My Airport base station has a status message that says "This AirPort base station doesn't have any DNS server addresses and might have trouble connecting to the internet." What does this mean and how can I fix it?

My internet is still working, but it's very intermittent. This happened after I updated the firmware a few days ago.

Did you remember to completely power cycle the entire network?
You would want to do this after any update or change to the network.
If you did not do this yet......things are out of sequence.
Power off everything on the network.....all devices.....power down order is not important
Wait a few minutes
Start the modem first and let it run a minute or two by itself
Start the next device connected to the modem the same way
Work your way out on the network starting each device about a minute apart
Check the network

PrintJobMgr stopped w/status 85, what does this mean?

I'm trying to print Wireless, it printed last week but now my 21" Intel iMac keeps refusing to print for various reasons. It recognizes the printer but the latest notice is "The process 'PrintJobMgr' stopped unexpectedly with status 85"

I've been looking since Aug 8 for a way to restore my iMac to it's previous ability to print wirelessly. Today I found the answer. I read of another person's solution who used Bonjour.

However, this did not work for me, I'd tried it before but thought there may be something I missed (there often is). Sure enough, there was a link that led me to --- Resetting my "Server" ---. Duh! What's a "Server"?, asketh I.
I discovered there are many "Servers" (see Wikipedia) so I started with my "Print Server", no luck; then my "Airport Server" (eMac "Host"), no luck; then my "Wireless Server" (my Linksys Router). Voila!!! I can now print wirelessly via my iMac 21" Intel Core 2 Duo. (AND I learned what a "Server" is LOL )

BT Desk Top Help Up-Date Message - What's this all...

I have been getting a dialog box appear at the bottom of my display for the past few weeks stating that there is a Desk Top Help up-date available for my Home Hub - click to download up-date. etc.
It's genuine enough as I can access it from my BT Broadband Desktop Help section of the main BT web page.
My point is, as I have just tried again to download it, after 8% of the download it comes up with a dialog that tells me there are 'issues with BT downloading right now' and to try again, later.
Well, I have 'tried again later' for the past three weeks, in the morning and in the evening and everytime it has stopped at the 8% stage.
Anyone know what this is all about?
Anyone know what the up-date brings to the party?
Anyone find Desk Top Help (DTH) is actually helpfull? I ask this because every time it pops up telling me there is a problem with either my email accounts or my hub connection, and do I want DTH to assist me in fixing it, it runs through it's procedures but ends by telling me everything is ok and there is nothing wrong! I could have told it that before it started!!
After a few weeks of having this come up when you are right in the middle of something, then being forced to wait whilst it 'does it's thing' only to find nothing was in-fact wrong, becomes extremely annoying.
Do we actually need it?
Any useful tips/points/advice/experiences would be appreciated.

I had posted a fix on a problem like this on a different thread and it should work for you too
Have a look at my post here and see it it does the trick.
With regards to how useful Desktop Help is, we have reports from literally thousands of customers each month that this fixs problems for them. Maybe not everyones cup of tea but from what I see it works really well.

So I have this problem with the Visual Voicemail to but it started when I switched my Data Plan at AT&T from the Unlimited to the DataPro with Tethering.
I did it to prepare for iOS4 any suggestions, No I do not have a 3rd Party Profile on my phone.

Permissions Warning Message -- What does this mean?

I was helping my mother (over the phone) to Repair Permissions in Disk Utility since her Mac Mini was experiencing some odd glitches like not being able to restart or shut down. Everything else seems to work fine.
When repairing permissions she got this message:
*+Warning: SUID File "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARD Agent.tp/Contents/MacOS/ARD Agent" has been modified and will not be repaired.+*
Does anyone know what this means and if it could be the source of her problem? She is using OS 10.6.0 Snow Leopard, updated recently from OS 10.5 Leopard at an Apple Store. Thanks.

This describes the problem as being a cartridge error, in which case I would follow the instructions in this document and see if that resolves the issue:

that does not resolve the issue, then I would recommend performing a hard reset of the printer. This would involve unplugging the printer for thirty seconds from both the back of the unit as well as from the outlet it is plugged into and then plugging the machine back in and powering it on.
A few additional questions are: Is this printer plugged into a surge protector, wall outlet or battery backup? The ink you are using, are they original HP cartriges or have they been refilled before?

Help! BB (Curve 8520)stopped sending texts today and a little red icon (letter L within a red circle) comes up by unsent texts. Cannot see what has changed,or why it's happened and most importantly cannot rectify it! Any thoughts, views or advice would be really appreciated. I can receive texts.

Hello, About a year ago I bought a Canon MX450 printer & scanner, and I don't think it's ever worked properly. I usually have to reinstall the drivers every couple of uses, and the wi-fi feature has never worked properly so it's always connected to my MacBook Air vis USB in order to print. Today, all of the sudden, the scanner tool started telling me to "Select Area To Scan", instead of actually, you know, scanning. Problem is, I can't find any item in Canon documentaiton (online or otherwise) telling me what the heck that means or what to do about it. Even a Google search is fruitless. Pretty frustrating when a printer/scanner will neither print nor scan properly. Anyone have any clue?

DiskWarrior Error Message - What does this Mean??

Maybe this has been touched on, but I can't find it. I get this message when I try to repair permissions with DiskWarrior 4.1 on Mac Pro with 10.5.5. It's always worked before, but now?? I can rebuild directory OK, I can check all files and folders, etc. with DW. I can also Repair Permissions OK with Disk Utility, and repair disk with DU. Everything but permissions. I've booted from a Clone and ran DW from that to my target HD. I even zapped the PRAM. Any ideas??

I got that error just once, when running permissions from the computer, before the CD arrived. The second time I ran it I got no error. I think I had some programs open/running at the time.
You might ask alsoft about it, unless others here have a fix or have seen the same error.

Error Message - What does this mean

Hi all
I was burning more than one copy of a DVD using DVD SP when I received an error message communicating a failure write to DVD.
Initially I assumed it was a DVD media error [faulty disk] however when I changed to the second internal DVD burner using the same blank DVD media the error message did not come up again. In addition I had also tried a second blank DVD disk in the first internal DVD burner and it also failed... It may be a bad batch of blank DVD disks however I have never encountered two in a row, let alone the rarity for me of finding one +in a row+. Could it be the burner?
Here is the error:
The recording device reported the media error: Unknown device error.
...and a second error message came up after collapsing the first error message window stating that:
Formatting failed
The recording device reported the media error: Unknown device error. (0x73, 0x03.)

As you mentioned it could be a bad disc or a bad batch of discs. Your machine is new, so even though it could be the drive I would look at the discs first. (Dirty drives or drives going bad can act real weird, being able to burn the DVD but not actually read it back and other things.)
But first check out this thread about discs and how the can behave which came up in the last day or so. Even though it is a DL there, the same thing can happen with SL. (Even discs sitting in a spindle for awhile can start going bad.) I have never had an issue with the Taiyo Yuden I mention in this thread

Itunes error message-what does this mean????

My eMac stopped working so I had to do an archive and reinstall. I did all the software updates and tried to play my purchased music in itunes. It said I had to authorize my computer and enter my password. I did and it gave me this error- "Could not complete your itunes store request. A required itunes component is not installed. (-42404). I checked and I have the latest version of itunes. I even tried to re-create my itunes library and that didn't help.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Or am I out of luck?

Remove iTunes and reinstall iTunes.
