Safari 2.0.3 makes it impossible to navigate some web sites.

http://www.AnnesleyPhoto.com is one of my websites and when clicking on individual products, those pages are now illegible due to off-set of graphics and type. There was no problem with previous versions of Safari nor with any other browsers I've used in the past on my own or other people's computers (Netscape, Explorer, etc...) I am no longer able to administer hundreds of pages of my web sites, and I suspect anyone with the current version of Safari is likewise unable to view my sites. If I 'fix' the hundreds of pages of coding so that Safari2.0.3 users can view my site, its going to cost me time I haven't got- and now they've been effectively negated and made unusable by anyone with a new Mac, myself included. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WILL BE FIXED IN UPCOMING VERSIONS OF SAFARI OR IF I NEED TO RE-WRITE NEARLY EVERY PAGE OF MY WEB SITES ? I suspect thousands of other people and companies around the globe are experiencing similar technical difficulties. Is this something I'm going to have to reconfigure from my end? BBEdit lists 2 "warnings" and 25 "errors". Some tables are not properly "closed".
Looks like "Created Using Yahoo! Wizards 2.61.65" doesn't write very good code.
The biggest problem is the "clear" .gif files used for the table layout. When I removed the entire mess of them the page loads OK (still some missing br tags for the two links at the bottom of the page).
Removing the opening "table" and .gif files and adding the br tags for the links make a Safari page that looks like this:
http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/ocotillosunset.html
Safari is a very strict browser compared to many others. It doesn't like "sloppy" html code.
Since your Site uses a pretty simple page code an app like BBEdit could "mass replace" the code in a matter of minutes. This new code would work the same in other, less strict, browsers.

  • Safari 4.0 is slower to show only the first web site

    Safari 4.0 is slower to show only the first web site. Once Safari is open, the first site may take 4 to 5 seconds to show, and Console indicates:
    11/06/09 17:15:09 [0x0-0x99099].com.apple.Safari[1029] Debugger() was called!
    Subsequent sites load in just one second or so (and Console does not show any messsage).
    If I quit Safari and open it again, the same issue arises: it takes longer to show the very first site (whatever it is) but not the subsequent ones (for which it is quicker), and Console shows a similar string on such very first site (but not the subsequent ones). Other examples of such string:
    11/06/09 17:15:58 [0x0-0x9b09b].com.apple.Safari[1033] Debugger() was called!
    11/06/09 17:15:58 [0x0-0x9b09b].com.apple.Safari[1033] Debugger() was called!
    11/06/09 17:17:06 [0x0-0x9c09c].com.apple.Safari[1036] Debugger() was called!
    How to prevent such Console message and make Safari also quick to show the very first page or site after opening Safari?
    Thanks.

    Not to get your hopes up, did you ever hear or figure out any resolution to this. I have a (slightly) similar issue passed along from one of my bosses, that when he upgraded to 4.0.2 it started causing issues with FTP logins through Safari. He would have to enter passwords multiple times on the same site. So initial entry worked and then every subsequent event needed a password entry. Just curious if this could be part of your problem. I tried to emulate the problem on my machines and only on the one I have the 4.0.2 update does it happen.

    Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
    Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).

    Yes - well you have to make the file in a word processing Application.
    You could use TextEdit (it's free) Pages (words only), or Numbers (data base) (they are part of iWorks - and may or may not be free (included) on your machine.  You could use MS Office (it is not free) You could use any Open source word processor that plays well with Office (NeoOffice, StarOffice) they are free.
    That's how you create content and copy/paste URLS. Then you save the file to the desktop. If you are going to make more than one file... you make a folder on the desktop and save, or drag the file(s) into it.
    You attach it to your e-mail client which will compress it and e-mail it. An excellent reference is to use Help, from the menu bar, also from inside any application. From your library or book store the OS X for Dummies has a lot of useful information (you don't read it cover to cover but look up chapters about what you'd like to do)
    You can also make appointments at your local Apple store for individualized help (if a store is nearby)

    I have ipad with IOS 7,  Some apps doesn' t work, safari not open some web site. What can I do?

    Try this and see if it helps.
    Settings>Safari>Clear cookies and data.
    Now close Safari completely. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then "swipe up" or "drag up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Hi, some web site no longer support Safari 5.1 is there an upgrade I can get or use?

    Hi, some web site no longer support Safari 5.1 is there an upgrade I can get or use?

    You need to upgrade the computer's OS or switch browsers. If desired, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Mavericks. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
    Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

    Avast is the problem. This is a list of links for threads regarding Avast and the issues it can cause on your Mac  > Community Search: Apple Support Communities
    Follow the instructions for uninstalling Avast >  How to remove Avast Antivirus from a Mac
    If you really want to have anti virus software installed on your Mac, try Free Antivirus for Mac Tool Download | Sophos
    Do not install Sophos before completely removing Avast.

  • Some web sites not working in FF but they are OK in Safari.

    A couple of times lately I have had web sites not work correctly with Firefox. I need to switch to Safari to complete the tasks I needed to do. My FF is running on Mountain Lion and is up to date.

    Hello michaeljt, the sites you have problem, is it with a lot of flash content ?
    Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
    Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
    Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
    Please reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
    *Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with the left mouse key.
    OR
    *Press ''Ctrl'' + ''F5'' or ''Ctrl'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Windows and Linux)
    *Press ''Command'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Mac)
    See if this helps solve the issues you had and please report back to us!
    thank you

  • Safari won't display graphics for some web sites

    There are some sites that Safari won't display all of the graphics. For instance, nissanusa.com opens to a blank page with a little "feedback" symbol in the lower right corner. Similarly, the infiniti.com page has some text but no graphics. Both pages open fine on Firefox. There are other pages, but I prefer not to have to switch back and forth between browsers. Am I missing a plug-in that I don't know about?
    Phil

    Sorry, Guys. Somehow I screwed up when I installed the new Safari with Leopard. I don't remember accessing the preferences for Safari and thought they remained the same as for Safari 2. However, upon checking, I discovered the "enable plug-ins" box unchecked. Checking it solved all of the web site problems.
    Peter, Thanks for your response. For informational purposes, on Safari 3, the "enable Flash" button is no longer hidden in the Mime settings tab. Now it's on right on the advanced page of the Quicktime preferences.
    Again, sorry for my screw up and thanks for your help!

  • Safari update does not access some web sites

    I just did the latest Mac update, the Safari, Quicktime,Itunes update. And now Safari does not allow me to access my own Flash based web site. It says it's loaded 3 of 4 and then just stops, no error message, nothing, just a blank page.
    And worse I am not the only person having this problem, several other people on Macs, in different parts of the country,and using Safari also can not access my site. However Firefox has no problem on my computer or theirs. Worse still, I am traveling and will be away for several weeks more and it's the holidays which is a key time for my website as it is an important sales tool for my business. There haven't been any changes to the website itself for over a year. I guess I just won't be expecting any business from Mac users this Christmas........
    Also other websites seem to have loading issues as well.
    I used to look forward to Apple updates as they USED to improve the performance of my computer, however the last two updates caused severe problems to a computer that had been working perfectly.

    Hello,
    I'm afraid that site doesn't work either for me with Safari 3.0.4 on OS X 10.4.11.
    The page appears to load but only displays a blank page.

  • Can't access some web sites with safari

    Can't access financial web site since time before last of safari update. Any help?

    In my original post, not today's, I had said I was having the issues on the Mini, running OSX 10.6.8 and Safari v.5.1.5 for my bank's pill pay. I should have been more specific as to which machine and OSX Safari browser I'm having the T-Mobile problem with. My mistake.
    It is on both the MacMini and now the Air too. A moment ago, I was able to log in to my.t-mobile.com on the Air, but after putting into my Bookmarks folder, I can't do it anymore. The Log in button comes up greyed out instead of green.
    I'm also still having trouble with my bank's bill pay section on both computers too.
    I wonder if it's related to the saving of the log in info or putting in the Bookmark Folder?
