RV220W and RV120W WDS / Bridge

Have been using an RV220W for over a year and now need to create a bridge.  Have wireless and wired clients in the same building but on the level above.  I cannot run a wire, which was my first choice but that is forbidden.  SInce there are wired clients, I wanted to create a bridge with the RV220W as the 'root'.  Tried this with an aironet 1231G but got nowhere (slowly).  Came across a post suggesting that one would have to have another RV220W's or RV120W, so I figured I'd give that a shot.
I've been trying to set up the RV120W but don't seem to be having any success.  Maybe this isn't really supported.
Both are using the latest firmware (1.0.4.17 for the RV220W and 1.0.5.6 for the RV120W) .  Both have the same 'Basic' settings in the wireless configuration section:
     2.4GHz
     G/N - Mixed
     20MHz
     Channel 6
Same SSID using WPA2 with same Encryption (AES) and Key.  Only one SSID.
Both have WDS enabled with the same WPA key (same as the SSID key).  Both have the other one set as a peer MAC in the WDS.
The RV120W has DHCP disabled, and has a fixed IP out of the DHCP range of the RV220W.  The RV120W cannot ping the RV220W and likewise with anything behind the RV120W.
Can't find much info on this, outside of how to enter the info on the config screens.  Can't figure out what to even look for in the logs...

1. Do a factory reset of your Airport Express to get it back into a known state per:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044
2. Make sure your Powerbook, Airport Extreme Base Station, and Airport Express are all - for now - in the same room.
3. With your Powerbook connected to the wireless network of the Airport Extreme Base Station (prove it by making sure you have internet access) run the Airport Admin Utility. We are going to have you clean up some settings on it first:
- make sure the Base Station is running firmware version 5.5.1. If it is running 5.6, post another message.
- under the Airport tab, make sure you have NOT checked the box to "create a closed network"
- under the Access Control tab, remove ALL table entries
- under the WDS tab, remove all entries and uncheck all boxes
Then update settings to the Airport Base Station.
4. Make sure you have the Airport 4.1 update installed on your Mac:

  • Use WAP4410N as combined AP and WDS Bridge

Can I use a couple of WAP4410N's as follows.
One unit configured as an AP, so that wireless devices can connect to it and a second configured as a WDS Bridge where I can hang a switch and a couple of wired devices in a room where ther is no hard wiring avaiable, but has direct line of sight to the AP.  These devices don't have wireless capabilities.
If not, what other options might be available for this scenario.
    Cheers.

After playing around with this, I think I have it working.  At least in a lab environment because (see my other post) it looks like only WEP security works.
In setting this up, it appears that in the AP mode, for Access Point, you have to set the check box to allow the signal to be repeated  (BTW, the manual has this 100% switched around, as it describes the check box as allowing *this* AP to act as a repeater).
However, once this checkbox is selected it looks like the AP can only be configured for a single SSID as in the Wireless Basic Settings screen, the remaining SSID fields are greyed out.  Is this in fact the case, or do I have something else configured wrongly, as yet again, there are no restrictions mentioned in the manual.
    Cheers.

  • WDS bridge not working

Based on the documentation and this message:
Saxphile, "Use AX as an Ethernet bridge and a WDS relay simutaneously" #2, 03:39pm Oct 10, 2005 CDT
I should be able to use an AEX in WDS mode to connect an ethernet device to my WLAN, using the the AEX as a bridge.
It's not working here. All theWDS settings seem fine. I can stream to the AEX and use it extend my WLAN. If I plug an ethernet cable into it, however, no joy. My iBook says there's nothing plugged in.
Could my AEX be defective? Anything I can do to bebug? I bought it a few weeks ago, so it's under warranty.

  • BPM correlation and Sync-Asyn Bridge....

Regarding Sync-Asyn ,I have gone thru these blogs...
Demonstrating Use of Synchronous-Asynchronous Bridge to Integrate Synchronous and Asynchronous systems using ccBPM in SAP Xi - Use of Synch - Asynch bridge in ccBPM
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/1403 [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] - Use of Synch - Asynch bridge in ccBPM
I am not able to do a end to end scenario...using this ....So could any one give me a step by step guide for the syn-asyn Bridge.
And also step by step for correlation...
Please help me in this regard....

    Hi,
    Defining Sync/Async Communication
To enable the communication between a synchronously calling business system (synchronous outbound interface) and an asynchronously called business system (asynchronous inbound and outbound interface), you can define a sync/async bridge in an integration process. You can only define one sync/async bridge for each integration process.
You can also achieve sync/async communication by using the JMS adapter. If you do not have any particular demand for monitoring or for troubleshooting, SAP recommends that you use sync/async communication in the JMS adapter instead. The advantage of using the JMS adapter over synch/async communication using an integration process is a significant increase in system performance.
See: Async/Sync and Sync/Async Bridge in JMS Adapter
    Structure of a Sync/Async Bridge
The following table outlines the minimum components of a sync/async bridge:
    Step
    Use
Receive step to open the sync/async bridge
Receives the message request from the synchronously calling business system and opens the sync/async bridge
    Asynchronous send step
Sends the received message asynchronously to the asynchronously called business system
    Receive step
Receives the message from the asynchronously called business system
Send step to close the sync/async bridge
Sends, for example, the response from the asynchronously called business system to the synchronously calling business system
    Performance Considerations
If you insert additional steps in the sync/async bridge, the synchronous time is increased correspondingly. If the time that elapses before the sync/async bridge is closed is too long, this can lead to problems.
    Fault Messages
It is currently not possible to send fault messages back to the synchronously calling business system. If you want to return error statuses to the synchronously calling business system, you can define a field for an error indicator in the message that is sent to the synchronous interface.
    Procedure
Define a Receive Step to Open the Sync/Async Bridge
           1.      Insert the receive step to open the sync/async bridge in the integration process.
You can do this at the following points:
    ○       Directly after the start marker
    ○       As the first step in a block if the block is the first step of the integration process and if it has the mode Standard
    ○       As the first step in a fork. If the fork already contains some starting receive steps, the Start Process indicator is automatically reset for these steps.
           2.      In the object area, define the container element that receives the synchronously sent message.
Specify an asynchronous, abstract interface in the container element. The message must correspond to the request message of the synchronous interface used to receive the message.
           3.      Select this container element in the Message field in the properties area of the receive step.
           4.      In the Mode field, select Open S/A Bridge.
           5.      Select the Start Process field.
The receive step to open the sync/async bridge must start the integration process. There must be no other receive steps to start the integration process.
           6.      Specify the synchronous interface for receiving the message from the synchronously calling business system. The message type of the message to be received and the request message from the synchronous interface must be identical.
    Define an Asynchronous Send Step
           7.      Insert a send step that sends the received message asynchronously to the asynchronously called business system.
See also: Sending Messages from Integration Processes Asynchronously
    Define a Receive Step
           8.      Insert a receive step that receives the message from the asynchronously called business system.
Define a Send Step to Close the Sync/Async Bridge
           9.      Insert the send step at the required position in the process definition.
Do not insert the send step in a loop, block, or fork.
       10.      In the Mode field, select Close S/A Bridge.
The integration process must not contain any further send steps to close a sync/async bridge.
       11.      In the Opened By field, specify the receive step that opened the sync/async bridge.
       12.      In the message field, specify the message that is sent to the synchronous interface.
This message must be of the same type as the response message from the synchronous interface that you specified in the opening receive step.
    Example
You can find an example of a sync/async bridge in the Integration Repository under SAP Basis à SAP Basis 6.40, namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns under BpmPatternSyncAsyncBridge.
For a description of the example, see Example: Sync/Async Communication.

  • Can't Drag and Drop from Bridge/Folders anymore. Trashing Preferences didn't work

My Indesign CS4 is acting up.
I can no longer drag and drop from Bridge into my layouts, nor does it work from my PC folders to the layout.
I tried accessing the two  preferences folder on my Vista as suggested here: http://indesignsecrets.com/rebuilding-indesign-preferences.php
That didn't work and I don't think the rebuilt worked because the files didn't recreate itself, I had to bring the copies back in.
Any idea what's going on and what to do?
    Thanks!!!

There are actually two files in the ID prefs set that usually need to be removed together when things act up. See Replace Your Preferences

  • 1300 Root-Bridge and Non-Root Bridge setup

I have two 1300s that I am trying to set up as Root Bridge and Non-Root Bridge, however, everytime i specify one of them as a Non-Root bridge, the radio0 interface becomes disabled. The only option that i am able to pick that enables the radio0 interface is "Access Point", which is what am trying to avoid it being.
Can anybody help me figure out how to go about this

A non-root's radio will show as disabled if it cannot find the root AP to associate to. Make sure you have "infrastructure-ssid" configured under the SSID on both the root and non-root bridges. Also depending on code versions you may have to configure the distance command under the radio interface on the root.

  • IView Media Pro erases adjustments and ratings in Bridge CS3 and Camera RAW 4.2

OUCH! I seem to have lost about a day's worth of work. I rated and adjusted my Canon cr2 RAW files using Bridge CS3 and ACR 4.2. Then I used iView Media Pro 3.1.3 to add keywords. When I opened the files back up in Bridge CS3, my ratings and adjustements were gone. Actually, when I open the sidecar files in a text editor, I can see the adjustments, but ACR and Bridge can't read them. Anyone else seeing this? If so, how do you fix it or work around it???

Have you tried purge cache for folder?
iView Media Pro is now Expression Media 1, maybe this 'upgrade' works for you.
You know that you can add keywords and sets in Bridge as well?

  • Basic basics of PP and its hijacking Bridge

I just got this program and looked at some tutorials, and some of the other things about getting started, overview, basics etc.   This is my first version.  Unlike with other programs that have manuals or built in help, I have been unable to find anything that starts at the very beginning, explaining what you see when you first look at the screen -panels, menus etc.  Everything immediately seems to assume you know all this already and goes to more advanced stuff.
Then my first experience after reading a tutorial and using the Bridge to open files was that when I next opened my CS4 Photoshop, it's Bridge had been replaced by a new one.  Clciking on any type of file would open PP, not Photoshop, despite that program being set as the default in both Bridge and Explorer. Camera Raw files could not be opened at all an batches would not run.
I called PP pro tech support and as they couldn't solve the problem. insisted that the Bridge was not a part of PP pro and transferred me to Photoshop tech who wanted to charge me $40 for helping.  I got a supervisor who also wanted to charge me and finally got him to remotely view that clicking on the Photoshop CS4. icon opened a Bridge that said CS5.  Then after some further exploration and closing the Bridge in task manager, was able to get back the original Bridge and said he would email the PP techs who didn't have a clue and should have provided the free support.
Still, if I use the PP Bridge it will hijack my Photoshop CS4 one and I will have to do this procedure every time.
So where can I go to start at the basics of explaining the PP screen panels, menus etc?

Thanks. I found the classroom in a book good for some very basic stuff on ripple and rolling effect and some of the workspace description.  I had already looked at some of the other Getting Started tutorial and they seemed to assume that one was already familiar with the panels.
The strange thing about the Classroom in a book was that it was hard to return to an earlier video to review as then only subsequent ones were presented.  I was never able to find the workspace one mentioned.  He talked about moving the tool panel but mine was not in the upper left as described and was a floating panel that I couldn't integrate with the others. After the 2 videos I watched, the next video had no sound and thus made no sense.
I reopened a saved video clip I'd worked on earlier in the day.
Then when I played the video I found that something had happened to it.  It was looping on about one beat of music and I had to extend it.  I don't know how that happened.  Also there are 2 white rectangles concentric within the edit window and I don't know how they got there.
I had changed the speed/duration to 70% when I saved it and now I find that I can't go back to 100%.  I thought I had made progress on some basic understanding but I don't know what's going on.
I had another project with just audio of a tabla player, because I like the ability to slow the tempo to better figure out what is going on.  After figuring out where a 12 beat measure looped, I thought I could move the selection to the next but with only audio I can't find a way.  And here if I change the speed the clip is shortened.  I thought I had read somewhere of how to avoid this but can't find it now.
Some help would be much appreciated.

Any ideas?  I probably have something wrong in my computer settings.

You should restore your modem to router condition and set the Airport Express to 'Bridge Mode'. A full explanation and the method of doing this is here:

  • Using WET610N and WRT320N as bridge within home network

Hi - I have a small home network, in which the DSL modem is some way away from the room in which I do my work. Currently, I use a pair of WAP54G access points to bridge between the two locations, and everything works OK, if slowly.
Today, I bought a WRT320N router and a WET610N bridge to replace the access points, but I having a real problem configuring them to work. I think the basic problem is with the IP addresses that they use. The current configuration is:
DSL Modem -> Access Point -- several yards -- Access Point -> PC
and I want to go to:
    DSL Modem -> WRT320N -- several yards -- WET610N -> PC
I guess my basic question is this a reasonable idea or should I be using something different for the WRT320N end? I don't want to change the basic IP address subnet (192.168.1.*) and I want to keep the DSL modem as the default gateway (192.168.1.254). When I installed the WRT320, it assigned itself an IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the WET610N an IP address of 192.168.0.101, and I think the DSL modem also assigned the WRT320 an IP address of 192.168.1.99, so I am a little confused as to which IP addresses I should be setting where.
If anyone can provide some guidance I would be most grateful. Thanks, Martin

I have a similar question, but slightly different and a few things are unclear to me, I will explain:
I want to setup the following:
Internet through DSL-Thompson TG 789 VN router ---> several yards --> Linksys WRT320N --> wired computer netwerk with                                                   |                                                                                             |                              printer
                                                      |                                                                                             |
---> Wireless Netwerk -->   laptops / phones       <---     (WAN depending on strongest signal)
                                                      |
                                                      ---> several servers
The Thompson does the DHCP and routing. It is the gateway through the internet, IP 192.168.2.254 (mask 255.255.255.0).
I can't replace the thompson since it is delivered by my provider. SSID = BertB
I want to achieve that all the compuers / laptops / phone and printer are in one network and can communicate with each other
So the only possibility, as far as I can see, is to set up the Linksys as a bridge.
My question is how I could do this?
I suggest that I have to do the following at the Linksys but have some questions as mentioned below:
    SSID = BertB (the same)
channel = different from the channel used by Thompson
    DHCP = off
    IP = fixed (192.168.2.253)
    gateway = 192.168.2.254
    DNS = ??? I don't know what to do here ???
Do I have to setup something in the advanced routing, and if so, what?
    Firewall --> on or off?
Security --> WPA2/WPA (mixed mode) same as at the thompson?
Security Word --> same as at the thompson?
Is this all, or do I forgot some steps?
    Is my assumption OK?
Another question is how the thompson and the Linksys will build a connection with each other, or will this happen automatically through the above setup?
Do I have to put the mac address of the thompson in the Linksys and/or vice versa?
Well this are a lot of questions and I hope someone can help me out.
Many thanks for answering my questions in advance.
    Best Regards, Bert Buiskool

  • Root-Bridge and Non-Root Bridge Support

I was wondering if the ISR Routers (Cisco 1811w) support the root-bridge and non-root-bridge feature. If not is there another device apart from the 1310 and 1410 bridges that support this feature?
    Thank You,
    VT

    Hi VT,
    The ISR AP supports both of these roles;
    Access Point Link Role Flexibility
Access Point Link Role Flexibility allows access point radios to operate in a combination of radio roles,
such as access point root, bridge root (with or without clients), bridge nonroot (with or without clients).
This provides a more flexible deployment scheme to support the various applications requirement. Note
that the ISR AP does not support access point repeater and WGB.
    Wireless Non-Root Bridge
The wireless non-root bridge allows the access point radio to operate as the remote node in a point to
point or point to multi-point network.
    Wireless Root Bridge
The wireless root bridge role provides support for both point-to-point or point to multi-point bridging.

  • Masks.selections saved out to folder and viewable in bridge

Was wanting to be able to save out all  my masks that I spent hours creating/painting/extracting with different methods (like saving out colour ranges) to a folder, then able to preview them in bridge and open that mask as a layer with blank pixel layer in a new .psd doc.

    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature:
    masks viewable in bridge
How would you like the feature to work?
save out masks like colour ranges to a folder and have both masks and colour range masks viewable in bridge, then able to open them in a new .psd doc
Why is this feature important to you?
I create a lot of extractions, time consuming masks, and have a lot of documents, its confusing and time consuming trying to locate the mask I want.
This would make it easy to save all my masks in one place and view in bridge easily find and open in a new doc.
also ability to take my masks with me on my laptop without taking all my previous artwork psd docs..
