Rv180 dropping LAN connections

I just recieved a new RV180 yesterday and it will not connect to my switch. Router was updated to the newest firmware, reset to factory settings. I did change the ip and ip range. Router works fine with one computer attached direct. As soon as I connect my sf300-24P to it, the WAN and LAN lights all light up and then go out. Only the WAN will light back up. I have no connectivity to the router. I plug the laptop to the router directly and no LAN lights come on and can not see the router with arp -a.
Thanks,
Walter

Greeat Idea! But I can`t return it. Router is working, no defects (expext worst firmware ever, realy, i`m waiting for new firmware about 2 month)
I searched Cisco forum and learned port forwarding has been an issue  with RV180 since it was released, and the latest firmware update did not  resolve the issue. The biggest issue is that port forwarding is not  flat-out broken, but inconsistent. In my case, of the 12 ports I need to  forward, it works for the standard services and custom UDP services,  but not all custom TCP services (I think this is the case, but who knows  what would happen if I try to forward more ports). The inter-vlan  routing issue probably don't get noticed often because more people have  it disabled to achieve network separation.

Hate it... I Have Cisco sertificate, that i`m good network administrator. I can create big networks in Cisco Packet Tracer, i spend 1/2 year of my life to learn all about simple networks cofiguration with theory and practice...
And i can`t forward ports from internet to my locat server with this router...
GUI is realy lagging. About 5 sec to load page and 2 min to reboot. Realy bad.

  • Wrt160n keeps dropping lan connection

For many months we have had a linksys wrt160n connected to a satellite modem with no problem. Nothing was changed or added to the computer or any peripheral. Recently, over the past month or so, the lan connection has been disconnecting intermittently, always reconnecting, but it is an extreme annoyance always disrupting whatever we are trying to accomplish on the internet. I researched Linksys forums, and other available sources for possible solutions. I have reset the router, reset the modem, changed suggested settings with no effective remedy. Thinking the router was no longer functoning properly, we replaced it with another Linksys wrt160n. It worked seamlessly for about 10 minutes, then continued with intermittent disconnecting of the lan. Any suggestions?

I agree with Klatch. If it happened on two routers already without any changes on the computers or on the network, it might be a problem with the modem. So try checking the connection of the modem first by connecting a computer straight to it. And if you experience this problem on only one computer, try to check the computer's Ethernet adapter as well, maybe it needs updating.
    hoping for the best!

I am new to this but I have a 512meg AMD 2700 with a seperate LAN card because I hoped It would work but no matter what I keep droping my LAn connection every 5-10 minutes.  I have seen others with this problem so I tried a different lan card to no avail

    Hi there,
With my KT4V the same problem here when i'm using the onboard NIC, with an other NIC card no probs.
I have 3 machines behind an Edimax router with a cable connection.

  • Touchsmart IQ526 Drops Lan connection

Checked with FAQ site, seems to be a common problem, but no one has an answer. I am running Windows 7 64bit.
I have another Touchsmart on the same Lan/Router/Modem and have zero problems. Have replaced IEEE cables for high tech/shielded cables, upgraded all software at least twice each. I suspect firmware issue, but hope for other options.
If you have similar issues, please respond. Thank You

Problem is resolved, went to Real Tek site, down loaded thier driver update tool for W/7. Ran the tool,
5 minutes later, problem gone. It has been 3 days without error, and internet is faster then ever.

  • LAN Connections Drop WRT150N

Purchased and installed last Wednesday. Wired and wireless LAN connections have dropped twice since then. Can't access 192.168.1.1 at all, for example.
EasyLink shows message "Different Network Detected". Attempting to use dialogs fails, however, since the router isn't responding.
If I unplug the router, wait, and the restore power, LAN connectivity is restored.
    Firmware is up-to-date.
I expect occasional situations like this, but the frequency is troublesome. Any suggestions?

I have just got this router yesterday. It did this right out of the box. After an hour or so the connection would just drop. For everything. Some other topic on this site suggested power surges for a similar problem. I moved my power supply to somewhere less crowded and have had continuous internet for about an hour now.
I'll let you know if it worked.

  • Wifi connection drops but LAN connection is fine

    A strange one.
I have both WiFi and LAN connections to my HH3 for different computers
The LAN connection is always fine - good speed, no drop-outs, etc
The WiFi connection however is a nightmare.  It works for a few hours and then the computer drops the internet connection.
It is not the WiFi connection to the HH3 as I can still get to the HH3 web page but any internet address gets a "DNS not found" error.
In this state, the LAN connection still works fine.  I can browse the Internet fine just not from a WiFi connection.
The only solution is to reset the HH3 fully (a disconnect/reconnect of the internet connection doesn't help)
    Any ideas?

    Hi there,
It sounds like you need to change the wireless channel on your HH3.
If you're on Windows then you're going to need inssider 2 or if you're using a Mac, then you'll need to download istumbler
Download whichever one of those is appropriate to your OS and do a scan for wireless networks close to you and you will be able to see which networks are operating on which channels and change to a less congested channel, if need be
    I hope this info helps

  • SRP521 Lan connections drop once wan is connected

I have had this issue on the last 3 srp521's I deployed, all were pulled from service and replaced with a different model.  Firmware is 1.1.24 and I also tried on with 1.1.27
With only power and 1 lan connection I start a ping to the router and a ping through it to the DG of the wan ip.  When I plug in the wan cable I get a single reply from the wan ip DG and then my lan connection drops.  I have to power cycle the router to get it to come back.  I have a static set on the WAN and am using 10.10.10.x on the lan side.  The link light on the router stays on for both lan and wan.
Any idea on what to look at?

    Hi Sage,
I'm not sure that I follow what you mean when you say the WAN goes down as soon as it is connected.  Could you provide more detail please?  Can you specify what address you are using for the WAN and LAN (with masks).
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by:
I plugged it into the its own switch and it went down as soon as connected

  • BT HUB5 Drops wireless & LAN connections 01/01/201...

    Hello
Wireless and LAN connections has been working perfectly fine when i first signed up to the complete BT package (broadband, phone,TV) in September 2014. During the beginning of January 2015 to now February 11/02/2015 my wireless connection drops out in the morning and evening multiple times 5am-7am at least 3 times in the morning and at least 5 times at night 6-12. This drop out also affects LAN connections even though the BT HUB 5 is still lit blue, there is no fault light, once or twice I seen the fault light.
I cannot not browse the internet and use Netflix’s etc because the wireless connection drops out regularly. I have spoken to BT’s Global Service Desk who reported there is a problem, however a UK call centre engineer confirms there is no problem and the issue lies with ‘Interference’ and their excuse was it was probably conflicting with other wireless devices which is total nonsense.
I have checked with my neighbours and they have not bought any new devices or changed anything which would conflict with wireless connections, including kitchen appliances. I also have followed BT advise and switch everything off and on again, reset the router back to default, they have reset their end, changed the wireless channel etc. still get the same issues.
Everything has been working fine up until January so something has changed on BT’s end to cause regular problems which affects LAN and Wireless connections. Many sources on the internet suggest firmware and line testing for faults like on their BT HUB5. BT suggest there are no problems and everything is working fine and they have no problems on their end. I’m still waiting for a solution from BT……?; an issue like this would have been resolved or never happened with SKY and Virgin fibre connections.
Please can someone help and adviise best practice to get my BT HUB5 working again properly or suggest what BT must do to pull there fingers out and take ownership of this issue. Many thanks.

Sorry to hijack someone else's thread but I seem to be experiencing exactly the same issue.
Service was installed around about Sept last year and has been fine until the last few weeks when the same wireless drops started to occur.  I have no new equipment connected, but all devices experience the problem.
Having looked at my HH5 version, I'm on the same:
    BT Home Hub 5 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 | Last updated 21/01/15
I noticed the update date of 21/1/15 which probably coincides with when the problem started, so I wondered if there might be a known issue with this software version?
    Thanks

  • LAN connection dropping in and out

I have a 2002 model linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router. Still works great and use it everyday. This has been going on for a while now but about every half hour or so I lose my LAN connection for about 1 second and then starts going again. Just wondering if anyone knows a fix for this problem and what might be causing it. Thanks for any tips.
    Mike

The first step that you try is that , Connect Modem-> PC (Without router). And see if the connection Stays stable .
If yes, then you can try to upgrade the firmware of the router.

  • Lan connectivity Issue on autonomous AP with throttles

              Hello,
I encounter a strange problem on several AP 1242 in version 12.4(25d)JA1 of a customer :
He has 10 autonomous AP covering a factory and is using them for laptop connectivity and TOIP with mainly 7921 Cisco Wifi Phones.
The phones are configured to use only 802.11a.
The APs loose LAN connectivity randomly and therefore the clients don't work anymore.
The AP are connected on a 2960 and a 3560 wich are in turn connected on a 3750 wich route the trafic.
After checking spanning-tree no loops are present.
When I check the counters on the AP involved I see the "trhottles" and "ignored" counters incrementing on the fa0 link of the AP impacted wich mean I think it can't handle the incoming traffic. This incoming traffic seems not to be too big however. I can see drops on the switch interface connecting the AP.
There is a lot of roaming on the AP due to people walking in the factory with their wifi phones.
Here is a view of the fa0 counters :

Does someone ever experienced a similar problem ?
When I shut radio interfaces they're is no more problems on the LAN. Can this be an overlapping coverage issue ?
Can someone please give me advices on how to troubleshoot this issue ?
Thank you in advance as I'm a bit stuck.
    Best Regards,

         Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your reply.
Do you think this can be the origin of the issue my customer encounters or is it only to be standard ? As this change will have to be made on all clients, if there is a chance it solves the problem I will do it ASAP, if not I will delay it in a less busy period :-)
Can the constant roaming associations and dissasociations overload the AP and make it stop responding on the LAN or is it only a throuhput problem ?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

  • Loop drops when connected wireless (NI 9191)

    Hi,
I cannot figure out why a NI cDAQ 9191 chassis has connection drops when connected wireless and works
    perfectly when connected thru LAN.
I wrote a little test VI to check the connection accuracy. The chassis has a NI 9375 I/O module plugged in.
A Moxa AWK3121 is used as wireles access point. What I do is check 5 digital inputs and control 3 digital outputs.
The outputs are continuously placed on/off at a different rate. I use an event loop and a main loopt that communicates
to the chassis at a loop rate of 10ms.
The chassis, laptop and Moxa A.P. are all close together on my desk. The Wifi signal is excellent.
Now, the code i written is probably not optimal.
But...  If I start with connecting the chassis with a LAN cable to my laptop, Wifi Disabled, Linked Local. The communication is perfect.
No drops between the loops and the real time.
No communication errors. Runtime was 52 minutes.
Second test. Connected the chassis to the Moxa A.P. with LAN cable. Laptop connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
Chassis still in Link Local. Ik can access the chassis in MAX. No problem.
When I run my test, I immediately see loop pauzes. After one minute there can be already a difference of 20 sec.
between calculated looptime and real time. Sometimes the active light on the chassis goes off and on.
When the active light is out, the loop is on hold. (Wich is normal as I assume the DAQ VI's are waiting for response.)
After appr.10 minutes the error -50405 "No Transfer in progress because transfer was aborted by client".
If I look at the timings there is already a difference of more then 5 minutes between the loop timing and the real time.
As last I tested with the chassis and the PC connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
I did not get the -50405 error, but again loop drops. After 10 minutes there was a shift of 2 minutes.
Has anyone experience with wireless connections with the NI 9191 chassis?
Can I change my code? Did I mis something? (I'm a newbie to Labview)
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Frankie.

I am not clear on whether you are connecting the two together "in it's own little network" (which implies "router" and not "AP") or if you are connecting to the LAN through the wireless device (in which case it is entirely appropriate to refer to the wireelss device as an "AP").  Your last post about hot spots is what confused me.
But as you said, the biggest worry is the active light.  Try using a different router/AP.  I've seen routers overheat and reset themselves before due to inadequate heat sinking.  i.e., Someone (not me, I swear!) dropped the AP and knocked the heat sink off the chip.
As for the delay, if you are indeed using the Moxa as an AP, are you sure you're connecting to your AP?  If you're connected to a hotspot instead, your throughput will be at least halved - and maybe even 1/4 bandwidth if your AP happens to have connected to a different hotspot than you did.  If you are using it as a router, try differnt bands or channels to see if you can get around any interference your company wireless network might be generating.
In general, conclude that wireless isn't the best way to connect test devices together.

  • Windows 8.1 Lock Screen drops network connectivity when screen locked using Win+L

    Hi!
I was sent here from Microsoft Community forum. The question is:
Since Windows NT 4.0 I'm using Lock Screen to prevent people from accessing my computer when I'm leaving my room. First I was using CTRL+ALT+DEL / Lock Screen, then switched to Win+L keyboard shortcut when it was first introduced.
Everything was fine until I switched to Windows 8.1 computer (Sony Vaio Duo 13 with Broadcom wireless network controller). This machine is 8.1, not 8.0 upgraded to 8.1.
My problem is that when I hit Win+L combo the Lock Screen (with clock etc.) is displayed. Then, despite I have configured not to turn off display, the screen goes blank (after 30 seconds since lock) and network connectivity is cut off from desktop
apps (I suspect the system goes into Active Standby mode, because Modern UI apps like Tune-In radio keep working fine).
    100% repeatable scenarios:
    ## Scenario 1 ##
    1) Log in
    2) Open desktop app that uses network connectivity. Outlook 2013 from Office365 subscription
    3) Check that it has connected
    4) Lock screen (Win+L)
    5) Wait for 30 seconds (first incorrectly posted as few minutes) as screen goes black
    6) Unlock screen (using password)
    7) In right corner of Outlook app you will see "Unable to connect with Exchange server" and few seconds later it will reconnect sucessfuly
    ## Scenario 2 - the more annoying ##
    1) Log in to Win 8.1 computer
    2) Connect to it using SMB (in my case I wanted to transfer 30 GB of files from local hard drive C: to server) \\COMPUTER-NAME\c$ from Windows Server 2012 R2
    3) Start copying files from computer to server
    4) Lock the screen on computer
    5) As soon as screen goes black server displays message "Lost connection to the resource. Try again?"
    6) Unlock screen on the computer
    7) Click "Try again" and it will continue copying files
My power settings are set to go into stand by after 5 hours and if I not lock the screen it doesn't go to sleep before 5 hours.
When I lock the screen using Win+L it goes into (probably Active) Standby mode.
Is there any way to prevent it from going to Active Standby when locking screen? I need the screen lock for security reasons but I don't want it to drop my network connectivity on remote desktops, file transfers and other desktop activities before 5 hour
    timeout.
This issue is not related to more or less known wireless network connectivity problem that happens to many Intel Haswell computers. Mine doesn't exhibit those problems. I can easly push 100 - 200 GB of wireless data without network drops.

    Best regards,
    Sergiusz

Same issue here using Surface 3 Pro with either internal WLAN or MS USB LAN Adapter. I'm frequently used to keep open connections over SSH to some servers. On switching to lock screen explicitly by pressing Win+L or implicitly due to idle timeout all
connections to servers are lost. In addition, I don't get any notifications on incoming Skype messages (using Skype for desktop) when lock screen is active.
Neither NIC is showing "Power Management Tab" according to step 5 of instructions above.
Additionally observing USB LAN NIC seems to be kept active after activating lock screen, but traffic stops (according to its flashing light) when lock screen is switching off display. Blanking display doesn't seem to be adjustable in System Settings (Energy
    Options accessed through Win+X).
Find attached log file of powercfg -energy -duration 300 ...
Log file is in German. It basically claims unset timeouts for deactivating display while running attached to power supply though lock screen is turning off displays within 1-2 minutes.

  • Dropping WiFi Connections after new Mac Min and Upgrade

First of all does anyone know why this discussion was archived when there was never a solution posted?
        https://discussions.apple.com/message/12586041?tstart=0#12586041
Secondly (why I found that thread among many others addressing the same problem). I received a new Mac Mini for XMas (cool, I needed it) which worked fine with my other computer and devices (2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 Win7 Laptops and 2 Win7 desktops) for a couple days, so I thought. Now all these devices got along very well until Mr. Mini comes along. Then I note wireless drops occasionally, it seemed to come back so I wasn't too upset, yet and decided to deal with it later and enjoy my vacation.
Now, after I allowed Leopard to do its upgrade (I had deferred that) I now have all the above devices dropping wifi and physical LAN connections as long as this Mini is powered on. I shut it off, Internet is blazing, I turn it on, Internet falters and screeches to a halt.
Since all my other devices have worked cooperatively for several years and this device comes along and crashed the party im pretty convinced its not my router or computers. I am not interested in trial and error here. i have many better more important things to do and this is Apples responsability to figure out. I am a very savy IT dude (career professional) and want to get to the bottom of this for everyone.
Soooo.... What changed? Why does this device kill my network when it is turned on (note, no alterations from out-of-the box to any network protocol or config.) and why does a thread (one of many) without a solution get trumped on by Apple?
    Apple?

How to Create & Burn a Bootable Mac OS X Lion Install DVD
    Summary
OS X Lion includes a new feature called Lion Recovery that includes all of the tools you need to reinstall Lion, repair your disk, and even restore from a Time Machine backup without the need for optical discs.
To redownload the installer on a computer running OS X Lion, press and hold the Option key while you click the Purchases tab. If the button to the right of the Install Mac OS X Lion item doesn't change to "Install" and allow you to download Lion, use Spotlight to search for "Install Mac OS X Lion" on your computer....

  • Urgent! T420 with N6205 keeps dropping wireless connection and cannot recover

    Hello everyone,
I bought my T420 model with N6205 network card last December, since then, the wireless connection never functions well. Here's the problem(it happens in my apartment):
Every once in a while (normally within four to five days), my wireless connection drops automatically. It would first appear as  no connection and it'll try to reconnect, then it appears as successful connected for 5 to 10 seconds(but definitely no internet access), and it'll drop the connection completely again, then automatically repeat :reconnect, drop, reconnect, drop ... never stops. Though I can still use cable to connect to my router to have internet access.
This problem occurs to none of my smartphones, ipad, ipod touch, my old laptop and my roomates' wireless devices under the same wirless environment. They always have solid wireless connection.
Of course, regular approaches have been taken trying to solve the problem:
    1. manually disable wireless functionality on my T420, and enable it again
    failed
    2. reboot computer
    failed
    3.  go to power manager and turn PCI express off
    failed
    4. uncheck allow the wireless LAN radio to be turned off when inactive
    failed
5.updated to the latest driver through lenovo
    failed
    6. restart router
    successful
So it may be that I've got a bad router? This is why I didn't post my problem in the first place, since I was hoping it may disappear with other routers.
I changed to a new router, the problem persists.
There's no way I can restart the router every time when my laptop looses connection, it'll affect the other users.
Based on the description of my problem, I believe there's a great chance there's something wrong with my T420 rather than with my router.
Is there anybody who can help me with this?
Can lenovo staff see this post?
Any suggestion about who I should turn to?
    Thanks a lot.

What security mode are you using.
WPA or WPA2? You could change the router to WPA only and see if that helps. I have see some portable devices that don't negotiate the protcol properly but never a notebook. If you have Bluetooth turn it off. It seems to affect my 1x1.
I have the 1x1 card and it pretty bad connecting at 24 to 48 Mbps only with a good signal. I don't know why Realtek is used in a Business class notebook. Maybe some others can add what they have and is working 100%.

  • HOME LAN CONNECTION PROBLEM

    HOME LAN CONNECTION PROBLEM
I set up a 2 unit home net with a Linksys WRT54G Router, One PC hardwired to Port 1 and a Notebook conected via the wireless port. Both PC are Pentium and WXPPRO.
When I try to browse the local workgroup ("MICASA") I get the following error message: "You have no access to "WorkGroup". You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The server list for this workgroup is not accessible at this moment."
Wireless has MAC filter enabled and security disabled
    I restricted DHCP adresses to only 2 => 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101
Win XP Pro Firewall is disabled in both PC
I worked as ADMIN with proper password in both boxes. Full file security enabled.
Shared both C disks with proper local and share permits.
In registry both PCs have: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa/"restrictanonimous"=0
I could see both PCs in "my network places" for a couple of days, with full and proper file sharing, and then both pc's dissapeared. Both PC's access internet properly.
The obnoxious message listed at the beginning began appearing when I click "Workgroup" in "my network places". I tried everything, including unsetting and re-setting file sharing for C disks. Nothing happens.
The W2K Resource Kit Browser Monitor reports no brouser on the LAN.
I can ping one adress from the other and I can log onto the other box shares by typing the name in Windows Explorer (\\Pentium or \\PCdeLidia)
    Any clue will be welcome

    Thank you, timelord.
I checked the Node setting (ipconfig /all) and it is "broadcast".
So, I decided to start all over again.
    1) I un-shared all shares in both computers (The notebook and the desktop).
    2) I reset the linksys router and used the Linksys setup wizard to reconfigure it from 0 (cero) - dropped (disabled)  ALL security - Left only admin setup password - Changed the workgroup SSID from "MyHome" To "Home" - just to be sure.
    3) Run network setup wizard in desktop (WXP Pro). Sharing Printers and files enabled.
    4) Stopped and Disabled the WXP firewall in the Desktop (it was disabled, but the network wizard enables it and leaves it running)
    5) Rebooted the Desktop
    6) At this point, I finally could browse the local lan and see my desktop listed
My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "Pentium" (my desktop)
    7) Went over to the notebook and re-checked all file-sharing was off, then I erased the WI-FI profile in it (uses the Intel wizard), changed the workgroup name from "My Home" to "Home", Rebooted it and connected it to the Wi-Fi "Home" net that was detected. ALL security disabled, including WXP Firewall.
    8) Now, the whole net is visible from both PC's
My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "Pentium" (my desktop)
My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "PCdeLidia" (my wife's  notebook)
    9) I enabled a couple of shares in both machines and I could browse them and connect to them
    10) Finally, all goes to hell: I shut-off both PCs and the LinkSys router. Then I powered the linksys, and then the Desktop. The notebook still OFF. And Voilá, same awful post:
"You have no access to "WorkGroup". You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The server list for this workgroup is not accessible at this moment."
I'm not even able to see myself.
One tip: I used the browser monitor from W2K. Before, I was able to see 3 (three) lines listed, no browser. Unfortunately, i did not write it down. Now I can see only the following 2 (two) lines:
MiCasa \Device\NetBT_TCPIP_ {€ unknown  (Not an Euro sign, something like that)
    MiCasa \Device\NwlnkNb         unknown
Now I have to quit, no more time, I'll continue later and keep you posted
    Thank you again
