S&OP Heuristics Question

Hi,
Wanted some clarification on Heuristics algorithm in S&OP. How the program identifies or differentiates between customer demand quantity and Initial inventory key figure? Unlike in APO SNP, the heuristics uses standard SAP supplied key figures and hence it is very clear. Here in S&OP,we know we will specify which key figures are input or output during configuration, but how the program understands, which is what ? What is the indicator to the program (is it the name or id  of the key figure? such as consensus demand or Initial Inventory? or something else?). Please help us to understand this.
Kind Regards,
Sanjeev

is the ID: i.e. if in your planning area you define a key figure named INVENTORYTARGET, so it will be the KF used by Heuristic for inventory target input... (and so on...)
So you have to define your own planning area coping it from SAP demo planning area (exaple SAP2 or SAPMODEL4), because it will be have the same KF ID to guarantee correctness of SCM planning

  • How to identify an order generated by heuristics run or entered manually

    Hello Gurus,
Is there any way to identify an order in the distribution receipt keyfigure in SNP planning book is generated by heuristics run or entered manually.
    Thanks,
    Siva.

    Hi Siva,
Please get me answer for the following:
Go to transaction /sapapo/rrp3 and create a order manually by entering future date and a positive qty.
Press enter and execute the popup.
There should be an order created. if it is inhouse production, ti would be a planned order and if it is external, it would be a purchase requisition.
    Now,
in the command prompt window (this is where you enter the transaction codes in SAP window- Top left blank window) enter "GT_IO". This should get you to live cache view.
    Question:
    1. What is the order category for the order created? ( AJ or EE or EA or...)
    2. Are you following the above procedure or using SNP planning book to create your orders.
if not both please explain your procedure step by step as I did.

  • Few basic questions on deployment

    Hi Experts,
I have never worked on deployment. Hence have some few basic/conceptual questions.
    1. Can I run just deployment (heuristics/optimiser) without running SNP planning?
    2. Does deployment run change/modify the SNP orders created? If yes, then what are the paramenters that deployment run changes (order date, qty, from/to location etc)? Does deployment run create new/fresh orders also?
    3. What is the difference between deployment heuristics run and deployment optimiser run?
    4. What is the disadvantage to have just SNP planning run and dont have deployment runs?
    Regards
    Manotosh

    Hi Manotosh,
    Please find my responses below
    1. Can I run just deployment (heuristics/optimiser) without running SNP planning?
Any distribution demand based deployment (pull dep /push strategies that deploy based on demand) needs a demand propagation run like heuristic or a planning run like optimizer. If you are using Push strategies that do not consider demands like (push by quota) you do not need a preceding heuristic run. Deployment optimizer does not need a heuristic run. Real time deployment does not need a heuristic run.
    2. Does deployment run change/modify the SNP orders created? If yes, then what are the paramenters that deployment run changes (order date, qty, from/to location etc)? Does deployment run create new/fresh orders also?
There are 3 modes available in deployment (/sapapo/SNP02)
DO NOT CHANGE mode - This is just simulation of deployment results. orders are not created.
REDUCE mode - Heuristic orders are reduced to the extent of orders confirmed by deployment. Unconfirmed heuristic orders are not deleted.
DELETE mode - Unconfirmed heuristic orders are deleted.
Deployment heuristic only confirms heuristic orders ( some exceptions are push deployment wuth push by quots strategy as explianed above). Real time deployment /Deployment optimizer can create fresh orders.
    3. What is the difference between deployment heuristics run and deployment optimiser run?
Deployment optimizer works based on costs and tries to generate the cost optimal solution for stock transfers.
It is similar to SNP optimizer but it does not created pur reqs or plnd orders only stock transfers. Dep optimizer does not require a preceding heuristic run.
Dep heuristic does not work based on costs bust based on the actual distribution demand propagated by heuristic and based on target stock reqmt & the pull /push /fairshare strategies...
    4. What is the disadvantage to have just SNP planning run and dont have deployment runs?
SNP planning run (heuristic) is un constrained planning, the stock transfers are created to the extent of net requiremetns without considering the stock/capacity avaiablity at source, so it cannot be executed. A process like deployment is required to check how much of the heuristic orders can actually be executed considering executable receipts.
Optimizer does not require deployment as such because it considers available receipts (constrained planning). You can directly execute optimizer results. SOme scenarios you may need Deployment & optimizer runs together.
For example if you take weekly optimizer runs which create /stock transfers planned orders but you want to move stocks every day based on actually completed production. Then you can run deployment every day based on receipts actually available.

    Ashok

    Dear Raj,
you  can go through the following questions and answers which will help you.
How can a planning version be frozen and unfrozen?
A Planning Version can be frozen and unfrozen using Function Module /SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_VERSIO_FREEZE so that no further changes to the planning version can be done.
    What is Release Profile?
Release Profile is used to release timeseries data from DP to SNP/PPDS. You need to define the DP Planning Area and timeseries keyfigure the data in which is released and the SNP Category Type (typically FA) to which data is released. You may maintain a Daily Buckets Profile it will define the number of working days (working days determined based on Shipping Calendar maintained for the location master) starting on and from the From Date if released online/ interactively or that many workdays of the planning horizon when release is carried out in background. The Period Split (blank, 1 and 2) field in the SNP2 tab of location-product master determines how demand plan is released to SNP from DP (how bucketed data is disaggregated to the workdays).
What is the usage of Period Factor?
Period Factor maintained in the SNP PPM or Transportation Lane determines the Availability Date of a Receipt element within a time bucket (period). The system determines the exact availability date/time of the receipt elements within a period, by adding a time interval (that it gets by multiplying the period factor with the period length) to the start time of the period. You can enter a factor between 0 and 1, where 0 is the start of the period, 0.5 the middle, and 1 the end of the period. When calculating the availability date/time, the system takes into consideration all weekdays, meaning that it does not take into consideration any days that have been defined as non-workdays in the calendars.
Period Factor used is .71 = 7x0.71 = 4.97 or 5 days from ptimizer of weekly bucket resulting in a Friday.
If Period Factor is not maintained in PPM or Transportation Lane then the User Period Factor indicator and the Period Factor value maintained in the Lot Size tab of the location-product combination is used. If this is not maintained a default value of 0.5 is used.
What determines stock categories displayed in Stock on Hand keyfigure?
The categories defined in Category Group ST1 (can be maintained in table /SAPAPO/APOCGC) determine the stock categories that are displayed in the Initial bucket in the Stock on Hand keyfigure. Subsequent buckets are dynamically computed.
Does dynamic alerts show up in Alert Monitor?
Dynamic Alerts do not show up in the stand-alone alert monitor. Network alerts are to show pegging relationships.
What is the report to execute MASSD?
The report for executing MassD in background job is MASSBACK.
What is the shortcut to change location type in APO?
Report /SAPAPO/CHECK_LOCATION_TYPE can be used to change location type (say from 1001 to 1002 or vice-versa) of existing locations in APO. The table to refer is /SAPAPO/LOCMAP. SAP does not recommend this process.
How can a transaction be executed even when no authorization?
SE93 - Transaction code for Transaction Code E.g. CRC1 Create Resource has txn code CRAH. So if you do not have authorization to create resource you can use SE93 and enter txn CRAH and then Test F8 button to go to the txn.
How to copy a Process Chain?
To copy a process chain to another process chain, goto the Process Chain you want to copy and then type copy in the tool tar and hit enter. It will allow you to copy the Process Chain to another Process Chain that can be modified as per user's requirement, saved, activated and used.
What is the process to copy planning versions in R/3?
Use OLIX to first delete previous MRP planning versions. Then use MCB& to create the new MRP planning versions by choosing the appropriate version you want to create as ICO Version. The info structure in this case is S094.
How to use create planning book with two tables?
To use two tables on one screen of Planning Book/Data View - select indicator next to second page title and give name. Additional tab page is displayed in Planning Book Maintenance wizard to define the keyfigures for the second table.
What is Master Data in DP?
Master Data in Demand Planning primarily is Charcateristic Value Combinations commonly termed CVCs. CVCs are the planning combinations against which data is stored in keyfigures.
What is the behaviour of Procurement Type X?
Procurement Type X - source selection is based on matching due date then priority then cost. If both In-house Production and External Procuremnet is possible then In-house Production (PPM) is chosen as source of supply.
    What is PPDS Fixing Horizon?
PP/DS fixing Horizon defines the PP/DS time Fence - within that period if heuristic is run no orders get changed.
What is the reuse mode in Product Heuristic?
Reuse mode in Product Heuristic - makes the system to reuse orders already present in the heuristic run i.e. orders are not deleted and recreated.
    What is Planning Procedure?
Planning Procedure in Product Master (PP/DS) defines that when you convert a planned order to process order it is in Deallocated state and not Scheduled state and more.

  • Location Heuristics-diff of results in background and foreground

    Hi,
We have this weekly bacth job of location heu.. just one program. nothing preceding  and succeeding it.
I find the results in background and foreground different. This is partcularly wrt the receipts being created before the lead time of the loc-product. In the foreground when i delete the same receipts..and re-run the location heuristics, the receipts are correctly created . i.e obeying the lead time.
    Questions:
    - Why does this happen. I am doing this without anytime gap.
-Are there some settings that are called only in background (e.g from SNP global profile) but not in foreground.
Let me know if you need to know my SNP global profile settings.
    The imporant ones are
HEU: Init short qty = Bakward scheduling
    HEU: Order Update =Complete mode
In the location product master- NO horizons and time fences are maintained for SNP and PPDS.
    Regards,
    Loknath

    Hi Loknath,
I will try to explain in with simple example.
Consider there is product xyz which exist at two different locations A & Location B.
    Procurement type:
    at A is Inhouse production
at B is external procurement from location A.
Both the location have some forcast/ Demand for the Product suppose 100qty each.
    1. First Sequence:  Now first the Heuristics needs to run at Location B so that there are Destribution receipts planned created  at Location B, In other words, the Demand of Product XYZ will get transferred to Location A in form of Distributed demand Planned.
Now if you take run on Location A,
The Total demand  at Location A will be 100 qty (forecast)+ 100qty( Distri.Demand from B)= 200qty  and the Heuristics run will  plan for the total requirement 200 qty and create the planned orders for it.
    2. Second sequence:  if you take heuristics at Location A first & than location B.
The planned orders generated will be only for Demand at A i.e 100 as Location A is not yet aware of the Distributed Demand which needs to be satisfied for Location B. as you have not taken the run  on location B yet hence the demand is not yet transferred to Location A.
now if you take  run at location B, the Distri. demand are generated to Location A but not planned or not satisfied.
Overall you see the wrong results of heuristic if you adapt second sequence.
So, it become neccesary to determine the right sequence in which the heuristic is taken for different product at different location. to determine this system use SNP low level codes.
I guess you are aware of low level code in BOM, As without exploding the Parent Material demand you cannot plan exact demand on Child material. similar principle works over here just it applies to Location Products.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Kumar

  • SAP_pp_019 heuristics creates automatic fixed pegging  relation ship  .generally we have automatic fixed pegging and manual fixed pegging

SAP_pp_019 heuristics creates automatic fixed pegging  relation ship  .generally we have automatic fixed pegging and manual fixed pegging .
    Example :
    1) created sale order and triggered GATP
2)It calls CTP where SAP_PP_019 is run and coresponding planning takes place and pegging relation ship are generated in product view
3)when I Trigger Gatp to  same sales order .why the pegging losses as it is fixed pegging so it should not break while converting to production order ?????
please correct if am wrong in any of 3 steps
    Thanks & Regards
    Virender

    Virender,
Expert Pravin has answered your question about Planning Procedures
I will make two small comments.  In my CTP experience, I have never seen anyone use the SAP_PP_019 heuristic as a CTP heuristic.  019 is a pegging heuristic, and typically CTP uses some type of material planning heuristic (e.g. create supply elements).  I am not saying that your heuristic is wrong, I am only saying that I have never seen it used in such a way.
I have further never seen an implementation for CTP where there were more than 2 different planning procedures in use.
You did not ask for it, but let me give you a small piece of advice.  CTP and multilevel planning are not simple or trivial subjects.  From your responses about planning procedures, I will draw the conclusion that your experience in this area is...somewhat limited.
Yes, you can go to SCN and ask for advice, and we will offer whatever help we can.  However, the detailed troubleshooting techniques required to solve such a problem are not really suited to SCN postings.  There are already 30 items in this post, and the end does not seem to be in sight.
If I were in the position of being responsible for solving this problem, and I had little experience to bring to bear, and there was no documentation which described the original solution in detail, then I would request local expert assistance to help me in this matter.  If such assistance were not to be available, I would further request my management to engage an external resource to assist; one who has extensive experience in customized CTP solutions. A competent CTP expert can probably zero in on the problem in a few days.
Using only yourself and SCN as a resource, you may find a solution to your problem tomorrow, or you may not find it after months of searching.  In most businesses I have worked with, this level of uncertainty would be considered unacceptable.
    Good Luck & Best Regards,

  • Availability Date calculation in SNP Heuristics

    Dear Experts,
I am using weekly bucket profile. In the SNP PPM, period factor is set as 0. Lets say I create a PIR on date 09.11.2010 which is Tuesday.
If I run Location Heuristics, it should schedule the Planned Order on 08.11.2010 12:00. But system is scheduling it on 11.11.2010 23:59:59 i.e. Thrusday. No matter on which day I create the PIR, it somehow always schedules it on Thrusday. Please help to understand how it is happening.
(Though it should not matter here but Location-Product data also has period factor as 0)

    Hello Micky and Amol,
Thanks for your response. It seems F1 help for field 'Period factor' is not correct. Anyway, if system is taking 0.5, I have further two questions:
Then it should be scheduled in the middle i.e. Monday + 2.5 = Wednesday. Why is it scheduling on Thrusday.
(ii) In SNP Heuristics, period factor only caculate the date. It sets by-default Time as 12:00, but here system is setting 23:59:59, why?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Late Demand Fulfillment with SNP Heuristics

    Hello all,
It is well known that SNP Heuristics does a bucket level planning and demands in each bucket are treated independent of the future bucket demands while creating the receipt elements. The receipts are created within the bucket unless there are sufficient receipts available in the past buckets that can be used.
Now, my question is, if we can force Heuristics to have the receipts in future buckets consumed with current bucket demand and not have to create additional receipts within the current bucket during planning run.
In a nut shell, can we influence heuristics not to plan receipts if there are fixed receipts available in future buckets?
Please note that settings like fixed pegging, maximum lateness of receipt, and late demand fulfillment do not work for heuristics. I have tested extensively using all of these settings.
Is there a way we can influence it to look into the future and if there are receipts available in any future bucket, say 30 days or 4 buckets ahead, in a weekly planning situation, it should not plan receipts in the current bucket and consume the receipts of future.
If any one has done such a thing earlier and can provide pointers, that will be grateful.
One option that came through discussions is changing standard macros to influence the way receipts are seen by heuristics during bucketed planning. Has someone explored this option? Please revert.
    Thanks and warm regards,
    Chandra

    Hi Dieter,
Please check if the plan order is tied to your SO (t.code /SAPAPO/CTMVIEWER or in the /SAPAPO/RRP3). Also check in CTM profile (tab Supplies) what is your settings in the supply control section (Build Up Safety Stock and Stock is available). They should be active.
In the Planning Strategy tab what is the scheduling direction and pegging type?
Also check the Planning Strategy (planning mode & delete mode).
    Thanks, Marius

  • Heuristics deleting Preq-deletes Shopping card in SRM

    Hello Everybody,
I need help on following issue.
In my project we have SRM and APO integration which is not having source of supply(SOS) assigned is being getting SOS from SRM system.
Here APO system is generation PR for such material and respective shopping cart (SC) is getting created in SRM system. But in SRM its not converting it to PO immediately is reflecting deleting PR into APO in next Heuristics run and also SRM respective SC also getting deleted.
i am planning to change the Date of APO generated PR in next planning run beside deleting it which will not delete SC in SRM.
Kindly guide me any material or Standard SAP document which can help me resolve this issue.
    Regards.
    Sandeep K.

    Hi  Senthil
Please try using net change heuristics which will not delete the existing PR's in the next run and will create PR's only the change in demand.
how we can avoid these delete these Purchase requests? any help is appreciated.
if APO system keep on deletes the existing PR upon your heuristic run , it is a question of performance issue on APO .
i might have  created a follow on document like purchase orders for the last run purchase request. so if PR deleted means all my follow on document will be deleted right. it makes all other system mess.

  • Difference between SNP Heuristics and PP/DS Heuristics

    Dear Friends,
I have a basic question regarding Heuristics , is SNP Heuristics and PP/DS Heuristics are same
if not what is the key difference between them
i am very clear about PP/DS heuristics but not sure how heuristics is used for planning in SNP , i am able to read sap help , but could not able to get clear answer
    Please help
    Thanks & Regards
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
Heuristics is the simple algorithm which can be attached to any working
module to perform our business requirements.
PPDS Heuristics is used to create procurement proposals for uncovered product requirements
and to carry out planning tasks for products or orders.
This will be used during Production planning run and in interactive planning.
    whereas
SNP heuristic is used during capacity levelling and deployment.  The SNP Heuristic performs
requirements planning through the entire supply chain network to determine how to satisfy
    the customer and/or consumer demand.
SNP heuristic, based on a repair-based planning approach, efficiently plans complex distribution
    networks in multi-site production environments.

  • Satellite P300D-10v - Question about warranty

    HI EVERYBODY
I have these overheating problems with my laptop Satellite P300D-10v.
I did everything I could do to fix it without any success..
I get the latest update of the bios from Toshiba. I cleaned my lap with compressed air first and then disassembled it all and cleaned it better.(it was really clean insight though...)
BUT unfortunately the problem still exists...
So i made a research on the internet and I found out that most of Toshiba owners have the same exactly problem with their laptop.
Well i guess this is a Toshiba bug for many years now.
Its a really nice lap, cool sound (the best in laptop ever) BUT......
So I wanted to make a question. As i am still under warranty, can i return this laptop and get my money back or change it with a different one????
If any body knows PLS let me know.
    chears
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
I have already found you other threads.
    Regarding the warranty question;
If there is something wrong with the hardware then the ASP in your country should be able to help you.
The warranty should cover every reparation or replacement.
But I read that you have disasembled the laptop at your own hand... hmmm if you have disasembled the notebook then your warrany is not valid anymore :(
I think this should be clear for you that you can lose the warrany if you disasemble the laptop!
By the way: you have to speak with the notebook dealer where you have purchased this notebook if you want to return the notebook
The Toshiba ASP can repair and fix the notebook but you will not get money from ASP.

i was messing around and came up with this. it doesnt remove the null, but if it is null it adds ABC beside it. so i think i might be getting close. i just need to figure out how to replace the null.
    code]
    <b><%=request.getParameter("steptwoFour") %></b>
         <% if (request.getParameter("steptwoFour") == null ) {
         %>
         <% out.print("abc"); %>
         <% }
         %>

  • Anyone know how to remove Overdrive books from my iphone that have been transferred from my computer? They do not show up on itunes. I see a lot of answers to this question but they all are based on being able to see the books in iTunes.

How do I remove Overdrive books from the library that were downloaded onto my computer then transferred to my iphone? The problem is that they do not show up in iTunes.
I see this question asked a lot when I google, but they always give answers that assumes you can find the books in iTunes either under the books tab, or the audio books tab or in the music. They do not show up anywhere for me. They do not remove from the app like the ones I downloaded directly onto my iphone.the related archived article does not answer it either.  I even asked a guy working at an apple store and he could not help either.   Anybody...?
    Thanks!

there is an app called daisydisk on mac app store which will help you see exactly where the memory is focused and consumed try using that app and see which folders are using more memory
