S&OP constrained demand to be consumed by PPDS

Hi Experts,
We are running a scenario where S&OP's constrained demand will be transferred to PPDS for scheduling purposes and then to ECC for MRP. We have a S&OP on-premise system.
Will this integration require only data services or ABAP skills or both to push data into PPDS (livecache)?
Any guidance is highly appreciated.

Planning Strategy to consumer components from various Sales Orders

Sapers,
It seems that any planning component strategy will not reduce PIRs (Dep reqs). What I means is when you enter a Sales Order that has a component in but is completely MTO the demand from that component is not netted off against other demand that may be planned ?
I needs a solution whereby component demand can be consumed from multiple MTO sales orders that have that particular component in its BOM ?

when I applied strategy 70 it would only reduce the PIRs for the Higher level that was producing the dependent demand.
???? The strategy of a component has no impact on the PIRs of a parent. If the PIRs of your parent were being consumed, it was due to the strategy of the parent, not the component.

Yes, you must have had some settings wrong. However, I probably misled you, I meant to say 'dependent reservations', not 'dependent requirements'.
We are essentially using parent material forecast to drive demand for components with long lead times
I will assume that when you are saying 'parent', you are not talking about your finished goods. Please confirm.
Let us assume your BOM is FG1 > AS1 > RM1. Let us assume that you do not wish to forecast FG1. Let us further assume that you do not wish to build either FG1 or AS1 until the entry of a Sales order. In this case, you could enter strategy 70 at the RM1 level. You would procure RM1 via forecast entered at RM1. When the sales order was entered, the dependent demand from the FG1 sales order would cause you to generate Production orders for AS1. The dependent reservations from the AS1 productions orders would consume the forecast against RM1.
Now, as I understand your question, you wish instead to
1. Forecast AS1
2. Generate non-convertible orders for AS1
3. Generate convertible orders for RM1
4. Have the forecast in AS1 to be consumed by the dependent reservations of FG1.
I don't believe that there is a standard SAP strategy that meets these requirements. I would actually question why AS1 would even exist as an independent material, but I guess you probably have some legitimate business reason. It also raises the question of how the ATP for FG1 and AS1 would be conducted. Well, I am sure you have already thought this out.
As I mentioned earlier, you could use one of the planning material strategies at the FG1s level to functionally get similar business results.

How can i manage development demand?

We have a requirement to produce demand for development units that we can ship against allowing the demand to be consumed like a regular Sales Order.
At the moment we raise planned independent requirements to drive the MPS but once the WO is closed the demand has to be manually removed.
Ideally we'd like to:
1) Raise a demand associated to the WBS
2) Plan the MPS within SNP to satisfy both Customer demand and development demand
3) Release / execute / close the WO
4) Ship development unit against that demand order
The other thing we need to ensure is that the demand can be seen in APO to view the total demand.
Please can anyone advise on a solution?

When you go the Cloud app on the phone, tap the three horizontal bars on the top left of the screen. Then tap Settings, at the bottom, and there should be options, What to Back up, How to back up, When to back up, etc.
Under what to back up, you can check or uncheck stuff - I only have contacts checked, nothing else, as my photos and other stuff is backed up to google, as are my contacts. But I like to use Verizon messages, and that only seems to pick up contacts backed up to the Verizon cloud, so I do use it for that.

Demand Management Reorganization QN

Hi
When we are trying to remove the demand management for one week , the values stick on that week. We have more sales then the requirement for that week.
Parameters : We have 10 days as the key date. / Backward consumption for 999 days / Planning strategy is 40 .
QN : 1) What is the intention of 999 days ?
2) Why reorganization is not deleting for that week?
3) Suppose if one week demand is not consumed, then how it can be consumed by the adjacent week.?

Define the reorganization interval
The reorganization period specifies the key date for the reorganization of the planned independent requirements. The key date is calculated by subtracting the specified time from the current date. The planned independent requirements that lie before the resulting date are reorganized.

RMA Orders should not consume forecast

I don't the RMA orders to consume the forecast. How can i achieve this in ASCP.

The RMA orders are booked with a separate series like 87xxxx. But when i look at the forecast consumption i see that the RMA orders are also consuming the forecast. I see that these orders like the 87XXXX consuming the forecast.
Should i use the demand class for the regular sales order that i create so that only this demand class would consume the forecast.

Hi Babu,
what you see in DP (TX /SAPAPO/SDP94) is in fact unconstrained demand. Generally speaking the process is as following:
- You capture demand as close as possible to customer. At this stage the demand is unconstrained because at that point you do not have any idea whether your supply chain is able to satisfy this (no check of inventory, production, storage, transportation capacitiy and many other factors involved in to bring goods from A to customer). You somply capture the demand
- After running forecast you pass it to SNP and there you check the demand against your resources and capacities. The outcome of SNP should be constrained demand. At this stage it is easier to make commitment regarding delivery time and quantity. Normally you send constrained demand back to DP and compare thme (constrained against unconstrained demand)

Any ideas for this Business requirement

Hi All,
Just wondering to see if any of you have encountered the following business requirement and if so how we can address it.
Business Requirement:
(1) Distribution Centers(DC Plant) maintains a relationship with the Factory(Production Plant) that can allow for the swapping of planned production of one product with the planned production of another product. This relation can allow for the partial or complete swapping of one unit of planned production with another in the group.
Example: Product Group1 has 2 products underneath it- Product A and Product B
n= Current period (Month)
n+1= Next period.........
After n+4 periods, the production qty are as follows:
Prod qty@ Product A = 10
Prod qty@ Product B = 30
Hence the Production Qty@ Product Group 1 = 20+20 = 40 ( Aggregation of the prod qty from products to product group level)
The swap of production can be btw Product A and Product B and should not exceed the total Production Qty for the product group
Some examples can be:
Prod qty@ Product A = 15
Prod qty@ Product B = 25
Total Prod Qty@ Product group 1= 40
Prod qty@ Product A = 20
Prod qty@ Product B = 20
Total Prod Qty@ Product group 1= 40
Prod qty@ Product A = 30
Prod qty@ Product B = 10
Total Prod Qty@ Product group 1= 40
etc etc........lot of combinationsu2014The above examples are for understanding the requirement.
However let us say the business determines a planned % of swap btw the products:
Example:
Total Prod Qty@ Product group 1= 40
Swap % = 10%
Then the new Production Qty with the Swap% are as follows:
Prod qty@ Product A = 10 + (10*10/100) = 11
Prod qty@ Product B = 30 + ( 30*10/100) = 33
(2) The other requirement is that the ATP check of the Sales Orders should take into account the Production qty with swap% at the individual product level and also constrain it with the total production qty for the Product group
Example: Let us say we have a
SALES ORDER for Product A for Requested Qty=40
SALES ORDER for Product B for Requested Qty=40
The confirmation for the above 2 sales orders should be as follows:
Confirmation for SALES ORDER for Product A =11 qty
Confirmation for SALES ORDER for Product B =29 Qty
The total confirmation is still equal to the original production qty for the Product Group= 40 qty

I dont know what flexibility you have in building the solution - are you looking at a greenfield from-scratch solution or do you already have a ltechnical andscape that you need to work with ?
If its the former then here is what might work -
1. Using APO DP, you generate a 'Sales' Forecast (based on statistical models + adjustments). This is a statement of unconstrained independent demand, for the products they actually expect to sell.
2. Using SNP, you (optionally) check the sales forecast for capacity.
3. As part of the S&OP process, you make any adjustments in DP to develop a 'Consensus' (and optionally constrained) Demand Plan.
4. Within DP, in the very near term you disallow any changes to the Consensus Demand Plan ('Frozen' Horizon) since it would be too late for manufacturing to react to changes. In the medium term ('Slushy' horizon), you allow changes only within the Product Group, using the swapping process you describe. Further out (Liquid horizon), you follow steps 1 through 3, with any changes acceptable.
5. Usng GATP, you can use the same forecast created within step 1 or 4 to limit what can be ordered using Product Allocation.If the products within the product group are interchangeable from a customers perspective, then you can use Rules Based ATP to switch products.

Safari crashes on MAC OS 10.4.11

hello!! i would like to ask some help. my safari has been crashing when i open certain websites, most especially if its youtube. it has also been crashing on gmail and even apple support at times. i cannot reinstall flash player because as soon as i go into the adobe site, it crashes. i have also tried repairing disk permissions but to no avail. i have been trying to go around this problem for the past 2 days but to no avail. I am running on MAC OS 10.4.11 and using Safari 4.1.3. Below is the crash report that i got from applications/utilities/console.app

I understand what you're saying and I don't believe it is the result of anything you did.
The problem with websites and especially YouTube is that they are constantly evolving and placing greater demands on existing consumer hardware and software. Bear in mind the people who get paid to develop websites are using workstations that cost several thousand dollars, and they like to impress their clients with splashy, garish, gratuitous animation that you and I probably consider needless visual clutter. Your computer's ability to evolve and cope with these greater demands is limited, even though it remains every bit as capable of doing what it did the day you bought it.
The "limited ability" in this case is Safari which is stuck at version 4.1.3 as long as your Mac OS is Tiger. Later Safari versions will almost certainly cope with these newer websites. Whether or not it would be beneficial for you to upgrade your Mac OS to Leopard / Snow Leopard so that you can use Safari 5 is another question, to which I can only reply "maybe" until knowing your specific model MacBook.
Do I need to install flash player again?
If you want to view Flash videos and such content then yes - you should always remove Flash Player (as you just did) before reinstalling it - this is an idiosyncrasy with Flash.
However, you would benefit by the ability to block unwanted Flash content. The Safari plugin ClickToFlash it will intercept all Flash content so that you will at least know when a website requires it, enabling you to control when it gets loaded. It is not uncommon to see a Flash advertisement gobbling nearly all your computer's resources for its own selfish purposes. In many cases the advert may have appeared in a "popup window" that you didn't even know about, or off the top or bottom of a Safari window where you don't notice it. The computer user is then left in complete frustration since all he knows is that his computer has slowed to a crawl and starts wondering if his Mac was infected by some ick. The "ick" was Flash.

Splitting of requirements in MRP

Hi Gurus,
Am implementing SOP wherein the monthly demand forecast is loaded as a sales plan and transfered to demand management, followed by a MRP run.
Would like to split the monthly demand into weekly demand in MRP. Is this possible? How?
Am aware that the demand can be easily split in demand management but want this to happen in MRP.

Now how will the PIRs get consumed?
If the sales order is in between 1st and second week then in case of backward consumption only the 1st weeks PIR will get consumed.
In case if backward and forward consumption selection it will consume the next weeks (period) requirement but what if the requirement is large and will effect the next months planning also?
The rationale of not splitting the demand thus is - Consume the demand - backward consumption 31 days. At the end of the month reorganize the PIR. Thus not effecting the planning of the next month.
Kindly advice if am thinking in the wrong direction.

No fix for Categories / Calendar dilemma in 10.4.9 ?! Petition?

What is it going to take for Apple to support Categories from Palm devices to iCal?? I thought for sure that it would be fixed with the release of 10.4.9, but alas...
I know Apple reads these (or some of them at least) so Mr. Jobs, PLEASE release a iSync / iCal patch that will support Calendars created as Categories in Palm devices and vise versa!
I really do not want to have to ditch iCal & use Entourage...
I'm not sure how many people are affected by this, but I'm sure it's many. If you have this same problem, please reply and indicate so. I would love to see this simple problem fixed.

It's not beta software, it's release software. Inadequate given the improvements offered by Palm OS 5.4 or later, and clearly in need of an update, but release software nonetheless.
Who's blaming the consumer? I am simply saying that the expectations or demands of the consumer might be quite unrealistic. It is, after all, FREE bundled software. What else does it not do? It doesn't support users of danger hiptop, Blackberry or Windows Mobile OS devices. Should it? Are those reasonable expectations?
Should Apple bundle free software equivalent to Microsoft Office? What is reasonable? Are those questions that consumers should answer, or Apple?
I agree that it could be a much stronger product, but I'm not sure where they should draw the line. And consistent with their desire to encourage and support a strong, vibrant developer community, it doesn't make much sense to pull the rug out from underneath Mark/Space, Information Appliance Associates, snerdware, Spanning Sync and others working to extend the Sync Services framework.

MRP Areas & shipments out of

Once I create an MRP area what is the best practice around making shipments in SD "from" the MRP area and not the plant it resides in itself?
Also if product is made within the plant iself the MRP area resides in vs outside STO ... what is the best practice on "transfering" the product from the plant to the MRP area (MRP area resides within the same plant).

One last quesiton ... we are concerned about consuming "forecast" against the MRP area stock .... management is still asking how are sales orders to be entered "against" the MRP area so that forecast in demand plan is consumed?
As it sounds the order entry is as normal eg by sold to, material, date, etc. and only real difference is that when you create your delivery and pick you retrieve stock from the MRP area location eg 1002 which decrements stock from it.
As far as movements, it sounds like you can use location to location transfer postings to move stock between the plant locations and the MRP area location inside the plant and special procurement keys to move UB or NB Stock transports to the plant and then transfer to the MRP area.
Your thoughts or guidance are appreciated as we've never used MRP areas and can't find much info on these areas anywhere.

Is possible forecast from DP to PPDS w characteristic use with CDP block?

We have set up a test scenario with CDP (Characteristic Dependant Planning) setting to utilize Block Planning and I want to send the demand quantities from DP to PPDS, in a way that the characteristic sent with the Demand Plan (eg Product, Location and Colour = Red) will then match the block when creating the PPDS order (eg Block = Colour Red)
I have tried 2 methods so far which have not worked, and I am wanting to find out if it is possible to send demand planning volumes to use with PPDS CDP Blocks?

Cannot use CBF and CDP together on the one client
I have tried these 2 methods.
1. Setting up CBF (Characteristic Based Forecasting) in DP and trying to send these to PPDS CDP. That was before I found the above help guide that tells me this is not possible. The data went across from DP to PPDS, but the results were a mess, the wrong values to the wrong characteristics.
2. Tried sending Demand planning with standard characteristics from DP to PPDS, and this initially looked like it would work. Consumption group, Product, Location, ZCOLOUR (created a BW type info-object called ZCOLOUR which I put in the DP Planning object)
But when sending to PPDS, the COLOUR = RED comes over as a "desciptive characteristic", which is different to the manually created forecast in PPDS which is colour = RED within CLASS ZZZBLOCK Characteristic ZCOLOUR (Value = red), which comes up as a seperate tab on the requirement.
So the two ZCOLOURS of the infoobject ZCOLOUR and the Characteristic within Class 400 ZCOLOUR do not talk to each other ,and PPDS does not recognize the object, so cannot create any PPDS orders with block relevant characteristics.
The SAP help just talks about "create an ECC sales order" to use to feed demand into the CDP Blocks, so possibly it is not possible to map Demand Plan data to PPDS CDP Blocks. Has anyone got this to work?

Use consumption group with CBF characteristics. The CBF characteristics need to be in the consumption group!
The consumption group has to be assigned to the u2018demandu2019-view of the
product master
The assignment of the consumption group to the release settings (transaction
/SAPAPO/MC90)
If you want to Make-to-Stock Segment implement the BADI:
From a configuration point of view it is required to activate the BAdI
/SAPAPO/DM_BADI_CONF and add following line of coding to the method
