Is there a score database somewhere?

IPhone/ATV learning commands on remote

ATV recognizes the up, down, left and right learning commands but gives the "No Signal Received" error message on the ENTER command.
Have updated all software. I have removed and re-downloaded the remote app. Have reset both ATV and iPhone. Have unpaired.
I have been passed around Apple tech support all morning, no one has any answers. Just got email asking to let them know if I solve the problem.

i'm having a hard time understanding your post because i think you (like myself at 1st and many others) are a little confused about how the remote app works..
the remote app does not work like a logitech remote or a learning remote... in that it doesn't let you navigate around the appleTV graphical user interface (GUI) on screen. it by passes the the appleTV GUI completely. what it does, is let you see what's available to play on the appleTV (synced and streamed stuff) throught the remote app GUI. when you select the item on the iPhone, appleTV instantly plays it.. you don't go through the appleTV GUI at all. while the item is playing you can do ffwd, rwd, pause, next chapter etc.
1st, need to make sure that the iPhone and appleTV on the same network (your WiFi network).. you go on the iPhone, start the remote app, choose add a library, choose the appleTV, enter codes... then you see the appleTV's library (everything that's available through sync or stream).. find something.. click on it and it will play.

MIDI learn commands not working

I have a Kurzweil PC88 which I use as my controller. I would like to assign some MIDI keys to key commands. When I go into the key commands window and choose learn new assignment, the key I press on the keyboard is recognized and assigned to that key command. However, when I close the key command window, Logic does not respond to the key command from the MIDI controller. It doesn't work in Logic 8 or 9. Any ideas?

What exactly does your controller assignment look like? A screenshot of the Controller Assignments window would help tremendously.
Having said that, I do find it (the Learn function) to be unpredictable at times.
Having said that as well, if you press and release a key on your PC88, the message that is actually learned ( *Value Change* ) probably looks something like this:

That means that the function it is assigned to will only be performed if you both hit the key at velocity 56 (hex 38), and release it at release velocity 16 (hex 0F). Pretty tricky...
If this is so, what you have to do is simply open the CA window again without accessing learn mode (⌘-K) and in the *Value Change* box, select everything after *90 30*, and replace it with (space)Lo7, so the message reads *+90 30 Lo7+*, and you can hit C2 at any velocity now and the assigned command will be carried out.

Java app to save html source and copy to clipboard

I'm new to Java, and I'm doing a research paper which requires gathering data from the internet. I basically need to learn commands to create an app (which I will execute on a daily basis using Windows scheduler) to do the following task:
1. Access a specific URL
2. Save the HTML source as a text file
3. Copy some of the text in the saved text file to the clipboard in Windows
4. Paste this data in Excel
5. Run a macro in Excel to sort the data
I know enough VBA and Excel functions to parce the data, but if it is easier to use Java to sort the data into columns and rows in Excel, I would like to learn how to do that too.
I'm running Windows XP. My friend tells me to download Dr. Java to edit .java files and also the SDK to compile the files. He also told me to find modules from the internet which I can use, but I'm not sure how to go about it. (I tried searching on the net but didn't get the hits I wanted.)
Any help at this point would be much appreciated.

If your target html is so fancy and complicated(table cell contain another table) or the table miss some <tr> or <td> tags, dividing the table into rows and column can be a difficult task.
I recommend you choose the website with high download speed. Otherwise, you have to write more code to handle any loading failure.
I recommend you use httpunit to get webpage with Java program. (There is usually proxy server in University, you can config the parameter for proxy server in the Java program calling httpunit)

100% CPU! HALP! w/ Win 8.1 Pro infected by malicious content that reoccurs even after a factory restart. I've tried near everything malwarebytes, win defender, I'm still too new to effectively use MMC, or GPEDIT.MSC,

Some form of malicious content is assaulting my PC's registrys, drivers, along with portraying as other Users, and programs. It's a constant struggle to keep my property, authority, permission under my control over security ownership of my files etc. I
have seen PUP and PUM files in scans, I'm still learning the different forms of malicious content, but I have a feeling there's male-ware, root-kit, and ad-ware that I haven't Identified. Even though my network is private, haven't even created a home-group,
and all my remote access is turned off, but I haven't ruled out someone still being clever enough to access my system/network remotely. I've tried to keep my computer as secure as possible, multiple passwords, and two-step verification I thought I was going
off the deep end when I started to suspect my SYSTEM profile had been compromised. I can't tell if it's a phony, or actually my system taking away everything until I literally cant do a thing on my computer. I didn't want to remove any files that I shouldn't.

Is there an application that will allow me to control my iphone from my macbook?

i'd like to use my macbook to do all the setup and what not vs the small keyboard on screen. Maybe im a few years ahead of my self here but i've been a mac user since my apple se with 2 YES TWO FLOPPY DRIVES!!!!
i'll admit after we left OS9 i began to just use the mac rather than learn command prompts and all that Gooey stuff. OSX didnt turn me away from mac but it makes me feel less "Confident" when trying to make applications, fonts, systems and hardware play nicely. I'm that mac user that twist ties and neatly hides all wires and what not so you only see the laptop and the phone with a little mouse next to them.
Anyhow, if anyone presently has their new iPhone 4s connected to their Mac and can flip thru the actual phone via the CPU i'd love to know where to start!

CNA 5.5 and show mac address-table

When trying to Monitor/Search for MAC address in C2960 network I got an error reply that a CLI command is not supported. Analyzing network traffic shows that CNA 5.5 is issueing 'show mac-address-table' command but the latest Cisco IOS Software, C2960 Software (C2960-LANBASEK9-M), Version 12.2(55)SE does not support 'show mac-address-table' anymore but does support 'show mac address-table' command. How can I change the command for showing mac address tables in CNA 5.5?

the show mac-address-table command should be valid.
check if you've got MAC learning enabled on the ASA interface using show mac-learn command.
edit: could you post show firewall? the above command works on transparent firewall only.

How do I get the Korg NanoKontrol to work with Logic Studio?

I just bought a Korg NanoKontrol control surface to use with Logic Studio but it isn't working right. I can get the faders and pan to work in one scene but the transport controls don't work in any scene. If anyone knows anything about how to get it to work please let me know.

Anyway, if you loose settings minutes after they worked, I would say the hardware may be shaky. Or the cabling. Or the operators' skills.
Ambient8 has gracefully and concisely pointed the way, and if something is not working just describe what and how it is, instead of complaining (on somebody else's thread) to people who voluntarily try to offer help & solutions.

Clean Install or keep messing up with old system.

Hi,
I have been learning about Arch for a while - mostly trying different things and learning commands and how it works. In this learning process, I install a lot of things that may not be required in long run or make system more resource intensive or just cluttered. If you have been in such a situation, Is it a good idea to start afresh or keep messing up old system and clean install should be last resort? I often find clean install a lot easier to fix but it does require some time to re install all the system back.

There shouldn't be a need to reinstall.
If you're not already familiar with all of pacman's bells and whistles now is a good time to learn. There are various switches that will list packages that are no longer needed (eg, installed as a dependency to a package that is now gone).
Not long ago I went though the full list of all packages installed to do some housecleaning. It took a little bit of effort, but I ended up learning more about what was on my system. I learned even more when I removed something that I guess I needed!

How do I 'invert drawbars' in control surfaces?? Korg NanoKontrol & VB3

I've set up my Korg nanokontrol with VB3 organ, and all is OK apart from the drawbars are inverted. (When I pull the fader down the drawbar decreases in volume rather than the other way around). Is there something to select to 'Flip' this action.
There is actually a setting on VB3 but it's not changing in Logic.
Any ideas?

Show mac-address-table not working on ASA5512

I'm unable to excute "show mac-address-table" on an ASA5512, running 9.1(1). The output is:
asa-test# show mac-address-table

ERROR: % Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
Has the command changed for this model / version? It works fine on ASA5505's running 8.4(5).

Can somebody help me to understand/use MacPort patch files in terminal?!?

Hello everyone,   NOTE: I'm still trying to familiarize myself with mac terminal as I recently made the switch from Windows.
While I was searching online instructions for installing qt4-mac on 10.9 Mavericks I came accross thed macports ticket page for qt4-mac and I noticed that a lot of people are posting "patches" to download/apply so that it will work properly. I've successfully downloaded qt4-mac without having to download/apply patches manually, however I would like to know how to do it for future reference and bc I enjoy learning how to do new things.
The MacPort Patch guide provided basic instructions, but I am looking for some clarification on a few things. You don't have to answer every question any contribution is appreciated! Here are my main questions:
1. "create a unified diff patch file"   EXAMPLE: diff -u src/Makefile.in.orig src/Makefile.in > patch-src-Makefile.in.diff
What exactly is a unified diff patch file and it's purpose?
2. "Place the patch patch-src-Makefile.in.diff in the directory ${portpath}/files and use it in a port using the patchfiles keyword.${portpath} may be in a local Portfile repository during development, or files/ may be in a port's ${portpath} in the global MacPorts repository."   EXAMPLE: patchfiles patch-src-Makefile.in.diff    If fixing a particular problem or bug requires changes in multiple files -in those cases the patch filename should reference the problem or bug, for example: patch-<destroot_variable_fix>.diff
One of the patches listed on the macports ticket page is this: patch-src_corelib_global_qglobal.h.diffWould this be and example of "fixing a particular problem" using the syntax patch-<destroot_variable_fix>.diff???
3. I hope this isn't a dumb question, but How exactly do you download the patch file??
Example: On the macports ticket page one of the patches to download is:
   patch-src_3rdparty_clucene_src_CLucene_search_FieldCacheImpl.cpp.diff
When I click on the link for that specific patch it takes me to this page. I feel stupid for asking but how exactly do I download the patch?? Am I supposed to copy that the code from this page and paste it into terminal? Or is there a link or something else that I am not seeing?

Hmmm...I'm not sure why tcpreplay required a patch for me but it didn't work until I applied the patch. Oh well, it's working now so I'll leave it at that.
I agree that learning isn't easy, I know it will take a substantial amount of effort and practice working with OS X terminal before I reach the same comfort level I have with Windows. I haden't taken into consideration the amount of time it actually took me to get where I'm at now using windows. I suppose I just disregarded the time/effort I put into learning command prompt...now that I'm actually thinking about it; it took me several years.
For the most part the transition to terminal hasn't been all that difficult; having a strong understanding of the concepts makes it a lot easier, now it's just a matter of knowing the actual commands to use. For the purpose of my work I mainly stick to network troubleshooting, configuration, and admin commands and some scripting. BC I already know the windows command I usually only have to lookup the OS X equivelant or a close second that will get the job done.
Every now and then I do venture off into unfamiliar territory with command line, as was the case today. Now that I've read up on patch/diff commands I see that they are fairly basic; this just happened to be my first encounter with patches using macports so it was all somewhat new.
Thanks for the advice on building my own packeges rather than relying on macports, that will definitely give me a more in depth understanding of OS X terminal aside from my current strongpoints. Terminal and command prompt are so vastly different that I can be strong in many different aspects of command prompt, but a complete beginner with any terminal commands that deviate from the networking commands.
But if I want to skillful in all aspects I have to put in the time and effort, thanks for the help and advice. If you have anymore advice I'm all ears, otherwise thank you and take care!

Logic's Amplitube Plugin Won't Recieve MIDI Signals

I have gone through everything. I have an Behringer FCB1010 which works with MainStage 2, Amplitube 3, and everything. I even have it working with Logic's pan, volume, and pedalboard. Pretty impressive stuff!
Here's the problem. I want to be able to control Ampltiube 3 with my footpedal as a plugin, but it will only work as a standalone. As soon as I click "learn" in the plugin, no matter what button I press on my board, it won't learn it. I also cannot get a learn command going in "Controller Assignments."
What is wrong here? Am I missing some sort of setup in Logic to get this to work? Has anybody been able to control Amplitube as plugin with anything? Any help would be appreciated.

18 hours later I figured it out. It turns out that you have to your 3rd Party plug-ins in the "Controls" window rather than the graphical window in order to program each control. You could program it in the graphical unit, but you won't be able to see your controls working. You can only see that in the basic window. Either way, you have to learn each function through "Control Assignments" and through the plugin's learn mode.
I do find it a shame you cannot view third party plugins in a graphical mode, but then again I am not surprise as I've had some graphic window issues before with other plugins. Apple advisors have said that is a con when working with plugins in Logic, functional but not perfect.
Anyways, the problem is solved and hopefully I save somebody the from their painstaking quest of finding out why their program isn't working.

Logic keeps losing controller assignments???

I have an Axiom 49 with it's transport buttons assigned to various logic functions. I have assigned these in the key command section by "learn new assignment" Every so often these commands stop working altogether as if Logic "forgets" them. When I look at the learned command line it still shows the assignment but it isn't until I "relearn" the exact same assignment that it works again. This is extremely frustrating. Does anyone know why this happens and if there is a workaround? Thanks.

The CA (Controller Assignments) are "Pre", regarding the Logic Physical Input in Click & Ports layer, so this will not solve the "Input Floating Ports" problem I guess... I think a little tip using IAC bus can work cause once IAC is activated it is a MAC constant virtual port.
*The IAC Tip*
1. Cut the "Sum" cable from the Physical Input and cable the IAC (Bus1) port to the Monitor object (1) - see the pic below. You can name the Monitor (IAC Bus1 IN) etc.
2. Cable all physical ports to the "Sum Physical Ports" Monitor object (2).

4. Create a new Fader in the Environment and cable it to the IAC Instrument as shown (4).
5. Move the fader of your external controller you plan to learn to see what is its CC# and channel# in the "Sum Physical Ports" Monitor. (You can skip this step if you are familiar with the physical fader/knob hardware CC assignment previously).
6. Select the virtual fader (4) labeled as "Temp Learn" in the environment and set its output CC definition number and midi channel to match your external controller you plan to learn in the inspector.
7. Save your new midi setup as a Logic template song.
8. Press (Command+K) to open the Logic CA expert dialog. Do the standard "learn" procedure to learn any channel strip or plugin parameter but instead of moving the external controller fader/knob you must move the virtual environment fader labeled as "Temp Learn" (4). This way Logic CA will be learned from the IAC bus (you will see that in the CA expert dialog). After this "Dummy" learn process you can tweak the physical controller - done!
The method must solve the "Input Floating Ports" problem cause all CA assignments will be learned from the IAC port which is constant (non-floating until you may decide to switch it OFF in the Mac AMS).
The other good side is if you decide to move your Logic Preference file ( i.e CA) to another machine - all assignments must work this way ( I did not try yet but in theory it must work ).
Another advantage is that you can patch lots of interesting "Transformer Gears" between the "Sum Physical Ports" Monitor (2) and the Instrument IAC port (3). In other words you can use the Logic Environment as an advanced "MIDI JUNCTION" engine serving its midi processing to other apps, CA etc...

OK the appauling mess that is Harmony

Please not I have read every thread with harmony in the text.
I have a harmony remote and to be frank this is one area apple should look at conquoring. The remote is fiddly with poor buttons, but this is forgivable because of what it needs to achieve,
What is not forgivable is the mess of a bit of software Logitech put out. They should be ashamed. Apart frot he fact a simple task seems to take four hundred and eighty mouse clicks, the thing constantly crashes and the most annoying part is the learning remote commands. If for instance you try and skip one, crash, no more worky.
Any how I digress. I have also noticed that their data base which must also be an appaling mess does not appear to have any working appleTV commands.
This led me to learn my own. This works to an extent. All buttons work scrolling down is fine, but scrolling up is one painful click after another. No changes to speeds on commands works or anything.
I'll be honest I resent spending literally hours trying to get a crap remote to work. Can any one recommend anything else which is actually better?
Oh and any ideas how to fix my issue with the remote.

Sorry you're having such problems with your Harmony (you don't specify your model, I have a 688).
My Harmony works fine with ATV (including the scrolling), and most other people who talked about it on the forum seem to be alright too. I set mine up selecting the MacMini from their database and modifiying it according to some post here (especially the delay times), but meanwhile they should have a working AppleTV set of data. The only weak point I noticed is entering letters for passwords or searches - it sometimes skips a letter, so I go back to the Apple remote when I have to type, which is rarely.
I also found the setup of tasks very easy and transparent, and the software never crashed on my Mac. Also, you shouldn't have to learn commands, that's the whole idea of the Harmony, if your device is in their database.
One word about the database: It's completely user-generated, since the manufacturers don't provide them with their codes. The staff does only housekeeping tasks and resolving errors, so yes, it sometimes isn't perfect, and that's also the reason why it took some time for the ATV to be in the list - someone had to be the first to enter the data.
But overall - it's not true that the Harmony doesn't work with ATV, you must be doing something wrong.
