Safari 2.0.3 (417.8) Bug report! (10.4.5 download)

After I upgraded safari this morning I noticed when you go over your bookmarks, (the ones above the tabbed browsing) the arrow (mouse pointer icon) disappears.
If you click in main window you get it back.
It don't happend all the time, but often enough.

Hi Kristoffer,
To report a Safari bug, you can do it right in the Safari Application. All you need to do is go to the Safari menu (must open application) and under About Safari you should see Report Bugs to Apple...
I hope that helps,
Jon

  • Sending a bug report on the OS and a sleep mode problem.

I find the bug button in Safari really convenient for sending Apple bug reports. And when other applications crash, you usually get an error dialog with a button to send a bug report. But sometimes problems arise that require reporting, but which don't fall in either of these categories. It would be very handy to have a bug "button" for the OS, or perhaps just a menu selection in the Finder menu bar that invokes a bug report dialog box. I know you can dig around and find the URL for Apple's bug report web page, but I am always forgetting it -- I suppose I could just bookmark it, but then I'd just have to dig around in all the bookmarks to find it. Better would be a utility built-in to the OS for sending bug reports (like Safari's). It could also automatically transfer necessary info about the OS rev and such.
The problem I had was this. I have a script that puts my iMac to sleep. I put the script alias on the task bar and a single click puts the computer to sleep (easier than using the menu). Unfortunately, I sometimes click it by mistake when I am trying to click an adjacent icon in the task bar, and the Mac starts going through its cycle to enter sleep mode and is impervious to anything I do to try and cancel it. I tried pressing the space bar continuously to prevent it from going to sleep, but that did not work. Worse, when it went to sleep and I woke it up again, the task bar would not appear, clicking on app windows did not activate them, Finder menus could not be selected, etc. The cursor would move, but I could not do anything else. (I wish now I had noted if the clock in the menu bar was still advancing, but I didn't think to do that.) I powered down the iMac from the power key and rebooted. Things are working fine now.
I wanted to send a bug report on this, but realized that unlike Safari, there was no button or menu selection for doing that. So here I am.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    TIA,
    Drake

  • Bug report: Safari 5 fails to handle 8192 bit RSA certificates

Running Safari 5.1.7 on OS X 10.6.8 -- I haven't confirmed for the version of Safari running on 10.7 -- and trying to access a site over https that uses an 8192 bits large RSA cert causes Safari to bug out. It can't display the certificate details correctly, giving just a garbled text output, and even a buggy interface dialog, and manually trying to accept the certificate to get the website to load causes Safari to run in an endless loop, displaying the certificate warning anew, over and over, making it impossible to load the page. The exact same certificate details put in a 4096 bit cert works just fine.
Could anyone in the core dev team take a look at this? The number of sites making use of 8192 bit large certs is growing, and Safari is the only browser out there that can't handle it.
add.: it seems the problem sits at a more fundamental level than in Safari, possibly in some underlying framework - apparently several other applications in OS X fails with handling an RSA cert of 8192 bits size, as mentioned in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/11728527
    Possibly related: https://discussions.apple.com/message/3650856

  • Bug Report Safari / Taskbar follows into Safari

    Hi,
I hope my description is correct, respectively understandable.
When I start the Safari, the Taskbar above follows with kind of a wipe-effekt into the Safari and disapears then. This happens only when I start the Safari, not when I switch back to it when already open. Of course this is no big issue but a ugly one, even it's only for a second.
The picture above shows it perfectly and I hope some devs will read this to consider it in the next update.
    Cheers,
    Roland

  • I'd use Safari's bug report function instead of posting here, but...

    ...it crashes Safari. lol.
    So here are my reports:
    - If Google is set as the default search engine, setting the home page to www.google.com crashes the program.
    - Bookmarks... seems like this topic has been covered well enough. I actually had no problems importing them from Firefox, but adding new ones crashes the program.
    - And as mentioned, the bug report function crashes the program.
Bugs aside, I love it. Looking forward to future releases.

    Haha! It's so Windows-alike!

or use the Safari button with the bug symbol. There you could easily add a screenshot, sourcecode and problem type of your bug on a html page.

  • How do i use the bug reporter in ios 8

im trying to use the bug reporter for the beta ios 8 but i dont get to input anything. Maybe i dont understand how this works,so can someone please explain.either way i figure i should say somthing now.
-the infinity blade 2 app does not load
-my settings button doesnt load all the time,
-most of the apps dont load the first time i open them,if i switch to another menu then back it will load.
-just now i shut off my phone, plugged it into the charger. My phone then turned itself back on and had me reactivate it.
-the "sample" button in the ibooks app doesnt seem to do anything either
-most of the time scrolling down on anything rather large(e.g.songs,articles,facebook) there is alot of skipping or lagging effect
-when on safari i turn my phone sidways and it totally messes up where things should go and it wont return i have to exit and close to fix
anyways id just thought id put that out there

You need to ask this question in the Developer's forum, which as a registered developer you have access to. If you're not a registered developer, then you have no business messing with iOS Beta software, & discussing such, even bug reporting, is PROHIBITED in this public forum.
But, as a registered developer, you already knew that, correct?

  • Safari crash- can anyone decipher this error report?

This is the error report accompanying the crash that I had when i installed Safari and tried to open it. The browser never opened, just said an error had occurred. If anyone can decode this and let me know whats wrong Id love them!

  • Be able to submit bug reports via LittleBigPlanet 2.

We all know that there's so many bugs and glitches out there in LittleBigPlanet 2, so how about an option to submit a bug report directly from the game? Who's with me?

    With pleasure!
Try it with bugreport.apple.com. Need to be a registered ADC Member, but that frees. Be sure to pick a bug that is reproducible with a simple step by step recipe on the most current software.
So what is this bug you have been talking about?
    Recurring complaint of mine:
March 2006 [If the RSS feeds contained pubDate and author that would be great!|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1892109#1892109]
April 2008 [better rss feeds without jf namespace prefix|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1468264&tstart=189]
The RSS feeds are almost useful. They actually include the author and create date information, but do so in a format that neither safari or any other garden variety RSS reader handles.
Jive's own documentation on the subject [Jive Community: Content Syndication via RSS|http://www.jivesoftware.com/community/docs/DOC-1022] recommends reformatting the output to suit the needs of your audience in the section titled "*Displaying RSS (or, actually doing something with this stuff)*".
It seems the jf: prefixed tags aren't meant to be pushed out to the RSS clients. I certainly haven't found a RSS reader that deals with them correctly or lets you workaround them. So although the feeds have a creation date, modification date, author, and reply count, none of that information can be seen in a garden variety RSS reader. This is particularly a problem for the create date, since the create date of each article is replaced with the pub date of the feed. The pub date of the feed is the time when you pull it down, and that changes each time the feed is refreshed.
Anyway ... it seems to me that it would be a small and correct change that would take the existing RSS offerings that last inch into the realm of useful. Maybe I'll be surprised.

  • Submitting bug reports

MacLoyal, that is my moniker! I am in a state of identity crisis because iPhoto is about to force me to break ranks and seek a place of sanity with a non-Apple photo system. I had to lose the iLife integration with dot mac. I do not want to take such a drastic measure and I truly cannot afford the added expense. I already have thousands of dollars sunk into Apple and all their goodies. My investment in time is something I dare not even try to calculate.
I regret every time I had a "do you want to submit a report" box pop up and cancelled it rather than submitting each and every one with frantic demands for help to correct the mess that iPhoto 5 has caused in my life.
I dare not edit any of the photos in my library. I don't even want to rotate them. Indeed, I dread opening the program! It hangs my laptop computer up indefinitely. The only way I have found to interrupt the hang time, because I cannot even get force quit to work, is to shut the lid and put it to sleep. Amazingly, when I open it again I am not in a suspended state. However, as I stated, I'm reluctant to actually do anything with the program besides, perhaps run the slide show, once I have the program open.
So my question is: How do I send a bug report when I haven't actually gotten to the point that the computer generates the bug message? That seems only to happen with an unexpected quit.
I've noticed that the Safari pull down menu always has a "Submit bug report" message listed, but iPhoto does not have that in the its menu panel. Can I submit a report on any topic on the Safari form or is that only going to make it to the Safari team at Apple? If I can use that form, is there a limit to how many complaints I can inundate them with? I am at my wits end. . .

Of all the programs I've used of OSX IPhoto is the lamest. I really thought it should be better and every time I opened it up and used it I just couldn't get over how poorly it worked. I finally stopped using it altogether and just started using photoshops browser. Now photoshop has the bridge which seems like it would be great (haven't upgraded yet). Even with out the bugs the program just doesn't meet my simplest needs for photos. Good luck finding something that fits your needs and works well on your computer.

  • Apple Bug Reporter won't let me sign in

Don't know where else to post this. When I try to sign into the Apple Bug Reporter with my correct email address and password, it redirects to the same login page with no error message.

    Hi ..
If you are using Safari to try and login to the bug reporter ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click Details. Type Apple in the search field then remove all results.
Now empty the Safari cache. Press Command + Option + E
Quit and relaunch Safari and try logging in.

  • It Says Broken Pipe When I Submit a Report at Apple's Bug Report Page

Hi. It says broken pipe when I try to submit on Apple's bug report page: https://bugreport.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/RadarWeb.woa/wa/signIn
I'm using Lion Safari (under Safe mode, coz' my iMac won't boot normally). What's the solution? Thank you in advance.
    Gbu.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. It's ok now. I just logged in again. Reporting OS X and iOS X bugs and suggesting product feedbacks to Apple should be a little easier if they put it built-in in OS X and iOS.

  • Bug Report Facility on OS X, Downloads Folder Bug?

Hi. I think there should be a reporting system in OS X built-in. They should maybe convert the Report bug on Safari into a suggestions and bugs reporting facility because Safari is usually the most common app that's open all the time. It's inconvenient to do so to go to Apple's suggetions and bugs reporting page in their website.
Also, when you go to the Downloads folder and put it on Arrange by Kind, some of the files on each category are not grouped properly (.dmg for example), they're separated. It also doesn't delete right away when you use Cmd-Delete, you have to do it more than once sometimes.
I hope the next update will have fixed most of the quirks.
    Thank you in advance.
    Gbu,
    Alvin

  • Bug Report Tool Bar Icon Missing

I'm using the latest version of Safari on 10.7.3. I always kept the bug report icon on the tool bar to have a quick way to send a report when necessary. Today when I had an issue I noticed the icon was gone and when I went to the View menu to customize the tool bar I saw that the icon was missing from there as well. I know that Report Bugs To Apple is under the Sfari menu and I used that but I'm wondering why the icon was removed from this version.

Yes, it seems to be gone.
    As for why ...
I don't see how anybody here could know what the developers were thinking.

  • Bug report follow-up

is there a way to follow-up on a bug report that i submitted?  i have the bug number, but would like to see if the report was understood, filled out properly and determine the status of the bug report.
    thanks,
    doug
