S in aperture starts slideshow

Is anyone having the problem of when making a slideshow in aperture  and choosing a music with the letter s in it the slideshow automaticaly starts it is realy anoying.

I just ran into the same problem. I was going to switch to Aperture completely until iPhoto went from 5 to 6. It has a lot of the new features that Aperture has but there are still some awesome features in Aperture that I can't live without. One thing Aperture is missing is that it doesn't check for duplicates when importing pics. So what I decided to do is use iPhoto as my importer (whether from a camera or folder), and then use Aperture's import menu to import the rolls or pictures I want. If you haven't tried it out yet, do so. It is really awesome since it lets you select the rolls as they are saved in iPhoto and gives you a preview of each picture.

  • Is it possible to start slideshow from current picture?

There is possibility to select bunch of images and than start slideshow and slideshow will use only selected pictures but this is not what I want:
I want it to start from photo that I curently viewing in full scree.
    I *do not want* to:
    1. exit full screen
    2. going to browser
    3. than selecting rest of photos
    4. than hitting shift+S for slideshow
I just want to hit shift+S and to slideshow starts right from picture that I curently looking.
I hope I was clear enought
    Thanx in advance!

If you mean on the phone (like J2ME apps on a cellphone) then the answer is no. However, if you can run the application on the server, then of course.. you just need a way to send a request to the server (e.g. a softkey button which makes a call to http://your-server/path/yourApplication) which triggers the application and does god knows what.

  • Using Aperture 3 slideshows on iWeb 09

Hi - I am trying to use aperture 3 slideshows on iweb instead of flash but the quality is lacking - the sharm movie files are over 30mb so when compressed to around 10mb loses image quality
see here : http://web.me.com/ruperteden/casasnaareia (click on image)
the movies are slow to load on Firefox and do not load at all using Google Chrome ?
Does anybody have a solution to increase image quality keeping files small enough ?
Steve Jobs if you are reading this please can you come up with a solution quickly or I will have to revert back to Adobe Flash which like you I hate using !
    Thanks in advance !

OK but the problem I am having is maintaining crisp image quality while compressing QT files of over 30mb generated by Aperture slideshow export ?
also the movies only really play on Safari - other browsers are clumsy and slow ?
Can anyone suggest an alternative ?

  • Aperture starts automatically constantly

Using Aperture 3.51 on Mac OS X Maverics, Aperture starts by itself.  I quit out of it, and a few minutes later, it comes back.  Nothing in the login items.
    Any Clues??

Have you set Aperture to open, when a camera is connected?
In the Aperture Preferences > Import panel?
Then Aperture may be launching automatically, when you are syncing a phone, iPod, iPad, insert card readers, or simililar. Or, if your card reader slot has some fluffin it, creating accidental contacts, your mac might assume erraniously, that a card is plugged in and launch Aperture.

  • Aperture Starts and ...

Starting about two weeks ago, Aperture starts, the splash screen comes up (and will not go away unless you select about and then click on new splash screen) and most menu items are gray. No images appear. Checking preferences and changing them to my external LaCie (1TB) gives no relief. Double clicking on the library opens Aperture with the same results. Restore from vault works to create a new library, but no change in operation. The library package appears fine (all projects, etc. show when I open library as package). The library is 191GB (as it was prior to failure). I cannot isolate any event that caused this. Any suggestions or opinions are welcomed. My next option is to by Lightroom.

I had already reinstalled to no avail. I created a new user and was amazed that it worked ... until I pointed it to the library of my images. It then reverted back to non functionality. I copied the library and created a new user, no luck.
So it sounds like it is actually failing, originally, because it can't access your library.
I assume the library is on an external drive - if it is, as a further test you could 'ignore ownerships on this volume' for that drive, and see if it then works...

  • "Start Slideshow" Font

So I change my website background to black (from white)...The "Start Slideshow" text on the slideshow is also black, and I can't figure out how to change it. Has anyone figured out how? As of know I am entering in my own text and placing it on top of the button - it's a decent workaround, but I'd rather not do it.
    Thanks

Perhaps use the Black Templates rather than the White ones?
Then just copy paste everything from one page to the other, the themes are predetermined.

  • Aperture 3 slideshow to iDVD to blank DVD:  export commands seem contradictory

This problem is actually related to Aperture v3.3.2 and iDVD v7.1.2 and my previous attempt (11/14/2014) to create a preliminary slideshow (with captions and music track) on Aperture that when completed can be exported to iDVD and then in its final form to a blank DVD.  Now I’m trying to use tutorials.  The problem is when I pull up iDVD webpage, the pop-up tutorial window is unpredictable. The four project buttons (“Create a New Project”, “Open an Existing Project”, “Magic iDVD”, “OneStep DVD”) are okay, opening to the expected start window.  But the long button named “Video Tutorials” is inert and doesn’t do anything except to open to a standard “Apple – Mac: iMac” sales window. Has Apple decommissioned that button because of changed iDVD status?  I think I need those tutorials to finish my iDVD project. Otherwise, I’ll have to use my 2009 “iMovie ’09 & iDVD Portable Genius” manual, which is okay, but I want to at least try the tutorial route before I exhaust all options.
Two members of the Aperture help community have already been kind enough to offer helpful suggestions to my earlier posting on the problem, but iDVD doesn’t seem to be intuitive enough to benefit from work-arounds.  The “Getting Started” PDF off the iDVD Help pull-down seems promising (35 pages), but the “Video Tutorials” is useless.  It opens to a standard “Apple – Mac: OS X Yosemite” sales window.
I understand that Apple hasn’t supported iDVD for quite awhile, but any help will be greatly appreciated. A.Z.

I don't use Aperture so don't know if it can export a slideshow as iPhoto does.  But if it can here's how it's done with iPhoto:
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.   For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p as the size.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Aperture 3 slideshow: How to stop and then restart  at the same point?

I am about to give a slideshow in Aperture 3 (or could use iPhoto). I need to run the show for a while, stop it and then use a different app and then come back to Aperture and restart the slideshow from where I stopped it.
Simply pausing and restarting the slideshow by pressing the space bar doesn't allow you to leave the app and do something else.
Once you leave the aperture or iPhoto, even if you move the playhead or select a photo in the middle of your show, it will always start back at the beginning.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Start slideshow from manually chosen slide

There are 50 slides in my project.
How can I manually choose any of these slides and begin the slideshow there (e.g. choosing slide number 14 and beginning the slideshow from there)?
I can do this easily in iPhoto, but it doesn't work in Aperture - when I select, for example, slide 14 and try to start the slideshow from that slide, it always begins only from the beginning (i.e. slide 1).

Have you considered to export your Slideshow as a High Definition Quicktime movie for the presentation? Then you might use iMovie to add chapter markers. However, exporting takes a long time for rendering and will need plenty of aditional disk space.
But if you still have iPhoto that will be the best option for your needs.

  • Iphoto and aperture start up problem with Yosemite

Just found out that after installing Yosemite, both my iPhoto and aperture library took very long in order to show up contents after start up. Not sure what causes the delay, does anyone else experience the same problem? For reference, I am using late 2013 15" Macbook pro.

In the case of Aperture you can open the Activity window and check what Aperture is doing.
From Aperture's main menu bar:   Window  > Show Activity
When Aperture launched the first time, I saw the following activities, that took a noticable amount of time:
    Importing iCloud photos
    Scanning faces
    Rendering previews for iCloud videos.

Bill ~ If you create a QuickTime movie slideshow, in iWeb's Inspector > QuickTime tab, you can set the Autoplay option. Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded QT slideshow (not mine):
    http://www.heese-cadieux.com/Home.html
    ...and done like this:
iPhoto > select photos > File > Export... > QuickTime tab ...set width and height, etc.
Then iWeb > Media button > Movies tab ...drag in your movie created above by iPhoto.
Then iWeb > Inspector > QuickTime tab ...settings (such as Autoplay).
Note: The above generates a QT slideshow of small file size and thus appears quickly in a web browser.

  • How do I make a DVD from an Aperture 3 slideshow?

I am a new user to Aperture 3 and I was wondering if an Aperture slideshow (with video) can be exported to iMovie or IDVD so I can burn it to a disk? I see the information for viewing it on the iPhone or MobileMe but I didn't see anything indicating I could burn it to a DVD.

    Hi Terence,
I'm trying to do the same thing, but I don't see the option for Quicktime?
    I see:
    ipod
    Iphone/Ipod Touch
    mobile me/youtube
    appletv
    hd 720
    hd1080
and custom, which has h.264 and mpeg4
I don't see any options for a NTSC 16:9 uncompressed quicktime file which I can export to compressor for DVD compression before dropping into DVD Studio Pro?
I must be missing a step?
Cheers and thanks in advance for any help.

  • "Some photos need to be prepared to view them at full size" message when starting slideshow

I'm pretty new to iPhoto so I'm sorry if these questions are obvious to you, but they're not to me!
From the "Photos" section on iPhoto, with no photos selected, I accidentally started a slideshow with all my photos by pressing the play button on the keyboard and got this message:
"Some photos need to be prepared to view them at full size. Do you want to continue using the current size or prepare the photos so that only full size images are used? This may take some time." With these options: Cancel / Prepare Photos / Continue Playback.
I pressed "Esc" on the keyboard and it clicked "Prepare Photos" instead of "Cancel" as I expected, it started the process and I clicked "Cancel" to stop it, and the slideshow started. When the slideshow was playing, everything froze, I pressed cmd-alt-esc, no window appeared and iPhoto quit immediately. Could it have caused damages to the library? Could it be a reason to restore the iPhoto Library from Time Machine? I didn't get any error message when I reopened iPhoto.
Not to leave the process incomplete later I decided to start another slideshow and this time I clicked "Prepare Photos" and let it complete the process. Now when I start another slideshow I don't get that message anymore.
I have no idea what this process did to my photos and couldn't find an answer anywhere. This library is very important to me, so I'm wondering if I should restore the iPhoto Library from a Time Machine backup.
Could canceling the process the first time have caused any damage to my photos?
What is this preparation? What did it do to my photos? Have my photos been resized, or somehow modified?
    Thanks

Ok, thank you very much. I still don't know exactly what the "preparation" did to my photos but now I guess that nothing bad happened. Thanks

  • Exporting 30 minute aperture 3 slideshow and incorrect image sequence

I have just exported a 30 minute slideshow in 1080p from Aperture 3 overnight, a combination of photos and videos taken on my iphone. I added various music tracks and all plays fine in preview. After export the music plays correct but is accompanied by incorrect photos and videos from the sequence, as if the order of images/videos has got shuffled up! I have all the latest updates installed. Has anyone else experienced this and know a workaround?

Oh, baby! This bad boy flies!! Here's what to expect:
I had 40,000 images in Aperture 3 and it was dog slow at everything. I installed 3.1 update today. It took 5 minutes to update the database and then behaved marginally better than before at ASIC library navigation. I was disappointed.
Then I QUIT the app. It took a couple of hours to "update files for sharing" with a counter that went to 110,000 images. So it must have updated every thumbnail and variation of preview. Turned it back on , and BAM. Came up fully in seconds. Paused for 10 seconds ten everything was lickrty split. For the first time ever, I can use the Projects view with all 791 projects and scroll quickly. I even put it in photos modevand whipped thru all 49,000 images!
Haven't done anybprocessing yet, but i'm liking it!!
