Question

i just connect my cruppted external hard disk to my iMac G5 through the USB cable, i got the msg in the finder which is gave me 3 different options: initialize, cancel & Eject.
i tried to open the Disk Utility to repair the disk, but the REPAIR DISK buttom is not enabled which means i can't repair it, and i noticed the S.M.A.R.T status: NOT SUPPORTED which is supposed to be "verified", is there any solution i could try to rebuild the hard disk and get the data inside?
i tried with Disk Warrior but its the same thing, REBUILD buttom is not enabled, does this means the hard disk is crashed and no way to retreive the data ?

Not necessarily, but it does mean the drive is unreadable. You may still be able to recover your files by using file recovery software such as Data Rescue II (www.prosofteng.com) or File Salvage (www.subrosasoft.com.)
SMART reporting is not enabled in USB or Firewire enclosures which is why you receive the "Not Supported" status in Disk Utility. The drive supports SMART but the USB/Firewire bridge cards in the enclosures do not.
