RV220W Firmware 1.0.1.3

Cisco,
Just downloaded this firmware from your site, and it appears to be corrupt....
I am noticing that the saved file size appears to be smaller than previous versions.
Can you please double check and make sure the file being downloaded from your site is the correct?
When I try to install the downloaded firmware, it fails saying the file is corrupt.

Hi Jason,
Thank you for posting. The firmware you downloaded is for the RV120W, not the RV220W. Version 1.0.0.26 is the only version available for the RV220W. Version 1.0.1.0 has been removed from the download section due to an issue with PPPoE connections failing.

  • Connecting an iPhone/iPad to RV220W's VPN

    Hi
I am looking to purchase the RV220W router. I am interested to know if I can use the iPhone/iPad to create a VPN connection to this router.
I have seen a lot of conflicting information about this so I am looking for a confirmation .
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hello,
Just to people with the same challange:
I can confirm that it´s possible to connect with iOS (iPhone 4S iOS Version 6.0.1) to RV220W (Firmware 1.0.4.17)
    Steps on RV220W:
         1) Enable Remote Mangement (Administration-->Remotemanagement-->Remotemanagment enable
         2) Activate PPTP Server on RV220W (VPN-->IPSec-->VPN Users)
         3) Create User for PPTP Access (VPN-->IPSec-->VPN Users) Protocoll: "PPTP"
    Steps on iPhone
         1) Create new VPN Connection (Setting-->General-->VPN--> Add VPN Configuration

  • Captive portal on rv220w?

    Hello
Does the cisco rv220w have captive portal like the rv180w does, or will it be supported in future firmware?
    Sorry for my bad English
    Thanks in advance
    Dennis

I've not seem anything in the RV220W firmware, You can setup multiple APs on the router and have a "guest" account for free users, but dont think the is a real captive portal.
Take a look here incase i missed something.

  • RV220W System Time Issue in Combination with WiFi Active Time

    Hi
Have system time issues with rv220w!
    Setup:
Note that the real time is 17.32 (bottom right) but the system time is 16.20, result 1h offset (sad that the possibility to configure summertime start/end is missing)
Setting up the WiFi active time from 5.30PM until 6PM (testing only):
Note that the real time is 17.44, the WiFi is "Disabled". The RV220W system time is 16.44 with setting "CET +1h".
    BUT:
Even when i change the RV220W system time to a Time/Date offset GMT +2h EET has this no issue to the WiFi time profile i set up. The WiFi stay down.
    Note:
The WiFi Active Time Settings only working correct when the Clock Source is setting up with "Set Date and Time Manually" (in "Administration" "Time Settings"), but that is not the way.... i don't like to configure time settings manually (no system administrator will do that tinking)
    Conclusion:
I think that the WiFi Time setting does not work fine, mean that the WiFi does not include the configured offset as usually system does....
    Further:
RV220W firmware is up to date....
Hope Cisco will fix that and add the summer time feature (like in other systems and other manufacturer) in the next FW.....

I learned that this wasn't possible until the recent release by Apple of the software update "*About Time Machine and AirPort Updates v1.0*".
this has been possible for a long time, since about February 2008 when those updates came out.
The minimum system requirement for this software update is OS X 10.5.2. I should think this requirement is met because I have upgraded to 10.6.1. But when I try to install the software I get the message that the system requirement is at least 10.5.2. and as a result *I can't continue installing*. Apparently my OS update is not recognized by the software. Is there a solution for this problem? Many thanks.
you don't need to install those updates. they are for leopard, not snow leopard. you should be fine as is. do keep in mind that TM backups to air disks are not "officially" supported but they have worked for a long time. also, keep in midn that you'll need to start a new backup sequence once you move the drive to AEBS as remote backups are stored differently from directly attached ones.

  • RV220W - Wrong NAS Port-Type using RADIUS for 802.11

    Hi everyone
I am attempting to configure the RV220W (Firmware 1.0.6.6) for dot1x authentication over a Windows 2008 based RADIUS Server (using Remote Access Services).
The RADIUS settings on the RV220W are pointing towards that W2008 Server. The SSID has been set up for "WPA2 Enterprise" Security.
All the authentication attempts arrive at the server, but they fail to get authenticated because the Cisco RV220W is not transmitting a "NAS Port-Type" and therefore, the RADIUS Server will reject the requests.
This is what the request from the RV220W looks like on the server:
And this is a request from a similar Zyxel Router:
How can I enable the Cisco RV220W to send a NAS Port-Type (19, Wireless 802.11)?
    Thank you for your support!

The RADIUS server in OS X Server is a standard FreeRADIUS implementation with Apple's own custom GUI frontend for configuring it and which only allows adding AirPort base-stations. In Mountain Lion Server it is even limited to a specific configuration for the AirPort base-station.
However if you follow the normal command-line instructions and steps for configuring FreeRADIUS then it will be possible to add any type of RADIUS client.
While as far as I can see by manually configuring the FreeRADIUS server in OS X Server should enable you to do what you want, most people chose to configure Squid to use either a PAM or the LDAP modules for Squid to in this case authenticate directly to Open Directory (which is of course based on LDAP).
I myself have used a PAM in the past with Squid to successfully configure Squid to authenticate users via Open Directory. I was even able to specific an Open Directory group and only allow members of that group access via the Squid Proxy Server. I then went a bit OTT and set up another open-source tool (which was discontinued and I had to fix to get working) to process the Squid logs and store them in MySQL, and then setup FileMaker Pro to connect to the MySQL database via ODBC to allow producing reports.
Unfortunately the AFP458 website had a major redesign a while ago and many previous technical articles on it are now hard to find. I had used two articles on that site to guide me through setting up Squid and the PAM on a Mac server. I believe the two articles I used are the ones listed below.

  • RV220W Port Forwarding

I am trying to install an RV220W in our main office hub.  I have rvs4000's in the satellite offices and their vpn tunnels are working fine with our legacy router in the main office.  I replaced the legacy router with an RV220W.  All of the tunnels came up fine and all of the port forwarding was working with firmware version 1.0.0.26.  I was having some issues and talked to Cisco support.  Their suggestion was to upgrade to firmware version 1.0.1.0.
After upgrading, the VPN tunnels came up, but e-mail would not work.  Everything about the device was flakey.  I ended up wiping out the configuration and reconfiguring the unit.  It looked like everything came up fine after that.  The internet was accessible, the e-mail worked.  Two of the 8 tunnels did not come up.  I triple checked the settings and couldn't find anything wrong wit them.  Port forwarding seemed to work except for RDP.  I looked at the settings again and again, but could not get RDP to work.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to move forward from here?

RV220W firmware does not have RDP as a pre-defined Service. So to forward RDP (TCP 3389), you will have to create a Custom Service and then forward that service as part of the Firewall configuration.

  • RV220W - Frag of Proto 17

    Hello
My RV220W (Firmware 1.0.2.1 Beta) is spamming my syslog with this error:

It comes in series of 1 or up to 10 a second, with a random interval of ~1minute or more. Can some one tell me what this is, so I can eliminate it? Google hasn't been helpful.
I installed the beta firmware yesterday, although I have seen this particular error before. Unfortunately I couldn't import my settings from the previous firmware (1.0.1.0), so I had to redo everything manually.
The firmware was given to me, because of the hair-pinning problem (NAT loopback or whatever you wanna call it), which is resolved in this beta release. But the above kernel error must be something in my setup, since it is consistent with the current and the previous firmware.
At the moment I have 1 server attached via cable, a client computer also via cable and an Android phone via wireless.
Any help is appreciated, and if you need further information, just let me know.
    Thanks in advance,
    Henrik

After searching some more on google, I figured out what it means.
Proto 17 is the UDP protocol, and "Frag" is short for fragment.
Once I disabled the "Block Fragmented Packets:" function in the firewall, the errors stopped. Why it lists a feature as an error in the logs, is still a mystery for me.. =)
    Have a nice weekend all

  • VLAN to VLAN firewall rules support missing on RV180

How do I submit an RFE (Request For Enhancement) to the Cisco SBR team to encourage them to  implement the missing support for VLAN to VLAN firewall rules that was available in the RVS4000 (See https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3614106#3614106) and that was supposedly added to a beta release of the RV220W firmware (See  https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3614106#3614106)?

Hi Kelly, the RV220W does support LAN to LAN access rules on the 1.0.4.17 and it is released.
To make a feature request, it is pretty simple. Call the SBSC, have a case created for you. Tell the engineer you'd like to make a feature request. It usually gets escalated in 3 days or less.

  • RV 120W SNMP Set

Hey all, I have the RV 120W router, and can not seem to get SNMP Set to work. I though I would just check here, and make sure it is supported, and if it is, are there any special config settings I need to use?
Thanks, and sorry if this is a stupid questions!!!

The release notes of RV220W firmware 1.0.2.4 stated a known issue that SNMP MIBs only support Read access.
So I would think R120W has the same issue.

  • RV220W - disappointing firmware update strategy

Due to the large amount of known issues which are still open with the actual firmware release v1.0.4.17 and due to the fact that there hasn't been any new release since 21-AUG-2012, I'm really disappointed about the firmware release stategy of the Cisco SMB section.
Does anyone know anything about what's comming and when it may be expected?

I have the same random reboot problem and I am quite sure that this is related to bittorrent application in my case.
Even with no BT tasks but with the bittorrent client running, the router would reboot by itself randomly from once a day or as many as several times daily. However, the router stay alive for months if I turn off all BT clients, regardless how heavy loading I have for activities other than BT. Approached twice the cisco support earlier this year with no clues. I did some heavy research and tunes on the matter and somebody said it might be due to the router ran out of "network translation table", or similar, I forgot what the term it is exactly. For now, I simply turn off all BT clients when I don't need BT.
Honestly I am quite pleased of other features of this RV220w, e.g. IPSEC, SSLVPN, fast performance, etc. Still this random reboot problem irritate me to some content. Hopefully the new firmware will come soon to tackle this problem then I will recommend this product to my friends.

  • Possible bug with RV220W PPTP with firmware 1.0.1.0

I have a RV220W that I was running firmware 1.0.1.0 and I was having a very hard time getting the PPTP VPN to work on it so last night I did some testing
I downgraded to firmware 1.0.0.26 and did a factory reset and set up PPTP and tested and it worked.
I then restored my setting from a backup and tested and it worked
Then upgraded to 1.0.1.0, did a factory reset and tested and got disconnected from the VPN right away (no data in logs)
So in order to use PPTP I had to downgrade back to 1.0.0.26
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Guys,
A bug fix has gone into development,  it is bug id CSCto08922.  I wlll push it along on your behalf.    There is a wierd work around for the problem.
    It involved doing the following;
step 1.  Getting hold of beta firmware from Level 2 support by asking the SBSC technician to escalate the case .
refer the good folk at the SBSC to this posting if you are having any trouble.
I am happy for them to contact me. You will need Firmware version 1.0.2.1, BUT don't install it yet
step 2. The new beta code has a problem with configuration of the PPTP server, you can't see the PPTP setting, hey it's betacode.
Step 3. So,  I made sure my RV220W is at the  current generally available  code version 1.0.0.26 so I could  configure the pptp server options.
Step 4.  unfortunately  i  had to altered my LAN network setting, as version 1.0.0.26 code does not allow you to have the PPTP range of addresses inside the existing LAN network.
So if you LAN address is 192.168.1.1 you will find you get a error if you try to  set the PPTP address range to 192.168.1.X to 192.168.1.Y
My LAN network was going to be 192.168.20.X, but after factory reset the LAN reverted back to 192.168.1.1.
I set my PPTP server to allocate IP range 192.168.20.250 to 192.168.20.254.
Step 5  I added my five PPTP user accounts.
step 6. I altered the  LAN IP of my router from 192.168.1.1  to my desired address of  192.168.20.1
Step 7.  Then upgraded to beta code. version 1.0.2.1.
PPTP  then worked like a dream - at last
There  should be no difficulty getting hold of Beta code version 1.0.2.1, but your case may need to be escalated . The following URL had contact details for the SBSC.
Again my apologies for this hassle.

  • RV220W Beta Firmware 1.0.4.17

Is anyone else using the Beta firmware?
    There are some improvements.
One can now view alerts and notifications within the software.
Also it appears as if the Protect Link Block Page was reworked to allow direct acces to Trand Micro Website for checking out Blocked URLS.
I also think CPU and memory usage is much improved.
Small Business Support can provide the firmware.

I agree with the thought of Cisco needing to take the SMB market seriously.
I suppose some of the issue, like you alluded to is the division of the products between
Enterprise, Enterprise for Small Business, & Small Business.
Enterprise Grade products are Configurable,Complex & not Plug & Play. Their small business counterparts on the contrary need to be easy to use & easy to setup, but instead they retain some of the complexity of their big brothers.
I was advised to buy an SA520, but chose the RV220W because of price.
That said I do like my RV220W over the Sonic Wall TZ100. As far as ZYXEL their product lijne is somewhat limited.
With Cisco I know they have a full line-up of compatible products for the majority of my needs. The products are well built & generally work well with one another.
I do really like the QOS per VLAN on the RV220W as well as the Protect Link Filter. Also the SSL VPN Portal is a really neat idea -it just doesn't work in Windows 7.
Hopefully we see some of the issues addressed in the next firmware update like slow DHCP assignment, lack of clear logs for Protect Link, & an Easy VPN setup wizard. Actually setup Wizards for everything would be great.
    Feature Requests:
    Port Forwarding Wizard
    Protect Link Wizard
    VPN Setup Wizard
QOS Setup Wizard (with AUTO VOIP setting?)
Live logs from all systems including Protect Link.
    IPS (in a simplified form)
Connect Protect link & Firwall Conten Filtering.
Allow SSLVPN Portal to work with Windows 7, Windows 8, IE9, Firefox, & Chrome.

  • Will there be a last Firmware for RV220W

    Hello,
will there be a last Firmware for the RV220W after the end of sales announcement?
    Regards
    Timo Ostendarp

    Hello, tostendarp.
It is very unlikely that a Cisco device (like an RV220W) to get Firmware updates if there is already an End of Life/End of Sale announcement. Is this for your existing RV220W, by the way?
Let me know if you have additional concerns or e-mail ([email protected]) me directly. Kind regards.

  • RV220W bricked after firmware upgarde ?

I had a well running RV220W with firmware 1.0.1.0 running. I did a firmware upgrade, but that failed: during the upgrade process, the browser kept on spinning trying to open the page, but failed. The router has two lights flashing one after the other: DMZ and one next to wireless light (no name on it).
What can I do to revive it ?

Did you try to hold the reset button for 12 seconds?
If that doesn't work. It does have a limited life-time warranty you can return it to the reseller or call Cisco.
