Safari 2.0.4 says I need to install Safari update 1.3.2
I have an I-Mac G-5
I am installing H&R Block Tax Cut program. It tells me that I need to install Safari update 1.3.2 to use Tax Cut online support. Although I already have Safari 2.0.4, I tried to install Safari update 1.3.1 any way. I tried installing 1.3.1 before installing 1.3.2 and I got this message from Safari.
"You cannot install Safari Update 1.3.1 on this volume. This software requires OS X 10.3.9"
I already have OS X 10.4.8 so I don't know why it will not let me install the Safari update. Isn't the higher version number the latest version?

I have just opened my brand new Macbook Pro and I'm a first time mac user. I have tried to download flash to enable me to watch youtube clips, but on trying to download it, it says I need to close Safari but after doing so, it still won't respond. Any tips? Help?
Actually you need to quit Safari which is different from closing. With Safari open go the menu bar for Safari/Quit Safari.

Need to Install Safari 6.0.2 on a white Intel core duo iMac. Had to throw out 6.0.3 because of conflict with required software. Downloaded wrong version that was for Mountain lion (I am running 10.7.5). It installs but won't open, says it is for Mountian Lion.
Of course I can't throw it away since I get a message it's part of the sytem. I can show package contents and throw those away, but evidently not a good idea!!Need to Install Safari 6.0.2 on a white Intel core duo iMac. Yesterday after years of working, my site told me I need to install adobe 11.1 or greater. I have adobe 11.8, which is working, Active X is not on, popups are disabled, still says I need to install adobe 11.1 or greater
Figured it out. I tried using Safari rather than Firefox and it worked fine. No need to download anything.

When I want to get an app, an error message comes up saying I need 3.0 software update. How do I get my ipod updated in itunes, when itunes says my ipod is already updated?
OR if I cannot update to software 3.0, how can I find apps that will work just for my ipod touch? It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, in which case you can only upgrade to iOS version 3.1. Here is a link to purchase the update.

HHHHHEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i just bought a new computer and when i click on itunes it says i need to install ASL.dll, but i'm scared if i do or re-install itunes i will lose all the music i have bought from itunes, what do i do?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The music is stored on the iTunes library. This library isn't deleted when you uninstall or reinstall iTunes, so you will keep everything. Anyway, it's better to make a backup of the library. Apart from that, you can download the purchased music as many times as you want -
I'm using a Mac, OSX Lion. I've been using Firefox for years. Lately I've been using version 6.**, meaning I keep the version up to date as updates come out. Quicktime videos have never been an issue. But, once I installed FF version 7.0.1, websites now tell me I need to install QT. This makes no sense. Worked in FF 6, doesn't work in FF 7. Videos on Apple's website won't play in FF 7.0.1. Says I need to install QT. Makes no sense, QT is part of the OS X Lion install.
I had the same problem with divx also and here is a solution that will work for both first install the firefox add on Add-on Compatibility Reporter that can be found here
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
next restart firefox then install the add on unplug that is found here
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unplug/
once that is done you might need to make sure that unplug is enabled. if done correctly after its setup you should be able to use the web player you have installed in windows to stream the videos you find on the net. -
My computer has Windows XP, I also have Mozilla Firefox. I don't understand why sometimes, a bar appears across the screen, where the tabs should be , and it says I need to install plug ins. It has a button that says, install, and one that says, click here to find out what plug ins you need. I've tried pressing both of them on different occasions but no luck. Can someone Please Help me??
Checking your list of plugins, a common plugin that you do not have is Java, it may be trying to install that one. You can get it from http://java.com/

itunes is not recognising my ipod!! says i need to install 64 bit version, it is 64 bit version though!!
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
my iphoto wont open since i updated my mac, please help? it says i need to install an iphoto library upgrader which I have installed but still cant see my photos.
What version of iPhoto are you using? 9.6 is the current version.
Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this. -
ITunes says it needs to install rosetta
All of the sudden, iTunes won't launch and Software Update says it needs to install Rosetta. Never had to do that before. Anyone know what's going on? Could this be an issue created from the most recent update?
Instead of trying to update iTunes +from within iTunes+, go to Apple's page where you can download the iTunes 8.2.1 installation file -- save the file, don't run it direct from the download. Once downloaded to your computer, then run the installation file.
If that does not fix the problem, then remove the following software from your computer (you won't lose your music): iTunes, Quicktime, and something called "Apple Mobile Device Services". Once you remove those programs, then run the iTunes installer file (from above) again. That will install all three of these programs and should fix your problem. -
so i've recently updated my itunes but now it says i need to install a 64-bit itunes so i can get music onto my iphone. How would i fix this to work?

I'm using Aurora version of Firefox (v. 5.02a). I try to print but it won't and says I need to install a printer. I say OK but it then fails. I already have my printer installed and it works fine with all browsers but Aurora. This problem happened about the time I was offered to upgrade to v 6.02a. I tried upgrading but the upgrade failed and I lost all my many tabs that I keep open for research for my writing. I must be able to print and wonder what I should do (and why 6.0a2 didn't work!).
That 5.0a2 version is old as Firefox 5.0 has been on the Beta channel for some time now and is due for release on June 21 next week (despite what some sites wrongly claim).
Firefox 6.0a2 has been getting developed on the Aurora channl for a few weeks now.
You should update to recent Firefox 5.0 beta 7 at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/channel/ or update when 5.0 is released.

Update 3.6.17 to 4.01 fails on add-on sequence (100% CPU load)
When updating Firefox 3.6.17 to 4.01 the update process fails in the add on updating phase (loses activity). Afterwards starting Firefox results in close to 100% CPU-load and no progress at all. Since FF 4 no longer provides for a safe mode start, I
