S/MIME in iOS5

Hello there,
Has anyone heard any news regarding the inclusion of S/MIME on iOS5? I know it is still a few months off - I was just curious if any details about this have been released that I have not been able to find yet. Specifically, the ability to import .pfx certs as you currently can with the S/MIME Reader 3rd-party app? And how (if at all) would it interact with Public keys stored in the Global Address List in an MS Exchange environment?
The S/MIME Reader app works, but is cumbersome, and only works well for reading encrypted emails. S/MIME is pretty much the only reason my management is hanging on to their Blackberries - this could be the tipping point if the implementation is good.

How to list S/MIME certificates of mail recipients in iOS5

Hi!
Maybe someone can answer my question: Can all (at least S/MIME) certificates be displayed that are stored on the phone?
S/MIME seems to work fine. However I'd like to be able to look at the certs that are currently available (as I can with MMC and the cert snap-in in Windows ;-) or keychain in Lion). So I'd expect some listing and an option for a detailed view (as it is available for my own certificates).
Why? Well, apart having an overview of whom I might send encrypted mails to (before having this checked by the mail app), I am interested in the certificates. There are a couple of certs that only work via email-address-verfication, others require a strict proof of identity......

@duggabe, Not actually. That would just sort "threads/conversations" by date. The From column would continue to show the first sender for each thread/conversation.

My problem is i don't have an outgoing server spot on my menu. These are my selections. After getting to the menu that where i enter my password for hotmail, i have the following menu choices: Email, then server (bay-m.hotmail.com, then domain (empty), then username, then password, thendescription, then Use SSL, then S/MIME
I don't see or can find an outgoing server choice. My daughter has an ipad2 using Ios4 and she has all the choices that are illustrated on. All the help sites. I only have the ones listed above.

S/MIME Issue when replying to mail

I have encouter the following issue. :
1/ I have installed on the iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1) :
- Certificate Authority : Verisign "Root CA" and Verisign "Sub CA"
- Personnal Certificate : my certificate (deliver by Verisign)
2/ Activate S/MIME Feature (sign and encryption) on my ActiveSync Mail Account on the iPhone.
2/ I can received encrypted mail from a collegue and read-it on the iPhone.
3/ He sent me a signed mail. I have then trusted and installed his certificate.
4/ I can sent him an encrypted mail in a NEW mail. he can read-it.
5/ I can REPLY to his mail but HE CAN'T READ IT. The mail is not tag as Encrypted Mail and there is no content in the body of the mail (Outlook)
Do you already encounter this issue ?

IPhone 4 iOS5 Security Certificate difficulty

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS5 installed. I'm trying to use a security certificate issued by GlobalSign to be able to sign and encrypt email messages. I have installed the primary certificate that matches my email address, and the second level certificate for GlobalSign, on my iPhone. Both are in my profile and both are marked as trusted. When I go to make the setting in my email account, I turn on s/mime and then am prompted for the sign setting and the encrypt setting. By clicking on either, another screen opens to provide an option to select a certificate to use for the selected function; however, it shows that there are "no valid certificates" and won't let me turn on the sign or encrypt function. Any ideas? Not sure why it's not seeing the certificate in my Profile, or if there is another setting I need to make. Nothing in the user guide seems to address this problem. Thanks!

I know this is an old thread but I've been struggling w/ this problem for some time and haven't found a viable solution to the problem anywhere on the internet.
However, assigning a static IP to my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.2) in the router and on the phone seems to prevent it from constantly being dropped (so far, approx 4 hours).
I will be doing the same w/ a 3Gs and 4s for a couple other users and will report if their outcomes are different.
Hopefully this helps anybody who is still searching for a solution to this problem.

How can I use one Add-on prior to another for specific MIME-types?

I'm using Shockwave Flash plugin to watch some videos on YouTube, StreamCloud, etc. It also handles .mkv and .mp4 files/streams. After installing VLC Web plugin to handle MIME-types like mp3/4, mkv additionally and prior to the Flash plugin, Firefox keeps using Flash to handle those types insted. I cannot find options to set the desired priorities. Only disabling the Flash plugin solves my problem, but also keeps me from watching Flash contents, which Is not acceptable.
Did I miss something or is this Firefox's fault?

If you type or paste '''about:plugins''' in the address bar and press Enter, you can see which plugins are associated which various content types.
I do not know how to prioritize one over the other for the same content type if the plugin settings (plugins often have an interface outside of Firefox to adjust their settings) do not allow that.
As for MP4, I don't think Flash normally would be selected. I suspect the website is specifying a Flash media player and streaming the MP4 through that. If you want to hide the Flash plugin from a particular website, you can use the Permissions tab of the Page Info dialog.
Click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar, then More Information, then Permissions. The top section of the Permissions panel should be "Activate Plugins". Here you can select Block for Flash for the current site. After reloading the page, does the media play using a different plugin?

Using iOS5 on multiple devices

Is there a view on how to use iOS5 on multiple devices when multiple devices are owned by differing family members? i have an iPhone, my partner has an iPhone, and together we have an iPad. [i have a MBP as well but havent updated to Lion yet, dont knwo if this is part of this question]. iOS5 can sync to multiple devices so can we sync all apps and musc between the mobile devices? do they have to be on the same apple user ID? of have i got that wrong?
also contacts and photos wise, we both have our own photos, contacts, calendar and mail. can any/all of these be syncd between us all? i guess the one that would be syncd would be photos as youd want to see that on the ipad.

The iTunes account and iCloud accounts are not linked on your devices.
So you can each have an iCloud account that works on your iDevices nd all be logged into the same iTunes account in the iTunes Store, App Store, IBooks, etc.
You do really need your iMac to be on 10.7.2 as it was a requirement before you moved to iCloud, did you lie when asked the question "are all your devices ready for iCloud".

Error While Adding File in Mimes

Hello Experts,
I am new to WDA, and am trying to add a image as a mime object in the WD component.
But its giving an error "Error when Loading File"
I tried putting the image in the Mimes repository but still the same error.
Any clue what can be the problem,?
Is any authorization requered?
The image is of type jpg

u proceed as follows , thn u wud be able to import the mime object
1 go to Object Name -> create->mime object ->import
2 insert a UI elemnt of type image
3 bind it source property with the mime . u wud find mime here
COMPONENT IMAGES tab , when u click on the source property of image

After Upgrading to IOS5, iPad 1 Is No Longer Recognized by iTunes

Hi,
My iPad 1 with wifi/3G was working perfectly until I updated to iOS5. The update process seemed to have gone fine but at the end my iPad showed up in iTunes as an unrecognized device. Not only that, iTunes then gives the message: "We are unable to complete your activation at this time."
I have tried restarting my computer, restarting the iPad, restaring the iPad in safe mode, etc. Nothing has worked so far. I can't even restore the iPad since iTunes won't recognize it nor activate...
Anyone has any ideas how to resurrect the iPad?

Hey there! I know there have been many variations on this question in the forums, but I have not come across anything that could help so far.
I updated the iPad1 to iOS5 this Saturday. Afterwards, none of the music had transferred over, but as far as I could tell everything else was t here. Left it, & went to bed.
The next day, there were an extremely small amount of apps left on the device (though a few of the purchased ones are there).
From that point on, I have not been able to Sync the iPad. iTunes will no longer recognize/acknowledge it as being plugged in, though the laptop itself sees it and allows me to access parts of it like storage. [My computer, btw, is a laptop - a Toshiba Satellite]. I've tried rebooting the laptop and the iPad (the old press-&-hold-the-2-buttons-at-once trick). I've checked firewall settings. I've scoured the message boards for something that might help, but so far to no avail.
Any clue what else I can do?? Thanks!!!

Start by downloading the latest version of iTunes and reinstalling it.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Can't recover 3GS after IOS5 upgrade attempt - phone no longer seen in iTunes

Tried upgrade on 3GS to IOS5, got msg that iTunes detected phone in recovery mode and I must restore. iTunes no longer sees the phone so restore doesn't work. Win XP sees the phone driver when I connect the phone, and driver says it is working properly. Have went through the entire support topic "iPhone not appearing in iTunes" and found no problem. Rebooted computer 3 times and tried all USB ports - iTunes still doesn't see the phone. Any ideas on how to recover this phone?

my problem occurred when I upgraded to IOS5 on my iPhone 4. I received an unable to sync message that indicated that there was no space left on my iPhone; and a "Other" Capacity indicator appeared on the bottom of the iPhone device sync screen (in yellow color) and noted an overage of 12GB! Ofcourse, prior to the upgrade I actually had 6GB free on my 32GB iPhone. So, there is a bug. The following link indicates a few solutions and hopefully it will answer your concern. However, I had to restore as the first two solutions didn't work. Furthermore, about 3.3GB of "Other" remains while I synced up. Clearly, the problem has not been resolved. After iOS5 update, iPod no longer connects to car stereo

Hi,
my husband and I both have an iPod touch 4th generation.
We also have a Dodge Caravan with a car stereo, that lets up hook up the iPods and control them over the display. The cable does not charge the iPods, but we knew that.
I have updatedt my iPod a while ago and never encountered any problems with the car stereo.
My husband updated his iPod to iOS5 today, and the car stereo does not connect via the cable. On the iPods display it just says, an error has ocurred.
Would that be a hardware issue? The iPod is a month or two past warranty. We already tried restarting and resetting the iPod (not to factory settings).
Is there maybe a way, to return the iPod to iOS4?

Sometimes, when you cannot "see" your ipod, it is because the drive that was assigned to the ipod, when you connected it, is already being used by the other devise. Your ipod is connected, but is "under" the other item, which means that you have to disconnect that item, so that you can "see" it. It will not be one of the drives that are normally associated with the computer like the C drive, or the ones assigned to your disc drives. It would be a drive that was assigned to an external devise, or another USB devise. This may or may not be your problem, but it is worth a shot.
