S 4 Shuts down randomly and won't restart
Hello,
I brought and S 4 7/27 and loved it for the first few days. A few days later it started shutting down randomly and the only way to restart is to take the battery out. That works for an hour or so until it shuts down again. I've tried uninstalling all the apps I've installed but I still get the same result.
Any sugestions?
Thansk,
twinsfan
twinsfan2013, the software for some 3rd party applications can affect the performance of your device. Although you've uninstalled a few application, the issue may still remain on your phone. I recommend that you back up your device at Verizon's cloud or Backup Assistance and then hard reset your phone if the power cycling issue persists. Ever since I upgraded my MacBook to Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 from Tiger (and also purchased and installed Office Mac 2008), it will not wake up from sleep. If I close it while it is still awake, (which I normally would without problems before I upgraded) it will not wake up when I open it; the screen just stays black and I have to use the power button to restart it. This also happens when it falls asleep naturally after being on screen saver. It is a really big annoyance and I know that it must be damaging my computer.
Also, now it will randomly shut down if it does not have the power adapter plugged in, which never happened before.
ALSO, my CD burn attempts will fail midway and say "medium write error".
Can my computer not handle all of the new software I put on it or something? I feel as though it's slowly deteriorating, and it's not even 2 years old. Do I need to buy more memory or disk space? I am really clueless as to how to fix these problems. I'm only 16 and really can't afford to spend money on getting it looked at, so PLEASE helpWelcome to Apple Discussions:
You need to give us more info about your computer: RAM, speed, HD size, freespace etc.
Look at the activity monitor and console logs for potential issues.
Normally a computer will run faster and better with Leopard.
You need to take inventory of any Tiger apps that are not Leopard compatible that may be problematic. Also check what items you have in your login pane.
Have you recently run the disk utility and repaired HD and permissions? -
IPod Nano shuts down randomly and doesn't restart unless connected
This happened to me two days ago. I was working on a pool listening to a podcast, with the iPod in my pocket. I was wearing black pants and it was very hot, so I'm not sure if it's simply an issue of overheating, but what happened was while I was listening to the podcast the iPod completely shut down. I took it out of my pocket and tried to reset it holding the menu and center buttons, but the iPod wouldn't respond to this. The iPod was completely charged the night before so I'm sure this isn't an issue. I took it home and hooked it up to my computer and it worked fine. But today, it did the same thing, listening to the same podcast (TalkRadar) and wouldn't respond to the menu and center buttons again, but it responded to plugging it in to the computer. Something else happened, too, the iPod would turn on and off randomly even while connected to the computer and I would have to unplug the iPod and re-plug it back in. Does anybody have an idea of what the problem is? I want to know whether or not I should send it in for repair.
If resetting or restoring the ipod does not work, take it to an Apple Store. Let the staff examine it. If you have Apple Care, call them.

Eqium M40X-189 powers itself down randomly and won't restart easily
A few days ago my Equim M40X shut itself down while unattended (running from mains power with battery in place). All that was on was the green mains power light. Pressing the start button had no effect. I removed the battery and replaced it - still no joy. Took it to my local computer repair shop - they claimed at first there was nothing wrong, but when I came to collect it would not start. They "reseated power board connector and touch pad connector, and tested 15 times - switches on and off correctly" 25 the poorer I took it home. Next day- same problem. Eventually got it to start, but after 1 minute it shut down. Restarted again and ran OK several hours. Today, would not start. Took the battered out completely - started OK, but shut down after 2 hours or so. I can usually get it going by uplugging the mains and/or the battery, but have no idea how long it will go before shutting itself down.
Please help!!Hmmm. its really hard to say what could be wrong
Usually the notebook shuts down automatically due to the high temperature
Maybe the cooling modules are clogged by dust and debris its worth to clean the cooling fans and to renew the thermal grease which is placed between the cooling module and CPU
But this is a job for an ASP technician as mentioned by Jeka
Therefore get in contact with the local ASP and ask for help!
Good luck -
My iPhone 4 shut down randomly and the lock button is broken, it has happened before but I just called myself and it turned on. It also wont charge or connect to my computer, how do I restart it?
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

My MacBook Pro shut down unexpectedly and won't connect to wifi now.
My MacBook Pro shut down unexpectedly and won't connect to wifi now. All other devices in my house are connecting to the wifi just fine. The laptop just refuses to connect. Any ideas on how to fix this/what it might mean?
Try a SMC reset:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Follow directions for "A battery you should not remove yourself"
Check the mage safe connector and port for any debris. -
My ipad2 shut down randomly and than start. Problem is remain after reset. What is the solution.
You can try restoring your iPad as new using iTunes on your computer. This will load a new copy of the iOS software onto your iPad.
If this doesn't work you may have a hardware problem and will need to contact Apple Support. -

com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform 1.8You have the mid-2010 problem. There's an issue with the graphics module on that machine. There was a program in place to replace the motherboard within 3 years of purchase, but you're probably outside of that. Some folks have supposedly gotten theirs changed outside of that period, so you can try.

What you can do to use it is download gfxcardstatus from http:gfx.io and force the graphics to Intel. That will lessen the panics at the expense of graphics speed.
You may be eligible for a depot repair, which is a flat rate of about $310. Ask at the Genius Bar. Take along a printout of your panic. -
It's a brand new laptop and when i downloaded silverlight to stream netflix, it worked for like half an hour and then my computer just shuts down. i turn it on again and delete silverlight but a couple minutes later it shuts down again and this time it won't turn back on.
If it won't bong, then try an SMC reset.

Shutting down randomly and racing motor when trying to restart
Hello,
Having a couple of ongoing issues with my G5. The first one is that it is shutting down randomly. If I'm in the room when it happens, it will emit a couple of clicking sounds then shut off. This just happened and I lost some work on Final Cut as I had not time to save it.
The second issue is when I try to re-start it the motor just gradually builds until it is roaring a bit. I then hit the button to shut it off. Wait about 15 minutes and then turn it on.
I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to correct these issue on my own.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks,
JohnHi John, have you blown the dust out lately, or if liquid cooled looked for leaks.corrosion?

IMac shut down suddenly and won't boot back up
This morning my iMac shut down suddenly. All I had open was Google Chrome and I was just on Facebook and that's it. When I tried to boot it back up, it wouldn't load past the startup sound, wherein it would appear to shut back down,or at the very least the screen would go black (my mouse has lights that stay on when the computer is on, and the light kept going on and off while the screen remained black). This was the case for at least a half hour until it suddenly booted itself back up all on its own. I had it on throughout the day, just browsing the internet and watching Youtube. It shut itself down twice during the day, and both times it restarted on its own right away after showing me a grey screen with the Apple logo and a progress bar. Now it just shut itself down again and it won't make it past the progress bar screen - if it even makes it that far, sometimes it shuts off right after it makes the startup sound. It keeps trying to boot up on its own over and over again, but it keeps shutting down right away. All the fixes I've searched for so far require a computer that actually boots up all the way so I don't think I could run any reports if I tried!
I'm running the latest version of Yosemite (10.10.2?).
Model number A1311
Not entirely sure what specs are useful to know so I'm just gonna write some of what's on the box it came in:
3.2 GHz Intel i3 processor, 4MBshared level 3 cache
4GB of 1333MHz DDR SDRAM
1TB serial ATA hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 5670 graphics processor with 512 MB of GDDR3 memory
Bought it around fall of 2010. Not sure if it's worth trying to get it fixed (I live nowhere near an Apple store) or if I should just get a new computer, but I would like to know what's wrong, if possible.Try to boot into the Recover Partition by holding down the Command + R keys on startup. If it still won't boot then the HD has probably crashed. The is likely a AASP in your area, you can locate one by clicking AASP Locator, take it to one to be professional diagnosed. If it's only the HD, assuming you have been backing up, restoring to a new HD is pretty simple.

MacBook Pro Mid 2014 shut off randomly and won't turn back on.
Hello,
My MacBook Pro(Mid 2014) won't turn back on. I was just typing up my essay and it just turned straight off and won't turn back on. It has happen several times before and all I had to do was press the buttons(SMC method) and the PVRAM thing and it would turn back on. But now it doesn't turn on at all. How do I fix this issue? I had went today to the Apple Store and had a appointment at 3:15-3:25 and I was late by 2 minutes, so they couldn't help me and offered me to come back at 5PM, but will busy so I asked for 5 Monday. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Back when it was operating it would shut off whenever I was using it at the random times. This is my first MacBook so I don't know if it's suppose to get Hot and loud sometimes when operating and then cool off afterwards if that helps out. It shutoff last week wednesday and doesn't turn on at all, but will charge to fully green though. Anyone got any suggestions? I do have a MacBook screwdriver to open it, so if anyone knows anything about the inside and how to resolve the issue it would be great. I don't know how to remove the battery so if you do know please tell me or some keyboard trick would be helpful! All my data is on this so I would like to solve before Apple erases my data.Hello,

Macbook pro 13" 2012 shut off randomly and won't turn on
The only applications that were open were safari (I was watching hulu) and iTunes. The laptop randomly shut off without any warning. It was in the charger and was around 60-70% power. After it shut down the light that was on the charger turned to a faint orange blinking light and now is a faint green blinking light. This is the first time this has happened. I can't get the power to come back on. Need help asap!
Try resetting the SMC

PT 880 neo shuts down randomly and wont reboot.
Hi I have a major problem here. My computer will randomly shut down and then try and re-boot, the only thing is that it wont... it wont even load the bios, it just sits there with a black screen. To make it boot again I have to take the Ram out or video card, push power turn it off and plug the ram or video card back in. Then it will boot up fine. That is untill it will do the same thing and just randomly shut down. Sometimes it will be days and somtimes its minuts between this procces. I have the latest 1.8 bios and My pc used to run perfect, that is before I upgraded it.
My pc ran fine for about a month and then I upgraded some parts. DDR 2300 2x512 upgraded to DDr 3200 2x512 a 9800pro upgraded to 6800GT and a 3.06 northwood P$ upgraded to 3.2 Prescott P4.
My PSU is 50watt my mobo is pt880neo lsr.
MY brain is fryed and I dont know what is wrong! do I need a new mobo? new ram?
what is wrong I have never heard of such a wierd problem.
btw my ram is Geil value ram (its on the suported list)
Sombody please help me I am loosing my hair.So far so good about ram voltage, but please spec. 3,3 / 5 /12v + Brand/model ( read from PSU label ).
values from bios/software reading is not always what the psu give under stress.
You may also need to run memtest86, to secure that memorymodules are fine.

'10 MBP shuts down randomly and frequently
Hi,
My Macbook Pro recently began freezing and shutting down completely seemingly at random. I've turned graphics switching off in an effort to resolve the problem to no avail. I've switched browsers to see if Google Chrome was the cause but still got the freezes.
These freezes began once I upgraded to Lion and then to Mountain Lion. I've completely wiped the laptop and freshly installed the OSX but still encountered the freezing.
I took it to a local Apple repair shop and it did not freeze for them, yet I usually can't have it on for more than thirty minutes without a lock-up. They did clean the fans and I am still getting freezes.

If anybody has any suggestions for a fix or can lead me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. This is grinding my last nerve.
Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3I actually took it to my local apple certified repair shop and left out with them for a few days. when I went to pick it up, they informed me that my laptop hadn't shut down at all while they had it. they cleaned out the fans and didn't charge me.
I was skeptical and when I returned home, it immediately shut down three times in a row. I was prepared to go back with error report on hand but it suddenly began working properly. over the past week and a half or so, the laptop has only randomly shut down about three times.
I should probably still take it back in as I found a thread mentioning a problem similar to this on my model mbp that is possibly covered by apple. but, I've been almost satisfied by the much more stable condition that its been in.

Anyone know if the StarTech Express eSATA card works with 10.6?
Hi - maybe a bad assumption, but according to StarTech, their eSATA ExpressCard works with 10.4 and 10.4 - so I assumed it would work with 10.6. The model number is ECESATA1. My original MacBook Pro recognizes the card because I see the icon in the t
