S201T touchscreen not working

Hello, My 2 month old Lenovo S210T's touch screen is NOT working.  While working in my laptop, I received a message saying there is a power surge in the USB and after that the touchscreen is not working.  However, some times when I am using the laptop while connected to AC, the touch screen works.  So I guess the problem is gotta do with the power for the touch screen.  I downloaded the latest Bios Version still no luck.  Any recommendations?

  • Cracked screen, touchscreen not working, need to backup. Help?

    Hola,
I dropped my iPhone 3G and broke the screen ... AGAIN ... in a comical addition to what has been a bad week of epic proportions.
Anyways, I have a passcode on the phone, but with the touchscreen not working, I can't enter it. Therefore I can't get iTunes to back up the phone. The screen is cracked but displays fine, but touch input is broken.
Is there any way to enter the passcode to iTunes and have it unlock the phone? Anything I can do at all? No MobileMe, not jailbroken, etc.
    Thanks.

Unless you can enter the passcode directly on the phone, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

  • HP Pavilion 14z-n200 Touchsmart CTO Notebook touchscreen not working after update

More than a month ago I updated my HP Pavilion 14z-n200 Touchsmart CTO Notebook and after the required restart I noticed that the touchscreen had stopped responding. I have searched the forums and found that other members of the HP Pavilion Touchsmart family had the same issues, but their solutions have not solved the problem with my specific PC. Any help would be great! Thanks

  • B14-178sa touchscreen not working

Hi there, I have been tearing my hair out these last few days trying to get the touch screen working on a TouchSmart b14-178sa.
The old screen was burnt out (you could see the damage to the touch sensors), so I replaced the screen with an identical model.
The old screen wasn't even showing in the device manager, the new one is showing, indicated by the red arrows in the following screenshot.
I thought Windows 8.1 might be the issue so I downgraded back to Windows 8 and installed all the software/drivers from the product support page.
I also installed all Windows updates, the touch did not work from start to finish.
I have tried the steps outlined on a support page here.
Pen and touch is not available in control panel.
Despite the touchscreen showing in device manager, system properties says no touch available.
I have tried the AUO firmware update, which tries for a few minutes then just exits and fails.
Here is a screenshot from the update:
Any suggestions you may have which might help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hp split x2 touchscreen not working while un-docking

hello hp support, i've recently bought a hp split x2 13-110dx. my touchscreen stops working whenever i detach the screen (tablet) from the keyboard (docking station). if i try to safely remove "Docking Station", first nothing happens and then after about 10 seconds all controls (touchscreen and touchpad) othen the keyboard itself stops responding. a reset allways solves this problem but that means that now i allways have to reset after every undocking. also, if the tablet is working fine, and i dock the tablet, again the touckscreen stops responding (again, reset required) i have done a hard (full) shutdown.i have installed all microsoft updates (i am running win8, not 8.1). what to do?sincerely, matan leilien

  • Ideapad touchscreen not working on upgrade to Windows 10

I  have an Ideapad Flex 15. Since I upgraded yesterday to Windows 10, I have lost the touchscreen ability I had up to that point on Windows 8.1. On search for pen and touch, I was given this message on a system information page: "No pen or touch input is available for this display." I have looked in device manager under Human Interface Devices. Expanding the view to show hidden devices, I see "HID compliant touch screen." When I click to get device status, this is the message: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." How do I do that? I note a similar problem in Windows 8.1 on this posting: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/touchscreen-not-working/c48cda23-93f2-4a9a-b6da-f7f47e67de0a Does anyone have any idea how to reconnect the hardware device -- or at least to solve this problem? Thanks!

I solved the problem here for my sister's Flex 14.

Mod's Edit: Added model to Subject line for clarity

I took this in to a shop, and two technicians tried to solve the problem to no avail. One of them did as suggested, and uninstalled the touchscreen driver under Mice and other devices, but that only disabled the mouse touchpad.  So it was reinstalled, and the driver for the touchscreen under Human Interface devices was reinstalled, but none of it helped, and I still lack the touchscreen capacity I had before.  I cannot scroll except on the side ribbon, and I cannot use the touchscreen to zoom in and out, which I could do on Windows 8 and 8.1.  So it seems there is no new Lenovo driver for the  IdeapadFlex 15 that is compatible with Windows 10.  I am told to wait and see, and to hope that Lenovo addresses this problem.  BTW, I previously had two Microsoft tech people remote control my computer to fix this, and they both failed.   I am disappointed with Microsoft and Lenovo.  Any computer that was bought within the last couple of years fitted with Windows 8 should upgrade no problem to Win 10.

  • Touchscreen not working on fresh Windows 8.1 install

I just bought a Pavilion 11-n040nb x360 and I'm planning to buy a few more for work, but I have a problem I wasn't able to fix so far.
On the OEM Operating System the touchscreen was working without a problem. I then installed an SSD-drive and created a new partition with a clean Windows 8.1 install. From the first startup the touchscreen isn't recognized by Windows.
The touchscreen itself is still working in BIOS/UEFI-setup and the diagnostic tool proves there's nothing wrong with the hardware itself.
I found a lot of posts from people with the same problem and tried really every tip, a lot of different drivers and software, but still can't get it to work.
    More usefull info:
    - HD Graphics 10.18.10.3366 driver installed and in use
    - Synaptics 18.0.4.81 driver installed and in use
    - Windows is up to date (no recommended or optional updates available)
    - Windows system screen shows the message 'pen or touch input is not available for this display'
    - No unknown devices in Windows device management (all drivers installed)
    - Looks a bit weird to me: in device management, next to the Synaptics PS/2 Port Clickpad, there is another device called "HID-mouse" with hardware ID HID\VID_0461&PID_4DF1&REV_0300&Col01 but I can't find any other drivers for it than the default Windows-driver, I'm thinking this might be the touchscreen hardware?
Any help on how I can get the touchscreen working on this clean Win 8.1 Pro install?!

    @Dennichio ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forum.  What may have happened with your install is that the chipset driver may not have been loaded first causing issues with the touchscreen driver.
Here is the link for your systems supported drivers.
HP Pavilion 11-n040nb x360 PC (ENERGY STAR) Drivers.
Once you have downloaded all your software and drivers for your notebook you will want to boot into safe mode and uninstall your drivers.
    Windows 8 Safe Mode
You may have to reboot between each uninstall.
once this is done then you will have to boot back into windows normally.
Now install your drivers again this time make sure you install the chipset drivers before anything ellse.
Please let me know how this goes for you.
Thank you again for posting and have a great day.

  • Iq504 touchscreen not working after reformat to windows 7 ultimate 64

i read the link that said load touchsmart app update first then clock then web cam etc.i did that and touchscreen still did not work does anyone know what im doing wrong?

    Hi asalamk,
The FN keys are controlled by Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. I think you have forgotten to install these tools
You should check the Toshiba page again and download both tools. Start with installation of Value Added Package then restart your notebook. After this install Flash Cards Support Utility. Once again restart and all FN keys should work properly now.

  • [SOLVED] Touchscreen not working

I have a generaltouch touchscreen, which was working in ubuntu 10.04. Now I'm trying to get it working in Arch, and it doesn't work. Symptoms are very interesting:
    1) mouse cursor doesn't move when I try using touchscreen, but button press and release events are processed correctly
    2) "lsusb" doesn't show device name, just vendor id: "Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1ddb:0001"
    3) "xinput" lists touchscreen as "HID TOUCH HID Touch Panel     id=10 [slave  pointer  (2)]" in virtual core pointer section
    4) "xinput test 10" correctly shows button press, release and motion events, all of which look quite sane
The most strange part is that although mouse cursor doesn't move, xinput test does show correct motion events. I feel that it could be easily fixed, but I cannot find config/manual to look into. Any help would be very welcome.

Hi. Thanks to your post i was able to solve mine.
If anyone is wondering, here's what i believe to be an explanation, based on third party sources and searching.
Symptom: touchscreen always clicks at the same place (e.g. top-left corner).
    1) the touchscreen manufacturer id (0x1ddb) and product id (0x1) are currently not into the usb vendors database (even after update-usbids)
    lsusb -v:
    Bus 002 Device 005: ID 1ddb:0001
    iManufacturer 1 HID TOUCH
    iProduct 2 HID Touch Panel
    2) as such, the kernel (through udev) tried to discover the nature of it blind folded (i'd be interested to know on what basis), and ends up thinking that's a tablet device (and not a touchscreen)
    dmesg:
[ 2.298156] usb 2-1.7: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5
    [ 2.391784] usb 2-1.7: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 2.394379] input: HID TOUCH HID Touch Panel as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.7/2-1.7:1.0/input/input7
    [ 2.394442] generic-usb 0003:1DDB:0001.0005: input,hiddev96,hidraw4: USB HID v1.01 Mouse [HID TOUCH HID Touch Panel] on usb-0000:00:1d.0-1.7/input0
    3) tablets (e.g. wacom) have 4 axis: X, Y, Z (because the pen can be detected when closing up to the surface, or somtimes will send out pressure information) and Rotary X (i would guess the angle of the pen)
    xinput list-props 12:
Device 'HID TOUCH HID Touch Panel':
    Axis Labels (271): "Abs X" (281), "Abs Y" (282), "Abs Z" (283), "Abs Rotary X" (284)
Button Labels (272): "Button Left" (143), "Button Middle" (144), "Button Right" (145), "Button Wheel Up" (146), "Button Wheel Down" (147)
    4) because the driver is generic, it fails associating the correct data to the correct axis; by testing the device (xinput test 12 -- where 12 is the id of the HID Touch Panel found through xinput list), you can see that it's actually putting the X and Y coordinates to the Z and Rotary X axis; and that's exactly why when touching the screen, the cursor will always go to the top left corner (0,0).
    xinput test 12:
    motion a[0]=0 a[1]=0 a[2]=668 a[3]=900
    motion a[0]=0 a[1]=0 a[2]=669 a[3]=912
    motion a[0]=0 a[1]=0 a[2]=672 a[3]=928
    a[0] and a[1] are obviously the 2 first axes X and Y, a[2] and a[3] the others (Z and Rotary X)
    5) now for the solution, what we want is force the usbhid kernel module to consider the device as a 2 axis touchscreen, not a tablet.
Given the large number of unknown/OEM/slightly differring USB devices out there, the Linux kernel already has some tweaks to force some behaviours, called quircks (list of quircks in hid.h), and there is one especially for this: HID_QUIRK_MULTI_INPUT. The hid.h file will give you the hex code for the quirck.
    Syntax is quirks=vendorid:productid:quirckhexcode
    modinfo usbhid
parm: quirks:Add/modify USB HID quirks by specifying quirks=vendorID:productID:quirks where vendorID, productID, and quirks are all in 0x-prefixed hex (array of charp)
You can set quircks either directly into the kernel like you did (into the hid blacklist), or at module loading time (modprobe usbhid quirks=1ddb:0x1:0x40), or at boot time by adding usbhid.quirks=0x1ddb:0x1:0x40 to the kernel boot line.
After rebooting/reloading, there is a new xinput device available (with the same name), but only 2 axes, and it works, and can be calibrated.
    However, i'd be curious about:
    * what exactly is the HID_QUIRK_MULTI_INPUT doing ? From third party sources, i think it will break the device into 2 devices, explaining why xinput -list shows a new device; i guess that the first one has X and Y, and the other Z and Rotary X
    * since the device does not actually have 4 axes, any way to remove/disable the 2nd device permanently ?
    * why did usbhid fallback to tablet mode ?
    * is forcing the use of quirks the right way to go inside the blacklist ? Shouldn't the new vendor id and product id be added to the product database, and set the device to touchscreen type, and not force by using quircks ?
    Thanks for any follow up...

Wow catycatsny! I want you to have a working phone. Are you still having trouble with the touch screen? Calibrating the screen http://bit.ly/WnJyWS is definitely one of the best things to try when the screen seems to have trouble recognizing where you're touching. Sometimes, removing and reinserting the battery http://bit.ly/VWhsEG may clear up the issue, or at least provide temporary relief until you can get through the calibration. Was the phone exposed to any liquid? Any physical damage? How long ago did you purchase the Extravert? Please share if you're still having trouble.

  • IPod touchscreen not working

My ipod touchscreen is not responding - I cannot slide it on or off. When this first happened I tried to reset, and then when my computer failed to recognize it I did a restore. It is still not working. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar tomorrow.
I think something happened when I downloaded a program on my computer that let me extract songs I had purchased on my iPod. I did this because I did not realize there was a button on the File menu in iTunes that would let me do this. So much for Google having all the answers. Whatever it did, I'm thinking it completely messed up things and I have no idea how to fix it. I am worried I will have to buy those songs again.
The restore seems to have worked, but the extracted songs did not go onto my iPod, and it's not coming on no matter what.
So - what can I do, other than pay for a consultation?

  • Hotshot Touchscreen not working?

In case your touch screen does not respond to your touch. "The touchscreen on my Pantech hotshot is not working. The phone is on and the screen turns on when I press the button, but it has no reaction to my fingertip. There is not reason that it should be reacting this way, because it hasn't been dropped or dunked in liquid or anything. It must be a technical malfunction"  If this happens turn off the phone. You will not be able to turn it off with the power button because it asks you for confirmation on your touchscreen, so you will have to remove the battery. Then stick it back in and turn on the phone. It should start working properly after that.

My touch screen doesn't seem to work when I am on another call or receiving a text message. It freezes up. Another thing, if I receive a call where I am prompted to push this number or that number while I'm doing the things I mentioned above, I can't do it because the keypad disappears & the backlight doesn't stay on long enough, even though I have set it to last 1 minute. As a result, I miss the call(s).
If you have a solution to this problem, I would appreciate it. Thanks
