RV220W: redirect external ip to local

Situation:
On my local network I have a server that is accessible from within the LAN and (using a firewall rule) from outside. So far so good.
The software using the server is installed on mobile devices that access the server from within the LAN and from outside.
The settings in the software only allow setting a local ip or an external ip.
The current workaround is to set the local ip on the mobile devices (iPhone and iPad). For external access the users have to start a VPN session first and then sync with the server.
I really would like to take out the VPN step and have all users, mobile and otherwise, use the external ip whether they are on the LAN or outside.
I have tried to setup up a VLAN for the mobile devices, but that did not work.
Anyone?
Thanks,
Jaap

There are a couple of options you have depending on what it is exactly that you want to do. Is the access to the internal PC's going to be application specific or access to the PC by and large ?
You could VPN into your internal network or you can forward the application specific ports.
Post the details as to what exactly you are looking for....we'll see what we can do about it.

  • AppV 5 slow to refresh with roaming profile (no redirects) but fast with local profile

    Hi,
I have an issue I can't get thought out. I have an AppV5 SP3 full infra, with SMB share and local caching of packages enabled. Everything works from a functional level. However I have an issue where users with a roaming profile get a very slow AppV refresh
    during login.
I created a few testaccounts, a few with local profile and a few with roaming profiles. For these testusers there are NO folder redirects. The only difference between them is local profile or roaming profile.
When I login with a local-profile user initially, the AppV client rather slowly refreshes the applications and shortcuts. It generates quite some CPU load on the RDS host, but as soon as the shortcuts are placed everything is fine. When I log that user off,
and log in again, the shortcuts are there immediately and I can immediately start the applications (Office 2010 for example). Blazing fast. Also when logging in, the refresh-UI is there for about half a second, it really flashes and it's done.
Then with a testuser with roaming profile, the initial refresh is about the same. But when I logoff that user and login again, it's all very slow. The shortcuts are there but blank initially, it takes about 5-10 seconds to get the correct icon. It takes
much longer before the refresh actually starts (sometimes up to 30 seconds after login), and it takes 5-10 seconds to do the refresh, with 100% cpu load on the thread AppVclient.exe is running on. Also right after loging in when the shortcuts are blank they
don't work until they get the proper icon. WHen everything is refreshed it works all fine though. It's just painfully slow at start.
I don't understand this. I can reproduce this every single time. Without folder redirects I don't see the difference between roaming and local profile from AppV perspective, as the roaming profile is of course copied to the server and in that sense the server
just works with a local copy anyway.
Anyone encountered this, and how to troubleshoot, or better fix this?

So is the fact that there is a 5-10 second delay during refresh actually an issue? What I mean by that is - are any users comparing the local profiles with roaming profiles experience, or complaining that the delay is there?
Roaming profiles and Folder redirection are of course very simple to configure; however for the best user experience I recommend managing profiles with a real profile management solution.
If you have MDOP, then you'll also have access to UE-V. You've mentioned your environment is RDS, which sadly doesn't get UE-V, even though you have App-V.

  • Using an external HD and Local HD

I have a bunch of pictures that are on my computer from icloud and people sending through email etc.  I also have a whole library of pictures on my external HD as well.
What is the best way to organize these?  I want to continue to use my external HD and not copy everything to my Macbook Pro.  I also want to continue to have whatever pictures I take with my phone and Ipad automatically sync to my computer.
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  Just a couple more quick questions.
I am going to take your suggestion and use both the EHD and my local storage.  Does this mean I'll have to create a separate library?
The EHD I have was originally used with my Windows PC and is formatted to NTFS.  I'm going to use the program Paragon to allow me to be able to write to the disk.  How do I get the library to see the pictures?  When i plugged in the EHD it obviosuly doesn't just show up in Iphoto.  Do I have to import the pictures?  If I do that, am I not just copying them all to my Macbook Pro?
Ultimately what I would like to do is be able to open Iphoto and see all my pictures in one library using both local storage and EHD.  Is that possible.
Last question.  If the EHD is not plugged in and I open Iphoto, will it still show me thumbnails of the pictures? Can I see a larger size but just not edit the file?
    Thanks

  • Loggin in to remote website admin redirects to localhost on local server!!

This is definitely a new one for me. I have developed a Wordpress site locally then uploaded to the remote server. For some reason when I log in I am redirected to the localhost and the version installed locally in XAMPP. I have tried clearing the cache in Firefox but to no avail. When Apache and MySQL are turned off in the XAMPP panel, it still tries to redirect to the local server and I get the "Problem loading page" error.
Also, strangely, when I turn off XAMPP the CSS for the site on the REMOTE server doesn't display! Any ideas short of deleting and starting over? I can't even get into the admin of the site to change the password.

I made all the changes to the config.php file for the new database name, password and username and everything was running fine yesterday. I only noticed today that the CSS was broken when XAMPP was turned off. I may just reinstall the database, it will take less time than trying to figure it all out.

  • Export from external drive reduces local drive space????

So I've uploaded a couple videos to youtube via Quicktime export.  The files are stored on an external hard drive, however as the file uploads, I watch as the available space on the local hard drive goes down.  Is Quicktime storing a local file in addition to the one on the external???  If so, where?  I can't find it to delete it so I can free up that space again.

A key consideration is the amount of free space on your boot hard drive. You will probably need a minimum of 15 to 20 GB to complete your project in iDVD. If you will have this amount of free space after copying over the files, go ahead.
BTW, if you plan on making several copies, make your first 'burn' to a disk image on your hard drive (it's an option under 'File' if I remember correctly).
Verify the disk image with Apple's DVD Player and then burn the copies you need with Apple's Disk Utility. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42724 and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93006

  • External Requirements and local Product Categories

    Hi all,
    please could you assist:
We are running SRM 7 with several ECC backends in ECS.
We would like to transfer ext. requirement from one backend to SRM (via BBP_EXTREQ_TRANSFER).
    No problems so far.
    Prerequisites:
Product categories should only be maintained local in SRM (no r3MATCLASS).
    Idea for Solution:
Use of BADI PRODUCT_CUSTOMER2 and BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI to use the internal product category for replicated materials and for the Inbound external requirements
    Questions:
If we now transfer an external requirement from ECC to SRM (including a product), how does SRM behave (STANDARD)?
Is it mandatory to obtain the replicated product in SRM including the backend product category?
That would mean, we have to replicate the product categories from ECC as well and could not map the incoming requirements to "our" SRM interlanl product categories?
Any experience concerning standard SRM checks for external requirements?
    Thanks and best regards
    Andreas

    Problem solved
We have just mantained local product categories.
Replicated products (from ERP) are automatically switched to these local categories

  • External Drive / Vs Local Files

In my Aperture library, I have a lot of stuff that I 'imported' from an external hard drive - the masters are all in their 'original locations' on the external drive.
This is true for all my folders (I organize by year>month), except for the last few months of 2010. This is the first time I've encountered this issue.
In my local 'Pictures' folder, I have my current Aperture Library, about 10 gigs of previews, thumbnails, all that good stuff, and several large folders of the files I've been importing for the past few months.
I want to move those folders to my external drive, but I don't want to re-import them and deal with re-adding folders, etc - what's the best way to go about this situation? Thanks!

First project went swimmingly. Second, not so well - March 2010.
I got this weird glitch - Error while relocating (Can’t write file (no space)), as well as another claiming masters needed to be relocated.
Then a bunch of NEF's (moved masters I assumed) showed up on the root of my external drive - not in the folder I had told Aperture to relocate stuff to.

  • Secure External LDAP with local user provisioning in a org.

    To all:
I'm working with 05Q1 or as some say v3. I was able to successfully set up user authentication with external ldap and dynamic creation of users with in local org and ldap and map over attributes for storage into local ldap. Now I need to try and make it a secure external ldap authentication. Without disturbing any of the other orgs with in the local system.
Is it possible without turning on security for all? Where would the certs be stored for the secure external LDAP that I am authenticating against?
    Help would be appreciated.
If anyone is trying to do the same thing let me know if your having trouble. I sure did, just getting to the point that I am right now.
    Thanks,

  • UCCX redirect external busy

    Hello,
I want to make in a UCCX 8.5 an external redirect in a script.
The problem is that when the external phone is busy the script should go on.
I 've tested this with a internal number and there i can use the busy case in the redirect step.
When I type in an external extension the call goes to this extension when the script come to this point.
But when the external extension is typed in and this extension is busy the caller hears the busy tone called the uccx application.
    I have a h323 Gateway and CUCM 8.6
In the q931 debug I can see the user busy.
Is there a way that on an external number the script goes on when this number is busy?
    regards
    Marco

    Use consult transfer step instead.

  • Redirect external user (internet) & internal user (intranet)

Hi, we are developing a public portal services in which we have two kind of user: a) public user that access through internet to the portal. b) internal user that access inside a domain to the portal.
We want to know How we can know which is the external and which is the internal in order to assign a portal desktop.
I have seen in the forms the following options:
    1.-> IISPROXY
    2.-> SPNEGO
    3.-> APACHE & SAPDISPATCHER
1.-> It seems that we the last release of the portal is obsolete
2.-> It seems that SPNEGO is for internal use only (intranet).
3.-> I have not documentation about.
I would be very grateful if someone give a solution and documentation or links about it.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Regards.

    Hi Optima,
You can use a appIntegrator to distinguish intranet/ extranet users..
Have a look at "HowToUseAppIntegrator_en.pdf" from service market place.

  • Using External Interface on local content

We're using External Interface for interfacing between Flash
    and
JavaScript on the HTML page. All works fine online. When we
    try to
localize the pages though (so that a Salesperson can have a
    CD full of
demos), none of them seem to work.
Is this an over-sensitive Flash security issue? We already
    have
    allowscriptaccess='always' and swliveconnect=true in the
    object/embed tags.
What can we do that doesn't require changes on each
    individual machine
to set trust paths or any other kind of browser
    configuration? Not only
do we want to have this content working on the machine of a
    salesperson,
we may get clients that want to deploy content offline
    (kiosks, machines
    without any network access).
    ~dd

I believe you also need to have the user add the Flash file's location as a trusted
source in the Flash Player settings.
This is obviously an enormous pain. To get around this, you can run a temporary server from the CD. My team has used the Flying Ant server (http://www.wrensoft.com/flyingant/) and it worked quite well, and it runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Alternatively, you could create an installable AIR app to get around the security sandbox issue. If you don't want to have the customer install anything or have to go through loads of instructions to change Flash Player settings, go with the server solution.

unable to execute service change_user_auth_type and function storeuserdatabaseprofiledata

    Hi Behruz,
Can you enable the following traces in UCM - 'userprofile, userstorage' and try to post back the output. We should be able to have details as to why this error occurred.
In case you do not know to enable the trace, Ref - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e10792/c02_settings010.htm#CHDBFGCI

  • Sbs2003 does not redirect external users to correct website on a member server

I have both an SBS2003 server with MOSS2007, and on a second server box, I've installed an additional domain controller (Server 2008 R2) w/ DNS, IIS7, and SharePoint Server 2010.
Internally, I can visit http://MOSS2007 (example) or
http://SPS2010 (example) from any device on the network and it takes me to the correct website on the first or second box, respectively.  I can also visit
    http://MOSS2007.domain.com (example) or
    http://SPS2010.domain.com (example) with no problems.
Externally, I can visit http://SBS2003.domain.com (example) and get the "welcome to small business server" webpage.  I can also visit
http://MOSS2007.domain.com (example) and visit the first server box with no problems.  However, visiting
http://SPS2010.domain.com (example) simply shows the "welcome to small business server" webpage.
I can't figure out why SPS2010.domain.com won't display properly to external users outside the network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I really hope it is ISA 2004 and not ISA 2000.

  • Back to My Mac is not connecting when external from my local network

I have an Aiport Extreme.  Back to My Mac is enabled with my Apple ID.  The Mac Mini I have hard wired into the router is also enabled for Back to my Mac.  It's utilizing the same Apple ID.
    Troubleshooting steps undertaken:
    Reset router
Turned off back to my mac on my mac mini and then turned it back on after a few minutes.
Went into the airport utility. (tried each individually and together)
Created a DHCP reservation for that mac mini.
Enabled a default host for NAT.
Unchecked the "block incoming IPv6 connections," but have turned it back on.
In order to test the setup, I tether to my iPhone.  As soon as I tether, the mac mini disappears from shared devices in finder.

    Hi
I have exactly the same problem. I've been tinkering with it for days on and off and so far find it has nothing to do with the setup. I've been through the suggestions as posted by Braden, although i discovered these myself earlier, and it made no difference. I've tried turning things on and off, resigning in to back to my mac and icloud over and over again.
I did discover that either a restart temporarily fixed the problem, or it was me turning off the firewall on the mac mini i wasn't sure, but in either event the fix only lasts a day or so and then the mini randomly disappear from the network (usually just before i really need it!).
Back to my mac was functioning perfectly before the Yosemite upgrade so I'm seriously thinking about downgrading to Mavericks as i now strongly believe it's a bug in Yosemite. If/when 10.1 update comes out, and if it still doesn't fix the problem, then i will jump back to mavericks.
Apart from that I've been really happy with Yosemite!
(sorry Hoosier, i just noticed you were on Mavericks not Yosemite... but same issues here. )
