  • Mini-DVI cable and connecting via s-video to scart cable

    Hey I bought a mini-dvi adapter a while back and have just purchased a s-video to scart cable to connect it to my television but there is no picture showing just a blue screen. Any help would be gratefully received.
    Cheers
    Jon

    which adapter did you buy exactly?
    there is 3 for this series of macbook - DVI, VGA, & analog RCA - S-Video.
    if you bought the analog RCA - S-video, I belive the one for the UK has a different part #. you may have bought one for the States that may not support your standard.

    Hi eb
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    Could be a bad Dynex adapter, return that one for another and/or cough up the extra $3 for Apples.
    I'm now using a Mini-DVD to to DVI and a 21.5 LG monitor, but my Apple Mini-DVI to Video adapter and my 27" Sharp served me well for a couple of years.
    See the Tip in > http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23844?
    +Tip: To make sure that your iMac automatically detects the external display or projector, be sure you plug the adapter into the external display or projector before you plug it into the iMac.+

  • Video output via cable - incompatible with video p...

    I find that although video output via cable from the Nokia 6220 classic (and I presume other Nokia phones) works fine with TV sets, I haven't found a single video projector that accepts the output and is able to project it.  The projectors typically search their video inputs and should recognise the composite video input, but instead they just keep searching and are never able to recognise or project the video.
    Is there something unusual about the video signal output from it so as not to be accepted as composite video by video projectors?

    iphone4 and composite and component cable don't support mirror so they
    only display images when an supported app is being used like youtube or the video app and the likes
    use both the composite and the component cable with my iphone4 on 5.1 and both works fine
    so do my ipod touch with 5.1 and ipad2 with 5.1

  • Component Video to Scart Cable

    Hello
    Has anyone in the UK tried to connect an Apple TV to regular TV with Scart?
    Component Video to Scart Cables cabled can be bought for around £20, has anyone tried this with success?
    I'd welcome comments.

    I'm sure you're correct RC-R - didn't see your post until I submitted my second reply.
    I connect via HDMI/Component so have never tried a SCART solution for Apple TV, though if there was a cheap one that worked I'd love to know too.
    Keene electronics used to sell a lot of AV converter type things, but I've never used them - just remember they always had big ads in the Hi-Fi/Home Cinema magazines a few years ago.
    Personally I think that SCART cables and interfaces are the most confusing, cumbersome and clunky leads I've ever had the misfortune to use in the last 20 years or so. I absolutely hate them!
    Sometimes you can be lucky with things and they work - for example about 2 years ago I managed to make a Component to VGA lead for my old projector using CAT5 cable following an online DIY guide - I was lucky and it worked, but in theory conversion electronics would also have been needed apart from plugs and cable, but I'd read that it worked with my particular projector and that was far cheaper than buying the dedicated converter lead/box. Having said that I wouldn't fork out on an Apple TV without being confident it would work with my TV.

    I do think it's a bit of a shame they didn't have an S-Video or composite out on the Apple TV, but it probably boils down to protecting content sold at the iTunes store.
    It is unlikely that this kind of cable will work (for
    the reasons mentioned in my other post).
    A better bet may be the first video signal converter
    listed here. I have no experience with this
    particular converter (or any such units, being a
    resident of the USA) or the company in the link, but
    some folks in other similar threads have reported
    success with this or a very similar looking device, &
    its price from this vendor is indeed much lower than
    previously reported.
    The company is located in Kent, England & claims good
    phone & email support, which you might try before you
    buy.

  • DVI to S-Video & Composite plug cable needed for output to audio/TV system

    I'm in need of a DVI to S-Video and Composite plug cable to replace the Monster iTV Link cable I used with my 12" Aluminum PowerBook. (http://www.monstercable.com/apple/Computer.asp) I use it to output to my audio/TV system.
    Whereas the PowerBook used a mini-DVI port and had the audio output jack on the same side of the computer, the MacBook Pro uses a full size DVI port and has the audio jack on the opposite side!
    I've been unable to find a cable so that I can connect up to a TV. Does anyone know where I can find one? Or perhaps a DVI to mini-DVI adapter? Or perhaps a VGA to S-Video/Composite cable and I can use the DVI to VGA adapter that came with the computer?
    This is very frustrating!

    Apple's video adapters have a ROM chip inside them with EDID data contained within the ROM. That is one thing that will definitely be different between the two. The NTSC and PAL version (M9267G/A) gives priority to NTSC. This could cause problems in a PAL country. If you hooked a PAL TV up using this adapter, you might get a rolling (non-synced) screen and you'd have no good way to recover since the image on the screen would be unusable.
    I don't think one adapter would have any advantage over the other in terms of PAL picture quality. It would just be a question of compatibility as outlined above. That's my best guess.

  • Ipod Classic doesn't play video with Component cables

    I just bought a new Ipod Classic and I have it connected to my Denon receiver using the Denon dock.  I am able to play music and movies from the ipod.  But when I try to play movies thru my small LG tv (Apple red, rellow white component cable) I only get audio and only if I have it in the white docking station.  Do I need to buy the composite cables to get the video?  I do get a message stating I need to plug into a video source.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    Have tried to completely restore the iPod to factory settings and then resync the video?
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
    Before you do that, try converting the video once more using iTunes' built in convert.  To do this, highlight the movie and chooose Create iPod or iPhone version from the Advanced drop down menu.  When the conversion process is finished, sync the new version over to your iPod and see if that helps.

  • Ipod touch video using RCA cable in car...

    I have a Honda Pilot and it has the red, yellow and white hacks in back. I have the DVD player and would think i could connect IPT to RCA cables and see videos on DVD screen, but i cant figure it out. I connect and the music plays just fine (better than FM mod)... any advice?

    You have to use offical Apple cables and Apple certified cables/docks to display video. You need this because of a chip that has been installed in the product that will allow video out through the dock connecter

  • Can I transfer 720p video via USB cable

    Hi Everyone, technology has changed so much since updating to my recent Pro Mac. I want to transfer my current video and pictures from my Nikon CoolPix L120 to FCP. I'm not sure what the best route to take would be. Either a memory Card  or hook my camera directly to the computer via USB cable. The footage I want to trasfer is 720P. Mainly I want to transfer the footage to clear my card to store and clear space to record more footage of family events. Thank You all for your time. Oh yeah can USB handle a trasfer of 720p or will I need a HDMI or component to accomplish this task
    Thanks
    Jeff

    Sure it can do it...all you'll be doing is copying over the contents of the card.  Like you do any other data file.  Make a new folder on your hard drive (separate from your system drive...this will be your ARCHIVE drive), and then drag and drop the ENTIRE CONTENTS of the SD card.  Keep everything intact.  That's all you do...copy.
    BUT THEN...you need to transcode that to ProRes, as FCP will not work with the files as they exist now. It might seem like it will, but it won't.  use Compressor or MPEG STREAMCLIP to convert to ProRes, and put those files on yet ANOTHER drive (media drive) for editing.

  • No video from composite cable on iPad 2

    Hi!
    I just bought the composite AV cable for my iPad 2 hoping to be able to watch pictures on my old non-HD widescreen TV circa 1999. I hook everything up but I don't get picture. Watching video throught the video app gets me sound but still no video. I know the composite cable doesn't support mirroring but it's supposed to work this the native apps for pics & video, right? Is my TV to old or do anybody have any other suggestions?
    Thanks!
    / Anders

    Have you confirmed with the dock manufacturer that it supports iPads and/or the version of iOS you're using on your iPad?

  • LIVE Streaming Video-Equipment and Cables Needed?????

    I am planning on starting a 24/7 live online tv station through ustream or livestream. I will be using my apple Macbook Pro to do this. However, I would like to be able to play DVD's, and other recordings from a DVD player through a video switch board/video mixer into my computer and into ustream. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what equipment I am going to need to do this. I already have everything to produce my shows. I just need to know what kind of video switch board/video mixer I will need and what connection cables I will need to run the video mixer to my Macbook Pro. If there is a better way to do this, I am open to suggestions. I am on a tight budget, but am willing to spend some money. Please keep in mind that I would like this station to be a 24/7 programming station on ustream or livestream and that I need to be able to set video up to run on an automated schedule. Thank You very much for any and all suggestions.

    What you need is grab video/sound form camera/mic, publish it
    on FMS and let the other clients play it. In a few steps:
    // get camera and mic
    var cam:Camera = Camera.getCamera(); // get default camera
    var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone(); // get
    default mic
    // if you have VideoDisplay, for monitoring
    videoDisplay.attachCamera(cam);
    // create new RTMP connection to FMS/your app
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    // new stream should be create *after* nc has connected, not
    before
    // so this is executed after the below nc.connect() succeeds
    nc.attachEventListener(Event.CONNECT, function(){
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream();
    ns.attachCamera(cam);
    ns.attachMicrophone(mic);
    ns.publish("streamname", "live"); // or "record" if you want
    to live+rec
    // connect to default instance of app 'appname' on your FMS
    nc.connect("rtmp://fms.ip.address/appname");
    If you're using Flex2 and FMS2 (the latest FMS is 3), you
    might need to
    cuange the connection encoding to AMF0 (which is what FMS2
    uses) in order for this to work.
    Hope this helps; I've written it from my head so it probably
    has mistakes, but it's the general workflow; the docs in the
    language reference for specific functions mentioned here will also
    help.

  • IPhone4/iOS7/GoodReader/video-out by cable?

    Does anybody successfully use the app Goodreader to project pdfs via dock-connector-cable/compound?
    I'm considering to buy this app; idea is, to use our companies projector, which offers only vga and compound-in, with my old iPhone4.
    Photo-slideshows do work, but pdf would be more handy for my needs...
    Any insights?
    Better ideas? (iWorks for iOS??)
    Thanks in advance!

    nobody uses a video-out-cable...?

  • Having trouble using my new touch with my tv. Have the lightening adapter, but only get sound, no video via the cable I used with my touch (4)

    How do I use my new touch (5) on my tv. My touch (4) used a cable attached to my tv, so I got a lightening adapter, added to end of cable, and plugged in new touch. Sound came through on tv, but no video. Do I need a new cable that supports this video content??

    Hello krnsrts2013,
    For more information on which Digital AV adapters are compatible with which iOS devices, you may find the information outlined in the following article helpful, in particular this portion:
    Apple AV adapters cannot provide video output when used with Lightning to 30-pin Adapter or Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (0.2 m) adapter.
    About Apple Digital AV Adapters for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
    Per the article, for an iPod Touch 5th Gen, you would need either a Lightning Digital AV Adapter or a Lightning to VGA Adapter, depending on your connection type.
    Sincerely,
    - Brenden
