S-10 netbook problem

OK,
I wiped the OS and re-installed a fresh copy of WIN7 starter (32 bit) on my little Lenovo. Downloaded all the latest drivers and software.
Now, it keeps telling me " turn on wireless capability " , when I try to connect to the net.
I have :
-pressed FN+F5
-toggled the wifi switch just above the SD card
-turned my modem on/off
-checked system properties all hardware fine
-toggled other 2 switches on bottom side
Still nothing. Any help?

Netbook Problems : Songs corrupted on transfer

I recently bought a new netbook (an Acer Aspire One AO532h) and after setting up itunes, discovered that I was getting a lot of corrupted songs/podcasts when I tried to sync from the netbook.
At first I thought it might be a USB port/cable issue, but I'm not getting any errors in iTunes, and I redownloaded a fresh copy of the podcast, deleted the original from the iTouch, re-synced it...and even though I did his multiple times, I got the same skips and distortion in exactly the same places on the podcast.
Yes, the podcast plays perfectly in iTunes.
I decided to try a restore, which got right to the end of the procedure before I got a message saying "This iPod cannot be restored : Error code 6"...and this completely bricked the iTouch.
I've sent it in for repair, but I'm afraid of this happening again. Other than a USB cable issue, has anyone had similar problems using iTunes with a netbook or any ideas what could be going wrong?

I'm still having this problem after a complete wipe and reinstall of my netbook, updating my netbook's firmware, a reinstall of itunes, redownload of the actual music, netbook memory upgrade, trying all three USB ports and no less than four transfer cables.
Just a hint, though...DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY A COMPLETE RESET OF YOUR ITOUCH IF YOU'RE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
Turns out it's not just music getting corrupted, but everything you transfer to the iTouch, including the OS and firmware if you try a complete reset.
Yeah, I tried a reset and it completely bricked my iTouch. Had to send it back to Apple for repair.
It's been months now and I've still not found a solution.

$DISPLAY stopped working for one user

Have 3 secondary users that I use daily on this desktop, that runs Arch x86_64 up-to-date (systemd compatible). WM is i3-wm 4.3-2.
As of today, USER2 can launch GUI applications, USER3 sudently can't.
Can't see what configuration I could have edited (I barely touch those secondary users config files).
First tho secondary users are allowed to use X with 'xhost +SI:localuser:<USER{2,3}>' in a startup script, so that I can launch various GUI apps.
Both share the same groups (audio,video,...) beside their own peculiar group.
Oh and a last one that is used for skype only (as per the wiki). It is launched with an alias:
alias skype='xhost +local: && sudo -u skype /usr/bin/skype'
Runs fine.
Logged as USER3:
$ echo $DISPLAY

As far I can remember I haven't edited any config file on that system for last month - other than power management related: cpupower, jupiter and kernel-netbook
Problem hasn't changed on the desktop PC: $DISPLAY works fine with one secondary user, and not at all with the other. Have no clue as where it may comes from, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Problem with WiFi on one netbook but not the other

I have a curious problem in that I am able to connect and browse via the wireless network on one netbook using the home hub no problem, but another netbook connects the wireless network but does not allow me to browse. Curiously it works no problem on ethernet. The netbook with the problem is running Windows 7 Home Pro with Microsoft Essentials as the AV protection. The netbook without the problem is running Windows XP Home Pro with AVG.
I have tried all sorts from rolling back Windows updates, reinstalling the wireless device drivers, refreshing/flushing dns and various command prompts but nothing seems to work.
I took the netbook away and tried connecting to another wireless network and it worked straight away no problem which leads me to believe it is a dns issue with the BT connection on my netbook.
I have enclosed the IPCONFIG for both the wireless and ethernet connection in case anyone can spot anything and make suggestions...

Wireless connections are classed as public by default, so file sharing and network discovery is disabled.
You have to change your wireless connection so that it is in the Private network classification.
I cannot remember how to do this, as its a while since I played around with a Win 7 or Vista laptop.
Any settings only affect the actual wireless connection you change, so if you access public wifi, then that will be classed as a public network, and file sharing will be disabled.
Ethernet connections are usually assumed private.
I am sure a Google search will tell you more, if its not in Windows help.

My netbook has problems to run on battery ...

I have a netbook S10 and it started to have problems to run on battery. In fact, when the battery is installed, even if the pc is plugged or not the netbook does not boot. When I remove the battery the pc is running fine !
I've tried to contact the lenovo support and they told me that they can not repair my pc, because I have just to press the power button for 30 seconds!!! It's ... I don't know, I don't understand! It is normal ? Well...what should I do, to press all the time the power button when it doesn't work? Why Lenovo is not able to offer a good support ?

.if that update procedure is done , press F2 to get in BIOS
press F9 to setup defaults..set some parameter in CONFIG Page
like Set BEEP off or Sata to AHCI ... leave BIOS via F10 save and exit...
The reset hint :
unplug PSU and battery press 30 seconds On/Off Button ...
When battery is damaged .. or total uncharged ...it could be possible... that machine will not start...

TV audio problem when linking netbook

i am trying to link a netbook to my TV. I have got visuals but no audio. I have been advised the 3.5 stereo jack cable will work but it hasn't. Any ideas?

I am looking up the manual of your TV, there is headphone Jack on the TV... you will need to use 3.5 Mini-Jack to Composite cable to have Audio coming from TV...

You don't need to upgrade your software. But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3. It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC. More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.

Microphone problems Netbook Mini 110c

I have a netbook mini 110c - 1010(Compaq) which is just over a year old. The internal and external mic have never worked since purchase. I recently had to get a reinstallation of windows carried out and I asked the guys in the store to investigate the mic problem. Now that I have Windows 7 instead of XP they told me drivers are unavailable for this model with 7 . Does anybody have any suggestions.....could I use drivers from another model?

I have FoxIt. If Firefox has security problems, work it out for FoxIt. There are no circumstances I will accept Abode "bloatware" in my laptop or my eeePC netbook.

My computer regularly crashes, because it has limited resources. Today, it had crashed overnight because of a power outage and extremely low battery. It had nothing whatsoever to do with "security problems due to not updating Adobe PDF Reader".
I have FoxIt PDF Reader.
If Mozilla thinks Firefox has security problems, fix it. Make Firefox work better with FoxIt. But don't tell me I need Adobe "bloatware" in my limited resources older laptop or my EeePC netbook. There are no circumstances I will accept Adobe products in a computer in my control.

Problems transfering itunes library to a netbook

I've been having problems transfering the library to a new netbook. I'm using itunes 9 I have used an external harddrive, the music files are on the netbook. Itunes can load them into my library but they are only organised in separate songs by artist I cant organise them in a grid or cover flow.I would prefer them in the Music library can anyone assist please?

You can't the iTunes is compensating for the screen resolution (This is an improvement since there was a time when you couldn't install it at all.) :

Problems installing Linux on ARM netbook *

i got this new january, it's been a pain in the rear since then. It has an samsung arm926 in it and solid state nand drive. It was 99$ but I want to get my use out of it. I tried easypc linux, but i don't know how to make a ext2 drive in windows and add the ext2 folder. I tried android and moblin, awww... i couldn't even get wince back on it. it's such a nightmare. i thought of getting a new netbook. It's collecting dust and I should be using it. please help me!

Apparently it's a MenQ EasyPC 790.
I was kind of excited about the thought of cheap ARM based netbooks being released. Then I read about all of the compatibility problems between different types of ARM processors their supporting hardware and became not so excited. I suppose it will be some time before we are able to buy a nice easy to use Linux laptop with an ARM processor.

My Netbook Keyboard Problem

Hello Hp Forum guys i am having a really annoying problem with my netbook model no. compaq 110c-1010ee
The problem is that that the netbook or its keyboard is writing j and q letters automatically but the keys are not pressed and also these keys are not working.
The keys that are not responding are
Caps lock Key

j key
I have done thse things for troubleshooting
Installed freshly new windows 2 times.
Formated the Hdd.
Scaned for virus with avast all up to date (on windows and Boot-time Scan)
Disabled all the services
Enabled all the services
But still the problem presists

ok....that is Hardware issue, now to find out if the issue is with keyboard controller or keyboard itself...we will need to swap it with a good know keyboard...for which you will need to send it in for service....

Google browser and others show all web page on netbook but firefox wont i have to scrool why can i change settings on firefos to help this problem

all other web browsers when i use on my net book show full web page but with Firefox i have to scroll side ways cant see full width of page sometimes Firefox will show full page but this is not often are the settings in Firefox to help this problem i have the latest version of Firefox 4.0.1

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
