S-video to TV no Color!!!

Hello. I have hooked up my Powerbook G4 to my TV throught the S-Video port with a composite cable to RCA into the TV. I have managed to get my computer to see the TV as a monitor and put up a desk top. I can use it as an extension or mirror with out problem. Thge image is in Black & White and I can't seem to change it. Any ideas?

I've had this problem when I've tied to view NTSC video on a PAL only TV. So, try going to the Displays System Preference and change the resolution of the TV to the other format. If it is set to NTSC change it to PAL or vice versa.

Any ThinkPad with discrete or switchable graphics will work...T400/500, R400/500, W500/700...make sure that you're not getting the one with Intel integrated GPU and you'll be all set...
FWIW, even T61/p with discrete GPU will run  this with no sweat...
    Hope this helps.

  • Mini-DVI to Video shows w/o color and atleast 2 of everything

I just bought a mini-DVI to Video converter for my Macbook. I tried to hook it up to my 42" Panasonic Viera and had white static lines going up my screen with no picture. I then tried to hook it up with the composite and lowered the resolution all the way down and had picture but only in black and white and it divided my TV almost in half and put the images on my monitor up twice. How do I get the whole picture to take up the whole screen in color so I can watch my iTunes movies and DVDs on my TV.

From your posting, I can't tell what Viera model you have. However, I was just over to the Panasonic website and one 42" Viera advertised 4 HDMI inputs with 2 of them with separate audio inputs. If you have a similar model, you should go with the HDMI option. As per the posting above, you should be using the Apple mini DVI-->DVI cable. Couple that up with a DVI-->HDMI cable and you should be in business with the best video on your big screen. Works great on my 40" Sony.
Re your problem with double images in black and white, I had a similar problem in a different vain. My problem was a DVD player that I had hooked up to my TV with a s-video cable and it did the exact same thing. It was driving me nuts until I had the bright idea of reading the DVD manual. Sure enough, there was a setting in the DVD setup that had to be checked in order to view through a s-video output. Once I changed the setting, I only had one picture and the color reappeared. You probably had a similar setting in your Viera manual that would correct that problem.
Go with the HDMI option. Note that it will be necessary to run a separate cord for the audio.

  • Elgato Eye TV Hybrid S-Video signal shows no colors

    Hi,
I have an Elgato Hybrid for my MBP. When I connect my Sony dvd-recorder to it (thru S-Video) I get a sharp picture but it only shows in black and white. No colors.
I have a professional scart to S-Video cable. Someone suggested me to change the settings of my MBP but I don't know where or how this can be done.
Perhaps I have to alter the settings of Eye TV as well? I don' really know.
Settings are correct; Eye TV input is set to S-Video

Seems the settings of my dvd-recorder were not correct: when I changed them to S-Viseo out all was working well.

  • When I export a video in Premiere, the colors flash purple and green. Why?

I bought the software just recently but I have exported files before and they worked fine.  I have a few speculations but I wanted to get an opinion.  I dont know what to do if my speculations are right either.
    1. I used a small digital camera so the format may be unsupported.  It looks fine in the preview but when I set preview quality to maximum it flashes purple and green.  I have, on the same timeline, a small logo animation I made using after effects and that part looks fine.
    2. I used after effects to color correct the video segements and then exported them as .mov's.  They look fine after they are exported.  Maybe this is causing a problem though?
    3.  I noticed that I have been making the comps in after effects, 24 fps but when i looked at the settings in Premiere it says it is at 30 fps.  But I didnt see another option there.
Are any of these the problem?  Any advice or suggestions?  What should I do to fix it/prevent it in the future?
    Thank you!

  • Apple TV problem with video artifacts and pixel color changes

I noticed that in the most recent software update on my Apple TV there is quite a bit of pixel noise on the screen. In dark colors of the picture they really show up, bright green and white dots appear...random pixels that I thought at first my plasma was going, but I paused a movie the other night on my Apple TV and the Pixels also Paused, so I know it's the Apple TV and it does not occur on any other programming inputs. It was fine till the last Software update so I am thinking something is wrong with that update.

  • After Rendering Video turns a different color and looks hazy

I've used Adobe Premiere Pro for about 2 years and I have never had this problem.  After I render my video, the color and clarity of my video completely changes.  I have only used a sharpening effect and a brightness effect to fix a few details.  I also have removed these effects and rendered, and it still messed up the color and clarity.  I have tried to reinstalled the program and it didn't help.  I have tried to open a new project with some video to see if the rendering issue was just with my project or the whole program and it still did it.  So now any video for any project has this issue and I have never experienced this before.
I am wondering if I have hit a hot key that has changed the outcome of my video....
If anyone knows anything about this problem or has experienced something similar, please help me.

I am just rendering files and viewing them in my preview screen to see what I am doing before I export.
This is the properties of one of many clips I am using:

  • HUGE VIDEO PROBLEM!  The colors are all wrong!  Quicktime Gamma Bug!

I'm on a Mac, and there is a huge problem with video.  When you view or playback videos, the color is all wrong!  It's desaturated and faded.  If you import your videos into premiere or playback through vlc, then everything looks correct. If you play them back or edit them in lightroom, the colors are all wrong.
Nice try Adobe, but you failed.

Ok, but we'll need more details.
Your OS version, how you calibrate your monitor, whether you see the same playing through Quicktime standalone on your Mac, what camera the videos came from, whether they've been edited in other software, etc.
This is a beta so there will be bugs - that information could help narrow down and fix issues such as these.

  • Video looks lousy after color correction or cropping

I'm a Sony Vegas user new to FCP. Today I imported some filed from a Sony EX1 XDCAM. I transcoded to proRES422 and all looked fine in the timeline. But, I tried to colorcorrect and once I rendered the image had noticeable deterioration in sharpness and also it introduced some weird purplish noise in the darker areas. I had the same problem when I attempted a simple zoom and crop in motion for a proRES file. What's going on here?
I'm just using a Macbook with an integrated card but I was under the impression FCP is powered by the CPU. I've got 2 gigs of Ram. Speed and smooth playing video isn't a problem.
What could be going on here?

    Stab in the dark:
What are your "Playback Video" settings set to under the "RT" pop-up menu in the upper left corner of the Sequence window?
Also, what color appears above the clip in the Sequence?
What does the clip look like if your render it?
XDCAM footage should color correct well, whether it's the native data stream or converted to another codec that's good for editing.
It might not hold up to being scaled, regardless of how it's currently compressed. The picture is farily compressed as soon as it's recorded as XDCAM. Converting to something like ProRes, or Animation at best, or Photo-JPEG at best, only minimizes a compression generation loss when re-compressing later transitions, superimpositions, exporting and so forth.

  • Why is my black and white video showing purple/green color cast from ProRes 422 h264?

When transcoding from ProRes 422 to h264 in Adobe Media Encoder, I'm seeing both green and purple color cast on my black and white video.  ProRes on top, h264 on bottom.

What do you make of the fact that the same video, encoded in MPEG Streamclip does not have the issue on the same hardware, played in Quicktime Player?
A valid data point for consideration, but the only way to know with certainty is to get the image onto a calibrated TV.
Observation will always trump deduction.  So...observe!  (Just be sure to do it accurately with a calibrated TV.)
The Vimeo preset is creating H.264 MP4 files.  AVCHD is a very specific subset of the H.264 codec, and cannot be generated by PP.

  • How do you make one video clip constantly switch colors?

I am trying to make it that one video clip switches from one color then to another color then to another? I also don't want to break up the clip into multiple clips then just change the color on each sub clip because when I tried that, it wouldn't load well in playback because there were so many effects in a couple of seconds. Please help me, thanks!

When you say 'switch from one color then to another color' do you mean you want the clip to show in shades of a single colour ranging from black to your colour and for that colour to change, or that you want the colours of the image to cycle so that red becomes blue, yellow becomes green and blue becomes red?
If it is the 'shades of a single colour' you want, apply the 'Cast' effect from the 'Looks' section of the effects palette and use keyframes to animate the Midtones parameter.
If you want to colour cycle, apply my free 'Gradient Colorize a4d' effect, edit the colours in the gradient and keyframe the 'Offset' parameter which cycles the gradient colours through the image. If you're interested I could create a free effect that could cycle through the colours in a gradient automatically.
Download 'Gradient Colorize a4d' from my blog:

  • Night shot video (like infrared) to color

    Hello to all of you
I have a problem. In my wedding a week ago, I had given my Sony videocamera to my brother in law to take some shoots. But he accidentaly turned on the NightShot Mode and the video were.... like infrared! My black costume turned in to a green-blue etc. Is it possible via video filters or sth, to fix it? At least not entirely but somewhat better and near the true color of video?
    Thank you in advance

You might make an artistic choice and turn it all Black and White...

  • When I upload AE video to YouTube, the color is off (White turns to light Grey). How do I fix this?

The title explains my issue plain and simple.
Just a quick background, i do not know much about color spaces.  But I do know that different
forms of media require using different colors (RGB, CMYK, all that stuff).
I'm assuming this is the issue in my case - wrong color space or exporting formats.
    My question is:
What do I need to do to get the final video that I exported to look exactly the same (in terms of color) when
it's uploaded on YouTube? Strictly just the color, because I understand quality goes down when uploaded to YouTube.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

You haven't given us much information about what you rendered out of AE.
I always recommend rendering an intermediate codec out of After Effects (Cineform, DNxHD, Quicktime with the PhotoJPEG codec, etc.) and then taking that intermediate file into the Adobe Media Encoder to create your final piece. The Adobe Media Encoder even has YouTube presets.

  • Video is randomly distorted (color inverted) in Premiere Pro CC 2014

Below is a screen grab of what the distortion looks like. It happens regardless of CODEC, sequence setting or type of video file. It happens to MPG, MOV and AVI files equally. It even happens to still graphics. Here are the particulars for my computer:
Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 running on an
AMD FX 6 Core processor at 3.5 GHz with
10GB memory, the video card is an
    AMD Radeon HD 7450.
As I explain in the graphic, this problem pops up randomly regardless of what other programs are running in the background or none, and the only way to fix it is to reboot the computer.

This looks like a graphic card issue. Try the latest driver or if you are on that try an earlier version.

Premiere is fine, but not Lightroom.
