Saf quits after hitting Enter in search field
As soon as I hit Enter after typing in Search field (Google or Acid or whatever) Safari quits. I reset it, I downloaded the latest version, I reset it again. Nothing seems to work. I've never had any problems with S at all until this and making me CRAZY!!! Please help.
Hello msteri:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
Try this:
Trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restart.

How do I get the playhead to move to the beginning of the cycle area when selected instead of bar 1 after hitting enter?
Grateful pirate wrote:
Thanks but I think it's more of a setting thing.
Worked for years in 9 and know my the key commands. Just takes up lot of extra time. I know there must be a solution just can't find it myself.
Thanks again.
Oh, I see…….when I want something like this to happen I would just engage the >Go To Start< command (0 on the numeric keyboard in my case) and the play head will position at the beginning of a cycle area (if one is active of course)!
Hope this helps a bit…….. -
The iOS 5.1.1 Music app search function works fine on my iPad 2 as long as the library being searched is resident on the iPad.
When Home Sharing from my iMac’s iTunes library is used, however, the Music app aborts without explanation after two characters are entered in the search field.
The behavior is always as expected after the first character is entered, but an abort always occurs after the second.
I have tried restarting iTunes on my iMac, and I have done a hard reset on my iPad, but the behavior remains the same.
This is not a minor problem from the user’s perspective, because unless the iTunes library being accessed is very small, it is very hard to find music from the information shown by the Music app on the iPad screen; it would be even worse for an iPhone or iPod touch. Without the search function working on iOS Music app, Home Sharing is of very limited use for me.
In case it is relevant, here is fuller information about the environment:
iMac 27" 2.93 GHz i7 12 GB RAM (Approx. 10 GB free or inactive at time of problem)
OS X 10.7.4
iTunes 10.6.3
iPad 2G 16 GB Wi-Fi only
iOS 5.1.1
Airport Extreme 5G v 7.6.1
Airport Express 802.11n v. 7.6.1 extending network
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
ThanksSpoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department. Her suggestions: change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers. So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue. It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more. Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department. Make them aware of this problem! -
As the title says, I run Firefox Beta 6 and just reinstalled Windows 7 Professional on my system due to seriously messed up Windows update, and when I downloaded and installed Firefox, I noticed every time I searched using the Google search next to the URL bar, FF would freeze for about 30 seconds to a minute, with nothing running in the background and no other programs running. I also disabled all Add-Ons and it still continues to act up, so that leads me to believe it's a FF issue, but even on every other website when using the search bar as soon as I hit enter, it locks up and stops responding then goes back to normal about 30 secs later, or if I sign into Facebook it does the same, and even when I had the FF 5 Beta before I had to reinstall I never had a problem.
I managed to solve this problem as my computer has been giving me problems lately and completely froze on me the other day thanks to Game Booster Beta 3 and completely screwed with Windows 7 to the point I almost had to reinstall again, but I managed to fix all my problems and if you would just follow my link here over to my post on Seven Forums then it would be easier then explaining it again.
http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/180714-windows-7-professional-64-bit-logs-but-almost-frozen-3.html#post1550277 The reason for this is if you shut down your computer while running Firefox, it's possible you corrupted your User Profile for FF and if you follow my instructions you can repair it instead of making a new, so just follow the link, read my post and if you have anymore problems just message me on Seven Forums. Have a nice day and hopefully you get it all fixed. :b -
Enter in search field in Interactive report does not work
APEX 3.2.1
When I type a string in apexir_SEARCH field and clichk on OK button, the report behaves in a correct way - it adds a filter line and does filtering.
When I type a string in apexir_SEARCH field and then <Enter>, nothing happens.
The same behavior in IE9 and Chrome.
Apparently, it's gReport.search('SEARCH') function actioned on apexir_SEARCH's keyup event that is fired, but I don't manage to get further.
I have deleted all non-odp processes and created a test IR page, but there the behavior is still the same.
Any idea what could cause this?
Igorinspect the input element and see if it has something like this
if($f_Enter(event)){gReport.search('SEARCH'); return false;}if not add this using javascript -

It appears that you have not updated to 10.4.8 yet. Maybe go ahead and update, then verify/repair permissions (using Disk Utility) and then see if that helps.
If not try one of the things that has worked for other users.

Front Row Quits after entering 'Movies' Folder
I have just erased my harddrive and reinstalled OSX on my 18" iMac (1.8ghz, 512ram). Had some problems with the main applications which i rectified by using the bundled software cd and uninstalling programmes such as iphoto and reinstalling them.
Front row on the other hand, quits after i enter my movies file. All other aspects of front row seem to work fine though. I would uninstall and reinstall front row, however, as i understand it, it's not actually an appllication, and so cannot be uninstalled. Can anybody help me rectify this issue?
Thankyou.Your profile indicates Mac OS X 10.4.8, is there a reason you haven't updated to the current version of Mac OS X which is now 10.4.10? Is your QuickTime up-to-date with version 7.2? Is your Front Row up-to-date with version 1.3.1? Is your iTunes up-to-date with version 7.4.2? Each of those updates have recently fixed various issues that have come up with one module of Front Row or another. Did you use the Perian plug-in or Flip4Mac with QuickTime before? You'll need to re-install those QuickTime plug-ins as well.

Object disappears after pressing enter key
I need to attach the transaction J1B3N to keep the connection objects.
Perform the steps as the help of SAP:
Object links to other SAP objects
You can make an object link to SAP objects that are not shown in the possible entries list. To do this, proceed as follows:
In the standard system, there are already two special screens for the module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 for the linked SAP object.
You must create two new screens with the same number for the module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 .
The processing logic must follow that of screen 1204 in program SAPLVC130.
Create function module OBJECT_CHECK_XXXX (XXXX = object name)
If the object can be classified, this function module already exists .
Otherwise copy the function module for linking equipment DOCUMENT_CHECK_EQUI and change it as required for the new object.
After performing these steps can see the screen with the number of document tab Link Object, but I am having the following problem: I inform the document number field and press Enter this number some of the screen.
Already remade several times but can not find the point I'm failing.
Thank you,Hi Michely,
could you please check if the necessary object is correctly mainatined in structure MCDOKOB too. Here the following coding part could be useful to analyse why the value disappears after hitting enter:
Main Program SAPLCVOB
Source code of LCVOBU02
FUNCTION KEY_ZU_OBJEKT
SELECT SINGLE * FROM TCLO
WHERE OBTAB EQ OBJEKT.
IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
RAISE NO_OBJEKT.
ENDIF.
NAME = 'MCDOKOB'.
IF NAME CP '*# '. ENDIF.
WRITE '-' TO NAME+SY-FDPOS.
IF NAME CP '*# '. ENDIF.
IF NOT TCLO-KEYF0 IS INITIAL.
WRITE TCLO-KEYF0 TO NAME+SY-FDPOS.
ASSIGN TABLE FIELD (NAME) TO <KEYF1>.
DESCRIBE FIELD <KEYF1> LENGTH LEN1 IN CHARACTER MODE.
KEY1 = NAME.
ENDIF.
IF TCLO-KEYF0 EQ SPACE.
KEY1 = ' '.
LEN1 = 0.
ENDIF.
Here the keyfield is read from table TCLO and then the length is read from structure MCDOKOB for example. So it is necessary that the same data is maintained in table TCLO and structure MCDOKOB to grant the correct working for new individual objects.
Best regards,

How can I disable the feature that opens a new tab everytime I enter a search request?
I have Firefox 4.0.1 installed on my laptop, using Windows 7. Whenever I enter in a search query into the search bar and hit enter the search results come up on a different tab. If I then search for something from that new tab another tab opens. As you can plainly see, it doesn't take too long before you have multiple tabs open, thus slowing down the computer. Granted the easy answer is to close the old tabs as I go along, but I swear on older versions of Firefox this "feature" could be turned off; I find it highly annoying to have to constantly click the older tabs from which I searched from.
Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.
pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
See:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

Hitting ENTER causes cursor to jump to other blocks
Hi,
In my custom 6i form, if the user accidentally hits ENTER on any field (null or not null), the cursor jumps to a particular block everytime. How can I stop this event to occur so the cursor stays at that field only?
Thanks.I guess "Navigation" property of your form is set to block level. Change it to item level.

ITunes search bar deletes field after pressing enter
Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 10, about half the time I enter any information into the search field, iTunes will briefly bring up the results for my search, and then as soon as I click on it, my search will vanish and iTunes will revert to the way it is when it launches. This has happened over two separate computers and over two separate versions of iTunes (10 and 11), and every update I figure that maybe they will fix the issue, but every update does nothing to help me. I had assumed this was a major problem since I had two completely separate computers experiencing the same issues, but I finally began to search for a solution, and it appears (if google is to be trusted and I am entering the right search terms) that somehow, against all mathmatical probability, I happen to be in possession of the only two computers that have this problem. Again, I will type something into the search bar, hit enter (or I will just click the main area, the same thing happens either way), it will bring up my search results, I will click the main iTunes area, and iTunes will act as if I highlighted the search area and pressed delete, restoring the main screen to its original condition. For the love of god please help me. I feel as if every time I go to click on the song I want only to find it snatched from my possession I am can feel yet another of the frayed strings of sanity that connect my fragile mind to reality snipped by the shears of Atropos.
The AVG Safe Search extension can cause problems with the Enter key not working in the location bar.

Having to hit enter after input field
In one of our application once the users has input data in a
field, they do not hit Enter but rather they click on a button. In
Captivate 3, is there a way to validate that input entry without
having to ask the user to hit Enter (hitting enter doesn't happen
in the apps).
thanks in advance.Welcome to our community, Jack
Indeed you may configure Captivate to do exactly what you
need. If you double-click your Text Entry Box object and look at
the Options tab, you will find a check box allowing you to also
display a Button that is related to the Text Entry Box. The Button
is then used for validation. Note that the Button may also be
customized and made transparent so that you may overlay an image of
the application Button to achieve the same look and feel.

I just recently updated to Firefox 6. Before the update, I was able to type a address into the URL bar and hit return. Nice and easy. Now if I do this I get no response. To direct to a web page I have to move my cursor to click the go button. It's annoying and a waste of time. What happened here? Any way I can change things so I can just hit enter again?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4+ you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

How to submit page by hitting "enter" in a text field - Solution
Hi,
I had this problem yesterday and thought it may come in handy for others who run into the same issue.
My page had 2 text fields. Upon hitting enter in either of the boxes I wanted the page to submit. When only 1 text field was present it worked, however once the second field was added this stopped working.
After reading a bit (http://ppewww.ph.gla.ac.uk/~flavell/www/formquestion.html) I fount that "When there is only one single-line text input field in a form, the user agent should accept Enter in that field as a request to submit the form.". This would explain why it worked with only 1 field, but not with 2.
After doing some testing I found that to make it work with 2 or more text fields, I needed to add a submit button. This is not the same as a button in APEX. In APEX "button" just has a onClick call to a submit function. You need a native HTML submit button.
In order to do that I created text field. Deleted the label, and set the static value to "Search" (this was for my search application). In the page attributes I added the following:
< script language="JavaScript1.1" type="text/javascript">
document.getElementById("P1_SEARCH_SUBMIT").type="submit";
< / script >
Note: I added extra spaces in the tags so they would display properly.
This function changes the button type to submit.
Now when I have 2 or more text forms it submits when I hit enter in either one.
MartinHi,
Set the Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null in Edit Page Item.

I noticed a few random things not working on my computer in the last month or so, and I tried everything I can think of to figure out what it is...still haven't figured it out yet. Some examples - I was on ebay, and the tracking number I clicked on from the "My ebay" page popped open a javascript window, but then froze the page so I had to close the whole tab. Then on Grooveshark, the main page comes up, but if I type anything in the search field, I can see what I'm typing, but at the same time, I can still see their default search message. If I try to enter something and hit search, it just gives me the warning that I'm being asked if I want to leave the page, it never searches. There are a few other times I can think of that I tried to use a dropdown menu, and they don't always work - they just look like they're being clicked, but nothing shows. Also not sure if this is related or not, but it bears mentioning - I tried to install Freecorder, and even though I tried both the toolbar and just the button for installation options, it doesn't show up for me to use it, and that's with adblock plus disabled. Also not positive my last update of Adobe Flash took, even though I downloaded it.
I have adblock plus, but I've had that for years now, and it's never caused a problem or stopped me from seeing anything I actually wanted to see. My system was pretty bada** before this, and it's frustrating that suddenly I can't go everywhere and do everything I could before. Why is it doing this, and can I fix it??Meh...if I had started here instead of trying to research this randomly, I would have fixed the problem weeks ago. I just did a Firefox reset, and tried all the things I mentioned in the OP, and it all seems to work fine now. Well, aside from Freecorder, but I can make that work another way, I guess. Anyway, Firefox reset = solution. Yay!
