RV320 Router

Hi Cisco Support. I wanna know if this RV320 Router has these features before I buy one:
1. Web filtering - Can filter website by category
                         - Can filter https website like https:www.facebook.com
2. Block Download - Blocking of downloads by file type like mp4, mp3 and exe
3. Time Based Restriction
We have 5 offices and 10 branches / Site. And if ever I will deploy the router to all our office and site.
Thank you.

RV320 does support Web Filtering, please refer to the following link (Chapter 13):

  • RV320 router failover configuration

    Hello,
I have an RV320 router with a WAN connection to the office LAN and a 3G USB modem for failover.
However the failover doesn't work well.
When I unplugged the cable to WAN it works as expected, the 3G modem take over within a couple of seconds.
But when I have trouble with overseas connection, the WAN is still up and the router doesn't switch to the 3G modem.
Is it possible to configure the router so that it ping a specific IP regularly and if the ping fails, it switch to the 3G connection?
    Thanks.

The setting you need is under System Management > Dual WAN
-Select WAN 1 and click edit.
--Under Network Service Detection you can specify an internet host to act as the trigger for failover.

  • RV320 router keeps restarting (probably crashing)

Since we have installed the router with very simple configuration a few weeks ago, the router keeps rebooting at random interval, usually twice or more a day. We tried hard reseting it, and I also found a new firmware to which I upgraded the router a few days ago (from 1.1.0.09 to 1.1.1.06), but it still does the same thing.
I have logging turned on, but the only relevant messages I see in the logs are those when it already restarts (rv320 : System is up). So I don't know how or why it crashes.
The only features we use are Site-to-site IPSEC VPN termination and DHCP server. It is in gateway mode, so firewall and NAT is active. But I turned off or unconfigured basically everything else.
What could I do to have this solved?
Is there any way to extract more information, probably some kind of trace or crashdump, or debug logs from the router?

We have just replaced the router with the same type.
    Uploaded same firmware, same config.
The router still keeps on rebooting!
In the system log there is nothing about why it is rebooting, I only see "System is up" message.
However I've just noticed that in the Incoming Log Table I have these messages, which I don't really understand:

The internet connection is a 120Mbps/25Mbps leased line. I know that some users have torrent running, even though it is forbidden.
Is it possible that this "high performance" router still has the good old problem of open connections count limit, so because of a lot of half open and established connections caused by torrent make the router deplete its resources and thus reboots?
Rebooting happens more often during working hours, this might indicate that it could be related to resource usage.
What is the theoretical connection count this router should be able to handle?
Do any of you have similar problems?

  • RV320: Router cannot be restarted remotely

I have remote management enabled, but the restart function does not do anything when accessed via WAN. It shows a message that it is rebooting, but it does nothing. It only actually reboots when performed from LAN. Is this a known issue?

This happened to me. I had "Enable default host" enabled in the Internet/NAT tab and it was causing BTM not to work on the time capsule. Do you have it enabled for one IP address? Try turning it off and BTM should work for the time capsule.
What enable default host does it sets the one machine with the designated IP address to sit outside the firewall and it fowards all ports to that IP. With it turned on, BTM doesn't work on the time capsule. I think it confuses where to forward the ports.

  • RV320 SSL VPN ActiveX and Virtual Passage driver on Windows 7 64-bit

    Hi,
My company has just purchased a new RV320 router and only afterwards found out from the release notes that there are issues with the SSL VPN in this unit and other small business routers. Is there any news on when these issues will be fixed?
    1) ActiveX controls have expired certificate dated 24/9/14 - this prevents them from running unless without changing IE security settings to prompt or allow unsigned controls, which is a big security risk.
    2) ActiveX controls do not work on Windows 64-bit. Release notes state Windows 7 IE10 and Windows 8.1 IE11, however they also fail on Windows 7 IE11. Even adding router to Trusted Sites to force 32-bit mode results in error message stating that IE is required for the controls.
    3) Virtual Passage driver will not install - crashes IE10/IE11 with a BEX violation.  From a dig around the web it appears that the Netgear SRX5308 uses the same Cavium chipset and a Virtual Passage driver that works with Windows 7 64-bit, and installs fine using IE10/11 (and if you install the Netgear driver it works with the Cisco RV routers too, proving that the driver is fully compatible...) - if Netgear can get this working, why can't Cisco?
I've only just started setting us this router and show stopper issues like this might end up with an RMA being requested as it appears to be unsuitable for purpose, already run into other issues with I've posted about. :(
EDIT: Got (2) sort of working on IE11 - seems that the Cisco interface is specifically looking for old style IE user agent strings, so using developer tools to set the user agent to IE9, and changing security settings in Trusted Sites to prompt for unsigned controls (due to issue (1)), allows the controls to install and load. These issues are pretty simple to fix, requiring just a string check change and updated signed controls. Fingers crossed these are fixed in the new firmware due soon, awaiting response from Cisco support to my open ticket.
Looks like (3) is prevented from working by (1), and also because the certificate has expired it is treated as software without a valid publisher which cannot be installed in Windows 7 without fiddling in the registry. Releasing an updated version with a certificate that isn't expired should solve that issue too.
These are ridiculously simple fixes to push out, I can't believe a major hardware vendor like Cisco hasn't already solved these issues.

I've had a reply from Cisco support regarding this issue, and it's a bleak outlook. This is a copy from the email I received:
"Engineering has no plans to support SSL VPN on RV32x due to chipset limitations. Pretty much, it will work for old XP and Win7 32-bits."
So Cisco are falsely advertising that the RV320 has SSL VPN capabilities when there are no plans to update it so that it works with 64-bit Windows (which is now the major install base for Windows as most new systems are 64-bit based), and as the certificates have expired in the SSL VPN components they are not even useable on 32-bit systems without overriding a number of security settings.

  • Load Balancing on RV320

    Hi,
My Cisco RV320 router are not working like I want ...
I get two ISP in France, same tech. specs., sames bandwidth, but 2 differents way to connect.
The first WAN is connected in PPPoE with a ADSL2+ Modem
The second WAN is connected in Static IP with a modem/router
I set the load balancing Auto. but it seem that the WAN2 is more used than the WAN1...
For example, I upload a big documents, like a video on youtube, witch take a long time and need the max Bandwidth. While I'm going to download a file with an internal software, who use a different port by the way. The most of the time, it only use the WAN2 ... so my download is flanged ! It only donwload @~450KB/S when it can max @ ~1,8MO/S, and the WAN1 is not blinking ... And sometimes the balancing is good ... I can't understand the RV320 logic ? But Maybe is there a bug ? Maybe I get a bad configuration ?
    Have a clue ?
    Please help me !

So, you can hear the phone ringing and answer it? which means that SIP pakets are coming through WAN to LAN and well redirected to the phone IP, but you cannot hear after that, which means that there could be a problem with the RTP packets.
If you have problem only with the incoming calls and not the outgoing, than try enable/disable SIP ALG (Firewall). If that doesn't fix the issue, try to allow (or even forward) from WAN to LAN RDP -  UDP ports 16384-32767 to the phone IP.

  • RV320: DHCP Option 82 + DHCP relay at Ethernet switch

We purchased a RV320 router and want to use the DHCP Option 82 IP Assignment in combination with a ZyXEL GS1910-24 Smart Managed Switch.
The switch is able to insert Option 82 Circuit-IDs into DHCP requests, if they are relayed to a specific DHCP server. So there must be configured exactly one IP address of the DHCP server in the switch configuration (eg 192.168.1.1). The problem is, that the RV320 creates different IP subnets for different Circuit-IDs. So the RV320-router has multiple IPs, one unique IP per subnet (192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1, 192.168.3.1, ...).
How can I use the Option 82 IP assignment with this configuration?
Is a routing/firewall rule at the RV320 a solution (to forward DHCP requests from subnet specific IP - eg 192.168.3.1 - to exactly one IP, eg 192.168.1.1)?

    mpyhala,
seems not to work as the RV320 is restricted to 6 custom VLANs (+ 1 Management VLAN with ID 1).
Maybe I should describe the whole scenario, which should be implemented:
The configuration is like for a small hotel: each room should be logically seperated from each other (no inter-room traffic for security) and each rooms bandwidth should be managed.
Bandwidth management at the RV320 relies on IP addresses. So I need to achieve somehow, that a room (= port number on switch) is always assigned a specific IP address.
14 rooms should be covered in that way.
The problem is currently the link IP<->Switch Port. I thought DHCP option 82 is the way to go, but VLANs (one VLAN for each room) may be also a solution. Unfortunately none of the two ways work.
What can be a solution? Was the RV320 the wrong decision (not enough flexibility)?
    Thanks.

  • Rv320 - port forwarding from a specific WAN IP

Hi, i just received and configuring the rv320 router. I can successfully set the port forwarding from WAN to specific LAN IP address. I would like to know is it possible for this device to set the port forwarding from a specific WAN IP address? Thank you for the help.

I have the same problem, and have already tried creating a Access Rule without success. I need to forward Remote Desktop Port 3389 from a specific public IP address to a internal server. I do this with other lower-level Cisco Small Business routers all the time, but cannot get this to work with the RV320. Here's what I've tried:
    1) Create new Access Rule
    2) Create new Service called TS for TCP port 3389-3389
    3) Set new Access Rule to Allow
    4) Set Source Interface to Any (I've also tried WAN1, etc.)
    5) Set Source IP to the only single public IP that will be allowed
    6) Set Destination IP to the single internal IP address
    7) Set Scheduling to Always
When I use any standard RDP app from the outside, the router blocks 3389 access.
What am I missing? Can anyone help resolve this, or do I need to call in to Cisco Support?

  • RV320 Dual WLAN Setup

Hello I bought an RV320 Router and a WAP371 AP. I am trying to setup my Network with a private LAN, and a private WLAN for the business as well as a Guest WLAN for customers.
I am trying to setup 2 VLAN.
    VLAN1 (192.168.1.1 /24) : for managing the router
    VLAN20 (192.168.2.1 /24) : for my private network
    VLAN30 (192.168.3.1 .24) : for my guest network
I do not want the router to broadcast DHCP to VLAN20 because I have a DHCP server already.
The problem I am having is that I am not able to receive IP addresses on my Wireless clients.

    Hello edgard409,
Thank you for using the Cisco Small Business Support Community!
Would you be able to provide any additional information about your topology, including how you have your VLAN memberships configured on your RV320?
In the meantime, I've also found a few articles in our Knowledge Base that will hopefully help guide you through the process of setting up the DHCP server on VLANs 1 and 30, and disabling it on 20 (located here), and on setting up your VLAN memberships (located here).
I hope this helps you out, and if you experience further issues, please reply back and we'll do our best to find a solution to solve your problem! If this post resolves your issue, please remember to mark your question as resolved and rate to help other community members with similar issues. Thanks!

  • RV320 GUI Inaccessible with v1.1.1.06

    Hi,
I have a RV320 Router at a Costumer with two WAN Ports activated with Load balance.
Avter some Time the GUI is Inaccessible and the only way to Fix it is to power Cycle the Device.
The Traffic on the Device seems to be not affected.
Is this a known Bug ?
    Current Software is: v1.1.1.06
    mfg Andreas

    I have found funny workaround.
In form that is submitted on this page there are much more fields but they are hidden.
One of them is "Multiplue_Subnet". You have to fill it with something like:
    "255.255.255.0,255.255.255.0,255.255.255.0,255.255.255.0,255.255.255.0"
and form will be saved and your new IPs will be saved. I don't know if this value brake something in SSL VPN. All I cared about was to free those IP addresses used by SSL VPN. Now I can use them for other purposes.

  • RV320 slow DHCP

We have a RV320 router. To our knowledge, we use it with out-of-the-box setings, all clients get the LAN ip-address via DHCP from the RV320.
The problem is the time it takes for the RV320 to hand out an ip-adress, it takes between 1-2 minutes, both in the case when a new client is connected and in the case when a client is re-booting and initates a new request.
We are usung the latest firmware v1.1.1.06.

    I Martin,
We have same problem with RV320. There are only about 20 APs requiring an IP. Most of the times, the APs reboots.
Tried also with RV180. Analysed with wireshark, the clients lauched DHCP requests 5 times before RV started to answer. If the client (APs in this case) have a timeout for getting IP, then reboot themselfs most of the times before the RV routers started to respond.
    Thanks in advance,
    Raúl.

  • RV320

This is my second post on the RV320 router, first if you are looking to replace a existing router with this DO NOT replace it with the RV320.
    Firmware v1.06
It does not support dual wan connections at the same time!  If it does thier is no supporting guide to configure it.
WAN 1 Static IP shows connected with no activity, WAN2 is connected but looses its lease and drops connection does not renew automatically
    What I want WAN1 only on vlan 6 and WAN2 vlan4 and 5.
I want an full guided to setup two wans one static and the other dynamic, with vlan 6 only accessing wan1 and vlan 4 and 5 accessing wan2

Check the "Content Filter" under Firewall also.. they perform like rules.

  • RV320 Bonjour Discovery across VLANs?

    Hi
I have a network consisting of 2 VLANs - one for the "main" network and one for a "guest" network setup using an RV320 router. I have a couple of Apple TVs and a Sony smart TV setup on the main network VLAN. I would like these devices to be discoverable and usable on the guest VLAN as well. After reading various articles about Bonjour, it seems that this is not easily done.
Can anyone confirm whether or not it is possible to provide this functionality on the RV320 router? Any advice would be most appreciated.
    Regards.

    Hi Richard,
My name is Andrew and I am a content developer for the Cisco knowledge base.
There is bonjour discovery on the RV320. According to the admin guide, page 61, under the System Management tab. " When this feature is enabled, the device
periodically multicasts Bonjour service records to the LAN to advertise its
existence." According to the photo I provided, it does allow you to enable bonjour on different VLANs.
From there, you can enable or disable bonjour for specific VLANs.
It seems like your configuration would be similar to this topology below,
Where the RV320 can route traffic across different VLANs (with bonjour enabled). You might want to check your Port Management tab if inter-vlan routing is enabled.
I hope this answers your question.

  • RV320 restart and behave unstable after failover from WAN to USB3G modem.

I've setup a RV320 router with a 500Mbps internet link and a 3G modem in Hot standby mode.
But when I try to unplug the WAN and it failover to the 3G internet connection, the RV 320 behave very unstable and it frequently either
    1. crash and restart and end up not able to access via webgui without network connectivity(All Led still remains on).
    2. Fail over to 3G, works for a period of time, crash and restart.
For recover back from 3G modem to WAN, it usually able to fall back to WAN but crash and restart after a period of time, sometime after it restarted, the RV320 no longer respond, and webgui not available again. even it has down, all LED remains on and it looks still functioning.
Do you encounter similar problem and how do you fix it?
Can anyone from Cisco can help to fix this in next version firmware? I'm ok to help collect information from my RV320 for troubleshoot the problem.

Latest developments: we also own an Airport Express, so this afternoon I tried creating a network with it, instead of with the Airport Extreme. Same problem happened: the cable modem / router supplied by our ISP (Telia) has issues. It is a ZyXEL P-660H-D1 Triple Play. Unfortunately I cannot enter its config page (one is supposed to be able to access at 192.168.1.1 – it doesn't work), so I can't modify any of its settings.
It remains possible, however, to plug connect a computer directly to the ZyXEL with an ethernet cable and access the internet.
Also, the Airport Extreme can create a wireless network so its router functionality still works. Same with the Airpot Express. It looks as though the problem sits with our modem. Grateful if anyone has ideas.
