RXi report output to xml output conversion

Hi All,
We are working on RXi reports in Standard Applied Receipt Register report in the AR module.
We have a requirement to generate report output for the same in XML publisher; can we generate xml output files from the RXi reports to be feeded to rtf templates.
If not how to go about the given requirement?
Any pointers for the same will be highly helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Is it normal RDF if yes, then first step you change the output type to XML after that run the report and check the view out, if it showing as XML if yes. Install XML publisher and after that open word and under one menu you will see the data under this loading option and load this file and after that you can create te XML rtf too.
Thanks
Shishu Paul

  • Reports 6i's XML output

    Hi,
I am trying to output the standard Oracle11i Finacials reports in XML format with 6i Report server. The output of certain fields appears as * instead of numbers. It works fine when output in HTML. Is this a known problem or should some formating be done for such fields?
    Thanks
    Srinivas

    Hi,
I don't think that is the reason as format mask is not applied to column values in XML output format - it contains data only, no formatting.
This could be a problem with the report or the XML output generator, please contact Oracle Support to open a tar.
You should also check if the report runs correctly in the Live Previewer (make sure you remove the format mask from the column in question).
    Hope that helps.

  • Oracle Reports exclude from xml output

    Hej,
How we could hide xml column or group programmatically in reports? manually we do this by setting
    exclude from xml output=NO
But dont know how to do this dynamically.
    7Z

    Anyone who knows?

  • Easiest and/or best methods for generating XML output (not with a report)

Hi, several of our EBS customers (11.5.10) are converting their PDF reports to use XML/BI publisher to produce output. The data stream comes from a report that generates the XML output, and then the XML template is applied. This works great ... no problems, etc. From what I have read, however, Oracle intends to treat the traditional Forms and Reports Developers as legacy tools (although still supporting them, of course).
My question is if I wanted to ditch using Reports to generate XML output, what, in your opinion or in your current usage, is the easiest way of getting this data? In Reports, the data modeler is excellent in providing a method to write your queries, split them into different repeating groups, write formula and summary columns, link multiple queries, etc, etc. If one were to become Reports Developer free, what comparable tools are available to take its place? I would expect this tool to handle a mix of GUI and coding like the Reports data modeler. Please note that I'm not looking for an EBS-specific solution -- say for a custom application using regular Oracle 10g DB and iAS, with BI Publisher for reporting.
    Thanks for your feedback,
    Ryan

What I'm looking for is to not use Oracle Reports to generate the XML data output since Oracle's statement of direction is pushing BI Publisher rather than Oracle Reports as the preferred tool for reporting. That said, the data modeler in Reports provides a very flexible tool to construct and link multiple queries and to manipulate the queries into several levels of a master/detail relationship. Further, the mix of GUI and coding makes setting up the data model a lot more efficient. What I'm looking for (and I don't know if anything exists) is something comparable that can be used to generate XML output from the DB -- the idea being that I wouldn't use legacy tools, like Reports, for this task. I hope that is clearer.
Really, another way of answering my question is, aside from Reports and the APIs mentioned so far, what are my fellow developers using, if anything, to extract XML data in a way that handles the features i list above?

  • Build Reports from XML output from Reports

    Hi,
I was just wondering if it is possible to build reports from output in XML format, originally generated by Oracle Reports.
The XML output produced by Reports is stored in a database for further processing.
    TIA
    Hien

    Hi Hien
If I have understood this right, you need to create report in XML format from an XML Report Definition File. From the Builder, Generate to File from the File menu and choose XML format for the output.
Remember that XML output from Reports is Data driven and faithfully reproduces the Data Model. It is NOT layout driven.

How do I get the Oracle .EDF report parameters in .XML output?

  • Oracle Reports has comma as decimal separator in XML output

In XML, numbers should be canonical, otherwise BI Publisher errors with java.lang.NumberFormatException.
(This regards the e-business suite, by the way.)
We have trouble with our invoice report, a modified RAXINV, that suddenly makes XML files with comma. Which brought our invoicing process to a screeching halt. "Suddenly" means that it used to work, but now it does not work. I think someone has changed a setting somewhere, but nobody admits to doing that.
Can anybody point out where to look? What is actually controlling the decimal separator used by Oracle Reports in the XML output?
    Thanksalotinadvance,

Thanks for replying, Tim. (and thanks for a most enlightening "meet the experts" session at OOW)
The language settings for RAXINV are controlled by an MLS language function. I have logged an SR, but the problem seemed to solve itself, so the SR was closed, and then the problem reappeared. Darn.
However, I did some more research on Metalink and found this bug that seem to match our problem:
Bug 5920262 - NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS KEEP CHANGING DYNAMICALLY FROM SESSION TO SESSION
I've ordered patching, so i think we'll have this fixed soon.

  • Problems in create graphical report from Oracle FSG xml output using BIP

We are trying to create graphical reports from Oracle Financial Statement Generator (FSG) xml output. I personally have extensive exposure working with XML (BI) Publisher but until recently I have never tried to use the BIP charting wizard to create graphical reports from FSG xml output out of EBS 11i/R12.
I created an SR with Oracle but they had to create an enhancement request for this issue. Does anyone know or have any idea on how we can accomplish this. The charting wizard pops up but the xml tags available do not make any sense.
If anybody has any idea please send me an email at [email protected]

Numbers (or names that start with numbers) are generally not allowed as tag names:
SQL> select xmltype('<1></1>') xml from dual
    select xmltype('<1></1>') xml from dual
    Error at line 1
    ORA-31011: XML parsing failed

  • Calling XML Publisher Report from OAF using the conc programs xml output

    Hi all
I am trying to call a report from oa Framework. I have developed the Template in the Ms-Word and for Generating the xml data i used the view object defined in OAF, this approach is working for me...i used the following code to do this in the AM as mentioned in many places...
    public XMLNode getEmpDataXML()
    OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)findViewObject("EmpVO1");
    XMLNode xmlNode = (XMLNode) vo.writeXML(4, XMLInterface.XML_OPT_ALL_ROWS);
    return xmlNode;
now i want that instead of the view object i should use the xml generated by the report which is registered as concurrnet program with output as xml.
I am submitting the concurrent program and able to get the request id ...
Now from here what should i do.. please suggest...

    Hi,
I am thinking of doing something very similar. What i was planning on doing is submitting the request, and then redirecting the user to the concurrent request page. They can then use the standard functionality to view output and get the xml to use the appropriate template.
i would be interested in how you get the concurrent request id from the submitted job.
    Many thanks

  • Report will not generate PDF only the XML output.  View XML icon disabled

I created a PDF format report.
When the report completes, View Output shows XML code not the PDF output.
View XML button is disabled from Diagnostic on view request screen.
Any thoughts. All settings are the same as when other XML to PDF reports are created. Not sure why this one is not working.
    Thanks

I'm afraid this is not an installation issue, it rather sounds and application server one, at the operative level.
I suggest you to post your thread at the Fusion Middleware or Developer Tools forums.
You didn't provide any OS nor Oracle / AS version, I suggest you to specify this information when posting in future threads.

  • When running an xml publisher report the xml output leads to 9 mb and the excel output file leads to 20 mb.But the output records is originally 4000 records. When copy to new excel it is showing 3.5 mb only. Does anyone knows the answer for this issue?

When running an xml publisher report the xml output leads to 9 mb and the excel output file leads to 20 mb. The records contained in excel file is 4000 records. When taking the excel records and copy to new excel file the excel file size is 3.5 mb only. Why does the oracle software generates 20mb file?
Does any one knows the answer please advice?

    Hello,
This issue is because the Excel output from BI Publisher is MHTML (XML Publisher generates XHTML) not binary .xls.
MHTML and XHTML are more verbose formats than binary .xls.
It will be large because the current Excel output is just an HTML and not compressed like PDF. Please use the workaround (save it as .xls file).  This is a known limitation of RTF layout templates.
BI Publisher Enterprise has a new feature True Excel Templates. The layouts generate binary Excel output.
Excel Output File Size Generated By BI Publisher is Very Large (Doc ID 760437.1)

    [ajayubbott],
I am not sure if you should create another folder to house all your servlets when using Java Web Server 2.0.
The servlet invoker of Java Web Server 2.0 looks at the <server_root directory>/servlets/ directory as the root servlet directory by default and any servlets that is housed under this directory is monitored by the custom class loader provided by Java Web Server 2.0.
This custom class loader will automatically reload any serlvet class files that are modified i.e. a newer version of the servlet that is newly compiled e.g. change in functionality. What this means is that you don't have restart the web server to reload any new version of the existing servlets on the web server.

  • How to call the XML Publisher Report thro Standard PO Output for Comm.

    Hi
We need to call our custom report(XML Publisher Report) from the standard PO Output for Communication Report.
There is a parameter(Purchase Order Layout) in PO Output for Communication in which we can see no. of standard reports. We want to add our custom report in that list so that when we will run this standard report by selecting our custom report for Purchase Order Layout parameter, we should get the output as per our Custom report.
Since PO Output for Communication is a Java Concurrent Program, we are not able to place our custom report in the list of Purchase Order layout Parameter.
