RV320 loosing WAN and inter VLAN connectivity

I just received a new RV320 V01 router and I am having trouble with the router loosing WAN and inter VLAN connectivity. Anywhere from 2 to 24+ hours the router will stop routing traffic to/from the WAN and other VLANs on the network. I have a ping trace running on one system and all packets are lost when the routing fails to all WAN connections and systems on other VLANs. I am still able to ping all of the router address for the VLANs i.e. 192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1, 192.168.3.1 etc. Unfortunately I only have one system on this VLAN so I do not know if I can ping other systems on the same VLAN. I also do not have any DNS resolution when the issue occurs.
The router is set up using a single ISP connection on WAN1 using DHCP assignment. WAN2 is disabled in the router settings. The router has version v1.1.1.06 firmware. I have also tried disabling VPN pass-through as noted from other posts. When the issue occurs the WAN1 connection is showing as “Connected (Inactive)” with no assigned IP address, gateway or DNS servers. The router is in gateway mode and everything works fine until the problem.
Any Ideas?

You noted that the WAN 1 connection has no IP address when this occurs.
When it occurred last, I noted the "Connected (Inactive)" on WAN1 and that there were no IP addresses assigned.  I have a screen shot of the page attached.  I had noticed the "Connected (Inactive)" previously when the problem was occurring but cannot definitely say there were no IP addresses at that time.  I do not recall if I noticed this before or after I had disconnected the WAN1 to test a direct PC to modem connection.  I did check with the cable company and there are no issues being noted or logged on my connection.  The direct PC to modem connection worked fine.
What type of Internet connection is it? (Cable, DSL, T1, etc)
The connection is Cable

Who is the ISP?
The ISP is the local cable company
When the issue occurs, can devices within a subnet ping each other?
As I noted in the original post, at the time I was on a VLAN that only had one system running to monitor ping traces.  I will try again next time the problem occurs to have multiple devices on the same network.
Are there any switches in the network?
Yes, there is a switch in the system.  I am using a cisco SG200-26.  However, the problem persists even when I directly connected a PC to the active LAN port on the router.  No issue when the PC was dirrectly connected to the modem.
Can you draw a simple topology showing the network with IP addresses, VLANs, etc?

    Yes i understand that dyamic routing is not supported . If we have one switch I can make 3 SVI and assign each port to each SVI , later each port can be connected to a Laptop . This way each laptop will have different IP . Because Laptop's default gateway would be SVI created on switch all data would travel there .
    Now if i do a show ip route on that switch I will see all 3 SVI as Directly Connected route with an administrative distance of 0 because the line protocol of SVI is up .
    My question is would Laptop A be able to ping Laptop B , Intervlan routing ?

  • RV320 two wan and wifi

    Hi,
    just buy a RV320 and I have both wan configured to failover.
    Wan1 has fix ip and Wan2 has dynamic ip.
    I would like to know if i can configure one router to provide WIFI. I tried to create a VLAN in Cisco and isolate wifi but does not work. The router is in bridge mode.
    I hope someone can guide me to solve this problem.

    WAN1: 217.172.x.x
    WAN2: dinamic ip PPPoE
    The switch is connected to port Lan 1 and an old router to port Lan 2 to provide wifi on an isolated network.
    The router has not a special configuration, ip: 192.168.2.2, wifi, dhcp with default gateway 192.168.2.1
    i can connect to wifi but i can not ping to 192.168.2.1
    any help would be appreciated

  • SA540 Inter-VLAN ACL Support Options

    We have several VLANs, basically a different VLAN for each department (i.e. Developers, Payroll, Accounting, etc.) with Inter VLAN Routing turned off.  We have several printers with static IPs that are currently part of a near by VLAN.  We would like to group/share most of our printers across all/most of our current VLANs though.  How can this be achieved?  We don't want to turn Inter VLAN Routing on
    If we had to, it may be possible to move all the printers we want to share across the existing VLANs to a new VLAN (and turn Inter VLAN routing on for that VLAN).  Would that allow all the existing VLANs access to the new *printer* VLAN?  Would all the existing VLANs still be separate and secure from one another?
    We were hoping for Inter VLAN Firewall ACL support in the latest firmware as we were told is was on the roadmap for the SA500 Series routers.  However, we are currently beta testing the 2.2.0.3_1 firmware and Inter VLAN Firewall ACLs are still not possible to create.  Is there anyway to get that into the next firmware release (2.2.0.x) that is coming out soon?

    Hi Curtis Counsil my name is Johnnatan and I am part of the Small business Support community, unfortunately it  is not possible to create ACL´s in your device, the solution is to enable inter vlan or placing a printer for each vlan's with the inconvenience that  it could not communicate with each other, however that's what you do not want. I recommended to you get or buy a Cisco layer 3 device that supports ACL. Such a router or a Switch L3, you can contact our presales team and explain your newortk issue and they will help you with your case

  • Inter-VLAN routing, Auto-Voice VLAN and IP Address-Helper

    Hope that somebody can help me with the setup in the screenshot. 
    Planning to use Auto-Voice VLAN and Smartports to configure VOIP
    LLDP-MED will be enabled on the switch to detect the IP phones so they will be moved to the Voice VLAN (If not the first 6 signs will be added to the OID table). The Voice VLAN ID will be 2 >> Voice VLAN will be automatically enabled once a device is recognized as a IP phone right? 
    Workstations will be connected to the Cisco switch, VLAN data will be untagged and will remain on the native VLAN.
    Smartports will be used to configure the ports (Macro's) >> Should configure the ports as trunks as assigns the correct VLANs right?
    But how do i configure the IP Helper-Address? Do i have to create the Voice VLAN on both switches and then run the command "IP Helper Address" to specify a DHCP server? From what i've been reading it's required, when using Inter-VLAN routing, to configure the VLAN interface with an IP address. But it's going to give problems when both switches are connected to eachother and both have the same VLAN configured including the same IP address assigned to their VLAN interface?
    Normal data should pass  the ASA firewall, VOIP traffic should go through the Vigor modem to a hosted VOIP provider. The best way, i assume, is to configure 2 separate scopes on the DHCP server?
    Still confused on how to set it up, hope that someone can point me in the right direction

    If you're sending voice to only the Vigor modem then there is no need for a trunk between the SF-300 and the Vigor modem. You can just set that to an untag packet for the VLAN 2 between that switch and the Vigor modem.
    On the 'edge' SF300 where the IP phone/PC is it is obviously going to interoute there and of course the phone port is tagged and PC port is untagged.
    For the IP helper, it uses UDP-RELAY and it should be enabled on the port itself and enabled on the global configuration. You may also need option 82. Also keep in mind, depending how your DHCP server works, it may need option 82 configured as well or at least a route to understand the subnets in the layer 3 environment to get traffic across the VLANS.

    The print server that I want to connect allows me to choose among 2 usb printers and 01 serail port printer. It needs to be connected to a router through a lan port. Given that the all new airport express now come with a wan and a lan port, i want to know if I can connect this device to the airport express.

    Beware that while USB print servers are commonly available and inexpensive, finding one with a serial port is more of a challenge. Apple Stores in the US do not sell them. Call the iStore before going there.
    If you need recommendations for obtaining a print server with a serial port, let me know.

    You must restore it, losing anything you have failed to backup or store on your computer or cloud service.

    and another SF300-24

    And we use port 26 on 2 switches SF300-24 is trunk mode then we connect both SF300-24 switches.
    But on SF300-24 layer 2 cann't inderstand VLAN from Sf300-24 layer 3!!!

    First i would upgrade to 1.1.8 since the 1.0.0.27 was beta code.
    Next when when connecting both switches together each port will need set via Trunk mode with proper native vlan and tagged vlan traffic. What's the configuration of your trunk ports on each switch?

    The computer must be authorized to the same account you have on your iPhone. Connect the phone and choose Transfer Purchases from the iTunes File menu.

    I am a complete novice at networking, but I was tasked to have an ASA 5520 do inter VLAN routing (since my shop doesn't have a layer 3 router).
    As a basic setup, I am trying to have three workstations on three different VLANs communicate with each other.  The attached screenshot shows the topology.

  • RV320 - Dual WAN - Load Balance Problem

    Hi all,
    I've just bought a RV320 Dual WAN router an try to get it running. My network setup looks lice the picture attached.
    I have 2 WAN Connections:
    - Router 1 (16Mbit Down / 512kbit up) - no public WAN IP
    - Router 2 (3 Mbit Down / 512kbit up) - Fixed public IP
    Router 1 ist connected to WAN1 and router 2 to WAN2 port on the RV320.
    I have enabled load balancing mode.
    Qustions:
    1.
    I want WAN1 to be the primary line to be used until capacity reached.
    Currently for some reason I don't understand the cisco always uses WAN2.
    That's not good as all browsing and downloading is limited to 3mbit.
    When I switch to "fail-over" mode and set primry live to WAN1 that works, but WAN2 is not kept alive.
    2.
    I am using VOIP and need to route all VOIP traffic to WAN2 interface.
    The best would be to tell the router IP 192.168.177.9 (voip phone) should use WAN2. So far I didn't figure out how to do that.
    Can I put VOIP into one VLAN group and allocated VLAN to one specific WAN interface?

    So, you can hear the phone ringing and answer it? which means that SIP pakets are coming through WAN to LAN and well redirected to the phone IP, but you cannot hear after that, which means that there could be a problem with the RTP packets. 
    If you have problem only with the incoming calls and not the outgoing, than try enable/disable SIP ALG (Firewall). If that doesn't fix the issue, try to allow (or even forward) from WAN to LAN RDP -  UDP ports 16384-32767 to the phone IP.

  • Inter Vlan Routing on a Cisco 861 Router

    I have a Network with 2 Subnets (2 DHCP servers) , Cisco Switch and a Cisco 861 Router.
    On the Router 
    Fa 4 (WAN port) is connected to the ADSL line
    All other 4 ports which are layer 2 ports 
    I need to achieve inter vlan routing 
    I have created 2 SVI's and assigned the default ip address on these SVI vlans
    I have selected fa 3 as the uplink trunk port that connects to the Switch.
    The config on the Fa 3 Trunk port is as shown below

    This config does not show up on the Show Run config even though i did configure it. Is that normal ?
    so will inter vlan routing work in this way ?

    I have enabled what you have specified above which has blocked traffic both ways but it seems to be ignoring all rules to allow RDP, SMTP, IMAP, FTP ect.  Settings shown below:
    Rules 34 - 38 seem to be ignored for some reason not sure why?

  • RVS4000 V1 tracks some VLAN to VLAN connections backwards

    Firmware         V1.3.3.5
    Operation Mode:        Gateway
    VLANs:             4, one per LAN subnet
    Inter-VLAN Routing:     Enabled
    I've got all of the management interfaces of the infrastructure devices
    (switches, UPS,WAPs) on the default VLAN 1 that is configured on as untagged on
    all relevant ports. I've noticed that the router will track most of the routed
    connections from the non-default VLANs to devices on the devices on the default
    VLAN backwards, where the destination is listed as the source and vice versa,
    often with the SYN_SENT state instead of ESTABLISHED as reported by the source
    host.
    I get this information from the IP Conntrack view launched from the
    Status/Gateway screen. This is how a telnet connection from a computer on the
    guest VLAN 3, subnet 10.0.89.0/24 to the default mgmt VLAN 1, subnet
    192.168.75.0 looks in IP Conntrack

    Notice that it  is incoming as expected as opposed to outgoing (to the WAN port).
    I know that these are routed connections, for when I turn off Inter-VLAN
    Routing, I cannot make any connections from on VLAN subnet to another.
    This reversed connection tracking anomaly is causing the firewall ACLs that I have
    implemented to block traffic from the guest VLAN (3) to the default
    (infrastructure) VLAN to not work, since ACLs are defined based on source IP
    and destination IP. Connections to other VLANs other than the default appear as expected
    in the access log and the IP Conntrack view.
    Is this a known bug with the RVS4000 V1?

    Setup -> Advanced Routing -> Inter-VLAN Routing -> Disable

    RV042G Router - Inter VLAN:
    Does this router supports 802.1Q? Or should I connect one router port per VLAN?
    eg. If I have 2 VLAN configured on ONE SWITCH, Do I:
              a) TRUNK the VLAN on SWITCH and connect ONE port to the ROUTER?
              b) connect ONE port on ROUTER to VLAN1, and another port to VLAN2?

    Hello Henrique,
    I don't usually deal with sales or pricing, so I'm honestly not sure which routers are low priced.  However, all of the RVs except for the RV016, RV042, and RV082 support VLAN trunking, so I would just compare the other models and see what kind of a deal you can get.  I usually recommend the RV180 (which is being replaced by the RV130 soon) or maybe the RV320 if you want the newest one.
    With your SG200 you will probably need to disable spanning tree on the uplinks to your RV042 for the multiple links to work, but a quick check of the Spanning Tree, RTP Interface status page on the SG will let you know if those links are being taken down.
