S.M.A.R.T Verified or not??...

I've recently been having trouble with my disk utility recently and a very shutdown probs. When I boot from my OSX disk and select my only internal drive, it says "S.M.A.R.T Not supported" But when I'm in OSX using disk utility it says "Verified" Is this right? as I heard if it says anything other than verified, to just replace the drive for a new one.

Though loss of S.M.A.R.T status can be a predicater to drive failure, it's not always the case. The advice to replace a non S.M.A.R.T status drive, is still most likely good advice. Relegating it to non critical tasks, or duplicate backup can also be a good use for the drive (while monitoring it's health....).
So, you might as well do as you would if a MD tells you that surgery is needed- get another opinion. Give S.M.A.R.T Reporter a try, then you will have some more info on which to base your decision:

"image size could not be verified - operation not performed" when I go to restore to my hard drive. What do?

I want to restore my disk image using disk utility. I keep getting "image size could not be verified - operation not performed" when I go to restore to my hard drive. What do?
I would like to partition my disk but it says I have to restore my disk image first so that files can be moved. This is really obnoxiously hard for someone who is only moderately tech savy. Any help is appreciated, but please no links to 3rd party sites. I would like to keep this with the software I already have.

2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

Icolud verify email not received

When enrolling in iCloud service, email to verify account not being received.
Any ideas?

Thanks Wegras - regretably I've tried all those and nothing seemed to get an email sent to her prime address.
I suspect that a verify email was sent a couple of years ago when she first had her iPod and it has been deleted. Of course until the email address is verified it won't use the alternative email address for anything. Because that alternative email address is already linked to a valid Apple Id, it can't be used to create a new Apple Id. Hmmmm - catch 22!
However she can still access Apple Store!! So she can still buy Apps.
So, I've booked a call from Apple Support. Hopefully they will be able to do something to the Apple Id to kick it back into life.

Hostname verifier does not get invoked

I am new to weblogic and currently facing an issue with SSL. I checked this forum but none of the solutions really worked for me, so seeking advice starting a new thread. Kindly help.
Problem 1
I have a REST webservice running in one weblogic server and another weblogic server contains a client which is based on the code from the following link -

One way handshaking is enabled in both the weblogic and the KeyStore and Truststore are read from configurable directory in the client java code. I specify a directory which resides outside weblogic home.
Even though there is an HostnameVerifier implemented in the code to return true always, it does not get invoked and I get a certificate exception as below -
<Warning> <Security> <BEA-090542> <Certificate chain received from xx.yy.zz.rrr - xx.yy.zz.rrr was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure. Check the certificate chain to determine if it should be trusted or not. If it should be trusted, then update the client trusted CA configuration to trust the CA certificate that signed the peer certificate chain. If you are connecting to a WLS server that is using demo certificates (the default WLS server behavior), and you want this client to trust demo certificates, then specify -Dweblogic.security.TrustKeyStore=DemoTrust on the command line for this client.>
But when I run the java client from Eclipse I am able to invoke the webservice methods using HTTPs.
So is not it possible to add a default hostname verifier as in the java code when the application is deployed in weblogic?
Problem 2
I another attempt to solve the above issue I turned off the hostname verification from weblogic admin console in the client weblogic side. In the console for the server Configuration > SSL->Hostname Verification field is set to "None". But that did not help.
Then I added the '-Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true' flag into the <domain>/bin/startWebLogic.sh file and restarted the weblogic. No luck again.

I tried recreating the certificate using the' hostname' instead of the ip address ( also added an entry into the /etc/hosts file putting the ip and hostname so that I can do ping <hostname> from the client and get response returned from the server side). Again no luck :(. I keep getting the same handshake failure as mentioned above.
The weblogic version is 10.x.

I did some more research for the issue mentioned which I yet to get rid of.
1) I wrote a REST web service which makes a call to another REST service deployed on another weblogic using HTTPs (same code as mentioned above is used). I delpoyed the war and made a http call to the first webservice, the other REST service was invoked successfully using HTTPs. So this confirmed that there is no problem with the certificates or keystore or hostname verifictaion.
2) My actual application still throws the handshake exception as below -

So I think the problem is something else but weblogic is priniting the exception message wrong.
The process hierarchy ( in UNIX ) is as shown below -

Craigslist verify emails not coming in to iCloud Mail accounts

Hello, I edited a Cragslist Posting Monday and again most recently a little while ago today. Both times it said it would email a link to me to confirm the changes and to post the modified ad, and Craigslist is saying the verify emails went out.
In both cases I did not receive the 'modify' confirmation emails in my iCloud inbox. I have Craigslist's domain whitelisted in my email application. In both cases I did check, and did not find the Craigslist messages in my spam folder (locally or on iCloud when able to log-in), which I check regularly. I was also able to receive other emails from Craigslist, including ad replies, other posting confirmations, etc. so I don't think the issue is on my end.
Please look into this issue and if iCloud is blocking or bouncing Craigslist emails.

I am having a similar issue. A few days ago, I stopped receiving emails from any address that originated from my husband's company [email protected] IT there has confirmed that the email "left" their system. I can also receive the same emails in my msn inbox without a problem, but nothing comes into my icloud inbox from that domain. I am receiving other emails without a problem. I've checked everything I can think of to check on email preferences, filters, etc and everything looks fine there. Any information regarding a solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

DB- verify does not return memory to process

Hello.
I have an app that uses a simple concurrent data disk store. At init time, it does the following:
create an env
open the env
create a db
set btree compare func
verify the db (i.e. DB->verify)
close the db
close the env
create an env
open the env
create a db
set btree compare func
open the db
begin using db...
If my db file is large to begin with, say 4 GB, after the DB->verify call my app will be using upwards of 2.9 GB of memory. However, the app continues to use the same amount of memory after the db and env are closed and re-created. If I skip the verify step and simply open the db to begin with, memory usage is much much less.
I am calling verify with flags set to 0 and a NULL database and outfile parameter. I need to call verify to make sure that my db file is not corrupt before using it. I am using BDB 4.8.24. Tests were done on a CentOS 5.3 64 bit machine.
Am I doing something wrong? How do I clean up after calling verify so I can get my memory back?

Verify Database not working!

I have a requirement for a database to be verified everytime the report is run, because of the dynamic nature of the data behind the report. However, the ReportClientDocument.verifyDatabase() is not behaving as I think it should. I assume it should behave the same as using the 'Verfy Database' comand within CR2008.
NOTE: The report works PERFECTLY without the verifyDatabase() command. But because of the dynamic nature of the data you have to keep using 'Verify database' via the CR2008 designer! This is not sustainable.

I generally agree with Mylene here, however this is also a special case.
If you read SAP note 888889 then you will see that it is an intentional "heads-up" from SAP to take a look into the related notes, and (as was before) not the case that you have to find the problem first to need to fix the program error in your system.
The related notes of 888889 are to my knowledge designed in such a way that you can install them using SNOTE without any manual corrections required, and they fix only undesirable SAP standard system behaviour without any reasonable chance of customer specific use of it being impacted.
Basically, it blocks a known (and published) security error.

This is true. It would go on forever... Just dumping note numbers into the forum is not the intention of them.
I think the thread can be closed and more specific questions about the content of individual notes or risk rating of them etc can be asked, if required. Generally, if you look at the correction blocks you can anyway work out what's going on and would probably want to implement them as a result.

DIsk verify/repair not working

My computer seemed a bit slow and slightly erratic so it seemed time for a rerun of disk utility. Disk repair ran so far, then exited leaving an error message: 'The underlying task reported failure on exit'. I tried verify, then repair permissions, both stated "No valid packages". So I then started up with install disk and Disk Utility ran repair successfully - but verify or repair from the CD still gave 'No valid packages' Can anyone tell me what this means and what I should do?
The machine still seems to start and run OK. My 60Mb disk has about 8.5 Mb free. Is this insufficient and has this affected anything.

I assume you mean GB, not MB. 8.5GB is kind of getting down there for Tiger and could have contributed to this, especially if the disk has been in use for a long time with large files and files may have become highly fragmented.
If Disk Utility won't repair a volume you have two options.
One is to copy off what files you can (bearing in mind that your directory has errors so it may not 100% know where all the bits and pieces are to all the files). Then erase the drive, reinstall the operating system, copy files back on.
Another is to buy a utility such as Diskwarrior and let it rebuild the directory. This will be a lot faster, but will, of course, cost about $100 for the software. Other software packages (TechToolPro, Drive Genius, etc.) may be able to do the same. DW is a one trick application but is probably the best at what it does.
Many say keep 15% of your drive free at all times for OSX to have room to run. With a 60GB HD that's only 9GB (which is why I don't like that "15%" recommendation since on a 2TB drive that would be 300GB which is ridiculously large). I check my virtual memory use in Activity Monitor and see that for my computer this is usually 6GB. I figure maybe 3x that is good for wiggle room and try to leave 18GB free at all times.

Verify identity not working

In all of the PC settings windows requires to verify your identity.
In some tabs sentence this just disappears after pressing "Verify" link (nothing else happens), in others verify link is not clickable.
So how can I change One Drive settings for example? (requires verifying)

Which account we used on this machine? Could you please explain a bit for the Verify here?
If possible, please share us a screenshot.
If it is an Microsoft Account, there would be no need to verify the current account. We could access PC settings and change the settings there.
If the logon account is a local account, we need to switch to an Microsoft account, or connect to an Microsoft account under
PC settings -> Users and Accounts.

I have added a member, who is showed in apex as "verified" for days now. But he's still not in the Participants list of the workspace. What could go wrong? What to do to fix the problem?
