i installed update bios 24cn25ww , and now hardware switch for wireless not work, even LED not light.
Fn+F5 not work, neither in QS or windows 7
who not install this, please give me backup file of your bios, thx

bios backup?
if you didn't delete the folder, check the folder "c:\bios" bios.bak file. bios.bak file is your previous bios. rename to bios.wph and use it.

Does the S10 support BIOS tracking such as Computrace (lojack for laptops)

Computrace apparently has partners with many manufacturers, including Lenovo. Does the S10 support BIOS installation, or will I be limited to a software only install?

Ah yea, now I see where it could have been confusing. Computrace is also known as "lowjackforlaptops' and is the same company as the link you posted, absolute.com. Actually, I think computrace is its previous name. After some research, I think it may be one of the best solutions. Only issue is, I think that for the PC version, all it really does is log IP addresses, which can be accomplished with some free software, such as "Locate PC". I suppose 1 good advantage to computrade/absolute.com is that they handle all the investigation and warrant requests, which is a nice touch.
Back to "Locate PC". It's free, runs silently, and emails you (via smtp server) each time the IP changes on the computer that it is installed on. I installed it last night and it has successfully emailed me each of the 3 times I relocated to a new location (new IP address). I am not sure absolute.com does much more than this.

2. Add Password-on-boot functionality to BIOS CMOS settings.

4. Resolve the problem with the short-cut key for wireless connections configuration (FN+F5).The system is not able to save the changes entered through the short-cut key.

If your fan is not running other than just at startup, no matter what your system is doing, then I would suggest you contact service.
You can try loading BIOS defaults and be sure to save and exit. You can also try turning off, removing battery and AC and pressing and holding power button several times.   I don't believe either of these will change your situation.

Thanks for sharing your tip on reserved video memory settings. How much total memory do you have in your system?
There is extensive discussion on fans / temp / and monitoring program results (speedfan and others) on this board.   I will note that starting on version 58 of the BIOS, the temp data is being drawn from a different sensor.

S10 Loads Bios then Stops, have to Hit Any Key to Load Windows XP

I have a Lenovo S10, after powering on, the just loads the bios screen of LENOVO. With the F2 & F12 at the bottom of the screen. If you press F2 to setup & F12 to Boot Menu, it will do so.
When you press other keys, it will then load windows xp.
In the Boot Order, I already put the HDD on top (the first) but you have to hit any key for Windows to load.
Why?
Also, flashed the bios to version 14CN94WW. But did not help.
Suggestions? Assistance?

to exclude BIOS ... go in BIOS and press F9 to setup defaults....
set in Config page quickstart disabled and Beep disabled
F10 and exit
unplug PSU and Battery press 30seconds switch On Button ...
Then plug PSU and Battery in ... press Switch On ... if this wait behavior is gone...OK if not ... it could something to do with harddrive ... easy if you have another harddrive to check this , if not save your data and work on other media and recover to factory condition...
overal there is no wait for key in BIOS should boot straight forward into OS without that press any key ...

How to hack the S10-3T bios for deleting hardware whitelist?

I plan to install a 3g+GPS minicard module on my s10-3t, but it seems that the bios has a lock on the allowed hardware to be installed on the machine, called while list. how to remove this restriction?

HELP! My S10-3T BIOS password

I just recently needed to access the BIOS setup of my Ideapad S10-3t and I was surprised to find it password protected. I bought it brand new more than two years ago and I didn't set any password for sure.
I had search for the solution from web for few days but I can't find any answer.
I had contacted lenovo supports and they can exchange the motherborad to solve the problem but I need to pay US$200.
I believe that many S10-3T users got the same problem and Anyone can teach me how to solve it?

S10 - new BIOS anytime recently?

A few months back, when I was first configuring my new S10 (6423-27G), I reported some BIOS issues after I installed an additional 4Gb of RAM. Basically, I could not convince Setup to record the new 6Gb RAM amout, so on each reboot, I got POST failures.
Eventually, rebooting after swapping a system board jumper enabled me to clear CMOS and start over, and now the machine boots fine ...
... except, of course, when I have a USB thumb drive inserted ("Configuration Error"), and other such things. Likewise, I cannot set a Setup password: at each boot up, POST complains there has been a configuration change.
In short, it appears that having a Setup password stops all manner of POST functions from working properly, and someone (Erik) suggested a new BIOS might be coming out.
Anyone know if one has, yet? And if so, does it fix these problems?

S10-3t Bios recovery procedure.

I've try many different procedures that I found over Internet. Nothing really worked for me, and I think nobody really published correct.

S10-3T BIOS bug?

We have purchased four Lenovo S10-3T (product code ********, greek version) and all four have the same problem:
Out of the box and on first boot, two BIOS issues appear:
ERROR 271Check Date and Time setting
WARNING 251 System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used
When you hit F2 to setup, a password is required - although no password has been set. A blank password doesn't work.
When you exit the setup (without entering the actual settings due to the password protection) , Windows first time setup continues with installation and creation of user account etc.
When I retry to enter BIOS Setup, the password prompt always appears.
Also have a look below at the screenshot.
Is it a BIOS bug which enables a supervisor password, or maybe a backup battery issue?

S10-3S: BIOS Update issue - Recovery procedure possible ?

Dear all,
yesterday i flash the new Bios "LM30_0128 / 38CN11WW" into my S10-3S (Memory compatibility Bios)
under Windows 7-Home 32Bit.
The Bios routine runs and after a while, the Ideapad booting self. But now, i only see a black screen after
PowerSwitch on. No Bios beep. No Infos. Nothing ! Only the 3left LEDs are white ! The Screen is death !
So i research the Lenovo Forums about to fixing this.
I found a lot of Informations about the BIOS Recovery Procedure and try different versions about that.
I create the "Crisis" Emergency Floppy /USB Stick with the Files inside the "LM30_0128.exe". No Problems !
I try USB Floppy and USB Stick but nothing happens if i press the different Keyboard Combinations:
FN+F, FN+R, FN+ESC, FN+B, Windows+F, Windows+R, Windows+ESC, Windows+B . No access
to floppy or USB Stick ! No Boot Process. Nothing !
Knows anybody the Keyboard Code to go inside the Bios Recovery Process ?

if that doesnt help , please give a bit time , so we can look for a solution in case of bricked s10-3s..
Meanwhile dont update to new BIOS for S10-3s.
if isnt clear whats going on with S10-3s.

New Bios update for S10e compatible with original S10?

I saw on S10lenovo that they said the fan problem is now fixed with the new bios, so it runs at a low speed all the time instead of going on and off(which is quite annoying). I was wondering if the bios update is compatible with the original S10? if not, then when will the original S10's bios update be available? Thanks!

If your not familiar with bios updates, be very careful. Make sure your 100% positive its the proper one and it works, flashing an incorrect bios will essentially cripple your system.
