SA520W Optional WAN Port PPPoe fails to connect

Hello,
I am trying to connect a SA520W optional/secondary port to the Inet. ANd it always gives me this error:
pppoeMgmtDBUpdateHandler: error in executing database update handler
Component: PLATFORM
AND
pppoeMgmtTblHandler: pppoe enable failed
Component: PLATFORM
I have no idea how to resolve this.
Updated to actual firmware - same result.
Help is highly appreciated.
Ben

  • SA520W Optional WAN port problem

    Hello,
I have a problem to configure the optional wan on my SA520W.
We have 2 connexions (Cable and ADSL), when I set the primary wan with the Cable there are no problems. When I set the primary wan with the ADSL there are no problems. But when I set the Cable on the primary wan, and the ADSL on the optional wan, primary wan works, but optional wan doesn't. Leds are green, link state is UP, but wan state is DOWN.

    Graham,
To use both WAN ports at the same time, browse to Networking-> Optional Port-> WAN Mode. Select Load Balancing so that all traffic will be balanced between the two WAN ports. The other modes only allow a single WAN port to be connected at one time.

  • SA520W Optional Wan Conncection Slow after Rollover

I am having an issue with the SA520W. I have Auto Failover set and when I test it, after it rollsover to the optional wan port the isp conncection that is conncected to it is limited to 1.41mbs down and 400k up.
If I conncect the isp modem directly to my pc it hits the full 6mbs down and 1mbs up.
The ISP that is conncect on the wan port works fine and I get the full speed out of that port. I called the ISP and tested it with them and we get a good full speed conncection.
I have updated to the latest firmware for the router.
Anyone have this issue and corrected it or knows how? Let me know
    Thanks
    Rick

Have you tried switching the WAN and optional WAN ports around?  If so, did the issue follow the ISP, port, or did the issue go away all together?  We have used the optional WAN port for load balancing, as well as, for failover with no issues.  Cable modem on WAN port and DSL modem on optional WAN port.

  • My AirPort Extreme tells me , that I have a private IP address on it's Ethernet WAN port. It is connected to a device or network that is using NAT. How do I fix this?

I'm having problems with my AirPort Extreme , it's saying that I have a private IP and that I need a DNS. Can any one help me

Configure the AirPort Extreme to operate in Bridge Mode.
    Open AirPort Utility
Click on the Airport Extreme, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the window
Change the setting for Router Mode to "Off (Bridge Mode)"
Click Update to save the new settings

  • Windows 7 RC turns off the Fios MI424WR (Rev E) Coax WAN port (and can't turn it back on)

Windows 7 RC (and probably Visa) displays the Fios router as an Icon when you open the Network Icon.  If you right-click the Fios router you get a menu which contains "disable".  If you select "disable", the Fios router does exactly that and your Internet Connection will be down.
So, the obvious thing to do is "enable" from the same menu, right?  Well, in my experience, when you select the "enable", the Fios router turns on the Ethernet WAN port.  Which is fine if your router is connected to your ONT via ethernet.  Unfortunately, the most common way Verizon connects their router to the ONT is via Coax!
You can easily fix this by logging onto the Fios router and re-enable the Coax WAN port  via Main / Network Connections / Broadband Connection (Coax).  However, I have not found a way to re-enable the Coax Wan port from within Windows 7.
I don't know if the bug is in the Fios router or in Windows 7 RC, but I bet I'm not the only one that has experienced this problem.  The first time it happened, the Verizon tech told me to press the reset button on the router.  This fixed the problem, but wipped out all my custom settings.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?

    *Putting on more pressure*
What this thread is about is, the least of your problems...
#1 If UPnP in on in the router, with an UPnP aware client users can open ports in the router without ever being asked for the user name and password of the router.
And keep in mind: YOU are responsible for the traffic that flows over that router. This is no matter to take lightly. For example if someone is on your network downloading/uploading songs (uTorrent one of many UPnP aware apps). The RIAA goes after your ISP, because it came from their network. Then ISP comes after you, because it came from your network.
Depending on how good this/these people are, good luck finding that person (or people)....
#2 There is a rule of how to forward ports in your router to allow users to connect to you. "Once you've forwarded a Port to ONE IP address, you CAN NOT use it with any other IP address."
But with most routers about UPnP, all you know about UPnP it is either On or Off (You have no idea of what ports are being forwarded to an IP Address).
So, I have to wonder how you will avoid over lapping ports.
    #3 At http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid14_gci863906,00.html
They talk about Improving performance and security by disabling unneeded services, and they point http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
Then at http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm they say that UPnP is an unneeded service.

  • WAN port inop and PM ethernet port inop - options to connect to AEBS?

Hi. We had a thunderestorm last week at home and we shut everything down and unplugged the power cords, but I think the cable to the cable modem fried some of my ports. I have a cable modem hooked to the WAN AEBS port and a cable from the LAN AEBS port to the ethernet port of my PM G4 867 (Quicksilver). After lots of troubleshooting with a different cable modem and my PB 15, it seems that the AEBS WAN port is dead and the ethernet port of the cable modem AND PM G4 are toast!!:( I guess all three got fried thru the cable.
I have a different cable modem that runs my digital phone so I connect thru it's ethernet port (after provisioning it). It works with my PBs directly and my airport express. I went to the Apple store and they confirmed the WAN was inop. Got a new AEBS. Now, here's my question:
I connect my PBs thru airport, but used the LAN to directly connect to the PM G4. The ethernet port is dead too. What should I do to get the PM connected?
I think the PM G4 quicksilver can accept an airport card (older kind). I can get one for around $100.
Is it easy to replace the ethernet card/port on this model? How much?
What's the best solution? What would you do? Thanks for your help.

I think the PM G4 quicksilver can accept an airport card (older kind). I can get one for around $100.
Yes the QuickSilver has an internal slot for the original 802.11b AirPort card. That slot is NOT compatible with the AirPort Extreme card.
Is it easy to replace the ethernet card/port on this model? How much?
There is no separate Ethernet card. The Ethernet port is built into the motherboard.
If you want Ethernet, the least expensive solution is a compatible PCI Ethernet card.

  • SA520W does not get IP on optional WAN

We are using a SA520W as our primary router and have a fiber connection attached to the default WAN interface. We would like to improve our uptime using a secondary internet connection on the optional WAN interface.
We have bought a dovado tiny 4g router for this other connection. It acts as a dhcp server but the Cisco router does not get an IP from the dovado router. The router works as expected when connected to a normal computer. But somehow the cisco router doesnt get an IP.
I have also tried to set a static IP for the Cisco router but that didn't help either. The dovado router is setup do deliver ip in the range 192.168.0.2-254
Link is up but WAN state is Down. Any ideas?

    Hello Christian,
What is the port configuration settings, set to 10/100/1000 Half or Full. If Auto try manually changing. Also you can try to clone the mac address, or set the mdi/mdix settings on the G4 router if possible.

  • RVS 4000-V2: PPPoE failed - "unrecognized option '1492'

I've got a brand new RVS 4000-V2 router (firmware: Release 2.0.0.3)
Can't get a connection to my ISP using  "Internet Connection Type" PPPoE.   The connection works fine with any other router.
MTU size is set to "auto".
    Logfile says:
    Plugin pppoe loaded
    PPPoE Plugin Initialized
    Plugin pppoe called.
    unrecognized option '1492'
I use the standard Web-administration client.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    for the reply.
In the meanwhile I've tried it with another DSL-Modem - same effect: No connect to the Internet-Provided
    ,    "unregognized option '1492'" in den Log-File.
I have no problems with the Internet Connection using a differend router from another brand with both of the modems (Siemens Plus or D-Link DSL 321B).
I have attached a screenshot of the WAN settings as requested.   I tried both the auto and the manual mode. No success.
If you give me directions how to trace the WAN Port with your router, I would do so.
    Best regards

  • WAN port limited to 10mbps on PPPoE

    Hello,
I'm having trouble with the WAN port on my Airport Extreme. I got FTTC (fibre) coming into a VDSL2+ modem. When I connect my Mac directly to that I get roughly 70mbps download speed. But when using the Airport Extreme my connection caps at 10mbps! I have the 3rd generation, so all ports should be gigabit ethernet ports.
I saw some other posts here suggesting to set the WAN port settings in Airport Utility. I can't find those in the latest utility, so downloaded Airport Utility 5.6, changed from PPPoE to Ethernet, set the WAN speed to 1000 duplex and set it back to PPPoE. Now it refused to connect at all and claimed the cable was unplugged. Not until I went in and set Ethernet to "automatic" did it connect again via PPPoE. So it seems that my Airport Extreme refuses to use a faster ethernet connection than 10mbps when using PPPoE.
Any solution to this? There clearly is something wrong here! I contacted my ISP and they said that they have reports from other users of the Airport Extreme with the same problem.

You didn't mention this, but it could be as simple your cable from the modem to the router. If you are using a Cat5 Ethernet cable, you need to be using a Cat5e or Cat6 cable. I use Cat6 cables on my network because they are certified to run at Gigabit speeds. Cat5e is not certified but can work on a Gigabit network.
Also, when you direct connect your Mac to the AEBS you should be getting download speeds well over 100 Mbps, depending upon your system provider and what speed you're paying for. This leads me to believe it's the cable.

  • WAN port configuration SA520w

We switched to another internet provider and have problem with our SA520w and a slow WAN connection on av fibre connection.
We have confirmed that we need to set/ force the WAN port interface on the router to use 10base-t (Full duplex) in order to get maxium speed from our Internet provider. Is there any solution force the router to use that settings as I cant find that alternative on the port setting page in router configuration?
    Latest firmware installed
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can change speed and duplex settings at Networking->Port Management -> Port Management.
    Thanks,

  • Nothing is connected to the ethernet WAN port

I have a 5th generation AEBS and FTTH. When I plug it into the wall, it reports that nothing is connected to the ethernet WAN port, but if I plug my MBP into the wall I get an IP address and can hit the Internet just fine.
I called tech support and they said that everything looks great from their end, and that there is nothing that they can do.
What I have found is that if I plug the cable from the wall into a gigabit switch, and then plug the AEBS into the switch, everything works fine!
Any idea what can be going on? TIA!

This is increasingly a problem.. the AEBS is not actually negoiating the speed correctly with the ONT supplied by the ISP.. it happens a lot with cable modems as well.
Using the switch allows the two devices to negoiate speed correctly.
You can do the same thing with old utility..
Install 5.6 utility on your computer. Here is a method.. there are others.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.
Now with a real utility instead of the toyland edition you can do something about the WAN speed.
Set to either 100mbit full duplex .. that would be my first option.. and second is 100mbit half duplex.
Another alternative just popped up.. buy a crossover ethernet cable.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23236139?ac_cid=tw123456#23236139
These cables are no longer required with modern equipment but you will find stores still stock them. For some strange reason.. in the one case reported that worked.. this indicates that the TC has some fundamental port issues.. and the mdix is not working correctly which is why the switch or manually setting port speed does.

  • I am unable to set up my new Time Capsule with my BT Home Hub - every time i connect the ethernet cable from Wan port to Home Hub, the internet signal drops

    Hi there -
I've just purchased a new Time Capsule, and would like to set up a small home network with my Laptop, iMac and wireless printer. I'm following the first steps, but as soon as I connect an ethernet cable between the WAN port of the TC and the ethernet port of the HH, my BT internet connection drops out and I have to restart the HH. Upon which point it drops out again. The airport utility can see my TC, and gets as far as me typing in the new network name and setting up a password, but then it can't quite get through to the next stage. All the time it's just flashing amber.
    Please help!

Setup the TC in bridge mode before you cannot it to the HH.
Simply do the setup fully in isolation. And do it by ethernet.
Setup wireless to create a wireless network.
You can use either same SSID =Wireless name as the HH .. same security same password.
Or use a different name and setup.. totally up to you.
Update the TC and then plug it into the HH by ethernet.

  • I have Fios. I have the TC connected via ethernet to the Fios router. TC WAN port ethernet to Fios Lan port. Then I just have the TC create a wireless network that is different than the Fios wireless network. How do I set up an Airport Extreme to the TC?

The Airport Extreme is a 4th Gen unit. I just want to keep the TC wireless name to go further through my house.

The Ethernet connection will be from one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the AirPort Extreme.
Then you can use AirPort Utility - Manual Setup to configure the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Click the Wireless tab located just below the row of icons
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network (Not "extend a wireless network" as many users incorrectly think)
Wireless Network Name = Same name as your TC network
No check mark needed next to "Allow this network to be extended"
    Radio Mode = Automatic
    Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Same setting as the TC network
Wireless Password = Same setting as the TC network
    Confirm Password
    Click the Internet icon
    Click the Internet Connection tab
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and restart the entire network
Computers on the TC network will now be able to move to the area where the AirPort Extreme is located and not have to "switch" networks. This is known as a "roaming" network.

  • JDeveloper fails to connect after enabling SSL Listen Port

    Hi,
When I activate SSL on port 8002 (SSL Listen Port Enabled) for my soa_server in weblogic console, JDeveloper fails to connect to the server when deploying.
Soa server lookup takes a long time an ends in an error failed to connect to <server>:8002
When I turn off SSL JDev can find the SOA server again.
I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 and SOA Suite 11.1.1.4
What can I do about this?
    Groeten,
    HJH

Here's the top 3 causes for this:
    (1) make sure the database listener is running on the server with the database.
    (2) make sure the connection information that JDeveloper is using is correct.
    (3) remember that JDeveloper uses the SID and not the service name.
