S2110 Micro USB Port is too big

Hi,
Just received my S2110 without keyboard yesterday. I noticed a very important thing which no one has mentioned anywhere on the internet.
The Micro USB port (which is used for Dock as well as charging via adapter provided) is bigger than the Micro USB specifications. The USB charging cable is VERY LOOSE and charging is difficult as it keeps moving.
Anyone else felt that?

Actually, it "feels" about the same as my nexus 7. The cable that came with the s2110 feels a bit loose on both. I have other cables whichfeel OK on both. I do have to be careful not to let the connection bend. The micro USB was not designed to take a lot of stress.

Does the microUSB port on the KB of the S2110 allow communication with a PC through the supplied USB cable?  If so, how?   I want to view the internal and SD card memory.  My Android 4.2.2 phone communicates just fine with the cable, but not the S2210.

OK, I found it.  The KB Micro USB port is for charging only.  The Tablet must be removed form the KB and the microUSB docking port is active for comm with a PC.  Works fine now.

  • Micro USB port damage

I bought a Blackberry Curve 8520 6 months ago, which is under a year-long warranty, from Carphone Warehouse. A month ago, the Blackberry stopped being able to charge so I took it into the shop and the phone was inspected, and I was informed the phone would be fixed under the manufacturers warranty and returned within 2 weeks. Exactly 2 weeks later I was told to collect my phone as it was fixed and it had been returned UNFIXED as I was told the damage was NOT covered by the warranty, after being initially informed it was. What has happened is one of the prong inside the micro USB port has broken off so the phone won't charge. This has also happened to a friend of mine, so surely it is down to faulty materials? I don't understand why this is not covered by the warranty.
I was wondering if Blackberry themselves would be able to fix my phone (as Carphone Warehouse are refusing to, unless i pay £170 - more than the phone is worth. I have taken this up further with them but have constantly received poor customer service and am not willing to deal with them anymore).

I will definitely get back to them about this now.
Good...because those exact words are too generic...they need to provide you an email address, a specific website, or something else that gives you a specific path for escalation.
Given the nature of the contractual relationship that all parties are bound to (e.g., RIM, the carriers, the resellers, the service centers, and even the end users), it is actually very hard for end users to make any inquiries directly to RIM...the contractual relationship prevents RIM from providing simple access by end users since the contractual process that all are bound to is one of escalation from the resellers/service centers/carriers into RIM for cases they cannot resolve. End users going direct to RIM, without formal escalation, are bypassing the contractually required process...so it's not simple, and if the reseller/service center/carrier is recommending that their end user do so, they need to provide their end user with very specific instructions as to how to do so, since no "normal" facility exists for that (as bound by the contractual relationships).

I do have an receipt that they gave me after the initial assesment saying that is will be covered by the manufacturers warranty.
Excellent! You have a good case against them, it would seem! Assuming, of course, that the initial assessment is binding, and not overridden by subsequent assessments...your careful reading of all the words in the documents you have (looking for any "get out of jail free" clauses), including those you initially received when you bought your BB (since it should spell out the exact terms of your warranty coverage), will be crucial to knowing exactly how strong your case is.
    Good luck!

  • AT300se...can I connect to TV via the micro USB port?

Hi, I was wondering if I can connect to my TV using the micro USB port on the AT300SE model tablet. This version does not ahve the micro HMDi port so i was wondering if I could use an adapter to conenct to my TV via the micro USB? Thanks, Nikos

Looking at the specs, this tablet does not have HDMI.  So I see no way you can connect it to your TV.  Some of the newer TV's may be able so share your network to play files that are on your tablet.

  • USB port drawing too much power. The device that is plugged into it will be

I get this strange message every so often, sometimes more often than other times. It says:
USB port drawing too much power. The device that is plugged into it will be deactivated.
There are only two things plugged into the USB-The keyboard and mouse. When I get this message, the mouse freezes. If I jiggle the mouse cable where it is plugged into the USB, it comes back and everything is fine until this message comes up again.
Ever seen this before? What did you do?
    Thanks for your help.

Ahh I guess I could have figured that out by reading your hardware tag huh...
So it's giving you the message when booting up from a cold system with NO devices attached? (Not even the keyboard and mouse?).
How long before you get this message?
After you get this message, if you plug the mouse in to either USB port (As each port is a seperate bus), to clear the alert, and go into About this Mac, and More info, if you expand the USB info for each bus. Is there anything there that appears to be out the ordinary? (IE Only showing one bus, Showing a device plugged into a bus that isn't plugged in?)

  • Charging connection from tablet stuck in micro usb port

hello   this problem, that many appear to have, i need a response if anyone has found a solution to getting pictures off of the tablet.  Help Please

    Hey @kaussie ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand your tablet has the micro-USB cable stuck in the micro-USB port.
Does your tablet still have enough power to back up your data onto an micro-SD card? You can also transfer files via network storage with apps like ES File Manager, if you have a network drive or shared folder on your network. You can also use cloud storage options like Dropbox.
If your tablet does not boot up, the only recoverable data would be what is on the micro-SD card.
    Thanks.

  • Faulty Micro USB Port on my Playbook

The micro usb port is faulty and i have noticed the gold pins within the port are bent back and the charger fits loosely but no longer charges what can i do about this?

It probably comes under wear and tear, not covered by warranty, but you could ask.
If you know how to drag and drop files using wifi file sharing and if you lay out another £25 on a desk dock or rapid charger that uses the 3 pin magnetic charge port next to the usb, you will never need the usb again, except for the rare chance you may need to debrick it.
A repair will cost more than a new one these days of £120 playbooks.

Cause it is only charging by the micro usb port only. If I bring my device to the Nokia care Center, will they still accept it and do the repare? Even if it's not a Windows phone 8 OS?

as we are a user to user forum only for Nokia products and services, we cannot advise you here on the matter. you will need to liaise with your nearest Nokia Care outlet directly. as it is the last Symbian device released, i would expect you to at least have some luck with it. do keep us posted as to how you get on.

I ve upgraded my MBP to SL and since 3/4 days ago i ve been experiencing problems whit the USB port. A nice "error window" pop up saying that one or few USB port is driving too energy and therefor will be shut down. The error continued to pop again many times, sometimes 5 of this windows pops up simultaneously. Yesterday i took a decision (a big step) and reset my mac (after trying other solutions and check ups such as reset the parameter random access memory (PRAM) and nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) and hardware check ups). Been there done that. I ve decided to install first tiger and no error was shown, then i ve upgraded to leopard and again no error was shown... At last when i ve finally installed SL and reboot the system the first thing that showed up was was that nice error...At least this time it shouws up only at start up... I must conclude that there is a kind of bug in the SL system is there anyone that has an alternative solution to this annoying problem, apart from changing mac ....=D....?

    Marco,
Just to let you know you are not alone. I have a similar problem with my MacBook but the message does not seem to affect operation. It occurs when I plug in my USB speakers, but the speakers work just fine and the message does not reappear unless I unplug them and plug them in again. I chatted with a specialist at an Apple store and it was suggested that I make an appointment with a "genius". Because it does not appear to affect operation, I am inclined to wait and see if 10.6.2 changes this behavior.

  • How to do a security wipe if phone is stuck on start-up screen and your micro-usb port is also broken?

    Good day
A week or so ago, my  phone just out of the blue decided that it would not initiate fully anymore.  It was laying on charge and when i took it off after an hour or so, it just stuck on the service provider's screen before saying "loading personal settings".  I was informed that my os needed to be reinstalled, the problem is, my usb port ion my phone is also broken.  I took the phone in to a repair guy, but he wants to ask me an idiotic price to fix it and says he is able to do so without using my usb port?  Is there any way you can wipe your Blackberry 8520 and reinstall an O.S if your usb port on the phone is broken?  Please, this is a matter of life and death as there are a hell of a load of contacts, documents and emails i would like to save, but if not able to, I can handle that too, just need the phone to work, it's of the highest importance!
Thank you so much in advance.
    Juan

I take it that you do not have a recent back up of your phone's data?
Try starting your 8520 in Safe Mode.

If you can do that, you can get to the Security wipe function, but without a good USB port, I am not sure how you're going to load the OS. But try Safe Mode first.
