S10e and 4 BIOS beeps at startup

I have read a lot about this kind of problem.
First off, it is not documented in the “IdeaPad S9e, S10e, and S10 Hardware Maintenance Manual”. There is only mention of “Four cycles of four short beeps”, but clearly here I have only one cycle.
Second, according to the many posts (on different models) which I have read it seems related to the memory. Many people solved it by switching memory modules or simply replacing them. S10e has an on-board memory module which I can not remove or replace. I tried removing the extended module, but the problem remains.
Has anyone experience with this? What else could I do? Is there a possibility to shut off the on-board memory? I was looking for a jumper, but couldn’t find any.
Regards,
Davor

probably system board or ram ( internal ) issue.
contact lenovo support line and ship it back to service.
( before, try to remove the battery, un-plug the ac power, press power button for 30-40 seconds, replace the battery and check if it works. also, try to set default settings for bios )

  • Single and brief beep at startup

My PowerMac G5 quad, sometimes... I don't know... maybe one time out of thirty, beeps before the startup gong chimes. It's a brief and faint beep. I Would not swear it, but I think it's an audio beep coming from the internal speaker. What is certain is that it comes from the front part of the computer. Any ideas?
PowerMac G5 Quad, MacBook 2.0Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   PPC, you will be missed...

That sound is normal when updating the firmware.

  • Blank screen and 4 beeps on startup

Pismo w/XLR8 G4 550 upgrade, on startup get nothing on screen, 4 beeps and then green light flashes 5 times -stops- 5 flashes - stops- ad infinitum.
Anyone have any idea what might be going on. The Pismo sat for ~ 2 months and then started fine for 4 days before doing the same as described above.
Any help would be appreciated as every apple tech I have sent it to doesn't have a clue and costs close to the value of the machine.

    Your symptoms...
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
...suggest a failure of the ROM chip soldered to the microprocessor card. If you are able to lift out the microprocessor card and reseat both memory modules plus the microprocessor card, this will eliminate the remote chance that it is not the ROM chip. You may also find that repeated attempts to start may result in a success, but this does not indicate the problem is gone.

  • S10 / S10e drivers and BIOS update interchangeable?

    Hello,
there is the Lenovo Quick Start for Windows XP - IdeaPad S9e and S10e did any S10 user try to install that. For installation it requires at least BIOS version 14CN45tt. Does the BIOS update of the S10e work for the S10 and do all other drivers of the S10e work for the S10?
    Thanks for sharing any experience

I don't think QuickStart will work due to the fact that there's a splashtop on S10e and not S10, and people are still trying to figure a way to get it. Bios update however, is interchangable. I already updated my S10 with S10e's bios. I did see "some" improvements, but a very small margin. Lenovo still needs to fix the fan issue that is haunting more than half of its user.

  • Crashing and Beeping on Startup

    Hi All,
I have been having a mojor issue the past couple of days with my MacBook Pro, continually crashing and then beeping loudly when trying to startup again.
    My spec is:
MacBook Pro (late 2008 Unibody model)
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
I upgraded the memory to 2x 4GB 1067 DDR3 memory about a year and a half ago and everything has been working perfectly until now.
When using any program, the screen will turn grey from the bottom to the top, and a message appears in saying the computers need to be switched off and on again.
When I force it off, and try to turn on again, the screen will be black and will beep loudly 3 times quickly then 3 times slower, until I force it off again.
I need to repeat this several times until it will sucessfully turn on, then the message will appear again after a short time of usage.
I thought it might be a memory issue, so I removed my upgraded memory and put back in the origianl 2x 1gb chips, however the same problem is happening with that.
I visited my nearest genius bar today, but the next available appointment is not available for several days, so any advice would be very appreciated!
    Many Thanks.

  • K9N6PGM2-V, No Audio, PCI error in Device Manager, beeps on startup

I've about had it with this board and its problems, but I thought that I'd give this one last shot before I try another board.
No sound from the mobo, but USB headphones work OK.
Athlon 64 X2 6000 3 GHz OEM Processor, Kingston 2048MB DDR2-667; all drivers and bios (9.3) updated; HD audio enabled in setup, XP Pro 32 bit; CPU running at 24 deg C. On startup there are two beeps that sound about the same length; one low pitch, then a high pitch. From the command prompt when I type mem, it says there is 1 gig of memory. In System Information it says there are 2 gigs. MSI is closed for the new year ... !
I'm also not thrilled about all the crap that was installed in the tray.
    What shall I try next?

  • T500 bios beeps

I have 2 T500 laptops I use for personal use and I've been having a problem getting the 1-3-3-1 bios beeps on restart. The laptop just does the beeps and then doesn't post and requires a hard restart. Neither one does it everytime and its seems to work okay using one dimm but when I use 2 dimms I get the beeps at a random amount of restarts. I'm using Crucial memory I purchased in a set of 2. I've tried all the memory tests but find no errors. I have already sent in one once and still it gets the bios beeps. I'm running the latest bios already. Is this a bad systemboard or what? If so I must have got 3 so far! Anyone have any advice to correct this problem. I've also tried switching dimms in the different slots, but it doesn't matter as the problem still persists. By neither one does it everytime I meant every restart.

After getting advice about the problem being the memory, I tried one of the Crucial dimms a long with the original that came with laptop and this worked fine for awhile but I'm still looking for a solution! I've tried 3 different types of memory Crucial, Adata and Samsung (factory) and still have the bios beeps occassionaly. Asked a question and the reply was with 3rd party memory will get this beep error ocassionally with 3rd party memory. Suggested the only way to avoid this was to buy memory from Lenovo. On October 2nd Lenovo came out with bios 3.06 and 3.09. These appear to have corrected the problem I was having. I have done about 10+ restarts and I haven't had the bios beeps yet. I'm running 4gb Adata memory.

  • How to load bios screen at startup?

I'm trying to access the bios screen at startup. This computer has the Mac side and a Windows PC side. I want to open the bios screen in the Windows PC side (if this makes a difference) so that I can change the booting options. Can someone please help!?

iMacs and other computers from Apple do NOT contain a BIOS like Windows machines.  They use EFI in place of the BIOS and it is not user accessible.  To select which OS you boot into you need to hold down the "Command" and "R" keys while starting up and this will then load the OS selection screen.
    Hope this helps

This is what he has quoted and there's this 651M mobo as well as a CPU named 651 Cedarmill as well. The info provided just isn't clear which is what caused the confusion.
Ok. We need jaxter the Questmaster to give us the right info to conquer the quest .

Do you mean MSI 651M, M-L, or M-V? What model P4 is your 2.4ghz? Northwood, Prescot?
I'm still trying to figure exactly what is going on. Only time I've encountered beeping like that just after crash/restart with P4s was from heat.
Jaxter. Have you by chance checked your bios and changed the cpu temp warning level? Look under PC Health and see what CPU WARNING TEMP is. You may be hitting it and that's what's causing the beeping and shutdown.

  • IMac Freezes and then doesn't startup

I have a 600Mhz G3 iMac, and from some time ago, it is giving some problems.
At first, it freezes and when restarting, after the normal chime a blinking "?" folder appeared. I'm a old Mac user (15 years)...and i know that is a "No System to startup" problem...probably HD problem. But the iMac, after waiting some minutes, restarts and works fine.
Now, the problem is bigger. It freezes from time to time, and when restarting there is no normal starting sound, no Apple icon, no blinking folder...just a gray screen....and from time to time, 2 or 3 little and short beeps. It stays like that. After waiting some minutes (or even a day)..it restarts normal, as always.
Any idea what it can be? My first idea was to change the HD...but, if it is the HD, why after waiting some time (cooling??) it starts OK?
Even more, if the HD is the problem...it should sound and appear the ? folder. The starting chime should sound always, even without a HD.
So...mother board, graphic card, HD? one, 2 of 3, all of them...?

I would start the trouble-shooting by installing a new battery, unless that is, you have a fairly new (< 2 years) one.

  • MacBook Pro is not turning on and keeps beeping. Please help!!

My MacBook Pro 13" is not turning on. It keeps beeping three times then pauses and repeats. It froze earlier today and I had to force a shutdown. I've done this before and it's worked fine. How do I get it to work again??? Please help.

Three beeps at startup indicates that your RAM hasn't passed the integrity check and one of the modules is faulty.
