RX 800 PRO PROBLEMS

I have recently had a problem with my RX 800.
The problems is as follows:
PROBLEM:
When booting my PC I receive the following error:
'YOU HAVE NOT CONNECTED THE POWER CABLE TO YOUR VIDEO CARD, PLEASE REFER TO THE 'GETTING STARTED GUIDE' FOR PROPER HARDWARE INSTALLATION.
I have checked the cables and know that they are working as they work on other VGA cards.
The error started one day after re-installing the card into the PC. The card hasn't worked since.
Any help, or if you can point me in the direction of someone who can help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Neil Elliot

As you haven't given specs...
So here goes a couple of guesses...
Your using a power adapter that converts two molex connections into one PCIe connector and the molexs you chose were already used by something else...
Your PSU does not have enough 12v amps to run that particular card...
You have a bad card or PSU...
Of course you could give specs like we ask in the forum rules and maybe get a more specific answer. Afterall we aren't mind readers nor are we in front of your rig... This is the internet afterall. HeHeHe

  • Ati 9600 Pro Problem Sloved

Had serious problems getting my Radeon 9600 Pro to work with my MSI 875 Board.
System crashed after 5 seconds of play and sometimes after 10-15 minutes of gameplay. But it never crashed when I was surfing the net or stuff like that.
The solution  for me was Zalman heatpipe cooling for the ATI card and a new 360 watt PSU to replace my old 340 watt PSU. And now my card is stable as ****
I guess the 9600 PRO problem is a PSU problem and if you take a look at the stock fan I think most of you would like to replace that one as well.

I am glad that you fixed the problem ...I also bet that the PSU was a greater factor in the fix ...Good job "RKbauge"!!...Sean REILLY875

  • MacBook Pro Problem with screws I think

So I recently saw my MacBook Pro casing lifting up and when I lifted up to look inside I saw the screw is attached to nothing. So I went on google and looked up the shell and there should be a slot where the screw on the left hand side screws into. I'm taking my Mac into a Apple Authorized Reseller to put a 500GB HDD and might ask them to fix it. Will they charge me as they charged me bloody 800 Bucks to replace a monitor and getting the hard drive done will cost around €260. So do you think they will fix it for free? Here are some pictures. Also I have Apple Care

Hope Apple gets it sorted out for you. Having computer problems (sort of like having car problems on a long road trip) is not much fun and very frustrating.
Thanks for leaving feedback in Apple Discussions by marking the "solved" post.

  • Western Digital My Book Pro Problem

I have a new My Book Pro 500GB hard drive attached to my iMac, connected through the firewire 800 sockets. The drive has been reformated as Mac OS Journaled. On waking the iMac from sleep, the hard drive has dis-mounted and there is an error message warning that the drive wasn't put away properly.
Has anyone had the same problem and solved it?

    Hello GeeJay
You should eject/unmount the external before sleeping from the drop down menu as that sleeps both the display and computer.....
    Dennis
You should also be able to unmount the MyBook drive by pressing the big button on the front. If this doesn't work for you, you may need to download and install the driver from WD. There was a version of it already on the MyBook when you first used it but i) it would have been the Windows version and b) you have since reformatted of course. It's easy enough to download it again from WD though.
    Good Luck

  • Firewire 800 general problem?

Hello, I have a BIG problem in my hands and I'm wondering if there's anyone out there to help me.
I have 3 LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Drive eSATA 1.5Gbits, FireWire 800, FireWire 400, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 that I use to backup my music. I copy my music in the first one and use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the information when I turn on the second and third disks. I only turn on the disks when I'm using them, the rest of the time they're all off.
Today I came into the office to backup a new CD but got an error message when I turned on the first HD: "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" and 3 options: Initialize (which takes me to Disk Utility to see the brand of my disk listed but no details about it), Ignore and Eject.
This happens with all 3 disks whether they're chained or not. Sometimes I get this error message, other times I get no message at all and just can't see the disks. I tried to plug them into 2 different twin 27" iMacs and 1 MBP 13" with different cables and power supplies. These are their characteristics:
    For both iMacs:
    Mac OS X 10.6.8
    3.2 GHz Intel Core i3
    8GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    For the MBP:
    Mac OS X 10.7.3
2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
But the same problem occurs: I either get the error message or just don't see the disks at all.
Then I moved the disks to another iMac with the following characteristics:
    Mac OS X 10.7.3
    3.1GHz Intel Core i5
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
And they worked. All 3 disks with the same cables and power supplies I'd been using. So I thought "Maybe it's a Snow Leopard thing" and tried to make the disks work with the MBP (which has Lion) and they worked again! I moved the disks to their original location and once again plugged them to the MBP to finally work with them and the problem showed up again. Same error message for one of the disks, the other 2 simply don't show up.
I also tried making them work in the following Mac Pro:
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
    Dual 2.7 GHz PowerPC G5
    4 GB DDR SDRAM
    And I still couldn't.
This is all through FW800 which only worked that time I tried it with the third iMac. The only other time I got the HDs to work was plugging them to the Mac Pro but through FW400. I also tried plugging a Little Big Disk through FW800 and USB to the MBP and it didn't work. Then I plugged it into the Mac Pro using USB and there it is, with CCC slowly making the backup.
My workmate is telling me now that last week she plugged in a different pair of LaCie d2 Quadra to the MacPro and she couldn't make them work through FW800 and had to settle for FW400.
So my question is: Is there some kind of general problem with FW800 that I don't know about? Or is it a thing with LaCie? Like you see, my problem is not definite, I can't say "It works under these circumstances and it doesn't work under these" because it's a bit intermitent and annoying enough to not let me use the HDs at all. I sadly don't have another brand of HD to see if this occurs. I've run tests all morning in all the computers and I can't figure out the source of the problem. There are no software updates available for any of the computers.
Is there anyone out there with the same problem? If it's a general problem, are there any posts about it? I can't find one.
Sorry for the long read! I'm going to take a look at the LaCie support page to see if there's anything there.
Thanks to anyone who read all this

Well, external WD drives (or rather the cheap enclosures they use) aren't necessarily or generally a good way to rule out problems, but may be in this case.
In any case, have you tried two things: a) a different (brand new) FW cable and b) an SMC or PRAM reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Either/both sometimes help with FW or USB ports problems.

  • Yoga 3 pro : problem connecting to HD TV with micro/mini HDMI to HDMI

I purchased a YOGA 3 PRO (512GB) and couldn't be happier with how light and slim this jewel is. The CPU works fast and overall it's a gret UltraBook.
    BUT
I just can't connect my Yoga 3 Pro to my TV. I purchased this Ultra Book at BEST BUY (this model is apparently an "exclusive" of Best Buy), and since I knew i need to connect it to an external monitor to do real work on photoshop, I also purchased an INSIGNIA micro-HDMI to HDMI cable.
As shown below, my 32" HD TV (one of the latest models from LG / ref. 32LB5800) is recognized by Windows 8.1 and the INTEL HD Graphics 5300 Display driver (which i updated to the latest version 10.18.10.3960), but unfortunately the TV says "NO SIGNAL".
    Link to image
I've tried to connect the Insighnia mini-HDMI to HDMI cable in all 3 HDMI inputs on my TV, but same pathetic result. The first input is HDMI ARC, the second one is regular HDMI and the third one is for mobile devices (HDMI MHL), but all 3 returned the same "NO SIGNAL".
So I figured maybe it was the TV. Thus i plugged my Yoga 3 Pro to a Pioneer Plasma TV that was about 3-4 years old, straight to one of HDMI inputs and same thing, no image. However, Windows 8.1 found the TV and even suggests the ideal resolution.
In both cases the TV model was found by Windows 8.1 and shown under the "Screen Resolution" menu. I selected "Extend these displays" to use the TV as a main monitor, but of course this doesn't help the case.
So i started digging this forum and read a lot of coomplaints about the previous version of the YOGA PRO and that the micro-HDMI plug was poorly designed and the cable connector needed to be "trimmed" a little by 1mm or so to allow it plug fully into the port. So i tried that too, and even though i succesfully removed 1mm of rubber around my Insignia cable connector, it didn't help whatsoever since apparently, the new YOGA 3 PRO doesn't have this issue any longer, its design solved indeed that weakness of its predecessor.
So I'm asking: what the hell is the problem then? it's driving me crazy. I've literrally spent the past 6 hours trying to figure it out, but without any success. This forum has ZERO post about a problem of connection of a YOGA 3 PRO to an HDTV. I know it's a very recent model, but still, I can't believe to be the only one experiencing this issue.
If I don't find a solution quickly I'm afraid I'll have no other choice but to return it. It's unbelievable that both the latest iterations of the LENOVO YOGA PRO are having issues (likely different) connecting to an HD TV using the mini/micor HDMI port.
Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but LENOVO better get their act together and fix this stat!
UPDATE: i also noticed that when the cable is plugged into the micro-HDMI port, there's no more sound on the ultrabook. I played a video while the cable was plugged in and NO SOUND. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I would assume connecting the Yoga 3 Pro with the cable into the TV makes it believe that the sound shall be directed towards the TV now, hence the disabled sound on the Ultrabook, even though on the receiving side, the TV still doesn't get any signal from that cable, neither video nor audio.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

well it turned out the culprit was the INSIGNIA Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable sold by Best Buy. I tried another cable brand and now it's working just fine! Go figure...

and, i might add, since it appears he is still running 10.4.8 and may not have done the 10.4.10 update, it would seem to narrow down the problem to possibly bad airport firmware or bad airport driver. something that apple needs to address. i suggest you call appleCare and get a case number started and join the club.

  • New macbook pro problem, plz help

hey everyone.i just bought the new macbook pro last week, 15" i7core 2ghz. i am a very serious musician, and im going going to university next year to study music, the whole reason i bought this computer is for recording, all the musicians i know who are serious/professionals use macs. when i first turn on my computer everything is fine, but once i plug my guitar in through my zoom g2.1u pedal, garageband freezes and i have to force quit it, this just started happening within the past 2 days.for the first week i recorded with it fine.  it was also happening yesterday without even plugging in my guitar at all. when this happens the internet also shuts down. when i open safari it doesnt say you are not conncted to the internet, it just has a blank white page. when this happens everything else isnt working right either, everything is slow and laggy. i paid alot of friggin money for this thing and i wanted to keep it clean the only things ive done to it were, i took some mp3, pdf and guitar pro files from my old windows xp onto my mac through a usb stick, downloaded a mp3 from online and set a cool backround as my desktop. I thought macs were supposed to be resilient? or do i just have a defective one. these problems are quite specific but if i cant use garageband/record with my mac theres not a rly a point of me having one.
i hope someone can help me out here.

  • MacBook Pro Problems at Start Up: Please Help!!

    Hellos and Saluations,
Lads and gents: I first want to say what a brilliant board you all have here. Congrats to the admins and mods for a splendid job!
My new friends, I have a MacBook Pro (Intel) that I purchased a little over 1 year ago. I was still running Tiger when, about 6 weeks ago, upon opening the book, I started getting a gray screen that would stay there for a few seconds, then allowing me to start working. Fast forward to 4 weeks ago. The same thing happened, but it got stuck on the gray screen. The next morning it had the same symptoms, but eventually after messing with the mouse pad it came back on. Unfortunately, today it's doing the same thing, and it's stuck on gray.
Being a noob to this forum doesn't make me a board noob in general. I did some searches on this and have tried a number of things from other thread suggestions.
    Things I've tried:
    A. At start up, holding the Option, Apple, P, R buttons.
    B. At start up, holding the Shift button
    C. At start up, holding the C button (this produced an audible sound only)
    D. There is no Apple icon on the screen, just gray/blue
    E. There is no spinning wheel of death
    F. I haven't spilled any liquid on it, nor dropped it
A couple of weeks ago, I took the computer to the Apple store. They ran a stress test and tried to replicate the issue, but couldn't. I was advised that they determined the issue to not be hardware/hard drive related; but that the problem was most likely software based. At this time I took the opportunity to upgrade to Leopard. For a little over a week the book was good to go -- no issues at start up. However, not even a week later, when I returned home from work the issue reared it's ugly head again. After a couple attempts at hard shut downs I gave up. The next morning, same thing except that it eventually came back on...
Fast forward to last night.. the MacBook Pro has been on the gray/bluish/greenish screen for close to 24 hours now. I've tried re-booting several times now; pulling the battery then restarting, restarting in safe mode, letting the battery go completely dead then powering up after plugging it in, etc. NOTHING works...
This really fails. The book is only 14 months old and only used for a couple of hours/day. The "genius" at the Apple store advised me that this issue isn't hardware related, but I'm beginning to think that it's a video card issue, which, if I'm not mistaken, is incorporated into the motherboard -- making it a hardware issue. I'm gonna be hells p!ssed if they tell me it's the video card or the screen. Both will be stoopid expensive and, after only 14 months of light use, very very disappointing to their quality.
Anyways, sorry if this is long winded, but I don't know any other way of explaining..
Thanks in advance for any help that people can provide! Again, great forum too!
    Darren

So yea. Just returned from the Apple store. They've deduced that the culprit to this issue is my video card. Whilst they were diagnosing the problem, I let the genius know that this is my first Mac product; that I run an international mail order business with 45 windows based pc's; that this book was somewhat of a trial to determine whether or not we would switch to Mac for our network; that we have a deal with Dell on the table to provide us with all new Dell computers; and finally that, given this catastrophic qc failure, we would more than likely be going with Dell (depending on if Apple was going to take care of me on this or not).
Apparently this got through to the genius, as he advised me that, given the book was only 1 month out of warranty, they would be replacing the motherboard pro-bono. This was greatly appreciated by me (and my company) and we will be in talks with Apple to have them provide us with our new network. This whole ordeal, while somewhat insignificant to the overall day-to-day issues of my life, still had me rather concerned about the quality control, and especially customer service of Apple/Mac. I have a new found positive outlook on their service at this time and will report my dealings on all of the international forums that my company is a prominent member/vendor on.
Last,I will continue to update this as it still offers to add to the comprehensive knowledge base of MacBook issues and Apple customer service.

  • Huge MacBook Pro Problem - Please Help!

Okay I have so many problems I don't even know where to begin.
I bought my 13" MacBook Pro in August of 2009. Two days after I got it, it completely stopped working. I took it to an Apple authorized repair shop, who told me I had spilled iced tea all over it and it was ruined, never to be fixed again. Long story short, I took it to a different Apple authorized repair shop, only to find out that the battery had leaked inside of it. When I got the computer back two months later, it would only remain powered on as long as it was connected to the charger. I took it back and had it fixed. All said and done, I finally had a working MacBook Pro in January of 2009. (Although much of the delay had to do with me living hundreds of miles from the repair shop).
Fast forward to July of 2011. Mountain Lion, I believe it was, had been released, and I was going to upgrade from Leopard. I worked in a Museum and my boss said that I could use their DVD of Snow Leopard to upgrade, so I could download Mountain Lion through the App Store, since I was using my computer for work a lot and they had a license. I upgraded and I have had nothing but nightmares since. For the past year and a half, my computer is constantly freezing, applications quit unexpectedly, and if I have more than one tab open and happen to do something safari doesn't agree with, I get a notice that "Webpages are unresponsive. Please click continue to force reload" or something along those lines which then forces every site in all tabs to reload but often just causes safari to crash. Furthermore after Safari crashes when I open it again, I have to leave it for AT LEAST ten minutes before the app becomes responsive. However, if I force quit safari immediately after I open it (post-crash), then open it again - it works fine. Weird, I know.
Now I have some really big problems. My computer is constantly going into a kernel panic, where I get the grey screen informing me to restart (and by constantly, I mean I'm shocked I've been able to type this much and not lost it all to a restart warning). Sometimes when I restart as soon as I log in and get the "you had to restart because of a problem, send a report to apple" dialogue, I immediately have to restart again. Sometimes when I restart, I get the circle/slash and it won't turn on. And lastly now, in the last hour (of which I have had to restart twice), it refuses to boot in anything but safe mode. I'm not holding down the shift key.
Oh and another thing of note - it refuses to open some programs, giving various errors; it refuses to allow me to move around files (error code -50); and it refuses to let me empty the trash (error code -50 again). I'm trying to free up a ton of space on my harddrive but it's proving difficult because of my MacBook's refusal to cooperate.
It's all backed up so I can do what I need to do to fix or alter this situation. My boyfriend wants me to just rescue everything from my harddrive and buy an air, but I'm having a lot of trouble considering that because of the amount of issues I've had with both this computer and my iPhone Bring back the iBook! They were the best.
NOTE: I had to restart my computer twice since I started writing this. Thank goodness for autosave on the apple communities.

    Thanks.
This is what I'm getting for my most recent:

  • I've got a mac pro problem with the starting up, but also a red light on the logic board solidly on. Its not among the diagnostic led. It's located near the BT adapter and the front fans. Also the fans run loud also. any solutions?

    Hi
I've got a mac pro late 2006, and i am having problem with it for quite a while now. the problem i am facing is the start up process, and the red light on the logic board. Earlier I've got the two led on the diagnostic leds 5 and 6 turned on without the diagnostic button being pressed, and i think those are related to the processors overtemp. I've managed to solve that by, removing the processors and re applying the thermal compound on the heatsink. what i have left now with is the red light on  the logic board at the time i plugged in the power. At the same time when this light come on, the power indicator at the front panel come on as well. i am not sure what is this light relates to. We've replace the power supply too, and gone through the SMC reset but seems no help.
Any idea on the problem? I am desperate about it, and i will be greatful if anyone can help..
thanks and hope for your best solutions
    Kari

I can't help directly with your problem but you might check here http://tim.id.au/laptops/apple/macpro/ for a service manual which could answer your question.

  • Acrobat 11 Pro - problem with right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" output folder

I'm migrating from one machine running Windows XP Pro with Acrobat 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro with Acrobat 11 Pro.
On the XP machine, when I right-click on a document and select "convert to Adobe PDF" the process works just fine - it always outputs the file to the target destination I have set in the Adobe PDF printer definition.
On the Windows 7 Pro/Acrobat 11 Pro machine, the exact same settings are ignored: the PDF will always end up in the same folder as the source file.
Both the source folder and the destination folder are on one of my office's networked drives.
Under the Printing Preferences, I have the output folder address set the same on both machines, so it *should* go to the right location on the new machine.
Oddly enough, on the Acrobat 11 Pro machine, if I select Adobe PDF as the default printer and do a test print, it *does* print to the correct folder!
    This has got me stumped!
    Thoughts?
(update from later in the day)
If Adobe PDF is selected as the default printer, I *can* select a bunch of documents, right-click, select "print", and Word will open up, and they'll print to the correct target folder.
So, it's "just" the right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" that doesn't work correctly.

The reinstall is typically the last ditch effort to do. The first step is Help>Repair and Help>Updates. As far as Office 2013, the PDF Maker of AA X is not compatible and you can only print. In your list of errors it showed a problem with AcroTray.exe. As a first step, go to the print and select print-to-file. The file will be a PS file (maybe with a PRN extension). Once the printer if finished, open the file in Distiller to complete the process. If that is successful, then the problem is with AcroTray. Check your running tasks to be sure AcroTray is indeed running. If not, that is likely the problem. If it is, then restart it (it is located in the Acrobat folder). AcroTray provides the interface between the PS creation and Distiller to automate the process of creating the PDF.

  • *SOLUTION* to (at least some) "HP Scanjet Pro" problems in 10.6

    Good day to everyone!
I have found a workaround for the problems experienced by people attempting to use HP Scanjet scanners (at least the 4850, which is what I use, I suspect greatly this will work for others as well).
Basically it is to install the earlier driver posted on HP's bewildering website.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us &prodNameId=447374&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=447373&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEn vOID=219
They have a "driver" section above the "software" section that basically contains an earlier version of the Scan Pro software and Universal Driver for it. It's listed for Mac OS 10.3 - 10.4 only, however I can verify that it works correctly on my 10.6 install.
In fact, unbeknown to me, that had actually been the driver I'd been using all along in Mac OS 10.5 (I guess I upgraded when they made the initial universal binary for Mac OS 10.4 and never upgraded from that).
Anyway, for my HP Scanjet 4850, it works fine.

When I convert my movie files using Quicktime Pro I encounter a problem. After the converting is over the video works on my iPod, but the audio track is lost and there is no sound. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks
    -Jason

Check to make sure it is not a muxed mpeg by opening the source file in QT Player and looking at MovieInfo in the Windows menu. If it is a muxed mpeg you will have to use something other than QT since it will not export the sound from mpegs. Some people have had good results with this freeware, but there are other Windows programs starting to appear for iPod conversion:

  • Windows XP Pro problem

I need some advice. I bought Core Java I by Horstmann, but downloaded Java from Sun's website because the disk did not have everything I needed. I was previously able to run Java programs on a Windows 95 machine. I now have a Windows XP Pro machine. In the chapter on installation, they have the following direction for Win 95/98:
"Under Win 95/98, place a line such as the following at the end of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
    SET PATH=c:\jdk\bin;%PATH%"
The only other Windows direction is for NT/2000, so I assume the 95/98 solution is best. Dell tech support told me to put the line in my WIN.INI file because Win XP does not have an equivalent AUTOEXEC.BAT file, so that was the file I used.
The book also says to type "java -version" in a shell window, which I did and I got back my version and everything, so I don't think this is a problem.
However, I have a problem when I try to run a Java program. In a shell window, I change to the proper directory without error. Also, I have looked at the program I am trying to run in Textpad, so I know I have the program. The book I have says to type "javac Welcome.java", but I get the old "'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
The book says the next step is to type "java Welcome", and when I do that, I get "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Welcome." It would appear that this command was executed properly, it just didn't work as intended because no Welcome.class exists. So again, it looks to me like the path is working correctly, but the compiler is not. Please give me some help, I'm stuck on page 25 of this monstrous book, and can go no further.

The only other Windows direction is for NT/2000,
so I assume the 95/98 solution is best.you were wrong; XP comes from the NT line of products.
here are the "official" installation instructions:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/install-windows.html#install
finding that "java" runs but "javac" not is normal because the SDK installer places a copy of the interpreter in the windows system directories that are already listed in PATH.
