RVS4000 - QuickVPN on Windows 7

I have searched on and off for 2 days to fix this problem, with no luck....so here goes:
I have an RVS4000 installed and have VPN setup and running.
From one office I am able to connect using QuickVPN 1.4.1.2 from a Windows XP machine, but I can't connect from a Windows 7 machine at the same location.  It gets to "Verifing Network" and hangs everytime.
I've tried with and without Windows Firewall enabled, with the same results.
I've made rules in Windows Firewall for the program, and ports TCP 443, 60443 and UDP 500, 4500.  I've also enabled ICMP.
I've uninstalled / reinstalled and tried running in compatibilty mode, with the same results.
I need to get this to work for when I travel.....any ideas?

A call to support will likely have to be my next step, but looking at the amount of questions on this around the internet....with no real answers....I would think it would be in Cisco's interest to get this information out for people to find and quickly resolve.
Also....I'm running no third-party firewalls / security on my machine.

QuickVPN does not work with Windows 7 - FIX IT
I have used QuickVPN 1.4.0.5 running on XP and Windows 7 on the same box and XP always works, Windows never does
I have used QuickVPN 1.4.0.5 running in an XP virtual machine and a Windows 7 Virtual machine and XP always works, Windows 7 never does.
I have read all the messages on this forum and none of them helped.
Clearly there is nothing wrong with my router(s) or ISP blocking ports etc etc since XP ALWAYS WORKS !!!!
I have to keep an XP virtual machine around just to run QuickVPN - I guess I should count myself as lucky.
At least I can get some work done!

First of all sorry for my English.
I had the same issue and finally solved it by installing the CISCO.VPN.Client.v5.0.04.0300 (the one which is used for routers like Cisco 877) additionally into my computer (QuickVpn and CiscoVPNClient).
I found this solution by "accident", because I had a Laptop with Windows 7 in my home, where Quicvpn was working perfect from the beginning.
Then I thought that the only deference was that I had installed first the CISCO.VPN.Client to establish a vpn connection to a different place. So I tried this procedure to a new laptop and it worked also.

  • QuickVPN on Windows 7 64-bit - Won't Connect

There are a number of threads in regard to QuickVPN and issues with Windows 7 64-bit.  However, most of them appear to be older (more than a month or two old), or have become inactive with no solution found.  I know the latest version of QuickVPN is supposed to solve the issue, but that doesn't appear to be the case in my situation.  Example threads:
    -https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3136206#3136206
I have a couple of clients on WinXP Pro successfully using QuickVPN to connect to our WRVS4400N.  However, one client has Windows 7 64-bit.  I've installed the latest version of QuickVPN (QVPN_UTL_1.4.0.5), and uninstalled Norton Internet Security (resetting the Windows Firewall to defaults).  However, it still fails to connect, giving me a "Remote gateway is not responding." dialog.

    Hi,
can you also specify, how did you installed Win7?
    Using Recovery CDs? or?
Note, that RnR needs to modify the boot loder of Windows and if the access is blocked, due to permissions, then this situation of course will happen.
However, there is also a second option, on how to get RnR installed and this is using a command line installation which will NOT install the RnR partition.
NOTE: the change in the boot loder is needed only for the creation of this RnR partition.
For more info, please read the following RnR manual:

Feel free to ask any other question.

  • RV042 configuration with QuickVPN in Windows 7

    Hi,
I've been working on getting a client to Gateway configuration going for quite some time now.  Had it working with a different Cisco single wan router that failed.  The user replaced the router with an RV042 and we are trying to get the QuickVPN to once again connect to the router as it did before the replacement.  Previously we did connect successfully with Windows 7 clients.
    Router: RV042 v3 firmware 4.0.4.02-tm
    Quickvpn version 1.4.2.1

the interior LAN subnet is 192.168.0.X while mine is 192.168.10.X so that should not be a conflict.  I have allowed access to all ports on WAN1 in the router firewall at this point as well.
Not sure of the complete setup steps in the new router when it asks for IP, IP & FQDN, etc.  Also not clear  on what is happening when I get the lines stating the gateway was reached, then immediate that it was not reached.   Split personality?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Andrew

Well it worked a llittle.  I got the client in as well as my own.   The very next day we started getting message regarding being unable to reach the remote gateway.  Upon looking at the log we saw, on both machines, that the final ping to verify failed.  In the router we do allow ping to the router.  Not very impressed with the router or the QuickVPN software and the clients is about to return the router and demand a refund.  It should not be this difficult.  Working, then when nothing has changed it just stops working.  That's bull.  Now trying to setup a tunnel without QuickVPN but I do not understand the remote client setup settings on the 'client to gateway' setup.  When it says email or domain name what are they referring to?

  • Quickvpn RV120w windows 7 64bit problem

We are testing a VPN using quickvpn and a Rv120w router. We tested using windows XP and it worked wonderfully. Now, we are testing it using windows 7 64bit home premium and doesn't work. The problem doesn't seem to be originated within the router, since it works on a different computer (The one with xp ).
After searching in the forum many posts, we found nothing that could help us. The firewall is already on and the ICMP is allowed, ECO is enabled and the ports 443, 500, 4500 and 60443 are opened.
We wondering if you had any more ideas we could try. I find important to add that we had the exact same problem with the exact same configuration but using the WRV210. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer and help us out.

If you have one of the earier Mac Pro models like 1,1, 64 bit mode is not supported by Apple.
I got it working by decompressing the 3.0 installer, and manually installing 64 bit drivers in admi mode. After that, the updaters (3.1, 3.2) worked.
But with Lion, the Control Panel is broken, since it does not recognize the new disk information holding startup info, and refuses to load.
Do not use BootCamp 4 on the older configurations. I ended up not being able to boot, nor uninstall the disaster.

  • Configuration example for QuickVPN on Windows 8.1 and RV016

I have been using a gateway-to-gateway VPN for years between two RV016 routers. I am adding a few Surface Pro tablets for our salesman and I need to configure VPN clients on one of the routers. Can this be done? Can anyone provide an example of this setup?

The current release supports the white-space property for a text area and it is possible that the website uses white-space: pre instead of white-space: pre-wrap.
The former will prevent Firefox from wrapping the text.
You can check that in the Inspector via the right-click context menu.

I need to know very quickly as I amy need to return the RV180W and look for another solution that works with Windows 8.

Let me analyze all the steps i took :
Make sure the two networks are not overlapping , make sure they are on different subnets otherwise the router won't be able to tell apart ( i.e inside router netwrok 10.1.100.0/24 remote 10.1.101.0/24)
    On cisco router :
    1) Disable block wan requests
    2) Enable remote management
    3) Create Group vpn tunnel (group you put the local network , remote i used microsoft vpn client )
    On windows machine :
    1) Disable all other connections except the one that will be running on the vpn
    2) Windows firewall must be on (disable third party firewall)
    3) Make 2 exceptions in windows firewall a) one for incoming icmp all ips ( on adnvanced allow edge traversal)
                                                                    b) one for outgoing icmp for all ips
    4) Make a program excpetion for Quick VPN on firewall
    5) On the program right click -> properties -> Compatibility mode for windows vista sp2 and tick run as administrator
    Hope that helps.

  • QuickVPN 1.2.8 and Windows Vista

Hi, I have managed to install QuickVPN on Windows Vista, but It won´t connect to my WRV200 router. I have have enabled that the if the router is pinged it will reply but QuickVPN does not get connected. I have also studied the readme file and it says that the Windows Firewall needs to be enabled. I have disabled my ZoneAlarm 7.1 just in case, but it keeps on the "Verifying Network" messagebox but don´t get connected.
Does somebody knows how to solve this issue?

  • Stuttering in certain videos in iTunes for Windows 7 and Windows 8

I have stuttering in certain videos in the most recent version of iTunes in Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit.  The two specific videos I am talking about are video podcasts...."Windows Weekly HD", and "Security Now HD".  The strange thing is that I can play those videos in Windows Media Player, VLC, Zune, etc, and there is no stuttering at all.  I have no issue with stuttering audio with iTunes.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?  It is really annoying to have to use other software just to watch certain videos.  I appreciate your time.
Also...this has happened on fresh installs of Windows 7 & 8 on the same PC.  I have also tried removing and re-installing iTunes, and all of my drivers for my software are updated, and I have all the updates for Windows.

  • Quick VPN 1.2.5 and Windows Vista

Hi, I have managed to install QuickVPN on Windows Vista, but It won´t connect to my WRV200 router. I have have enabled that the if the router is pinged it will reply but QuickVPN does not get connected. I had no problems with XP, does somebody managed to get QuickVPN work under Windows Vista? Regards, Julix

I'm having the exact same problem too.
I can't get any help from the technical support line as well.
it works fine on the same connection with an XP computer, but vista won't go.
I'm trying to vpn from a relative's house, connected directly to the network router with an external ip of 149.x.x.x  the router is configured to have an internal subnet of 192.169.1.x
The vpn client connects, applies policy, and then sits waiting to verify connection.
This issue is NOT a problem with the gateway subnets being the same.

  • QuickVPN and RV042 not verifying network

I installed an RV042 this weekend at my home office that has dual DSL connections.  The unit works great except now I am offsite and I cannot get to the VPN.  The frustrating thing is that the quickVPN CONNECTS it just does not verify the connection via the remote ping.

As you can see the windows firewall is off, I have a 10.15.25 address on the client side, (The VPV side is 192.168.100.xxx).  So the tunnel connects okay but the network verification fails.  SO this means that 443 from where I am is open.  Of course who would block 443 anyhow?  Is there an access rule that needs to be created to allow ping to the local address of the router or something?  If so that is not in the documentation anywhere.  Help please?

    David,
This is definitely *not* resolved, and I am having the exact same problem with an RV042 (firmware version 1.3.12.19-tm) from a WIndows 7 Ultimate (v6.1.7100) platform.
All of the ports on the RV042 are fully available from the internet.  Here is an nmap scan of the entire RV042:
    C:\Users\markm>nmap 173.13.184.201
    Starting Nmap 5.00 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2010-02-10 22:12 Pacific Standard Time

    60443/tcp open   unknown
Here's the screen shot of QuickVPN (not much to tweak):
When try and connect, it get's all the way through everything, but hangs on "Verifying network..."  This is the classic "can't ping the server" problem...  FWIW, I inserted a copy of my QuickVPN logfile at the end of this post.
I see a lot of guys trying crazy stuff, but no answers, or even suggestions that seem to understand the problem.  Maybe I should turn this around a little...
Has *anyone* successfully connected using QuickVPN under Windows?  If so, can you please describe your configuration?  I suspect this tool worked once in '98, and Linsys/Cisco still thinks it works.
As best I can tell, the tool simply hasn't worked since at least WinXP, maybe Win2K.
    Helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllp!

  • RV180 QuickVPN

    Hi,
I'm having issues getting QuickVPN to connect. I think it's an issue pinging the gateway but I'm not 100% sure. We are using Comcast Business, I have placed the RV180 in the DMZ.
    The setup looks like this:
Internet -> Comcast router -> RV180 (DHCP) -> rest of network.
    Basically it hangs at
    Joe

Windows firewall has nothing to do with it. If Win firewall was blocking a port it would notify you. In any case these ESP packets are originating from my machine, so WIn firewall would not block return packets.
    Update:
back at home, I have two network connections, Ethernet and Wireless. Ethernet doesn't work, and I don't see any ESP (PING) packets going out on the wire! I suspect it's trying to send packets out on the Wireless connection which is also connected to the router. The routing metric though favors Ethernet of course, and also the connection was initiated on Ethernet, so you'd think QuickVPN and Windows would continue to test the remote ping on the EThernet connection.
Switch to Wireless and QuickVPN works fine, and I see the ESP packets go out AND response come back from the remote gateway! Interestingly enough, however, there is no route to my remote router in the 'route print' report. Should there not be a route over to the tunnel for traffic to my remote subnet? There is when I use PPTP instead of QuickVPN.
Well, apparently QuickVPN does not use tunnel mode encapsulation using routing tables. Instead it is using Windows Firewall to create rules for which traffic is to be encrypted, using rules like IPChains forwarding rules on Linux. That's why there is no route in the routing table.  You can check in Windows Firewall and find the Security rules there... with the tunnel endpoints defined as you would expect.
Switching back and forth between WiFi and Ethernet,  now both Ethernet and WiFi work, and I cannot figure out what changed. ESP  packets get response on both interfaces. So now I have verified QuickVPN to work thru wifi and ethernet at my house. But trying through WiFi hotspot on Verizon SGS3, no can do. Outgoing ESP packets from my laptop never get a response back. I conclude this is a problem with either Verizon or the SGS3.
