RZ20 - Oracle MTE missing
I am running Oracle 9.2.0.7
Under "SAP CCMS Monitor Templates" - "Database" there is no Oracle monitoring set.
How do I get the Oracle alerts?
Hello William,
the most common reason for the missing Oracle MTEs is a not running Background Dispatching. You should check if it is running (rz21 - Technical infrastructure - Method execution - Activate Background Dispatching). Another fast way to check this is to search for the job SAP_CCMS_MONI_BATCH_DP is running each hour (preferebly without errors

Oracle license miss understanding
Hello every body,
I have oracle license miss understanding,
what's the NAMED USER PLUS, PER CPU , and how much the support cost's me /yr and if a new version of oracle has overcome could i upgrad to this version with the old licens or buy it again?Hi,
Oracle Database or for that matter any Oracle technology products are licensed using 2 metrics
1) Named user plus
2) Processor(CPU)
Named user plus can be used when the number of users accesing the database can be easily identified or counted.
Processor based licensing is done when there are unlimited number of user accessing the database /application
eg: Internet based application where a count on the number of users is not possible.
If one has valid license's and is under proper support from Oracle one NEED NOT pay extra for the new versions that are released by Oracle.
Hence you should ensure that the licenses are renewed year on year so that you are eligilble for updates/ upgrade as an when released by Oracle.
Thanks,

My Problem is:
When I try to load and register JDBC driver with statement below:

I get compile error saying "Type named oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver is not defined."
My questions are:
Do I need to have any "oracle" Projects in my workspace. If so Where do I get it from??.
I think I am missing some oracle classes.

Oracle VM missing features disscussion.
I work in shop where we have 13 blades running VMware 5.1 and 7 blades running Oracle VM 3.2.6 because of this I have become very familiar with both products. While I think Oracle VM is a wonderful product; it is sadly missing key features that would make it a real replacement for VMware in our I.T. shop.
The 3 top features I think it is missing are:
Live Storage Migration similar to VMware vStorage Motion.
Live Snapshot and Cloning of Virtual Machines.
Integrated Disaster Recover Site Management and failover capabilities, similar to VMware SRM.
I am curious to see what others think are missing features that Oracle VM could benefit from.If you don't have libaio on your o/s CD, you can get it from rpmfind.net. It's a prerequisite for Oracle Database XE, which is used as part of Oracle VM Manager. When you've got the rpm, follow the instructions from the Oracle VM Manager Installation Guide (I love copy/paste, don't you?)
The libaio.rpm File
Ensure that the libaio.rpm package is installed. You can find libaio.rpm from the
ISO packages of Oracle Enterprise Linux. The libaio version varies depending on the
Oracle Enterprise Linux version. For Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 Update 5, the libaio
version is libaio-0.3.105-2.
1. Before installing libaio.rpm, check if it is already installed. To determine if
libaio.rpm is already installed, enter the following command:
# /bin/rpm -q libaio.i386
This command will display the existing libaio.rpm version. For example:
libaio-0.3.106-3.2
If no information is displayed, then you need to install libaio.rpm.
2. Go to the directory where libaio.rpm is located, and enter the following
command:
# rpm -ivh libaio-0.3.105-2.i386.rpm

Using Toplink with Oracle Spatial (missing right parenthesis error)
Hi,
I always get the following error when I try to create spatial query with toplink.
Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
Any idea ? Also, there is no trace of my point in the generated sql....
Here is the generated query:
SELECT ID, [...]
FROM QUEBEC_CITY
WHERE (MDSYS.SDO_NN(GEOMETRY, JGeometry (gtype=1, dim=2, rid=8307, NULL) = 'TRUE')
ORDER BY ID ASC
Here is my code... :
double[] coord = new double[]{-71.25163d, 46.8527d};
JGeometry point = JGeometry.createPoint(coord, 2, 8307);
SpatialOperator nearestNeighbor = SpatialOperator.nearestNeighbor(session);
ReadAllQuery query = new ReadAllQuery(UrbanEdgeDescriptor.class);
ExpressionBuilder eb = query.getExpressionBuilder();
Expression geom = eb.get("geometry");
query.setSelectionCriteria(nearestNeighbor.buildExpression(geom, point));
query.addAscendingOrdering("id");
List<UrbanEdgeDescriptor> results = (List)db.getSession().executeQuery(query);
System.out.println(results!=null);The problem is the toString() on JGeometry. It does not print out a complete description the database can use inline. It produces:
JGeometry (gtype=1, dim=2, rid=8307
To get JGeometry types to work in your queries the easiest solution is to use parameter binding so the literal representation is not used.

GetTypeInfo from Oracle: VARCHAR2 missing parameter?
Hi,
I have a problem when I run the following code to get typeInfo from Oracle. That is, when the typeName is VARCHAR2, the create params from rs.getString(6) return Null.
I think it should return a LENGTH parameter, as VARCHAR2 requires a length parameter for its type, such as VARCHAR2(30). So I simply can not use it to get the data type information for a column.
Is it a bug for the JDBC driver? I am using Oracle JDBC driver (class12.zip). Is there any way to fix it?
void getDataTypeMetadata(DatabaseMetaData meta)
ResultSet rs;
String typeName, params;
rs = meta.getTypeInfo();
while (rs.next())
typeName = rs.getString(1);
params = rs.getString(6);
if (rs.wasNull()) params = null;
System.out.println("typeNames=" + typeName );
System.out.println("createParams=" + rs.getString(6));
rs.close();
}Thanks for the help!Hi,
I have a problem when I run the following code to get
typeInfo from Oracle. That is, when the typeName is
VARCHAR2, the create params from rs.getString(6)
return Null. This might be a typo in your post, but you shouldn't call getString() twice on the same column. The second System.out.println() should actually refer to the variable params, not call getString() again!
I think it should return a LENGTH parameter, as
VARCHAR2 requires a length parameter for its type,
such as VARCHAR2(30). So I simply can not use it to
get the data type information for a column.
getTypeInfo() returns "a description of all the standard SQL types supported by this database" there is now way it can return a length information, because a length information is only stored for an actual table column. And the javadoc clearly says that this field may be null!
I can not use getColumns() method since it requires
the table name argument in order to get specific
COLUMN_SIZE information of each column in the specific
table. Here I want to know, from JDBC, what kinds of
types are used in Oracle and what is the parameter for
each of these types.If you don't have a column you can't get a size information. Simple as that.

Indexes on Oracle Level Missing at Data Dic. (SAP) Level
Hello Masters,.
My Question is, There are 3 standard tables in CRM server Say for example table A, table B, table C.
Table A has 2 index , B have 1 Index, C has 2 Index in Database level.
These Indexes are not available or somehow deleted from Data Dictionary (SAP) level.
Are these Indexes working if i am writing ABAP Code Select statement or in any situitions...??The one way that I can see to find that out quickly is to do a trace on a query performed against the table(s)... through ST05 and then drilling down into the Execution Plan in the Trace List..
Those indexes that are being used will be listed there.
Your queries will need to encourage use of these indexes, though, to avoid false negatives...

Missing Oracle after Oracle installation ......
We are installing NWT0s with Oracle 102 on Win 2003 64bit (I386 platform).
First time it happen to us:
the RDBMS installation ended successfully and the latest Patchset also ended successfully, but the services are missing and the registry is not updated:
the Oracle key is mising into the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE item.
In this situation, the sapinst continue to says 'Oracle sw missing: install Oracle first'.
The Oracle sw is on the disks but as the oracle key is missing into the registry the Sapinst does not use it.
The "Oracle" package itself it's missing into the 'installing application' feature of Windows Control Panel.
Any advise ?Hi,
This usually happends to wrong hardware & architecture of installation, 2 possibilities:
1. Oracle installed, but not installed correctly > check oracle
installation logs , uninstall and reinstall.
2. Wrong bit version of oracle installed > check RDBMS-CD
(LABEL.ASC) used for the installation.
Hope this helps,

Oracle 10gr2 rac, ora-12545 error when configured in shared server mode
Hi i have fresh installation on two node rac on linux, with oracle 10gr2. It is running successfully, when i configure it in shared server mode and try to connect from client it gives error ora_12545:
I have referred the oracle metalink notes and configured the local_listener as well as the remote_listener,
still it is giving the error. I am able to tnsping all the entries on tnsnames.ora,
i m also able to ping the hostnames,
It connects most of the times succeessfully but some times it gives the error.
how to solve this problem,
please help meBasically this error means you misspelled the hostname or typed a wrong IP Address.
Oracle Error :: TNS-12545+
Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
Cause
The address specified is not valid, or the program being connected to does not exist.
Action
Ensure the ADDRESS parameters have been entered correctly; the most likely incorrect parameter is the node name. Ensure that the executable for the server exists (perhaps "oracle" is missing.) If the protocol is TCP/IP, edit the TNSNAMES.ORA file to change the host name to a numeric IP address and try again.
I suggest you to check the dispatcher instance parameter.

Hi,
The directory oracle is missing from the location
]$ pwd
/u04/Rel11i/devora/8.0.6/forms60/java
$ cd oracle
-bash: cd: oracle: No such file or directory
How to resolve this.Anyone Pls help...
Thanks,
PraveenI copied that oracle directory structure from another instance and the patch which was not working
worked fine.I think that generation of jar files was also an issue of not having this oracle dir structure
as the patch was failing at that stepThis is expected, since Registry.dat should exist under $806_ORACLE_HOME/form60/java/registry/ and none of the files/directories should be missing under $806_ORACLE_HOME/form60/java
But still i have to copy the Directories you menionted?Yes, you should copy all those files in order to have an identical copy of your source instance. Can you list the directories which you have copied when you cloned the instance? -

Edited by: user1418491 on 12.09.2010 13:52Hi all,
the Problem ist still allive ^^
By Installing the RPM Package i get some errors concerning the folder /var/tmp/. I think this is the problem why the initial database is not installed. So I´ve done the steps again with the comman ./createdb.sh.
The naked DB is installed (without APEX i think). So i installed the APEX 4.0 again an i found on my external Linux Server (V-Server !) the folowing Index :
Name
Last modified
Size
i/ Tue, 14 Sep 2010 20:26:24 GMT
public/ Tue, 14 Sep 2010 17:31:36 GMT
sys/ Tue, 14 Sep 2010 17:31:43 GMT
A folder /i/ written by the Apex, but still no Apex !
The DB works correctly by Using Putty an start SQL+ on the V-Server but external connect is still not pssible.
HTTP Access in the DB ist set to LOCALACCESS=false
HTTP Port = 8080
Listener = 1521
TNSPING external DB is ok, but connecting via SQL or something still got erros written above (ORA-12514 )
by connecting with IE8 i have to connect with sys/pw . But there happened nothing after that exept showing the folders.
A firewall isn´t running on my V-Server because there is even teamspeak running with 6 servers.
I´ll try with the ORARUN.RPM and hope ist will work ^^
Add :
I tried ORARUN.RPM but the same Errors coming as installing the ORACLE-UNIV.RPM
Updating etc/sysconfig/oracle...

Unsupported version of oracle database in ewa
hi sap experts,
When going through my ewa report, i'm getting the following issue, which is showing
"Unsupported Oracle Release"
I also notice that on the database part, the current version of Oracle is missing? We have Oracle version 10.
please help me!Hello Jessica,
I've seen this issue many times and the way it will definately get resolved is by doing a full service definition refresh. Please follow SAP Note 727998 to do this completely. Please complete this first on your Solution Manager system and once completed, do the same on the Satellite system.
Please note that there are 3 steps in the service definition refresh & they are:
- Delete the Service Definition
- Refresh the Service Definition
- Regenerate the Service Definition
Note 727998 will outline all the steps required to have this happen.
Once you have completed this, please re-generate the EWA report in question to ensure that the problem is resolved.
Hope this helps you out!
Thanks,
Mark
