SA60-742 and Wireless LAN

Hi
I was told when I bought this that it had support for wireless LAN, but to me it seems that there is no such built in functionality. Am I correct?
No button to turn on/off the wireless function, and no trace of such communication in control panel.

Hi
I am sure that your notebook supported wireless card. First of all you must be sure do you have one or not. Please check in device manager under Network adapters if there is wireless card listed. If not you must buy one. In your case it can be some Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card or you can buy PCMCIA Wireless card and use it in PC Card slot.
Both solutions are ok but the second one is maybe easier because Mini PC Card must be build in on right place and it is necessary to open the notebook cover.

  • 802.1x Authentication on Wired and Wireless LAN

I have successfully configured 802.1x authentication on wired and wireless Lan. We have Cisco Switches, ACS SE and Windows AD.
But i have one issue regarding the Single Sign on while authentication using the 802.1x with Windows Active directory the users that are login first time not able to logon but the users that have their profiles already existed in their PC then there is no issue and they successfully authenticated and login easily.
Is there any way of login successfully for the users first time using 802.1x authentication with Windows AD like a Single Sign On?

We ran into the same situation from time to time. We implemented 802.1x authentication using the Cisco Secure Services Client (SSC) on the windows hosts.
At the beginning we were completly unable to logon on the maschines where no locally stored windows profile exists. After change to timeout to authenticate at the network in the SSC options we are able to logon to the network and also be authenticated by the domain controller.
Sadly this works out often as a timing issue. Most times the user needs to try a couple of times. At the moment, I'm also very interessted in a good way to avoid this (as it seems to be) racecondition.
Hope that someone else has any clue?

  • Inline Posture between Cisco ISE and Wireless LAN Controller

    Hi,
I was looking into Cisco ISE solution for deploying NAC.
I have a question about the network topology.
In  the user guide documents of cisco ISE, it is written that for Wireless  LAN Controllers (WLC) and VPN devices, an additional server, Inline Posture, is needed.
However, in the following integration document, there is not an inline posture between WLC and Cisco ISE server.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-18121
I  want to know if Inline Posture is a requirement, if not a  requirement, what are the benefits of having it between Cisco ISE Server  and WLC.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Incompatible Config Free and Wireless LAN driver/manager

    Hi,
The *ConfigFree 5.90.05AB*, available in the Satellite MCE A100-498 download drivers area, is incompatible with the wireless lan manager *Intel PROSet Utility 12.4.0.0.3* (driver *Intel PRO/Wireless 3945/4965/5100/5300 12.4.0.21.1*), also available in the same place.
When both installed, the *Conectivity Doctor* and *Profiles* tool returns the error "+cfmain.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience+".
Is there any other version of ConfigFree that works with this wireless lan driver/manager version? Will Toshiba release another ConfigFree version?
    Best regards,
    FilipeSilva

You can install what you want but please follow the exact installations order .
    It is very important.
All offered drivers, tools and utilities are tested and I cannot imagine Toshiba will offer some new version for 3 years old notebooks.

  • MAIL and Wireless LAN

I've put together a basic, two computer (Mac Mini Duo Core and Powerbook G4 both running 10.4.6), wireless LAN. The G4 serves as the base station and is connected to the internet via a DSL modem. I have wep security enabled 128 asccii password. I have web sharing enabled on the base station but not on the satelite (Mac Mini). I have an email account through att-yahoo and I can send and receive email on the base station. However, i can't send/receive email on the satelite?!? What do I have to do to get MAIL to work on my mini?

I have a similar setup. I created the same mail account on both computers. Both can read and send mail with no problem. Are you getting an error message when you try to send/receive mail fromt he satellite machine?

  • N82 V30.0.013 Bluetooth and Wireless LAN problems

I am using an N82, but it looks like there are similar problems with everything using similar firmware. I didn't have any of these problems with the V20 firmware that came with the phone or after the first V20 upgrade I used.
I find that my wireless LAN connections sometimes only let me browse a few pages before I get the "web connection timed out" message. If I change wireless LAN connection (I have two, mostly for testing purposes) I can continue browsing. Of course the same error may happen causing me to switch again. Sometimes it just works. Both have WPA set up and the passwords are clearly correct. If I use Real Player I can typically listen for as long as I like. Sometimes the connection to the server will drop for Real Player but reconnecting will work (don't have to change wireless LAN network). With the web browser it seems like the data connection is dead, not a server timing out - the message appears instantly. I think have seen the same problem once with my 3G connection, but I haven't recreated it. Could be my imagination!
I have never had any problems with IMAP email using either the Nokia client or Profimail on either the wireless LAN connection or 3G. It leads me to believe that there is nothing wrong with the wireless LAN side of things and it may be more to do with the web browser, or perhaps just that the email clients are only talking to one server helps (DNS problems?). Has anyone experienced similar problems with an alternative browser?
I have also found that when I get to work my bluetooth dongle doesn't connect to my phone. If I disable/enable bluetooth on my phone it will connect. I had this problem with my N80 with the first firmware I had on it and the problem went away after an upgrade.
So, it seems that both connections are fixed by turning them off and on again.

Having both routers the same IP address is a little bit confusing, but possible since each router creates it's own subnet and provides full PNAT support. Actiontec DSL modem has to have DHCP enabled since Linksys WAN (not LAN) port should be connected to one of 4 Actiontec LAN ports. Linksys should not have any configuration setup in regards of your WAN account. Just set it to dynamic address. In ohter words:
    1. RJ-11 connect to Actiontec mode/router.
    2. Actiontec modem should be configured to acquire an IP address from Verizon and to provide all authentication info to Verizon.
    3. Actiontec modem should be configured to allow clients to acquire dynamic IP addresses -- DHCP enabled.
    4. Linsys WAN (not LAN!) port should be connected to Actiontec LAN port.
    5. Linksys should be configured to acquire dynamic IP address and no authentifacations.
    6. Configure Linksys to be DHCP enabled or you can use static IP addresss if you want.
    7. Wireless devices would be connected to Linksys and on the way to the Internet addresses would go through double NAT conversions. Any wired device connected to Linksys would have similar  features. Any device connected to Linksys should be able to connect 192.168.1.1 assigned to Linksys, but not to Actiontec.
    8. To be able to connect Linksys and Actiontec would no be able to communicate unless you split 192.168.1.0/24 into smaller subnets and set specific routes in the table. But even you do so you will not be able to access 192.168.1.1 accross subnets boundary.
    Hope it helps.

  • SA520W Vlan's & DHCP and wireless LAN

Hi just started to configure my new firewall and ran into some problems:
1     I setup 3 VLAN's but cannot assign different subnets trough DHCP or manually.
VLAN 's are working fine but they all get an ip from the same DHCP pool.
2    I setup one WLAN for each VLAN but there is no option to assign an SSID to a VLAN.
No WLAN can access the LAN, can that be done?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Just got my question answered by a SBSC Nework Engineer (Richard):
The SA520 only has one DHCP scope, as you mentioned.   As a result, the
VLAN's are all port based VLAN's.
The steps you want to take to add your wireless SSID's to your vlan's is as follows:
    1)   Under Wireless - Profiles - Create your SSID's.
    2)   Under  Networking -  VLAN - Port VLAN  - You should see your
wireless SSID's listed here under your wired VLAN's.
    3)    Under Port VLAN,  Select the SSID that you want to add to VLAN's
and select EDIT.   -   Add VLAN's to that SSID.   In order to select
multiple VLAN's for a given SSID, you must set it to either General or Trunk port.
Tested by me and it works perfect.

  • 5530 and wireless lan

So i fear i may be doing something silly or missing a step, but when i connect to my home wireless network, then do to the home screen or the menu (to use the facebook app, or ovi store in the menu) my phone connects via the gprs network and connection to my wlan is lost.
If i use the option to browse the web, once connecting to a network i can access the ovi store over wlan.
So am i missing a step? or am i not able to use apps (facebook/ovi) over wlan?

This is one of the biggest headaches for this phone.  I have played and played with the phone and get really frustrated with the connection problems. I mainly bought the phone because I didn't want to pay for a data package on my provider and just use the wifi capability.  The phone really tries to force you to use your carriers data connection, even when you place the wlan priority number one or even delete the phone carriers option.
I have no idea how to more easily keep the setting and seems it is very user UNfriendly everytime you use a browser or some other application that accesses the internet. I have no idea why Nokia made the phone so tedious when setting up and/or using a data connection.

  • Wildcard Certificate and Wireless Lan Controller

    Hello,
I'm working with wlc 5508 version 7.2.111.3 and I'm looking to use a wildcard certificate, I've just checked on the forum that there was a bug-id and it seems it's been closed with a workaround of not using wildcard certs, is it resolved now?
If yes, could you indicate to me how can I proceed to install it quickly?
    Regards

    Hello,
The bug was about bad behavior when the wildcard certificate is used. The status of the bug now is "Terminated". That means it was found that the root cause for this bug is not really a bug (bad description, normal behavior...etc).
So, I think you can go with the wildcard certificat you have. The bug was opened on 5.2 version which is very old comparing to 7.2.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Two wireless LANs?

    Hi all,
I recently picked up a 2504 wireless controller and two 3702i APs.  It is all for my home, and I will be connecting it all soon.  I simply want to create two wireless networks; one for "production" and one "guest" network, which will allow internet access and nothing more.  I'd like that to be for phones, iPads, game consoles, etc...
I've found that many of those types of devices don't work on the 5GHz band, so I would like to make the production network 5GHz while the guest network would be 2.4GHz.
My first question is...  Can I do this?
My second question is...  If so, how?
And my last question is...  How do I ensure that devices connected to guest have no access to the production network?
Any other questions I should be asking?
    Thanks!

    yup!
    1) On the WLC create 2 dynamic interfaces and give them each an IP address. These very interfaces are the gateway between the wired and wireless lan controller. Then you can tie the dynamic interfaces to WLC ports.
    2) On the switch you will want to add these 2 vlans and connect them to the respected ports.
See the config guide for step by step. Its not really hard.
You can configure WLANs one for production and one for guest. You can even do your own personal guest page of you like. Check out WebAuth on a cisco WLC.
As for securing the guest from the production. On the wired side SVI you can put a simple ACL.
    Hope this helps

  • Iphone 4 Wireless LAN connection

I have an Iphone 4 and the Actiontec Router.
Recently if I leave my home and then return, my Iphone will connect to the wireless but I am unable to get email or do anything that uses the Internet via the wireless.  I have installed a Ping application on my iphone and when I ping the default gateway (192.168.1.1) it times out.  When I turn off wireless and then re-enable it works fine.
Additionally if I don't use my phone for sometime it will do the same thing, I cannot get my email unless I disable and re-enable wireless.  Anyone experience this problem or know of a work around?
I am using WPA2 AES, 802.11G only and automatic channel selection.  I don't have any problems with laptops connected via wireless.  I have also tried used Static IP addressing but that didn't do anything either.
    Thanks, Jim

yes.  It get 192.168.1.5 for example and then DG and DNS of 192.168.1.1
My ping program shows me the IP address of 3G and wireless LAN.
Even if I ping 4.2.2.1 it will time out.  If I disable wireless and ping 4.2.2.1 it works.  Everything begins to work. Then if I re-enable wireless I can then ping my DG and 4.2.2.1 and get email, etc.
Just seems to happen mostly when I leave for a while then return home.

  • Wireless LAN for SMB

    Dear all,
My company planning to use WLAN instead of using LAN for the coming next few years.
I'm doing research on how and what to do if want to use WLAN in our company for around 100 users.
Appreciate if WLAN experts could provide some info needed.
    Tq!

My company planning to use WLAN instead of using LAN for the coming next few years.
Bad decision.  For the time being, you cannot replace wired LAN with wireless.
There's a major weakness with wireless LAN:  Wireless LAN behaves like a hub.  When one talks everyone else stops to listen and waits for their turn.
In a fully-wireless LAN environment one has to constantly monitor the state of your wireless APs:  contention ration between users to an AP, channel interferrence, signal strengths, etc.  Wired LAN and wireless LAN go hand-in-hand.  There are reasons why you want to use wireless and this is purely mobility.  If you are mostly sitting behind your desk, then wired is the way to go.
The reason why your company wants to go wireless is the cost to roll out a site with wired infrastructure.  We've tried this.  We've talked the clown who made this decision but he wasn't listening.  So what we did was take a step back, sold tickets and popcorn.  When the time came to turn this setup on, we just watched the fireworks go up.
Please consider this:  If you have a wired and wireless LAN and if your WLAN fails, what is your backup/fallback?  Your wired LAN right?  Ok.  Now if you are fully wireless LAN and you don't have wired LAN to your desktop and your WLAN fails.  What is your backup/fallback?

  • Wireless lan satellite SA60-117

    Hi,
The SA60-117 is standard without WLAN adapter, but there is a location to place a mini-PCI-card(?), see cover in the bottom.
Is this a accessoire you can buy and place later (where/how) or is this just for other SA60 models?
    Now I use a USB-stick or PCMCIA-card, but I want a built-in WLAN-card.
    Thanks, John

    Hello john
As far as I know the Wireless LAN / Wi-Fi is not available for this unit. That means that there is no antenna and retrofitting of the unit will costs a lot of money. In my opinion USB stick or PCMCIA wireless card is the best and cheapest solution.

  • HP Officejet 6500, Windows XP and 7, wireless LAN security code is not accepted

The security code of my wireless LAN is not accepted by the HP6500A. According to the diagnostic software of HP a code consisting of more than 50 characters is required (the total number of characters can not be identified because the code isgoing on out of the window). The security code of the route consists of 12 characters. Resetting the printer is not solving the problem.
This problem was identified after rinstalling the software after problems with printing: connection with the printer was identified; message: "busy with printing", but no printing result at all.

Security codes can be in ASCII or HEX.  I'm guessing that the diagnostics is reporting HEX and the printer entry is in ASCII.
You can try running the diagnostics SW on the Windows 7 computer.  It might return the key in ASCII.
A good option is to get the password from somewhere other than the diagnostics.  Maybe you stored it somewhere or wrote it down?  Once you get it try to enter from the front panel.
Can I get a little information from you?
    What router brand model?
What security mode are you using (WEP, WPA, WPA2)?
Which model of the 6500 do you have (6500 or 6500a)?
Please mark the post that solves your problem as "Accepted Solution"
Sometimes it takes several posts back and forth to get to a solution - please be patient.
