RV120W Admin Question - Large-Scale Scale Deployment

Hello:
I've been demoing the RV120W for consideration of deploying these for a 'large-scale SOHO deployment', possibly hundreds of sites. While I'm not a big fan of the fact that there is no CLI, only a web interface, the RV120W does appear to do all the functionality that I need it to do on a basic level. However, since there is no CLI, is there a way to mange these for a large-scale deployment? For example, is there a way to backup configurations over the network, or a way to perform configuration changes to all the routers at once, on an automated level, such as CiscoWorks, or some other tool? I have not found or read about anything that would be suitable for this router. . .

There are not any tools for a mass deployment. About as far as it goes is make a 'master config' load to each router then tweak the unique attributes. I think in all matters, it will be a cumbersome process.

  • SQL 2008 R2 Setup Scale out deployment issue

    Hi All.
Just trying to add a new server to an existing SSRS installation in the form of scale out deployment, the installation is done the instance names called the same and now on the new server, within the scale out deployment section, I can see its status as
joined. On the old originals server, it doesn’t show the new server as joined.
    When I run the command RSKeyMgmt.exe –l
    I get the message
Unable to locate the Report Server Windows service for instance MSSQLSERVER.
When I go to the server i.e the new one and try navigate to the reports section. I get this error.
The permissions granted to user XXXXX are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)
On the Report manager Section within Reporting services configuration manager, when I goto the link it simply prompts me with a username/password prompt and it never works even after supplying the correct credentials.
It appears as though I set it up such that it joined the scale out deployment before backing up the encryption keys from the existing server and then restoring it onto the new one. What I am now trying to do is delete the new server entry and start the process
again to restore the encryption key and then only join the scale out deployment.
The issue here is that RSKeyMgmt.exe –l isn’t showing that the server is registered.

    Hi MrfLinstone,
According to your description, you get the above error when navigate to reports. Right?
Based on the error message, you may not assign the permission to the current use for accessing the target report server. So please follow the steps below to create a system-level role assignment.
If necessary, log on as a local administrator.
Open a browser window and type the Report Manager URL to start the application. For example http://<server name>/reportserver
Click Site Settings at the top of the page.
Click the Security tab at the side of the page. This page shows all system-level role assignments that are currently defined. On a new report server installation, only the two predefined roles, System Administrator and System User, are visible.
There is one built-in role assignment that is created automatically; it maps the built-in local administrators group to the System Administrator role
    Click New Role Assignment.
In Group or user name, specify a domain group account that includes all of the users who require permissions to view report server content and subscribe to reports. Specify the account in this format:
domain\group. The account should be in the same domain or in a trusted domain. If you do not have a domain group that fits this description, you can specify individual domain user accounts instead.
    Select System User.
    Click OK.
    Click New Role Assignment again.
In Group or user name, type the name of a domain user account for a user who has administrative responsibilities for this report server. Specify the account in this format:
domain\user. The account should be in the same domain as the report server or in a trusted domain.
    Select System Administrator.
    Click OK.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • SQL Server 2012 - reporting services - scale-out-deployment

I am facing an issue which is related to a scale out deployment. I am deploying a FIM reporting based on System Center and I have 2 sql servers in this scenario.
Now the problem is that Reporting services configuration manager (from sql1) says that the scale out deployment has been established. Sql1 is joined and sql2 is waiting to join. I don't know why the servers has been appeared under the scale out deployment
because I don't want to create the scale out deployment.
So how can I remove the scale out deployment without breaking anything?
Also if I look at the Reporting services configuration manager from sql2 the scale out deployment panel is empty like it should be.

    Hi 2xTsei,
According to your description, two report server instances have been configured to a scale-out deployment, while you haven’t performed this configuration.
In Reporting Services, a report server scale-out deployment is two or more report server instances that share a single report server database. To finish this configuration, we should use Reporting Services Configuration tool to connect to each report server
to the shared database and join a new report server instance. So the scale-out deployment shouldn’t be configured automatically. It’s likely that someone has configured this deployment who can access those two instances.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
That is a little bit weird because I am 100% sure that we didn't manually configured scale out deployment. I need to inspect this more.

  • What does "Scale out deployment (Web Farms)" mean for SP2013 and SQL 2012 SSRS?

    Dear community,
    in the
Feature List of Reporting Services 2012, it's written that "Scale out deployment (Web farms)" is not possible for SQL 2012 Standard edition. However, does this relate as well to SSRS in SP-integrated mode, or only to native mode?
In other words: is it possible to deploy SSRS using SQL 2012 STANDARD on more than one server in a SP2013 farm?
And just to be sure: am I right to assume that in both cases, you can create multiple SSRS Svc Applications (be they all running on the same server) and assign them to different web applications (through their proxy groups)?
    Cheers,
    C

    Hi CHinz,
According to your description, you want to configure scale-out deployment for SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 standard edition. Right?
As you can see in the msdn liabrary, for SQL Server 2012, scale-out deployment is only supported in Enterprise and Business Intelligence editions. This is related to both native mode and sharepoint integrated mode.
It's not supported to deploy a SSRS 2012 standard edition instance on more than one server.
Since scale-out deployment is for different report server instance to share one report server database. You can use different web applications to access the same report in different report server instances.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • SSRS in SharePoint Mode: Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services [not true]

    Hello,
We are experiencing some issues with SharePoint 2013 which is driving me insane.
We have a deployment with two SQL Servers (HA groups) and four SharePoint servers: 2 Application servers, and 2 Web FrontEnd servers.
We installed SSRS for SharePoint in both application servers. The disc I have used is the MSDN image of SQL Enterprise 2012 w/ SP2.
    ISO name: en_sql_server_2012_enterprise_edition_with_service_pack_2_x64_dvd_4685849.iso
    MD5: 003e14c55fa648ad15f8be1e2439bd06
The installation completes without any problems. We can start the SSRS SharePoint Service in the first application server without any issues. However when we try to start the second one, we get the following error:
Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. This edition only supports one instance of the sql reporting services service in the farm. The SQL Server Reporting Services cannot be started on
this server unless it is stopped on all other servers in the farm.
Now I am at a loss here. As I mentioned, we have used an image of SQL Server Enterprise. This is the same image we used on other environment, which worked as expected (we got no such error).
I have included the text related to the correlation error from the SP logs below.
Has anyone ever seen this issue before? Very, very strange!

    P.

    Hi Wynn,
I appreciate your attempt to address my concerns, but even your reply seems to ignore the fact that I have not only provided the name of the ISO, but the MD5 checksum of the ISO as well. Also this is the first time I am being asked to double-check the version
of SSRS. The first reply I got to my query simply disregarded the version mismatch.
As per your request, I have checked under the folder you have specified (C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\WebServices\LogFiles), but unfortunately there are no files under this folder in neither of my two application

    We only have logfiles under C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
Is there a way I can turn those logs on?

  • SQL blocking during removal of report server from Scale-out-Deployment

I recently removed a 2012 reporting service instance from the Reporting Service Scale-out-Deployment. After I removed the server, there was a lot of blocking  on the report DB for about 30 minutes. My report DB is on the same SQL instance as
my TFS databases and the blocking caused web access for TFS and Visual Studio connections to fail during check-out/check-in.
Should I expect blocking to happen every time I remove a report server out of the Scale-out-Deployment?
    Thanks,
    KA

    Hi KA,
I am trying to involve someone more familiar with this topic for a further look at this issue. Sometime delay might be expected from the job transferring. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

  • SQL 2012 SP1 Enterprise (SSRS in SharePoint mode): Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services

    Hello,
SSRS in SharePoint mode is driving me insane.
We are recreating a SharePoint 2013 (SP1) farm in a test environment with the following set-up:
    2 SP Web FrontEnds
    2 SP Application Servers
    1 SQL Server
At both SP APP Servers, we installed SSRS (SQL 2012 Enterprise w/ SP1) in SP integrated mode.
We managed to start the SSRS SP service at the first SP APP Server. However when we try to start it on the second APP Server, we get the following error:
"Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. This edition only supports one instance of the SQL Server Reporting Services Service in the farm.  The SQL Server Reporting Services service cannot
be started on this server unless it is stopped on all other servers in the farm. "
Now I can't stress this enough: This is a SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise. This is the image we got from our MSDN subscription. There is no mistake here.
Could someone please advise why SP might think this version of SSRS is not the correct one?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hello,
I'm afraid that is not it.
After a long, frustrating and strenuous investigation and troubleshooting, we found the problem.
The problem is the current ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP1 (x64) found at MSDN. Bear in mind that we downloaded this ISO from MSDN about a month ago.
As soon as we recreated the environment using the ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP2 (x64) found at MSDN, everything worked as expected -- and that includes running more than one SSRS in SharePoint mode.
Also bear in mind that we tried updating the SQL SP1 install with SP2 and subsequent cumulative updates but that never fixed the problem.
There is something fundamentally wrong with that ISO with SP1 slipstreamed in it that no matter the subsequent updates installed, SSRS in SharePoint mode fails to work properly on a multi-server environment. We went as far as SP2 with CU3 and nothing seemed
to fix the problem. And yes, we also performed manual updates to the SSRS and PowerPivot SharePoint MSI add-ins.
I am shocked and distraught to find out that I lost hours of work due to a dodgy ISO image.

  • Scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of reporting services

Can the "scale-out deployment" option be turned off so that I can migrate SSRS databases from Enterprise edition to Standard?  After I attached databases from a SSRS 2005 Enterprise to SSRS 2012 Standard I am getting an error about
scale-out deployment not supported.  Any way around this so I can migrate the databases, bringing the reports and report subscriptions to the new SSRS instance?
    Lee Markum

    Hi Lee,
    From the
document, we can know that Scale out deployment is a feature that only supported in Enterprise and Business Intelligence editions in SQL Server 2012.
In order to fix this issue, we can refer to the similar thread post by Ben:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/8eebf25f-2c40-40d3-9bb7-bb481fdafc12/is-this-a-scaleout-deployment-?forum=sqlreportingservices
    Hope this helps.

  • Basic question - how do you deploy a Logic app as SaaS?

This is partially a broader question of how you deploy SaaS solutions on Azure, but wanting to know in relation to logic apps.
So let's say I wish to create, for sake of argument, a service that allows contractors to log their hours (either via a phone or through their laptops)
Each contractor is a separate client of mine, and I wish to develop an SaaS service that I can sell to hundreds of contractors.
What is the blueprint for such a solution?
    Is it:
    - I create a web app to give me a web based interface they can use
    - A mobile app in which they can enter their data by mobile
    - A logic app to take data from both of these and process and store them into a SQL Server database
And if so, would the only thing separating one contractor from the other be their logins? Or is there way of instantiating separate databases for each user (let's say I wanted to give each client their own database)? Just trying to get my head round how
SaaS solutions would work. Any tutorials/good reads most welcome!

Actually I came across a few articles talking about Single tenant vs Multi tenant architectures and that's opened up a whole new world for me, exactly what I was looking for. Will read up a bit more on how logic apps work in a single vs. multi-tenant environment.

  • Question concerning Web Service Deployment

I have a question on web service deployment as it pertains to multi-client SAP systems.
I created and deployed a web service in the client that is used for the development of client-independent objects. There are no issues when calling the web service following deployment.
I am trying to use the same web service on the same SAP system, but on a different client. What is the proper way for accomplishing this? As of right now, the only way I've been able to do this is to open up the desired client and deploy the service again. I tried to take a transport and copy it to the other client using SCC1, but it failed since all the objects referred to client-independent objects.
Below is the URL of the WSDL that was generated via SOAMANAGER.
    http://svr-sap05-dev.xxx.com:8010/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_DF2B9EDC2EA40CF1A9B7001CC4459012/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=120
Client 120 is the client used for development and is where the web service was created and deployed. I would like to use the same web service, but in a different client.
I tried in changing the logon parameters of the web service using SICF, but the invocation failed. It only works if the client mentioned in the logon data matches the client specified in the URL.
I am assuming that SAP builds the namespace of the web service using the client specified in the above URL. If this is the case, then I will have no choice but to deploy this service manually in the other client.
Is something wrong being done or do I have to do the same deployment in the other client?
    Regards,
    Vince Castello

In Netweaver 7.01 (with SOAMANAGER) you can no longer deploy webservices via STMS.
You have to login in each client and create endpoints in each one.
It's a pain, but SAP says it's too risky to implement the solution via STMS or something like that.
There is a SAP note about this.

  • Typical/Common large-scale ACE deployment or designs?

I am deploying several ACE devices and GSS devices to facilitate redundancy and site load balancing at a couple of data centers.  Now that I have a bunch of experience with the ACE and GSS, are there typical or common ACE deployment methods?  Are there reference designs?  I have been looking, and haven't really found any.
Even if they are not Cisco 'official' methods, I'm wondering how most people, particularily those who deploy a lot of these or deploy them with large-scale systems, typically do it.
I'm using routed mode (not one-arm mode) and I'm wondering if most people use real server (in my case, web servers) with dual-NICs to support connectivity to back-end systems?  Or do people commonly just route it all through the ACE?
Also, how many VIPs and real servers have been deployed in a single ACE 4710 device?  I'm trying to deploy about 700 VIPs with about 1800 Real Servers providing content to those VIPs.
How do people configure VIPs, farms, and sticky?  I'm looking for how someone who wants to put a large ammount of VIPs and real servers into the ACE would succeed at doing it.  I have attempted to add a large number in the 'global' policy-map, but that uses too many PANs.
I have tried a few methods myself, and have run into the limit on Policy Action Nodes (PANs) in the ACE device.  Has anyone else hit this issue?  Any tips or tricks on how to use PANs more conservitively?
Any insight you can share would be appreciated.
    - Erik

As far as i can see from your requirements i suggest you create 1 ear file for your portal and 1 ear file per module.
The ear file from your portal is the main application and the ear files of your modules are shared libraries that contain the taskflows. These taskflows can be consumed in the portal application.
This way, you can easily deploy 1 module without needing to deploy the main application or the other application.
It also let you devide your team of developer so everybody can work on a sepperate module without interfering.
On a sidenote: when you have deployed your main application, and later you create a new module, than you have to register that module to your application so then you will need to redeploy your portal but if you update an existing module, you won't need to redeploy your portal.
As for the security, all your modules will inherit the security model of your portal application.

  • Best and most secure tracking option for large scale iPad deployment?

Hi, we are deploying iPads to hotel rooms on a large scale basis and need to find an appropriate solution to securely track them in case they are stolen.
We are actually considering Find my iPhone for its simplicity, but the 100 devices limit and also the fact it is relatively easy to disable poses a problem.
On the other spectrum there is AirWatch which is very expensive.
I was wondering if any other options are available for this?
    Best regards
    Florian

MobileIron Sentry iPad app, enterprise IT departments can track iPhones and iPads, view device inventory, block offending or compromised devices, and remotely wipe stolen, lost or compromised units. The application also enables remotely suspending email access for active staff, just-terminated employees, and others.
    Just read about it.

  • Question About Rating Scale (Likert)

I am building quiz survey slides where users answer survey
questions, and the results are compared against scores of top rated
users. In the process of building the slides, I am not seeing any
dialog box where I can enter the correct answer against the quiz
taker's, and when I test the quiz for results, the quiz taker is
always right. I see there is a review area box on the stage, and
when I double-click on it for its properties, there are options for
an incorrect answer where the right answer should be listed. How
come it doesn't pop up when I enter an incorrect answer in the
preview? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The rating scale can't support multiple selections per row. You would have to use the multiple choice field (though its not a table layout).
We do support multiple fields on one line now. This post explains:

  • CVI Question - X axis scale

I know this is a basic question but I am unable to figure it out. I
want to scale the x axis of a plot. I am using plot waveform and
printing out the spectrum of a signal. I wish to change the x axis from
cycles per second to cycles per minute but am unable to find a
solution. I have tried changeing the x increment property in the
PlotWaveform function call but this does not work. Am I correct with
the x axis increment property and just missing something or is there
    another way of doing this.

You can change the X scale
In the block diagram, creat "Property Node" of your plot , and then change
    the property to
    (X-scale--> Offset and Multiplier --> Multiplier ).
Then multiply the number you want.
Is it right answer in your question?

  • C drive seems abnormally large for the deployment (.WIM taking up all the space)

I just started using SCCM 2012 R2.  I've gotten everything setup to do my deployment but it turns out I clicked deploy on a .wim file I had and it filled up the C drive.  This is a virtual machine and I never intended to store the data on the C:\
drive.  But by following a install online it seems that the default DP puts it there.  My SCCMContentLib seems to grow uncontrollably and I can't figure out why.  At first I started with a 40GB vm.  Then moved it up to 60 to give me 20GB
of free space.  Next I noticed that my image wasn't getting sent via the client pc because of a error which tracked back to the operating system status being red.  This tracked to not enough space on the C:\ when I clicked the error.  I noticed
somehow this WIM file took up the 20GB I had given it extra.
My image is for a Dell Optiplex 3020.  The .wim file is 9GB in size on the file share.  Yet when I right click and check the properties under Operating System Images it shows as 22,083.82MB.  Which doesn't seem all that confusing understanding
that this is probably the extracted size?
So no problem I increased the drive size by 40GB again.  I then went to the operating system and right clicked and said distribute content.  But it didn't seem to turn yellow.  So I went to Task Sequences, Distribute content on the task sequence
that is set to push out that image, then went back to the OS and clicked distribute again.  This time it went Yellow.  I waited and waited then it failed out again.
Now when I check the C:\ drive it has 4GB or so free, and the status is red again with the error not enough space on the C:\ NTFS drive.  I have no idea how a 9GB .wim file can turn into 60GB of space eaten up?  What am I not understanding about
SCCM.  Just using WDS seemed like a much better solution as it didn't require a insane amount of space to push a single image.  I understand that SCCM has many other capabilities which is why I moved to it.  Yet this is not a acceptable solution
using up 60+GB for a single 10GB wim file to image a few machines.
There must be something wrong here and I am not doing correctly.

To answer the questions thus far.  I originally used WDS and the other program which escapes me MDT? I think to create the wim files on the old server.  In the file share there is the .wim and a language.ini file which WDS and MDT created when
making those images.  I just moved them to the new file share which has plenty of space.  This .wim file is a little over 9GB in size on the file share.
I right clicked the OS file and clicked Distribute, I didn't click deploy.  I then boot PXE on the computer and it runs the task sequence.  I had several images which failed to distribute due to file space.  I removed the content by going
to the DP and in the Content tab and clicked on each image and clicked remove.  It stated that it would remove the data for those but would not remove any data linked to other deployments I believe.
I deleted the OS as you said and it cleared up 60GB of space.  The next issue is I had to delete the task sequence as I could not longer find a place to edit which WIM it used.  Not sure if this is standard or if there is a place to edit this after
the fact when we have a issue such as this?
I wanted to next look into moving the software library to my file share if possible.  I see I can create a mapped drive and for example make it E:\.  I have read that you can use the Config Manager 2012 R2 Tools to move this.  However it looks
like it moves MUCH more than just the SCCMSoftwarelib folder.  I have read it required or maybe recommended that you keep the software lib and other folders on the base drive with NTFS.  Curious if mapping a share and moving all the files to the
file server I created to store the .wim files is recommended here and possible?
