RV220W: VoIP phones losing registration and staying offline

Hi all,
VoIP phones connected to a Cloud PBX provider are losing their registration to the Cloud PBX. The router in question is an RV220W.
This started occurring when more phones were added to the site. Phones will boot up, register and then lose their registration within a minute or two.
A larger number of phones of the same model with identical config are connecting through a Cisco 871 router without issues so we know the phones and their configs are good.
SIP ALG is disabled.
The UDP session timeout duration is 120 secs. The phones are set to re-register every minute.
What could be wrong?

  • VoIP phones losing connection randomly for a brief moment

So back story here. Just installed two SG200-26 switches (replacing a unmanaged switch) which are connected together via a trunk.
However my SPA921 VoIP phones randomly have the Mic light flash red (which indicates loss of network connection). It happens for a literally a second and reconnects. When pinging the phone you can see a single ping not getting a reply. It also appears randomly on what seems to be most of the phones but not all at the same time, some may be fine while maybe one or two have the issue. It may have it continuously loosing connection for a brief moments for a while then likewise it my be fine for a while or the rest of the day.
Im looking for some ideas for troubleshooting. So far I tried changing the phone ports to static 10M half duplex instead of autosensing and this seems to not have resolved the issue.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Liam

This was one of the ports I was having a problem with, It went down and up becuase I had done a Admin Shutdown on it. However what is it refering to by 'Aggregated'?

Also brief loss of connection happens even when not going through the trunk

  • RV042 VoIP-phone reports "Registration failed"

This is a continuation of a discussion that I erroneously marked "answered".
The title was "RV042 protocol binding for SIP and RTP (VoIP)"
I would like to provide a link to it here but I don't know how.

Problem is solved. Reason was that Network Service Detection was enabled and the Default Gateway did not respond to ping requests which resulted in a WAN failure condition with the consequence of protocol bindings failing over to the working WAN which is inappropriate for the IP-phone registering with the IP telephony provider.
    Best regards, Felix

  • All of my mail accounts keep going and staying offline

Any ideas.  I've talked to two others who this is also happening...

I have been having the same problem for about the past 2 months using mail 4.4 on OS 10.6.6. Its been working fine for a couple of years without a hitch until now. I have about 10 different email addresses all hosted on the same reseller server. Each time there is a timed 'get mail' various accounts go offline and then come back online later, sometimes after a minute or so, some after an hour.
A similar thing is also happening on my iphone4 and ipad2 - 'mail server....... not responding'. This also seems to randomly alternate between various accounts.
My ISP has looked into it and cant find a problem but I think that this is because they cant replicate the problem. They suggested it might be a router/network issue but the problem still happens regardless of wifi being switched off. I have tried a Telnet test and all seems Ok.
Very frustrating as I sometimes have to wait for over an hour for an email to come in that is urgent.

  • VOIP phone and airport express

I've been trying to use my old airport express as a remote access point to connect a VOIP phone to my Airport Extreme network. These are both older airports, "pre-N" and from what I've read here, what I'm trying to do won't work.
So, the question is, can I use the new Airport Express(N) to connect the VOIP phone to a Time Capsule(N)? If so, how do I set up the Express? The VOIP phone uses ethernet, and currently works through the LAN on port on my current airport base station.
    Thanks.

I've use Netgear adapters and a no name brand from DirectTV. Linksys has them, probably D-Link as well. Best Buy will have several to choose from. About $100-150 for a pair.
Now, your question about whether the "g" Express could deliver an ethernet signal. In normal operation, no. But, if the TC and Express were both configured as part of a WDS (Wireless Distribution Network), the ethernet port becomes active in that event. But...you lose half of the bandwidth on your wireless network. WDS is difficult to configure as well.
The newer Express(n) is much simpler to configure and you won't have the big bandwidth penalty with the "extend a wireless network" setup.
Depending on how your wireless signal strength looks in the office, this will work. But, keep in mind there are far more problems with wireless drops, interference issues, etc. The boards are alive with these types of problems.
I think if it were me, (and this was my business phone), I would go with the ethernet powerline adapters, but make sure you get a return for refund privilege...just in case.

    Sounds like a hardware failure.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced.

Well, it appears that your backup is corrupt, thus causing your issue. So, you'll have to restore as a new device, & not from backup. Follow this by syncing your content back to your phone:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
    Do not restore from backup.

Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can authorize it's unlocking.  Contact the carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

Urgent help. I have upgraded my phone but every few hours the apple appears and stays for 15 min an hour or more?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

  • VoIP Phones - Testing Latency, Jitter, and Packet Loss

I am having big problems with my VoIP phone connection and I'll try to lay it out clearly here.
The main telephone system resides at Location A (static IP address - see below - xxx.xxx.206.19), which has a network connection of 50MB down/20MB up (i.e., very fast).  The VoIP phone configured for that system resides at Location B, which has a network connection of 10MB down/1MB up (i.e., also fast, or at least fast enough "on paper" for a quality VoIP connection).  The LAN at Location A uses an Airport Extreme router, which does not have QOS or EF capability. The LAN at Location B uses a D-Link DIR-655 router which does have QOS that is configured properly to direct all traffic to the VoIP phone's IP address.
The VoIP phone at Location B is having intermittent call quality problems with skipping of words, hollowing out noises, jittery conversations, etc.  All the inquiries I've made to the ISPs and phone system manufacturer (ESI) suggest that my base Internet speeds are not the problem.
I'm told, instead, that the problem might be latency, jitter, or packet loss between Location A and Location B.  This leads to several questions:
    (1)     Is there any Mac software that can test latency, jitter, and packet loss? I've looked at Network Utility and it seems to only measure a few things.
    (2)     Does anyone see anything in the following Traceroute and Ping results (done twice from Location B to Location A) that looks problematic to VoIP quality?:

    (3) Any other ideas on what my call quality problem might be, or how I can tweak it?  For example, would putting a DIR-655 router at Location A and enabling QOS really make a difference?
Thanks to everyone, and I hope this is not too long or difficult to understand.

Hey thanks for your reply  Yeah im only getting 1 ro sometimes 2 bars reception so hopefully the antenna will beef things up but I think it is what it is perhaps.

i backed my phone up on itunes and then I changed the battery on my own. the problem is that I can set the phone as a new one but when I try to restore a backup it goes on DFU mode and stay stuck. What can I do?

Once you opened the device you voided any post-warranty support from Apple or the forum. You are on your own. You can try a 3rd party repair facility, but you cannot get any help here or from Apple.

    - Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Next try letting the battery fully drain. After charging for a least an hour try again
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store, it appears you have a hardware problem.

it had to do with Maverick/Aperture not supporting the same date formats as before in Smart Albums when I upgraded.
Smart albums based on dates have always been problematic, if you use smart settings that require a date string to be entered. How the date string will be interpreted, will depend on your settings in the System Preferences > Language&Text > Advanced > Dates formats and the "Region".
It is much safer to use "Calendar" rules in Aperture instead of "Date" rules with date-strings. Calendar rules will remain valid, if the region settings are changed in the System preferences.

I have a WAN  simulation with one Cisco2811 router one Cisco1841 router (connected with fast  Ethernet interface) plus one layer 2  switch.
I upgraded the 2811 IOS to 15.4M and installed CME8.6, when we tried  to add 9971 sip phone If the traffic goes throw LAN (Same subnet- directly from  switch to 2811) everything is fine and the SIP phone (9971) added with no  problem but when I change the subnet and traffic goes throw WAN
( from 1841  routed to 2811 with default route) my phone didn't register.
It will be great  if anybody could help!!
If you can solve my problem, I will be happy to  compensate.

Try binding SIP to an interface on which Phone can reach (Use "voice service voip" "sip" and then bind)
