my AirPort Extreme as a wireless access point?  My cable modem goes to a router, and one of those ports goes to my AirPortExtreme.

I am about to hook up my airport extreme.  My cable modem goes into a router, and one of those ports will supply my airport extreme.  I was told by the Apple Store that I would need to configure my airport extreme as a wirreless access point.  How do I do this?

With sbcgobal I got a Gateway 2wire modem. What I would like to know is how do I set up my APE as remote?
Unfortunately, you won't be able to do this as few non-AirPort routers will work with AirPorts in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS).

    % Password expiration warning.
Cisco Configuration Professional (Cisco CP) is installed on this device
and it provides the default username "cisco" for  one-time use. If you have
already used the username "cisco" to login to the router and your IOS image
supports the "one-time" user option, then this username has already expired.
You will not be able to login to the router with this username after you exit
    this session.
It is strongly suggested that you create a new username with a privilege level
of 15 using the following command.
    username <myuser> privilege 15 secret 0 <mypassword>
Replace <myuser> and <mypassword> with the username and password you
    want to use.

Cisco Configuration Professional (Cisco CP) is installed on this device.
This feature requires the one-time use of the username "cisco" with the
password "cisco". These default credentials have a privilege level of 15.
YOU MUST USE CISCO CP or the CISCO IOS CLI TO CHANGE THESE
    PUBLICLY-KNOWN CREDENTIALS
Here are the Cisco IOS commands.
    username <myuser>  privilege 15 secret 0 <mypassword>
    no username cisco
Replace <myuser> and <mypassword> with the username and password you want
    to use.
IF YOU DO NOT CHANGE THE PUBLICLY-KNOWN CREDENTIALS, YOU WILL
NOT BE ABLE TO LOG INTO THE DEVICE AGAIN AFTER YOU HAVE LOGGED OFF.
For more information about Cisco CP please follow the instructions in the
QUICK START GUIDE for your router or go to http://www.cisco.com/go/ciscocp
