S205 EasyCamera Issue

Hello everyone.
I'm currently facing EasyCamera problem. On my Lenovo S205 (WinXP Home SP3) I installed driver for camera, and it works fine. Same on http://www.testmycam.com, camera works.
The only problem I've got is that in EasyCamera SW there is shown nothing but a grey screen. Please, do you have any idea how to fix this problem?

Hi ,
if u use Windows XP SP3 , it could be necessary to install these 2 packages dotnetfx35.exe & directX9
Ideapad S205 as modern machine will work & install easier with windows 7 64bit

  • S205 Camera issue

Have a  S205 (win 7) a couple of days, but can't get the webcam to work.
None of the software like Youcam/Skype/Lenovo Veriface etc finds the camera.
I can enable/disable the camera using Fn/Esc and when I do so, it appears/disappears as it should under "device manager".
There are no applications running in task manager.
There is another forum user, having camera issues too, but the problem there seems to be "unknown harware".
My hardware seems fine in control panel, and shows "Lenovo Easycam" as working fine.
    Any ideas ?

  • S205 screen issues!

I have only had my S205 for about 2 weeks but i noticed strange flickering horizontal lines on the screen, so i updated to the latest display drivers for the netbook but it hasnt made any difference.
I have filmed what happens and put it on you tube i dont know if im allowed to link to my video, but it just shows what is happening. it starts around 11 seconds into the video but gets much clearer at around 40 seconds into the video.
the camera doesnt really pick the lines up very well but in real life it gets annoying whilst your surfing etc when the lines just appear.
any ideas of how to sort this?

Hi I would say it's fusion/braseros probem, because i first bought asus 1015bx with c60/6290
and it had integrated ram(no upgrade) so i sell it and bought s205 with e450/6320,
Both machines had the same issue under same conditions, in my case flickering was happening only when I quit
Counter Strike 1.6(some times) so after game, i also play warcraft lll, but never had problems after quiting game.
In my case it's not a big problem happends rare so i ignore it... dont know about you..
    Nice machine anyway

  • S205 Touchpad issue

    Hi,
The following is driving me mad. Every time (or every other time) I try and do a simple mouse manouvre i.e. move from one part of the screen to another, the cursor just adopts this whatever it is and pauses. I just want the mousepad to be a mousepad, nothing fancy just from A to B and simple clicks. Whatever this is I'd like to turn it off. I've tried fiddling with a couple of settings but I dont know too much about these and not sure which setting I should be looking for:
    Thanks if anyone can help.

    Hi Zach2k,
Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forums.  I hope I would be able to answer your question.
I tried to simulate the problem that you are having using an S205 unit that we have here available.  What you see here is the horizontal scroll option feature that is available under the Synaptics touchpad properties.
To access this you simply have to go to control panel and access the synaptics touchpad settings.  Listed below are the steps:
    1. Go to start then control panel.
    2. Under control panel look for hardware and sound -double click (View by: Category) then double click on mouse.
or Under control panel look for mouse -double click (View by: Large or Small Icons)
    3. Go to device settings tab, then hit settings, the properties of the Synaptics Touchpad should come up.
    4. Click on the plus sign in front of the scrolling section then click One Finger Scrolling, uncheck the enable horizontal scrolling then hit apply.
This should disable the horizontal scroll feature, that  allows you to scroll through a document horizontally, this also comes up with the icon that you have on your screenshot.  If in case you still would like to keep the horizontal scroll feature you can change the size of the scroll region, under the scrolling region.
Also try checking and playing around other items in this section as this would allow you to customize your touchpad according to your needs.
Hope I answered your question.  Enjoy your S205.

  • Lenovo S205 flash performance issue

    Hello All,
I have IdeaPad s205 netbook with e-450 onboard.
For some reason adobe flash video playback is extreamly laggy in all browsers except Internet Explorer.
What can be the reason of this and how this can be fixed?
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium SP1 (fresh install) + newest AMD Catalyst driver
Tested on browsers: IE8-IE10, Google Chrome, Firefox
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Ravenlord,
    Welcome to Lenovo Forums!
IE has an option to disable accelerated graphics and i believe that is on default.
Can you try, on your IE go to Tools>Internet options>under Advanced Tab there is a check box named "Accelerated Graphics" then try playing a video with a check on it (IE Restart Needed) then try playing without the check. If there is a difference on the playback,  I would say Re-Install Graphics Driver of your computer.  Download on this link
    AMD Graphics Driver
    IN1VDO65WW6.exe
    161 MB
Try reinstalling Adobe Flash as well from
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=ISMRZ
    Hope this helps.

  • S205 drive D: & DVD issues

    Hello,
Recently I started having issues with my Ideapad S205. I got a malware program that tried to force me to buy their software to remove it. In the process of trying to get rid of the problems it caused, I decided to use the Lenovo recovery key. The only option it gave me, was to go to the initial setup. Like a dummy I clicked on that and was taken back to day one. I subsequently found out that my back up partition did not work and I could not alter it so that it would work. I get constant error messages that I don't have enough room for a backup.
My other issue is that I purchased the Lenovo DVD/CD player, and it worked fine for a while. Now when I try to install software or load a music file, It won't proceed after the initial spin up and disk content window. The only thing I have been able to do with it, is to view a backup photo disk that I made some time ago.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Joe

    Hello Yigit,
I just hooked my Lenovo USB portable DVD burner model DB50, up to my Lenovo desktop and ripped a music CD (something it would not do with the Ideapad), and it worked fine.
As far as the D: drive, here is what it says when you go to the "manage windows backup space " folder.
    Data file backup      4.51GB
    System Image     15.38 GB
    Other files               1.60 GB
    Free space             7.51 GB
    Total size              29.00 GB
When I click on the "Change settings", I can click on "Let windows manage the space" or "Keep only the latest image", and it doesn't make any difference. If I "select a backup period to delete" it only shows the 4.51 GB data file as an option. I can click "refresh" and the next time it tries to do a backup, I'll get the same error message.
My gut feeling is that there are some corrupted driver files, but trying to find the right files on the Lenovo website to download is like trying to find a precise grain of sand on the beach, at least for me.
    Thanks for your assistance.

  • Wireless issue on Lenovo B570e2 with Atheros AR9285

    Hello,
I have just bought a Lenovo B570e2 with an Atheros AR9285 wireless card and have from now lost two days trying to make it work. Since it works perfectly with Windows 7, it doesn't seem to be an hardware issue. The card is recognized and the ath9k module is loaded, but I cannot see any wireless network, whilst Windows 7 detects more than 10 at the same location.

meop wrote:Have you tried with other tools? Networkmanager, Wicd? Are all the access points around you wireless N, or are some G? Sometimes Atheros chips have trouble communicating with other wireless N chips. I have experienced this on my router.
As far as iwlist doesn't detect any network, wpa_supplicant can't go further, and NM and Wicd are just wrapper tools for wpa_supplicant Wireless networks around are mixed b/g, no n capables.
I have also tried to connect to my network by using sscan_ssid=0, so that wpa_supplicant would try to connect to it but it didn't work.
meop wrote:This user posted a different issue recently, but at least he got the card working on Arch with Linux 3.6.2.. maybe you could message him?
Wow, quite strange, we indeed seem to have the same hardware and the same environnement, but not the same result, thanks for the tip!
meop wrote:The two solutions you tried were for a Ubuntu issue and a disconnect issue respectively, right? You could try loading a Live image of Ubuntu on your machine just to see if the card works on it, and then compare to Arch to see what settings or loaded module versions are different.
I forgot to add it to the "what I've tried" list, sorry. I have already tried to boot with a Live Cd of Ubuntu 12.10, 12.04 and even 9.10 (kernel 2.6.32)
Triby wrote:You have to put the interface up.  You have not described what steps you have taken to try to actually connect ... in fact it's not clear that u have taken any.  See the wireless wiki page and follow the manual connection steps.  Post the results/output of any failed step here.
EDIT: the interface "link" is up : <NO-CARRER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN mode DEFAULT qlen 1000, only protocol is DOWN
I don't usually use front end like NM or Wicd, here's what I've done :
    ip link set wlan0 up
    wpa_passphrase <my ssid> <my password> > /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
Then no result. As I wrote earlier, I've also added "sscan_ssid=0".
The problem is that "iwlist scan" does'nt get any result, meaning that my network card can't see wireless network around...
    Thanks for your responses.
    EDIT:
I may have found something interesting, while I try to play with iwconfig and iwlist, something happens frequently in my dmesg :

  • S205 :Sad with Lenovo Driver support for Win 8

Sorry for my bad english, but I need to tell you my frustrating experience.
Due to low cost new windows 8 OS 64bit, I buy a lincense for mine Lenovo S205, conforted with some new Driver updated for 8 on Lenovo site.
I saw something strange in the Driver's page for ex. the wireless driver is called Cybertan\LiteOn and we have a Ralink RT 3090 wifi module.(or in some market Atheros AR9285)... Hummm realy strange.
I cross my fingers, I pray god and I start downloadin ALL the driver and start upgrading my system.
At restart I have my new Win8 64bit system and thank of god the most important driver (Ralink wifi) was autodetected and recognized by Win8  whitout install the strange Cybertan\LiteOn from Lenovo that doubt was working in a ralink device.
But at this point strarts the big issues with the unrecognized devices, that tahnks of god were less than expected but drivers fron Lenovo site were all wrong !!!!! Yes wrong, it seems a joke but was the true,
I think,(to tell the true I'm sure) no one from Lenovo tech checked the drivers in a S205 models, and I can explain why with the above sad experience:
    - SOUND: windows only install generic HD drivers and the sound quality as expected was crappy. So I try the lenovo driver Conexant but it does not properly work, SmatAudio icon in the ControlPannel was not present, no conexant pannel to manage sound, and nothing changed, windows continue with is own generym Microsoft HD drivers. I remeber that Lenovo model U300S and U300E have the same soundcard I dowload their Conexant Win8 driver (with a different number so I hope it was teh latest) and my idea was great, the Conexant U300 driver works on my S205 lenovo and Win8 detect the conexant soundcard and SmartAudio is present and working. There is only a isse concerning SRS Sound that is present on my system but if I try to lounch nothing appens, so I think is not correctly working. But so far so god sound is better than before with generic MS drivers, but to do so I have to choose a different driver from a different Lenovo pc, not an easy step for a normal user.
    - OSD: on screen display (FN+F keys) in 7 they was insert in the Lenovo Energy Mnagement, so to works you need to instal it. I make the same in win 8 with the new Lenovo Energy Management provides by Lenovo site, Lenovo Energy Management is working but OSD no !!!!
Windows 8 detect and show you in autonomy soud level and brightnes when you press FN+Arrow keys ant that are the most important but ALL the FN+F Keys are not showed on screen even if probably they are working (for ex. Fn+F6 correctly enabel1disable touchpad) but not icon showen on screen !! Well I can leave without OSD but once again seems Lenovo don't try EnergyManagement on a Win8 pc.
    - CARD READER: Windows detect and unknow device called USB CRW and I though correctly was the card reader, in fact I try a sd and win8 was not able to read it. So I install the Realtek CardReader downloaded from Lenovo site, It was extracted and installed but I don't know why the driver seems bugged, the pattern contains only some icon but not exe ord driver, in fact the Card reader even if I try the driver more times it was not decetced. I tryed the old Windows 7 driver for my S205 and thank of god it was working and now my cardreader is detected and working. Once angain the win8 driver provided by Lenovo fails and I need the oldest win 7 driver that maks the job.
    - TOUCHPAD: Synaptics touchpad was detected by windows 8 but all the basic features as the scrolling or 2 fingers was not working. So I try the Synaptics drivers provided by Lenovo and it was only for 32bit system even if is clearly showed as 32 and 64bit driver. The driver itself promp me that is not working on a 64bit system and i need to contact the producer :-(
Hahahaha very hilarious so I have to download the driver from Synaptics server that is so slow that I need 2 hours to finaly have my touchpad driver. Once again an epic fail from lenovo site.
CONCLUSION: Lenovo is the new n.1 pc producer in the world but it seems realy not professional when check his drivers and public it on the website. Could be s205 is the cheapest and not business line notebook but ... I am realy sad whit the way Lenovo put new drivers without any preventive control in the homesite driver's page.
It seems it was a lottery, extracting a number and put the corresponding driver on the S205 drivers page :-(
Sir this is not the good behaviour, is the bast way to loose users !!!! Very disappointed, very sad and I hope this post can help S205 users taht want use the new Windows 8 system to catch the correct solutions
I hope too some Lenovo developers can read this, try win8 on a s205 notebook and solve all the problems, because even if I solve with my 20 years pc experience all the issue, still remais some problems as SRS Sound seems not working (if It can work on our system, but if it can't why put in on our s205 driver too) and no OSD for every FN keys working.
There are not present some utility for win 8 as for example the CAPSLOCK keys utility that was present for 7 but not for 8 (I have to try if the older work on 8) or the Lenovo OneKey that seems not ready for 8..
So far so good winodws 8 works great on S205 and is a good choice if you catch the correct drivers as I explain here.
Hoping this help Lenovo not making the same mistakes in the future, and learn from their errors.
Once angain sorry for my language mistake but I'm not English
Hore this post can help in some case
    Bye

    Hi Romagnolo1973!
Thank you for posting all the things you learned, and how you got your S205 working with Windows 8! Hopefully this will help others.
To be fair to Lenovo, they list Windows 8 as not supported on the S205.
    http://download.lenovo.com/express/WIN8-INDEX.html
As you found, it is sometimes possible to work around the problems and get things working to your satisfaction!
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

  • Lenovo Ideapad s205 ACPI Problem?

I have installed Arch linux in to subject notebook. Wile installing I skip efi support and boot with syslinux (not grub). This is first time I meet motherboard with efi support, so I'm not quite sure I have to reinstall distro. My installation works just fine except wifi and webcam. I switched off helibirnate and sleep timer in kde powermanager but I found wifi works extremly slow after half an hour (or less) inaktivity. Webcam dissapear also. Is there some kine of service that manages powersaving running with systemd or should I boot with full efi support?

I have the same problem with webcam. It works for nearly 20-30 mins after reboot and then /dev/video0 disappears. This appears in /var/log/messages.log during the system boot:

  • No Wireless with Windows 8 on S205 (Win7/8 drivers)

    Dear All,
I am a loyal lenovo customer and have been using lenovo for years now. Last year I purchased lenovo S205 which came with Win7 and  recently upgarded to Win8 but little did I know that after the upgarade I will have issues in its wifi as I have never had such a horrifing experience with my other mecahines.
I have done everything that is advised on this forum to get my wifi activated, after isntalling Win8 but in vain. Its my humbly request all the gurus to kindly give due attention in bailing me out, if possible.
Bless you & thanking you in anticipation.

    hi AnwarKhan,
Are you having problems detecting wifi networks? Is the wireless lan adapter installed under Device Manager but you can't detect any wifi networks when you press Fn+F5? If the answer is Yes, you problem might be similar to these articles:
Wireless card enabled but not connected after Win 8 Pro was installed
Wireless unable to switch on in Windows8
Can you try the solution that were posted on these articles.
    Let me know your findings
    Cheers

  • Lenovo U400 windows 7 home premium Bit disables easycam

I am having trouble opening up the easycam program. The integrated camera works, I know because I can skype with it, but I cannot open up the easycam program just to take pictures. It's recognized in device manager and I've un-installed/installed multiple times. I've read through the forum and I haven't found a solution. I called support and they can only recommend that I ship my laptop to them. Before I do that does anyone have any other suggestions.
    Thanks

  • Lenovo S205 & Windows 7 64bit. Problems with graphics, please help

    Hi,
    I recently bought a Lenovo s205:
    AMD E-350
It came with 1GB but I upgraded it to 4Gb RAM (1333 running at 1066)
    Windows 7 64 Ultimate.
I have tried also Windows 7 32 (Professional, ultimate) and all versions give me the same problem, I will explain here:
I have tried in AHCI mode and IDE mode from the bios and done fresh installs of Windows. Still the same.
After installing all the drivers, I get randomly in different programs "black" or sometimes "white" menus. Whenever I set the cursor on the menu (White or black part), the letters start showing up.
On Firefox for example, it happened where you write the address (Ex: www..) And when searching images too.
I have tried the original drivers that the Lenovo's website has for the S205 and the latest from Ati/AMD and nothing solves the problem.
What can this be? Faulty ram? Faulty OS? Problem with the graphic card drivers?
Please help, it is so frustrating.
    Thank you so much.

Thank you very much for your help.
I will try capturing some screenshots if that helps.
I can discard the problem with the ram at the moment. I have tried a new set of ram (two 2gb modules = 4gb in total). The problem persists, even when they are tried individually. I also tried the original ram module the Lenovo came with (1module of 1gb), alone. Problem persists too.
However, I do not have a problem trying the VGA output. Will this help too? As I do not have any screen with HDMI at the moment.
What I will do too, is to try a Windows 7 from another disc, a Home version 32 bit. I hope this can get the problem fixed.
The main issue is that I bought this computer from Germany (From a store on eBay) and came with DOS. I will have to return it to the seller, I assume, if the rest fails to show any improvements.
Thank you for your reply and any more suggestions are welcome.

  • S205 & Win8 - How to force legacy BIOS mode?

    Hi,
as far as I know the S205 has got two different interfaces:
    UEFI and legacy BIOS.
    Windows 8 supports both.
Using UEFI, Windows will partition the drive with GPT.
Using BIOS, it will be done with MBR.
The main problem is that - probably due to malfunctioning drivers - there are some major problems when using GPT with this netbook. You can find numerous threads about not working WiFi cards for instance.
What I'm looking for is an option to boot the Windows 8 installation through the BIOS interface from a thumb drive.
The S205 hasn't got an optical drive and I haven't got one either.
Thanks in advance for any help.
PS: As this is not a driver issue, I'm not posting this in the Windows 8 forum.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After doing some research, this is how to successfully use the Ralink Wifi with Windows 8 on the s205 - clean USB install.
You must install Windows 8 in legacy mode (choose "IDE" in the BIOS).
BUT - you must *also* remove "bootmgr.efi" and \efi\ from the USB, before you install. If you don't, the USB will still install in EFI!
If you already installed Windows 8 in IDE mode from USB, you must check if your install is IDE/legacy or EFI - open this log file:
    \Windows\Panther\setupact.log
    Look for this text:
    Callback_BootEnvironmentDetect: Detected boot environment: BIOS
    =you have IDE/legacy install
    ...or
    Callback_BootEnvironmentDetect: Detected boot environment: UEFI
    = you have EFI install
    (This information is from http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=209045)
If you see EFI/UEFI in the log file, you must reinstall Windows 8.
The only problem I have now is that Windows is freezing sometimes, so I plan to reinstall from a different USB in case of file corruption etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • [SOLVED] No sound on Lenovo S205

    Hey everyone,
I am fairly new to archlinux and linux in general (I've used Debian for about 6 months).
I just installed Arch on my Lenovo S205 and for some reason I cannot get the audio to work.
    $ lscpi | grep -i audio
00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Wrestler HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 6250/6310]
00:14.2 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) (rev 40)
I hope you can help me with this issue
    Thanks in advance
Edit: Randomly tried a solution and it worked by creating the '~/.asound.rc' and inserting:
    pcm.Generic { type hw; card Generic; }
    ctl.Generic { type hw; card Generic; }
    pcm.SB { type hw; card SB; }
    ctl.SB { type hw; card SB; }
    pcm. !default pcm.SB
    ctl. !default ctl.SB

Perhaps you could fix that by specifying your default sound device in ~/.asoundrc (or /etc/asound.conf to make it system-wide)
You'll probably have to experiment a bit on your own, but I'd try something like
    pcm.hdaAti {
    type hw
    card 1
    device 0
    pcm.!default pcm.hdaAti
    Merry Xmas BTW;)

  • Lenovo Ideapas s205 very hot - more than 65 C

    Hello, pals!
(First, please - excuse me for my bad english, it's not my native language)
I have a little problems with my s205 netbook - it's processor warming more than 65 C after 5 minutes of work. Just now, I start browser and open Speccy to control temperature:
Well, it's not a big deal, cause a notebook works stable, but it become (ii think so) slower and I worried about it "health". I don't check it's temperature before, so I don't know - maybe it's normal?
Some time before I hear strange metal noise inside it and decide check it. I found that small aluminium plate was a reason of that noise (on photo I've already stick it to some place that i think is right for that plate):

I found only one chip, that was not covered with other things, and think that it's a some kind of heatsink (there also was a little piece of gray gum - i think it's thermal grease or something like that). Well, i put them together and stick to the chip, cause not find any place to screw it to board.

Please, tell me - is there any problem with my notebook? It's fan is working, but I think it's overheatead.
I will be grateful for any help!
