  • SCOM 2012 Linux Monitoring - RPCBIND, RPCIDMAP, RPCSTAT services not running

    We are running SCOM 2012 SP1 and added a test Linux server running Red Hat Enterprise 6.3.  SCOM is reporting that the server is in Critical health because the following three services are not running.
    1) Process Rpcbind Service Health - Rpcbind Mapper Not Running
    2) Process Rpcidmap Service Health - NFSv4 ID Name Mapper Not Running
    3) Process Rpcstat Service Health - NSM Status Monitor Not Running
    My question is that are these services required to be running in order for SCOM to monitor the Linux servers properly?  If yes, can you please give brief explaination as to why so I can explain that to our Linux Administrator.  The Linux Administrator
    is saying that we do not run these services on any of the Linux servers because they are not needed.  If infact these services are not needed, how can I have SCOM ignore the critical error messages?  Thanks

    Yup, generally running. I'm assuming you've done a basic install of RHEL 6. All processes listed above are enabled by default on a RHEL 6 install if you take the default settings. If someone is just getting started you can pretty much guarantee
    they will do a basic install of RHEL 6 and this will not be an issue.
    Could it be done better... sure but at what point do you stop? We could discover all services running on the system and start monitoring them out of the box but what are important and what are not to each customer? The idea is to give you some basic monitoring
    on a default install based on what each OS provider starts on a "default" install. If this does not suite your needs SCOM is very configurable and adding a custom service monitor is very easy to configure along with disabling existing ones.
    If you'd like to provide feedback on this feel free to open a support ticket with Microsoft and file what we call a 'Design Change Request' [DCR]. We go though these prior to starting each update to SCOM. No guarantee it will get fixed/changed as we do have
    priorities but we are listening.

  • Can not run reports on Linux OS

    Hi All,
    We have running Oracle Forms and Reports Services 10g (9.0.4) on Windows 2003 Server.
    The Application Works fine, and reports are generated successfully.
    But when we access the same application by using Linux OS (RHEL 4.4),
    The forms works fine but Linux OS could not run the report.
    This seems to be a configuration problem.
    Any Clues.
    Thanks and Looking Forward.

    Check rwserlvet.conf here you will see comment out <!-- ... --> IN the part for the reports engine two lines, one is the Path for Reports the other is for TMP for reports, try to uncomment path and use this, then restart the reports server and see if it works.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

    In the 10g OEM Application Server Control, the System Components item for Forms has the check box disabled and Forms Status is "Down".

    Maybe starting the OC4J is a good idea ....
    Source the valid AS environment, then issue :
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl status
    You will probably notice that the OC4J is not running ...
    in this case issue :
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startporc ias-component=OC4J

  • Tomcat server is not running automatically

    Hi BO experts,
    I have installed SAP Business Objects XI 3.1 in my system and noticed that Tomcat server is not running in Central Configuration Manager where the status is "Stopped". If I start manually also it's not starting (In properties, the startup type is - Automatic).
    So I went this path "E:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\bin" and double clicked "startup.bat" then I am able to login into Infoview. Could please someone explain that is there any possible way to run Tomcat automatally so that i do not need to start up manually every time?
    Thanks in advance!!

    I'm assuming that whoever installed the Apex Listener installed it under the Apache Tomcat application server. This isn't officially supported by Oracle, but it does work. You start Tomcat by executing "startup.bat" in its bin directory on Windows or "startup.sh" on Linux or other Unix-like OSes. In Windows, it will keep running as long as the command window is open (but you can minimize it) or I believe there is a way to set it up as a service - I'm not a Windows guru. In *nix, you can add an ampersand to the command to keep it running in background, or set it up to run as a daemon.
    Altogether, you probably need someone to learn more about how to run Tomcat if the person who set it up for you is no longer available. There is plenty of information on-line - just use Google or Bing.

  • Automatic_Gather_Stats is not running in 11g Database.

    Hi
    we are having a 11.2.0.3 rac database on LINUX x86-64 machine. Two days back on wards we noticed that Automatic_Gather_Stats for the database is not running. When we chech the last analyzed for the schemas it is showing 28th NOV last day. After that its has not ran. From yesterday onwards we are running it manually. What could be the reason !
    I had checked the DBA_AUTOTASK_CLIENT. The auto optimizer stats collection belong to group ORA$AT_WGRP_OS is enables. What else I should check . Kindly let me know.
    Thanks

    Rather it has 'auto optimizer stats collection' as a new feature on 11g.

  • Have terminal NOT run a script when it loads

    I recently wrote a basic shell script and saved it as a .command file to run from the desktop. Since then, whenever I open the terminal it automatically runs the script then exits the terminal. If I hide the file (mv pt-noplugs.command .ptnoplugs.command) it simply opens the terminal and closes it immediately. I have tried changing the default shell from bash to something else but this doesn't seem to make a difference. I also don't seem to have a .bashrc file when it normally is /home/user/.bashrc (I'm used to linux). Any help would be appreciated. Below is the script:
    # Shell Script to start Pro Tools HD with no waveshell Plug-In
    echo "*"
    echo "* Script: pt-noplugs.command"
    echo "* Please Leave This Window Open Until ProTools Has Exited"

    mv Waveshell-DAE_5.9.1.dpm ../Plug-Ins
    echo "*"

  • Jar not running is sarge and apache-ant  shows error of package not found

    Hello,
    First of all I am not a java programmer. I work in C/C++/C#.
    Currently I am dealing a game written in java (1.5) using netbeans 5.5.0 under windows xp. My target is to compile in my development machine and run in the clients machine. everything works fine in windows xp. I open the netbeans ide, load the necessary class libraries, build the project and run it. it runs without any problem.
    The problem begins when I run the same project from linux (fedora). it doest not run. It shows some error.
    <error platform="fedora 7">

    But when I open this same project in netbeans and resolve the dependencies with class libraries it works ok after compiling.
    I can run it from console (java -jar ...)

    I see that netbeans uses ant to compile project in the background.
    then I tried using ant to compile.
    doing only `#ant compile` where build.xml resides does the compilation.
    after that I try to run it (by java -jar ...). again the above error shows up.
    What would I do?
    If I compile it with netbeans in machine A then it runs well in A but not in machine B.
    If I compile it with ANT in machine A then it doesn't run in A, no chance for machine B.
    the contents of my build xml is here

    There exist several targets which are by default empty and which can be
    used for execution of your tasks. These targets are usually executed
    before and after some main targets. They are:
    -pre-init: called before initialization of project properties
    -post-init: called after initialization of project properties
    -pre-compile: called before javac compilation
    -post-compile: called after javac compilation
    -pre-compile-single: called before javac compilation of single file
    -post-compile-single: called after javac compilation of single file
    -pre-compile-test: called before javac compilation of JUnit tests
    -post-compile-test: called after javac compilation of JUnit tests
    -pre-compile-test-single: called before javac compilation of single JUnit test
    -post-compile-test-single: called after javac compilation of single JUunit test
    -pre-jar: called before JAR building
    -post-jar: called after JAR building
    -post-clean: called after cleaning build products
    (Targets beginning with '-' are not intended to be called on their own.)
    Example of inserting an obfuscator after compilation could look like this:
    <target name="-post-compile">
    <obfuscate>
    <fileset dir="${build.classes.dir}"/>
    </obfuscate>
    </target>
    For list of available properties check the imported
    nbproject/build-impl.xml file.
    Another way to customize the build is by overriding existing main targets.
    The targets of interest are:
    -init-macrodef-javac: defines macro for javac compilation
    -init-macrodef-junit: defines macro for junit execution
    -init-macrodef-debug: defines macro for class debugging
    -init-macrodef-java: defines macro for class execution
    -do-jar-with-manifest: JAR building (if you are using a manifest)
    -do-jar-without-manifest: JAR building (if you are not using a manifest)
    run: execution of project
    -javadoc-build: Javadoc generation
    test-report: JUnit report generation
    An example of overriding the target for project execution could look like this:
    <target name="run" depends="NetBeansApplication-impl.jar">
    <exec dir="bin" executable="launcher.exe">
    <arg file="${dist.jar}"/>
    </exec>
    </target>
    Notice that the overridden target depends on the jar target and not only on
    the compile target as the regular run target does. Again, for a list of available
    properties which you can use, check the target you are overriding in the
    nbproject/build-impl.xml file.
    -->
    <target name="-post-jar">
    <jar update="true" destfile="${dist.jar}">

    About my thread subject, my clients machine is a debian sarge 3.0 and when I compiled it there with ANT It says, "normalwindow" package not found. other 2 errors were due to "normalwindow".

    Hello,
    I am trying to run my annotation processor using ant.
    I already built the processor, the javax.annotation.processor.Processor file is in the correct place with the correct content.
    The jar with the processor is in the classpath (i can see it in ant -v), but it does not process my classes. in fact, i get the warning:
    warning: Annotation processing without compilation requested but no processors were found.Do i have to specify -processor or -processorpath or can i just leave it to the default classpath scanning?When -processor is not given, a service loader is used to find the annotation processors (if any). In addition to the class files of the process, to allow your processor to be found as a service, make sure you've also provided the needed META-INF data in the jar file. The general service file format is described in
    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/util/ServiceLoader.html
    That said, I'd recommend setting an explicit processor path separate from your general classpath.

  • Pyzor Not Running Question

    I am thinking this could be a permission issue.
    I have installed the pyzor files as listed at- http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/SpamAssassin_on_Mac_OS_X_Server
    There were no issues with the install but when I run spamassassin -D --lint I see the following
    [7661] dbg: pyzor: pyzor is not available: no pyzor executable found
    [7661] dbg: pyzor: no pyzor found, disabling Pyzor
    Again during the test it found the gdbm. The only thing I can think of is a permission issue. Not sure if anyone else has run across this.
    Oh and here is the entire log from the spamassassin -D --lint

    Hi,
    As you  mentioned that your computer shows activated successfully in Properties of computer but the error message still appeared to notify you.
    If the messages you see come and go, you have what's called a 'race condition' where the Software Protection Service and another process fight over resources - if the SPPSVC doesn't win the race in a given time, it will throw the notification until it manages
    to re-test.
    Please try to restore your system back to the point when it work fine. If the issue persists, please try to scan your system to see if there is any malwares or virus.
    Also, let try this fix to check Software Protection service:

  • Service not running logged an alert?

    Hello,
    There is a service on a Linux machine I don't want it to run.
    I am getting an alert from SCOM:
    Alert: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Process Klog Monitor Alert
    Resolution state: New
    Source: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)
    Path: Server
    Last modified by: System
    Last modified time: 4/21/2014 6:54:58 AM
    Alert description: The KLOGD - Kernel Message Logging daemon on server Server is not running.
    I could disable the alert for this service on this server Server but anyway to prevent the server Server to send this information. I know in Windows if the startup type is set to "Automatic" SCOM is looking for a service running, if the Startup
    type is set to manual no check.
    Do we have the same type of check in Linux?
    Thanks,
    Dom
    System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager

    Dom,
    Doesn't work the same as Windows. Just override the monitor in the MP and disable it from monitoring the klog daemon.

    -Steve

    Is your crontask not running at all or is the scheduled task failing?
    Hey Tommy I sent you some replies yesterday; don't know what happened to them. Yes I can see that crond runs every ten minutes. Also when I created the crontab file using the command you sent here I could see that it was running every minute by looking at root mail in /var/log.
    Do you have execute permission set on the scripts?
    Yes
    Any info in /var/log/messages or e-mail?

  • Svrcfg show Job Server not running

    Hi,
    I am currently running Data Services 12.1.1.0 on Linux RH AS 4.6. I have noticed an issue and wondering whether there is something I am doing wrong.
    I installed DS and configured the JS. I have successfully started, stopped and started this again, via the svrcfg utility and it clearly states "running". Then I log out of Putty and log back into the into server hosting DS. When I go to the svrcfg utility again, go to control job server it reports a status of not running. If I exit the tool and type ps -fu <username> I can see my Job Servive/Engine as I would expect and jobs still run fine?
    Does anyone know what might be causing this?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi,
    I am also getting the same issue. If you login into putty and check the status by which terminal you have started shows "RUNNING", if you login through another session with same user it shows "NOT RUNNING".
    Output of ps -o user,fname |grep -v grep|grep AL_JobSe is
    bodi     AL_JobSe
    I am running the . .al_env.sh manually (not from profile!).
    Thanks

    ArunThings that you'll need.
    1. JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES to be non-zero
    2. A commit after submitting the job
    3. The job not to be broken.
    4. don't schedule very frequently (say <5s) if the os is Linux :( ).
    I'd check in the above order.
