RX800XL-VT2D256E HDTV Question

I bought this card a while ago, like 3 months. I've enjoyed it very well, but up until this point have never tried the "HDTV" part of it out. The provided user guide is laughable on the subject, as a matter of fact it doesn't say a damn thing! But anywats, thats besides the point. I was wondering if you people here, knew how to hook this up properly. I've done S-videobefore, on my old card. But this HDTV one, is alot more interesting. I have that red square that comes off of the rod chord thing. On one end it has S-VID in, and Composite in, and an HDTV on/off switch. And on the other end it has S-VID out and Composite out. So is it as easy as hooking up my composite video connectors fomr my PC to my TV's video in section (one that supports HDTV obviosuly) and choosing the tv as my display? Or? Did I miss sometihng?

I have the same problem, the video capture works from windows media but i can't see that well from a 2 inch window.  I need an software that can show my video full screen without saving it.
As far as i know it doesnt come with a workng Vivo software.  There is one (in the CD) but it just messes up the catalyst drivers.

  • [MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E] Unable to get VIVO to work

    Here's my following specs:
    -MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E PCI-Express VGA card
    -DFI Lanparty UT Nforce4 Ultra
    -1x Seagate 160 GB SATA
    -OCZ Modstream 450W
    -Sound Blaster 2 Audigy ZS
-1x 2x512MB Dual Channel Mushkin Lvl II RAM
    -LG 4163B 16x DVD-RW Combo
    -Windows XP Pro with SP2
-Latest Catalyst drivers 5.4 without CCC
    -Latest ATI MMC software
My current dilemna is whenever I tried to run the Multimedia Centre software, the program keeps bugging me that the "TV player failed to initialize the video".  Upon running the PC check on the configuration, the result is that the "capture driver is not loaded nor enumerated by the device".  The odd thing before running the MMC software  is whenever I tried to install the latest WDM capture drivers on ATI's website, it cannot even install them at all.  No ATI WDM Rage Theater Video nor the ADI WDM Specialized Codec were even detected, saying that it's an unknown device.  I was able to install these WDM drivers from the CD that came with the card and it installed perfectly and that's where I cannot run the MMC software at all.
I tried to reseat the VGA card, re-install the drivers multiple times using old and new, install a fresh WinXP Pro on the hard drive, etc.  You name it.  I have a feeling that maybe the Rage Theater chipset is dead?

I are you saying that rx800xl have TVtuner?, or you want get video signal from a conventional TV?
until I know rx800xl does not have tv tuner, the theatre chip only provide you capture video signal with the special conectivity kit included with the video card.

  • [Radeon] MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E w/ No Plug?

My MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E didn't come with a power plug on the GFX card, the card doesn't seem to have enough power and the picture of the product from the site has a plug on the card.. Mine doesn't, whats up with that?

I thought that connector was the European connection for VIVO.
this is in fact a VIVO connector as some European system manufacturers like to put video inputs on the front panel of their systems, and this connector easily facilitates that. The Rage Theater provides the VIVO functionality on these boards, however this may not be available with all configurations, nor the internal VIVO connector

  • MBA to HDTV question

Have my MBA connected to a Panasonic TV via the Belkin mini display to HDMI adaptor - the MBA sees the Panasonic, but the TV is not seeing an incoming signal from the MBA.  Do I need to configure the MBA in some way to send video out the Thunderbolt port?  Thanks for the help.

All the settings are in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab.  This tab will only appear if the MBair recognizes that the monitor is attached.  Turn your TV to the proper HDMI input channel and you should see the default desktop wallpaper.   This is extended desktop mode where the monitor is logically located to the right of the MBair.  Dragging an app off the right side of your desktop should make it appear on the TV.
Try toggling CMD F1 to switch to mirror mode and back.  See if you get a signal.
You can also set the resolution for the monitor in System Preferences.  If none of this works, look at the options in the Panasonic.

  • HDTV Question

I plan on buying a new tv to mount on the wall...I'm a Sony fan, and have been for quite sometime when it comes to TV's, but my dilemma is this-how do you know what size is appropriate?  I want to be able to get the biggest size that will still be a good fit for my living room.  I don't want it so small you can't see it, but I don't want to feel like it's to big either...any suggestions on how to pick the size?

  • X800XL active pipelines 12? AND underclocked?

i just noticed that my MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E 256MB i purchased only has 12 active pipelines. i was under the impression that all X800XL's have 16 pipelines. i got this info from ATITool. i was also alarmed when i saw that the memory default clock speed was 350mhz (350x2 = 700mhz). completely false advertising on the website stating that the Memory Clock Speed: 980MHz.
so basically, this X800XL is nothing more than a X800pro, with a falsely labeled "XL" name.

  • MSI K8N NEO4-F... Is This a Good Main Board???

Hello! i was thinking about this main board and i don't know about to buy it,because it isn't too expensive and it's very good,
    this is my pc:
    Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L120M0 120GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
    MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E Radeon X800XL 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor
What do you say???? Is this nForce chipset better than an ATI or a VIA of the same kind of board???. Thanks!!! see ya!

I like both VIA and nVidia chipsets. I am a little hesitant to try ATI until they mature, although I believe they got a good start. ATI's been draggin' a little, but they are working on a new chipset to compete with nVidia. I have built seven nForce boards, and all have been extremely smooth. Not one problem with any of them.

  • Which one is better Between RX800PRO-TD256E and NX6800-TD256E ?

Hello i have a dude... I need to know which one is more powerfull and better! please...i need a help! because ill buy one. I saw the specs but they have diferent technologies. which one i should choose???.write me please!!!. THANKS!!!... see ya!

Why don't you go, and get this one? it was released yesterday:
    XFX  Geforce 7800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16
Or I would recommend you these too:
    MSI RX800XL-VT2D256E Radeon X800XL 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16
(The memory runs a little faster than RX800PRO, and also have 16 Pixel Pipelines instead of the PRO version with only 12)
    MSI NX6800-TD256E (Riddick) Geforce 6800 256MB 256-bit DDR PCI Express x16
    Both cards are great.

  • Mac Mini Purchase Question HDTV

    Hello,
I want to buy a mac mini for an entertainment computer. I think the hdmi out will be great.
All I want to do is watch movies through my samsung 55" HDTV.
I am wondering if the basic model will be enough or should I get a suped up model.
If I need a suped up model, what do I need. More RAM, Processor Power, or what? I use a shared network drive at home so storage is not an issue.
    Thanks,
    James

"Watch movies" could mean a lot of things. If you are talking about purchased iTMS content then a minimum configuration will be fine. If you are talking about movies from other sources, then it becomes harder to answer the question without knowing more about the sources.
Certain very high bit rate content, like 1080p at high frame rates and encoded in such a way that hardware decoding can't be used...movies like that could give trouble without some thought and care put into the configuration. But most likely, you will be fine with a minimum configuration.

  • Questions about the insignia 32 inch 1080 p hdtv

Hey. I am looking to purchase a new tv but I have a few questions.
    1) Is this tv a good one for gaming? I have an xbox 360 and want to know how it would play.
    2) Does it have a slot for an optical audio cable? I have an external sound card with 5.1 speakers hooked to it. The card has an optical audio slot and id like to hook it to my tv so I can use my surround sound on the tv.
    3) At my college only normal channels are available and not HDTV channels. Will regular channels look bad on this tv?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The insignia has optical output yes, standard def, looks like any other TV with HD, its fine although HD is preferred. Playing xbox 360 on it should be no problem.

  • Tech question re: stealth mirroring MacBook to HDTV?

    Greetings Apple family,
I understand how to mirror using the HDMI very well, that is mirroring exactly what is on my MacBook screen to the HDTV. My question therefore is, would it be possible to mirror for example only a Safari screen shot to the TV, while I'd be working on a Word file on the MacBook?
Thanks for the anticipated co-op everyone!
    God bless,
    Chris

I think you can do it.
While you're plugging the HDMI wire, go to Apple - System Preferences- then select Disply.
Next go under Arrangement and adjest your displays secreen. Choose one to display Safary and the other to work on whatever you want.
    I hope this is work!

  • New Macbook Pro, no mini-DVI port? (HDTV connect question)

Most online resources suggest that Mac users can connect their computers to their HDTV's through the mini-DVI port, but I examined my Macbook and saw that the new version (purchased 2 months ago, roughly) doesn't have this port. This being the case, what can I use to connect my laptop to an HDMI cable? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

MacBook Pros now have a "Thunderbolt" port that is supposed to be backwards compatible with Mini DisplayPort (not Mini-DVI they've used the Mini DisplayPort since 2008) and, likewise, supports an external display at 2560x1600 and passes an audio signal.

  • A 'How to..." question - Connecting a MBP to a HDTV

Just finished installing my new Pioneer HDTV (PDP-427XD) and want to connect my MBP to it. I'm not ready to invest in an Apple TV just yet so I am looking to connect the MBP physically to my HDTV.
Can anyone recommend the best way to do this. I know I need a cable but don't know which one to get.
    Any recommendations?
    Thanks for the help.
    G5 Dual Processor, 2GHz, 1GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   MBP 15inch

What you need is a DVI to HDMI cable like this one from monster. The DVI end will hook right up to your MBP and your TV will have a HDMI slot so this is all you need.

  • HDTV resolution question

    Hi gang,
My HDTV can display 1080i and 720p. Technically speaking, should one be better than the other? I plan to do some head-to-head comparisons with various video and picture sources, but I was wondering if there was a well-established "preferred" mode.
    Cheers!

    Hey, Phil...
1080i has more lines for higher resolution and is interlaced... 720 less and progressive scan. Most don't have a choice. They usually have one or the other. If it were me, I would choose 1080i because there is more picture information. Then again, it also depends on the source format and the compression. If the data isn't there for 1080i then you will probably default over to 720.
