S - curve & Holidays depiction in P3.1

Hi!
1. I am willing to create a (tm)S(tm)
curve on the basis of duration/ progress percentage rather
than the most popular way of taking out the reports on
resources (early & late) from the tools - tabular
reports menu. Could someone please tell me how to do that
on P3.1 version?
2. Also I am
willing to show the non working / holidays as shaded
vertical columns in the Gantt bar chart area. Can someone
help on that issue as well.

There is a knowledgebase solution ID: 1999524103233
that describes how to create a S curve based on
duration. It should be exactly what you need. It
describes steps to add a resource named ACTPCT to all
activities by running a Global Change, then another
Global Change to set the Budget and Remaining
Quantities equal to the Original and Remaining
Durations for that resource.

  • Curve 8520 cannot send/receive calls or SMS when in range of WiFi - since foreign holiday

Re-posting this in the Curve forum, where it belongs... hoping someone can help.
Recently the whole family went to Spain for two weeks. All four of our phones (a Google Nexus 4, a BB Curve 9300 and two BBCurve 8520s) worked OK in Spain, connected to local mobile networks, sent and received texts and so on.
Since returning to the UK, the BlackBerry handsets have all had problems getting re-registered to our home network (giffgaff, which uses the O2 network, as I understand it). The nexus has been fine from the moment we got back, but the BB handsets are not.
The symptoms: when in range of a registered WiFi connection, the phones cannot send or receive texts (SMS) or make or receive calls, when out of range of WiFi, they do (sometimes) succeed. It is as though the WiFi settings are over-ruling the service books / HRT for the mobile network.
The 9300 seems to have sorted itself out, thanks (possibly) to an OS upgrade. The 8520s remain basically useless.
We have tried: battery pulls, SIM pulls, manual network registration, clearing the service books and re-registering, switching SIM cards between the phones (whichever SIM is in the 9300 works OK, whichever SIM is in the 8520 does not work), OS upgrade.
The network shows on the handset screen, and connection is shown as EDGE. But calls do not get connected and SMS messages fail with "too many retries". Attempts to re-register the handset result in a message being received that the handset has been registered but it makes no difference.
The network provider (giffgaff) say they have done everything they can, and I should speak to "an engineer" - but it seems very unlikely to me that all three phones suffered a hardware fault while flying home from Spain, and that the 9300 somehow fixed itself. So I'm convinced it is a registration issue, but giffgaff are not exactly confident in their support for BB.
So - has anyone ever seen this behaviour before, and how can we fix it?
    Thanks

  • Trying to add logo to Holiday Card

I'm trying to design a business holiday card with iPhoto 11. I want to add a logo that that is rectangular in shape to the inside of the card. I keep getting square photo options for the inside which doesn't work with our longer shaped logo without it looking amateurish. Does anyone know how to add a logo in a professional manner to the inside of some of the holiday card designs.

I had problems with adding my company logo as well (Jetform Design ver 5.3). I created the logo in CorelDraw & saved as a .TIF. One thing to try is making sure all the text in the logo (if there is any) is set to curves in your logo design program. Then export as a .TIF format.
Not sure if your logo incorporates colors or is black & white but if it's one color, save as a black & white .TIF.
    Good luck!

  • Missing bezier curve node type

The current bezier curve has control nodes that extend from the curve node itself, and the curve passes through the node.
There is a different type of bezier curve where, for example, you draw control nodes in a square, and the curve forms a circle within that square because it curves around not touching the control nodes.
This bezier curve type that I described creates the smoothest curves and shapes. I use this interchangeably with the other bezier curve types.
Unfortunately this curve type is not available in Adobe Illustrator, and as such all of the curves that I create in Adobe Illustrator for the past year are very tedious, awkward, and have strange quirks in them.
I hope that you will know what I am talking about from this example. Since I paid $600 for software I don't want to switch at this point but I am disappointed.

On the right is the way of constructing curves that I have found most useful.
    X,
What you depict is an ordinary quadratic (second degree) Bezier curve, a simpler and more limited type commonly used in limited drawing programs, like the drawing modules of "works" or "office" applications. It's also what Flash's original drawing tools create, and what Flash paths actually become when exported to SWF. (The ability to draw using more versatile cubic (third degree) Beziers in the native Flash environment was added later.)
Canvas provides a separate tool for drawing with quadratic Beziers (among others). Corel Draw has is 3-Point Curve tool for those who want to draw that way. I never use those tools when working in Canvas or Draw.
Quadratic Beziers require less processing because there is but one control handle associated with each segment. But illustrating with them is actually more tedious, because you have to create more segments. A good way to become irreversably convinced of that is to try to actually draw typeface glyphs using quadratic curves instead of cubic (which you can do in some font-editing programs). It's a royal pain. That's why it's common among those who create TrueType fonts to draw using cubic Beziers and then convert them to quadratic TrueType curves. And it's why cubic Beziers are considered the conventional-wisdom norm in more serious mainstream drawing programs.
Try making a single segment cross itself with a quadratic curve. You can't do it. Bezier curves can be described by higher-order equations than cubic, too. Look up Bezier Curve in Wikipedia and you'll find some animated depictions. Quartic and higher-order Beziers can create even more supple curves with fewer on-path anchors. But in addition to being more computationally demanding, constructing a reasonalbly intuitive interface would become increasingly difficult. So the defacto standard cubic Bezier interface you don't like (right now) is a balance between useability, functionality, and computational efficiency. And it's the right balance. And that's why it's the curve rendering equation used by PostScript. (Remember PostScript? PostScript is the language of the print world. The original intent of FreeHand, Illustrator, and most programs like them was the PostScript-centric print environment.)
How about you... Can you create a perfectly smooth circular shape without any blunt or sharp edges, and without painstakingly fine tuning every curve?
I can do what you can actaully do with quadratic curves using more versatile cubic Beziers--but using your quadratic curve tools does not ensure "circular" curves. Users accustomed to quadratic Bezier tools and trying to become familiar with cubic Bezier tools often struggle because they think it necessary to add curvePoints in the middle of curves. That's usually not necesary.
That's one large reason why the ability to use a gesture to bend straight segments without imposing an additional segment is so valueable in a cubic Bezier interface. FreeHand has provided this for most of its history (the so-called "Bendomatic" method). Illustrator does not. Xara Designer Pro has what most AI, FH, CV, CD users (including myself) would consider a sub-standard Pen tool. But it almost makes up for that by simply providing this one important interface element.
The click-then-bend method lets you simply click, click, click along while drawing a path, and intuitively bend the resulting straight segments into smooth curves anytime you want, as you proceed. It's a great way to teach newcomers to programs like FreeHand because it is simple, intuitive, and predictable. It enables those new to cubic Bezier drawing to get up-to-speed quickly. But it is not just a beginners' tool. I take advantage of it quite often in programs which provide it.
But since you specifically mention wanting to ensure circular curves, again I will suggest you should take a look at Inkscape. (It's open source--cost-free--by the way, so you have nothing to loose by trying it.) Below, the red line indicates the shape drawn quickly and loosely with the Pen tool, which has the conventional-wisdom cubic Bezier interface, familiar and intuitive to users of all mainstream drawing programs like AI, FH, CV, CD. The black path is the automatically-generated result when the Spiro Spline feature is turned on:
Unfortunately, the image below shows the resulting cubic Beziers after invoking the Object To Path command. Far more segments than necessary to draw the figure, had it been drawn deliberately without the Spiro Spline option:
So the Spiro Spline idea is an intriguing innovation, and useful for those willing to explore it, but still a work-in-progress (as open source should be--that's a good thing) in terms of interface, as I take it.

  • Blackberry Curve 9310

    Hi
I want to ask a question? and see if its possible, I have verizon for almost 4 yrs, right now I'm able to upgrade the phone, but I want to wait until January to buy the new Blackberry with OS 10. but the current phone that I have rigth now is broken, and I don't have insurance, but I don't want to sign a two years contract, but I was thinking if is possible to use a curve 9310 from boost mobile on the verizon Network, I was checking the specs and both are CDMA, can anyone help me with my inquire.
    Thanks.

        Hi civic20,
I understand your desire to wait for the release of a future device to use your upgrade! While we do not have any information about future phones, it is very possible that all manufacturers (including RIM) will be launching new devices some time in the near future. As indicated by Spiral (thank you!) only Verizon Wireless branded phone will work in our network. What happened to your phone? Has it sustained water/physical damage? If you have insurance you can process an insurance replacement claim online at http://PhoneClaim.com/Verizon at your convenience. If you do not have insurance you can get a Certified Pre-Owned phone at a discount with our http://goo.gl/3CLWS CPO replacement program. I want you to have a working phone, I trust that one of the above options will work for you. Happy holidays!

  • Mini DVI to Video Curving

    Hi,
I just bought a mini-DVI to video cable and am hooking my macbook up to my tv through a composite video cable. It's not working properly and the picture on the tv curves at the edges, almost like it's projecting an image onto a regular tv that has a curved screen. My tv is a flat-screen CRT, not a curved one, and I can't find any options to change the settings so that it won't try to project a curved image. Anyone know anything on this?

reamsjp is right. That curving is in your TV. It is even present when you are watching normal TV programs but it can be hard to tell without straight lines in the image to reference. But if you really go looking for it, say by putting a TV guide table up on the screen that has a lot of straight lines in it, you will be able to see the same curvature.
Hopefully your TV has a submenu for making some adjustments as reamsjp says, but likely you won't be able to improve it much. It's the nature of the beast, flat screen or not.

  • View holidays in iCal 5.0.3

    sorry may be a dup...
how do I view holidays in iCal 5.0.3???

Apple does not comment on their design decisions, and certainly won't do so here. If you want to comment to Apple, you can do so via their feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
The only way to "resolve" the issue as of right now is to use some other calendar application. But even BusyCal, the most common iCal alternative, doesn't display more than one month at a time in the sidebar.
    Regards.

As you haven't told us who your email provider is, no.
There isn't an SMTP server for Greece - it is either provided by your email provider, or the Internet provider you are connected through.

  • Caller ID not working on 8330 Curve

Does anyone know how to fix the caller ID on my 8330 curve. Incoming calls from my address book are coming in as "unknown number" - its only some of the contacts, not all. BB supprt and Sprint couldn't figure it out.
    Thanks!

First, go into the Phone app (press the Green [Call] button), then hit the [Menu] button (button to the LEFT of the TrackBall) and select Options --> Smart Dialing.  Make sure your Country Code and Area Code are set correctly.
Also, make sure that phone numbers in your Address Book entries are formatted like a phone number.  The most standard format is:
    +1 (123) 123-1234
    for the US.

  • Need help with Holiday script

    Hi All,
I am not sure why my Holiday scripts keep returning Null, I have attached the script and xml files.
If someone can help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Hamed

So if you read through the logic of the script, it looks for Hokiday1 in the XML file theN Holiday2 then Holiday3, etc. As soon as it find one that doesn't exist is when the loop ends. If it doesn't find any, it returns null. Since your XML file starts with Holiday2, it returns null when looking for Holiday1 and then exits the script. I would try changing your XML file to begin with Holiday1 and aee what the debugging looks like after that.
