S10 Win 7 Power Management

Hello everyone,
I have an S10 which I am dual booting XP and Windows 7 RC. Win 7 is working well, except I have had problems with the Lenovo Power Management. Crashes, machine won't wake from sleep, etc.
From what I've gathered others here have had success using Lenovo Power Management with Win 7. What driver/software are you guys using?
I am using the 32-bit version of Win 7 and have had nothing but problems. Any other advice as far as settings I should be using, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
i use this EM install as admin and set it for vista compatible.. all works no probs
Lenovo Energy Management Driver
Touchpad Driver
same install as admin and set it for vista compatble
and this little tool runs without install simply start it and surfing is more ....

I realize Windows 7 isnt supported as of yet.I am using the release candidate of it and Im having issues with the laptop turning itself on after Ive shut it down.Sometimes it comes on hours later lol as if its possessed. That is if i can get it to stay shutdown. Most of the time it just restarts.I have the Vista 64 Version of Lenovo Power management installed maybe I should remove that and use Win 7s native powermanagement?Any ideas or anyone else have similar Issues?
    Thanks

  • Feature request Lock workstation (Win+L) when Lid is closed ~ power manager option

Under "Events" in Power Manager windows there are any options what should happen when you use this or that hotkey or when you close laptop lid.
But what it really misses is an option to just Lock the laptop - same pressing Win+L
Can you consider adding that option, when I close laptop lid to do just that?

I don't think that would ever be a feature of power manager since locking the screen is not a power management function, but check this out:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-77008
If your thinkpad has a camera you can configure it to lock automatically anytime there is no keyboard/mouse activity AND a face is not detected after xx seconds (including when screen is closed).  It works great and I use it on my T500.
I realize this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I offer it as a way to lock your screen if you can't remember to press Win+L before closing lid.

I just installed Power Manager for Win 7 x64 Version 6.64.4 on my new W530 and tried to set Battery Maintenance and there is no button to do so on the battery page.  Why isn't it there and what can I do to get it back?  I mostly use AC and want to maximize battery life.

I think you might have to click "Advanced" on the main screen to get the battery maintenence option to appear.

  • Could someone please upload S405 Power Management Win 8 app!!

    Hello,
As I discovered in my previous thread, the S405 model's screen brightness goes to 30% in Win 7 if you don't use the special Power Management Win 8 application which is located on drive D of you S405, but is not available for download from Lenovo.
Could someone be so kind as to upload that application from the D:\apps directory of your S405 and upload it somewhere like dropbox or mediafire?
    Thank you!

  • X230 Win 8.1 Power Management Device Driver Issue

    Hi,
Fresh Win 8 build, in place upgrade to 8.1. Then all Lenovo tools updated and latest Lenovo compatability package installed.
This device is not detected properly. I believe it is a Power Manager driver issue (based on an older post with the same problem, but no resolution posted).

    Device instance path: ACPI\LEN0078\5&2890D699&0
Location: on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller
I've tried the typical deletion of the device and re-run the PM driver install package (latest from Lenovo.com). No change. The device is listed back in Device Manager as an "Unknown" device.
Anyone out there know the solution? I hope it is something I am just over looking.

  • X61 power manager on Win 7 64bit

I have installed Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate edition on my X61 with 4Gb RAM.
Fully charged, the power manager shows over 2 hours available time, but the problem I have is that the machine will, without any warning, perform a "critical power level" shutdown when the power available is still showing in excess of 1 hour.
After reconnecting the charger and restarting the machine, the power manager now shows almost empty - just over 5%.
All drivers and utilities are the latest available, based on the System Update tool.  The battery also does not come up as being on the recall list, and in all other respects is in good condition - the cycle count is only 56. The power manager reports version 3.31
Has anyone else observed similar behaviour for the power manager on an X61 ??

    Hello mate,

  • Lenovo Power Manager Win 8.1 (T550) / Akkufragen

    Liebe Community,

Hello again.  I found the solution!! Simplly clean installing Windows 7pro  and getting rid of Windows 8 did the trick. the USB 3.0 hard drive stays connected as long as I like. The 3.0 speeds are great also.  It's a shame I bought Windows 8 on a pre-installed system, but I'm never gonna use it. I like the fact that Lenovo provided the Windows 7 Drivers on the support website for my H535 which gave me the opportunity to install OEM and AMD drivers as opposed to microsoft generic drivers.
Now I need to find a product key. I don't know where to look or if any product key work work. Would buying a Retail box work? Seems like overkill just for a key. Can I buy a downloadable product product key for a cheaper price? Thanks
To add: I found out that the Windows 7 pro x64 retail boxes (DVD, COA, KEY) are about $130-$140.  I don't think I want to buy a key without the COA which is proof that your key is authentic.

  • Lost Beats Audio Control Panel, Windows Experience Index and HP Power Manager on fresh install...

    HP Pavilion m6-1035dx, product B5S06UA#ABA
Please help! I installed a 240gb SanDisk Extreme SSD and a fresh install of Win 7 home premium 64-bit OEM. I did not reinstall the factory OS and all that goes along with it. I have managed to reinstall all drivers (it seems) but am having the following problems: 1) I have installed IDT HD Audio Driver sp56953 but it does not provide the Beats Audio control panel, any idea how to get it? 2) The Windows Experience Index will not provide a performance evaluation, something in the system is providing it with an error message when it attempts to rate the system and it stops. 3) I have installed HP Power Manager sp57398 and can bring up the control panel but the changes I indicate will not stay applied, when I bring up Power Manager again it show that no selections are made. I knew this fresh install was going to provide headaches, please help if you can. Thanks.

I suspect this may all be related to a common cause.
When updating the windows experience index, what is the error message you receive?
Has the video card driver been installed? It is necessary for the windows experience index to complete.
Also, ensure the HP Software Framework is installed.  It is under the Software Solutions category.
You did a clean install of Windows 7. Has all the software and drivers for Windows 7 from HP been installed? Here is a link should you need it.

  • Portege M800-107: Power Management & HDD Protection Utility questions!

    Hi all,
I own a Toshiba Portege M800-107, I have recently installed windows 7 (ultimate edition), which enhanced my laptop capabilities. The only problems I face are:
    1) The Power Management utility, where I have install the required drivers from the official page of Toshiba, the problem is that the Value Added package is installed without the power management. For now I over come the problem by using the power options offered by Windows 7.
    2) The most important problem is the HDD Protection Utility which every time I try to install the driver from the official site, it stops the installation with the reason that this "hardware is not supported by this computer"
Apart those problems the laptop is working perfectly and faster.
If any one could assist me with my problems I would be very appreciated.

    > 1) The Power Management utility, where I have install the required drivers from the official page of Toshiba, the problem is that the Value Added package is installed without the power management. For now I over come the problem by using the power options offered by Windows 7.
There is no special Power Saver tool for Win 7. The Value added package provides some additional options which you can find in Win 7/Vista power management.
    Check this HowTo:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=41
    > 2) The most important problem is the HDD Protection Utility which every time I try to install the driver from the official site, it stops the installation with the reason that this "hardware is not supported by this computer"
The HDD Protection Utility using the acceleration sensor built in the computer.
The point is that there are different M800 on the market and possibly your M800 does not support the acceleration sensor. This could be the reason why you cannot install this tool.

  • Can't get R&R or Power Manager to work under upgraded Win7 on X61

I recently upgraded my X61 from Win Vista Business to Win7 Pro. While doing so I installed the new and supposedly Windows 7 compatible versions of R&R and Power Manager. However, I can't seem to get either to work - I can't even start the applications. Both immediately crash and tell me that "Lenovo Application has stopped working" (R&R) and "Power Manager has stopped working." I do get the power gauge in the task bar, but I cannot click it (same error/crash).
I followed the instructions and have therefore updated all the applicable drivers etc, e.g. the new version of CSS for R&R and the Power Management Driver for Power Manager, but it still doesn't work. I've also tried reinstalling (both uninstall followed by install and repair/reinstall). Does anybody know what's going on? What could be wrong?
Is anybody else experiencing the same [kind of] problem? Are there any solutions?
    Thanks!
    Per Bylund
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I believe I've found the reason for the problem I had with both R&R and the Power Manager (also discussed here): I did not have .NET framework 3.5.1 SP 1 installed. It is obviously disabled by default on Win7, so one will have to enable it through Control Panel -> Uninstall a program -> Turn Windows features on or off (and then make sure to check the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 check box).
The strange thing is that I have not found the information that .NET framework is required anywhere - Lenovo obviously didn't think of supplying it. I just happened to find the solution when installing the upgrade for the Lenovo Toolbox, which could not be finished without first installing the framework (and the Toolbox installation program told me this was required).
So make sure you have the .NET framework enabled if you want to run a bunch of the ThinkVantage applications!

  • T61P XP/SP3 - Power Manager Problems, Can't save schemes, limited schemes available

Hi All - When I got this -rockin'- laptop originally I could set my own power schemes without problem.  Now it won't save my new powerschemes.  I try to create one, finish the last step, and then the power scheme isn't in the dropdown.  I read somewhere on the Web that this may be related to SP3.
Also, the only Power Schemes I have access to are Video Playback and Maximum Performance.  I have tried uninstalling Power Manager and the associated DLL and then reinstalling, but that didn't help.  Also, I see no reference to this problem in troubleshooting.  Thanks in advance.  This is getting really annoying as I like to use as little power as possible since I use teh computer on battery power quite often.

  • ThinkVantage Power Manager - idle time for screen brightness fixed at 1minute (very anoying)

    Dear all,
    Please consider this problem:
I have just recieved my new X301 which I am very pleased with. However the ThinkVantage Power Manager has a very annoying bug. When creating a custom power scheme everything works as it should (as far as I can tell) except for one thing. Whilst in the "Idle timers" section the first drop down box which allows you to select the "lower display brightness" time in the "battery settings" column I find that I can select any of the options provided, i.e. "After 1 minute", "After 2 minutes", ...etc "After 45 minutes" or "Never". HOWEVER, regardless of what option I select the power manager instantly reverts back to "After 1 minute" as soon as I exit (selecting the "apply" button or the "okay" button does not help). This is incredibly anoying as it means I'm constantly harrased by the sreen changing brighness when I don't want it to OR having to set the "Lower to" setting to the same as the active screen brightness which means there are no power saving advantages at all and I get the anoying flash of the brightness bars on the screen every 60 seconds (that's 60 times in a working hour!)
I have done the following to try to resolve the problem:
    1) updated the power manager to the latest verion: 1.54
    2) uninstalled the power manager comletely and then reinstalled it, then applied the updates bit by bit and checking the problem at each stage
    3) completely restored the entire system to factory setup (formatting the SSD and losing all data and settings...)
NONE of these options have worked. Please note that this is a brand new system out of the box... (cost 2800USD...)
Can anyone please confirm whether or not this happens on their system as well? Is it just me or is this a global problem? I've called the Lenovo ThinkVantage call centre in the US but they couldn't help.
    Thanks for your help,
    AMS.

This is clearly a bug in PM 1.54. I get the same thing with my old X40, Win XP, SP3. I've recently installed PM 1.54, and have the same problem. It has nothing to do with scheduled tasks, as (a) I don't have any (and don't run the Task Scheduler service on my machine), and (b) it happens immediately (ie. edits are lost as soon as I try to apply them).
Does anyone know if there is an official place to log bugs for TP software?
[editM also kicks in with the 'idle' timer while I'm working.I like its functions, but PM does seem buggy]

  • Power Manager 3.05 - Can't Install on Windows 7

Anyone have a suggestion on how to install Power Manager 3.05 on Win 7. I've tried several times to manually install from download and from System Update (4.x) to no avail.  System update says I have no previous version installed... although I have a battery gauage on my taskbar.. just that none of the menu items work. System Update log claims to have a successful install and asks to reboot, but I get the same result.
The manual install from download says: "Warning. Cannot run on this system."  This is true with both 3.05 and 3.01a.
When I bring up the Control Panel, I get an error "Power Manager. An error occurred while loading resource DLL."
There is no Power Manager software listed in the "Uninstall Programs" listing - so I can't find a way to uninstall the previous version (whatever version it is, I don't know.)
    I have a t400 & W7 32bit
I currently have Hotkey installed (On Screen Display 5.32.00; Thinkpad Full Screen Magnifier 2.10)
I have PM Driver 1.55 installed - downloaded from lenovo.com.
This seems to be the last remaining issue since my upgrade to W7. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
