S10-3t: anyone tries adding GPS/3G module?

I found from taobao that there is a 3G + GPS module fitting for any laptop with minicard slot:

Any has tried this kind of card before?
The seller said it may need to hack the bios first.

Check out this topic out http://www.netbooks.ph/forums/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=2220
He added a WWAN 3G card to his s10-3t and details hacking the bios since lenovo has the bios locked to certain wwan cards.

    but it needs some modules from CPAN ... well i know how to get them for my machine over the perl-cpan shell, but this is not the arch-way ... has anyone tried to pack them to packages?

    according to apeiro these files should not be installed. i believe they are just database module that cpan uses. there fore they are pointless in an arch package. perl packages can be alot more detailed than the one you post here. many do not have an easy ./configure&&make&&make install. often doing the make install part wil create an empty package as the files go directly to your computer.
    just execute caution when building.
    thanx, i will remove this file from the packages that i build from cpan, ok

    I saw the set hibernet mode to 0 trick and it failed.  Guess I can try 3 because reinstalling OS X did nothing but cost me another few hours and a little faith in Apple.  Getting annoyed as I see how many people complain of the identical issue and the fixes are variable and random.  Suggests to me that it is a major design flaw in the hardware and Apple got too cute with the just works idea and didn't put a damned power button on the display so there is no manual way to do it and no 'insert a pin here' type trick to reset the thing.
    Asking for a refund tomorrow.  Past the 14 days so maybe they'll say no but if so then every time this happens I will swap it out.  At least then I know it is a three hour fix and as I was working on this for hours today it occurred to me that if the trick is to do 57 different things and maybe one will work then that is not why I made the switch to Apple.  I could plug everything in on my PC and it all 'just worked'.
    Really poor customer service - the support folks are very nice and I am sure they know that this is a systemic issue but aren't allowed to say so.  Feeling pretty stupid for going on faith right about now.

    I tried adding mobile accessibility and now i can't unlock my phone.  Can anyone help?

    From
    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-GB/how-to/wp8/basics/accessibility-on-my-phone
    Tap Restart phone.
    After  your has phone restarted, a message about the lock screen will be read  aloud. Tap the lock screen at any time to hear the time, date and  notifications read aloud. To unlock your phone, flick the screen up.   (If you have a password, tap any number key to hear that number read  aloud, then double-tap to enter the number as part of your password.)
    If this is the first time you've turned on Mobile Accessibility,  you'll be presented with a training session to help you quickly learn  how to use it. (You can return to the training at any time by  triple-tapping the screen to access the Quick Menu, then selecting Support > Touch Training.) Otherwise, the Mobile Accessibility home screen will load.
    Worse case a hard reset will clear it (you will of course erase the phone)

  • Did anyone tried Rejection Message Handler via Queue based method?

    Dear All,
    I am presently doing a Rejected Message Handler process and successfully implemented with File based and Web Service based. But I am not getting the clue for Queue based. We can enqueue the rejected message into queue as a JMS message via this method. But the URI format they have given is *"jdbc:oracle:thin:@<host>:<port>:<sid>#<un>/<pw>#queue"*. Format includes jdbc connection string along with queue name. For this I have created JMS module with JDBC Persistent store and created queue in it. But still I am not able to enqueue the message inside the queue. Also, is there anyway to see the queue names inside the DB. Did anyone tried this method? Could you please share the info??

    WL JMS Queue consume>BPEL1 (One way) invoke>Mediator service (one way) route> BPLE2 (one way). Also I have added transaction properties in BPEL1 and 2 + References + Services.
    Now, if there is a fault in BPEL2 the transaction should be rolled back in BPEL1 and the message should be seen in the WL queue itself. But that is not happening in my case. Everything is getting rolled back upto a point just after the >recieve activity in BPEL1 except the message is not getting rolled back to queue.There will be 2 transactions in this scenario : 1) jms queue to soa hydration store 2) soa-hydration to bpel execution.
    This is the behaviour for 1 way or async interfaces , jms adapter thread completes its transaction work after persisitng to dehydration store and another bpel system thread starts work executing the bpel code after retrieving the message off the db in a separate transaction. So the rollback you are seeing is only applicable for 2nd transaction which roll backs to the dehydration store instead of the queue.
    For synchronous interfaces, the same adapter thread will be involved for complete message processing including bpel code execution. So I think if you want to get the jms queue within the same transaction you can try set up the interfaces to be sync, even with dummy responses. This might make jms adapter thread to start a transaction --> read message off queue within the same transaction --> execute bpel code within same transaction --> complete/rollback transaction based on bpel code execution.

  • RAM Upgrade for Late 2009 Mac Mini -- anyone tried 16gb?

    Just a stupid question.. I've got a Mac Mini server (late 2009) that came with 4Gb of RAM.. The machine has never been speedy by any means and after finally getting some time to look into why, I think I know mostly why.. I've got the machine setup handling DNS, email (with Amavis, spam handling,etc), both MySQL and Postgres databases, Apache+WebDAV+iCAL and of course handling 2-3 user accounts being logged in at all times (using iTunes, Safari, etc).  if I pull up Activity Monitor or use the "MemoryStick" utility, I see that my RAM usage is typically (almost always) at about 96% used with 7 swap files running.. I've never seen it below about 95% used.  I know that this machine is capable of being outfitted with 8Gb of RAM (although Apple does not necessarily endorse that config).  So, this leads to my next question -- has anyone taken some 8Gb RAM modules such as these : http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/1333DDR3S32S/  and tried plopping two of them in to see if they're recognized as 8Gb modules and used or not?  I also have a brand-new 15" MBP (2011 model) that seems to occasionally suffer from the same fate -- it's also got 4GB of RAM and last night for quite a while it was at the 90% utilization level for RAM as well while importing some videos in iMovie '11..
    I'll have to admit that I'm wondering whether 8Gb is going to be enough RAM for my purposes on the mini.. I suspect I'm probably asking it to do too much -- all of this used to be done on an older model HP Proliant server (quad CPU, hot-swap drives, redundant power supplies,etc) -- but it cost about $40+ per month in power alone..
    Anyone?

    Thx.. I've actually upgraded to a new 2011 Mac Mini which can still take those same 8Gb ram sticks.. Interestingly enough the new Mac Mini server still comes with a measly 4gb of RAM which just doesn't cut it with OSX Lion -- I'm constantly at 1% free RAM when I've got Mail.app running.. Ugg.. Hopefully once I put 12Gb or 16Gb in, it'll hum along..

  • Looking for advice on adding GPS data to pictures in iPhoto

    I'm thinking about beginning the process of adding GPS location data to my pictures in iPhoto. I've got about 9,000 pictures overall but was going to start with the ones from this year (about 1,500) as a trial. My digital camera is not GPS-enabled nor do I own a portable GPS receiver. Therefore, my option is basically to look at 3rd party apps that integrate with iPhoto to allow me to 'manually' add the data.
    From what I understand, iPhoto caches all EXIF data upon import so any additional information or metadata added after the pictures are in my iPhoto library would be lost or ignored (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). If this is true, I'm looking at exporting the pictures out of iPhoto, bringing them into another application (like HoudahGeo) to add the GPS EXIF data, them re-importing them back into iPhoto. Seems like a lot of work, but down the road I like the idea of having all my photos tagged with their location info and being able to view them through Google Earth or other similar apps.
    Has anyone had experience doing this? Have you found a utility or other workflow that is easier than what I mentioned? Thanks in advance for any ideas or support anyone can provide.
    Regards,
    Bill

    Bill:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. PhotoGPSEditor works well and you can batch add gps data based on Google Map determination. You can drag same location photos from iPhoto's thumbnail window into PhotoGPSEditor's window, add the gps data by selecting the location on the Google map and when you save it asks you for a location. Then you can save to a folder on the desktop and reimport. The gps data shows up under the Exposure section of the Info window in iPhoto.
    I've only done it on a test basis but it worked quit well.

  • Anyone tried the next-day-retail-pickup option for an iPhone 5?

    Has anyone here tried the next-day-retail-pickup option for an iPhone 5?
    Has anyone tried it - but still not gotten one?
    Right now I have my iPhone 5 ordered online through Apple.   It's not expected for a few more weeks, alas.
    Two days after I placed that order , Apple announced that you could order online after 10pm for next day pickup at a retail store.
    I called Apple to ask if I could simply "convert" my existing order to a next day pickup.
    I was told that I'd have to (1) cancel the online order (2) maybe wait a day for my upgrade-pricing eligibility to reset and THEN (3) place the order online after 10pm.
    BUT - she also added that even the next-day-pickup orders were subject to stores' inventory.
    So, I called my local store to ask about availability.   Rather than telling me anything about their current inventory, the gal there just repeated that I should order online after 10pm.
    Of course, the entire point of my doing this would be to reduce my wait time (not roll the dice on MAYBE reducing my wait time.)
    Yet apparently my only option is to "step out of line" with my existing online order before I can even see how long the line is for in-store pickup.
    If it turns out I'll have to keep trying again every night after 10pm in the HOPE that maybe this time there'll be an iPhone 5 available for the next day, then I go from my current 2-3 week wait to a god-only-knows-how-long wait, with nightly online order attempts.
    There's no way for me to adequately express my distaste for this catch-22 without using verboten language.
    If anyone has an idea how I can TRY the next-day-pickup trick WITHOUT first squandering the 2 weeks I've already been in the online queue - please let me know.

    i have the same dilema brian. Does anybody know how many reservations there are a day?
    What are the odds of getting a space?
    I might as well enter the x factor phone in and hope i win!!! f'ing joke.
    I'm going to phone local store and ask how many iphones are sold each day.
    Meanwhile wait 4 weeks for online order. Ha!

  • Anyone tried the new Weblogic Scripting Tool (WLST)?

    Has anyone tried using the new WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) that was recently
    posted on the dev2dev WebLogic Utilities site: http://dev2dev.bea.com/resourcelibrary/utilitiestools/adminmgmt.jsp
    It looks to be a handy tool that is built upon jython and enables you to easily
    navigate, inspect and manipulate the WebLogic MBean tree on a running server.
    It also has a nice scripting tool which allows you to convert a config.xml file
    into a script that can be run to recreate a domain or specific resources within
    the domain. This is exactly something I have been looking for because we occasionally
    recreate domains or subsets of a domain for testing and POC purposes.
    The utility is fairly well documented and works well for the most part. The only
    issue I have run into so far is that is does not seem to understand JMS Distributed
    Destinations. When I try to convert a config.xml that contains a DD to a script
    it throws a null pointer exception. I have not tried a cluster yet.
    I noticed the utility was authored by someone at BEA. Is there potential that
    BEA will support this in the future if it catches on? Has anyone had experience
    with WLST or jython that would cause you to reccomend (or not) using it?
    Thanks.

    Darryl,
    Thanks for the valuable feedback. My comments are inline.

    As a fairly long time wlshell user who recently started testing wlst there are
    few features I have found lacking in wlst.
    1. For monitoring purposes I am frequently using the -g and -r options to wlshell's
    get command for graphing and repeating respectivelyI haven't looked at -g and -r options in wlshell, but will do so.
    Although there is no graphical monitoring of attributes in wlst, but
    there is certainly some monitoring capability (which will be enhanced
    further in the coming version). Please take a look at the
    monitorAttribute() function.
    wls:/(offline)> help('monitorAttribute')
    Description:
    Monitors the specified attribute every by polling every interval.
    Syntax:
    monitorAttribute(attributeName, interval, monitorFile)
    attributeName = Name of the attribue that you would like to monitor.
    interval = Time (in seconds) to wait before the next fetch
    monitorFile=[optional] File path where the monitored data will be
    written to.
    Example:
    wls:/mydomain/runtime/ServerRuntimes/myserver/ExecuteQueueRuntimes/weblogic.kernel.Default>
    monitorAttribute("ServicedRequestTotalCount",10)
    Press Return to quit monitoring
    Monitoring started for attribute ServicedRequestTotalCount

    >
    2. wlshell 2.0 adds the option when connecting to the admin server to also connect
    to all managed servers in that domain. This is a nice feature for monitoring because
    you then have access to all the runtime mbeans in each managed serverYes, this indeed seems to be a very nice feature. We will consider this
    for our next release.
    >
    3. There is not a good way to pass cmd line options(variables) to wlst. In wlshell
    I can send cmd line options via -v. I have tried something similar with wlst using
    -loadProperties but this is a little laborious because I do not necessarily want
    to create a properties file when a passing in only one or two variables. Also
    I find loadProperties lacking somewhat (see 4 below)ok, I just realised that there is indeed a bug in wlst where the command
    line arguments are not being honored. In Jython one can access the
    command line arguments from the sys.argv variable. For example,
    java weblogic.WLST -i foo.py var1 var2 var3
    Initializing WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) ...
    Welcome to Weblogic Server Administration Scripting Shell
    Type help() for help on available commands
    wls:/offline> print sys.argv
    ['foo.py', 'var1', 'var2', 'var3']
    wls:/offline>
    But this isn't working properly, please keep using the loadProperties
    untill this has been fixed.
    >
    4) loadProperties treats all created variables as strings. While this is understandable
    from the perspective that getProperty returns a string, it would be nice if wlst
    was smart enough that when a property is numbers only its an int, otherwise a
    string etc.
    wlshell does this logic/conversion for you which really simplifies calling methods
    that expect the particular datatype. To get around this problem you can create a script file say,
    variables.py which would look like,
    # variables that will be used
    theInterpreter.set('var1',10)
    theInterpreter.set('var2','i am a string')
    java weblogic.WLST variables.py
    Initializing WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) ...
    Welcome to Weblogic Server Administration Scripting Shell
    Type help() for help on available commands
    wls:/(offline)> print var1
    10
    wls:/(offline)> print var2
    'i am a string'
    >
    5. I'd like to be able to send cmd output etc to a file while running within wlst.
    In wlshell its a simple as adding >> filename to the end of the command. In wlst it is not as simple as doing >>, it is more than that. You can
    choose any output stream to direct your output to. In your case you can
    create a FileOutputStream and route the output to this stream for any
    particular command.
    Example,
    # create a file output stream say fos
    from java.io import FileOutputStream
    fos = FileOutputStream("output.txt")
    # save the default output stream to a variable to
    # switch it back
    sys.stdout=fos
    # Now all output for any function will go to output.txt
    ls()
    cd('foo')
    # after done with your functions switch it back
    sys.stdout=origOutput
    This is the right Jython way to do it. This works for all output streams
    , very useful when you embed an interpreter in a servlet and would like
    to display the output via a PrintStream etc.
    >
    >
    All in all wlst is a nice tool. Personally if the above features were added it
    would be much easier to transistion to wlst for good.
    Also I really like the wlst offline tool. Its nice to be able to do the whole
    create and configure domain process with one tool. Will this be supported. Yes indeed. We are working on merging both the tools into one.
    I do
    not want to rely on it too much if it will not work in future weblogic versions.It will be supported in future release of weblogic.

  • EE have taken my credit when I tried adding texts on 453.

    EE have taken my credit when I tried adding texts on 453. I tried adding "unlimited" texts via my usual method, dialling 453 and going through the steps. But what happened was, I got to the stage where I had confirmed my purchase, and suddenly, the voice said that there was an "error" and I recieved no confirmation that the payment had processed. However, the credit was deduced, leaving me with just over £2.50 credit (the texts were £7.50). It's been 3 hours, and with EE's helpline being closed, and the fact I now have no texts leaving me unable to contact anyone, I am stuck, and ripped off out of £10. Any help?

    Hi ,
    This can take 24 hours to activate.
    Is this now working?
    Thanks.

  • Has anyone tried connecting 2 printers to TC?

    Last night, I tried adding a second printer (both printers are HP's, a Photosmart 1215 and a Photosmart 370) connected through a USB hub, of course. However, the TC didn't couldn't see either printer. Then I unplugged the hub and plugged the 1215 back directly into the TC and it all worked perfectly and I could print remotely.
    So has anyone connect more than 1 printers to a TC (or AEBS)?

    I have: Eastman Kodak printer dock and Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 1020
    Neither are officially MAC supported printers, and both work no problem on the TC !
    (using a USB 1.1 hub, non-powered)
    Note that it did take several reboots of the TC and about half an our before the USB printers were detected and shown on the TC Bonjour page, so be patient.

  • Adding a function module into a SQ01 Query

    Hi ABAP Gurus,
    I was trying to extract few dates from TSEGE Table, by linking the VTTK - HANDLE. We are trying to look at maintaining dates of shipment that were not previously used in our company.
    When I tried extracting the dates from TSEGE, they come as timestamped UTC. I was told to use the function module IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP with CET in a query by an external consultant we use for our services. I am familiar with creating simple queries in SQVI and convert them to SQ01, also I know to create queries in SQ01 itself. But do not know how to add a function module into an SQ01 Query.
    After checking a few threads, I realise that I should be creating a field and entering the code of the function module.
    Is there any way, anybody could instruct me in simple terms how do I go about adding a function module.
    Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Dear Jogeswara,
    I have after reading a few threads, understood this small code and changed to my specification
    To convert UTC Start time from TSEGE
    CALL FUNCTION 'IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP'
      EXPORTING
        I_TIMESTAMP = TSEGE-EVEN_TSTFR
        I_TZONE = CET
      IMPORTING
        e_datlo = date
        e_timlo = time
    To convert UTC Start End from TSEGE
    CALL FUNCTION 'IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP'
      EXPORTING
        i_timestamp = TSEGE-EVEN_TSTTO
        i_tzone = CET
      IMPORTING
        e_datlo = date
        e_timlo = time
    I hope the above codes are correct. If yes, I have a doubt: TSEGE-EVEN_TSTFR & TSEGE-EVEN_TSTTO have different time in the same field, "Actual" & "Forecast", which is determined by TSEGE-EVEN_VERTY wherein 1 is Actual and 0 is Forecast. Is this something I would have to put in the code, or something that would work in the query "Selection Fields"?
    Thanks again!
