Safari: 27 min for loading Web page (JavaScript issue)

I have Safari running on Mac OS 10.7.1 (MacBook Pro). It works fine, except for some Web pages. For example, <http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Erster-Kratzer-fuer-Kryptoalgorithmus-AES -1324532.html> gets loaded partly, then it takes minutes to have it completely on my screen (even the text).
In order to depict it, I started the Web inspector and put a screenshot of it for download.
As you can see, there are some JavaScript parts that gets interpreted as streams. This is what causes Safari to show a high latancy, up to 7 minutes. The whole page mentioned above took 27.1 minutes to load. The actual problem is that some parts that apparently are required to complete the page are loaded after some latency.
Switching off Safari Extensions, clearing the cache, and temporarily removing files in "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins" and "~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins" did not show any effect.
On the other side, Firefox 6 (on the same machine) does not have this issue. Its web console complains about "illegal characters", but the page gets completely loaded within fractions of a second.
Any ideas?

The issue has been solved in the meanwhile. The problem was that I had NetBarrier X5 running in the background with Banners Filter switched on. Obviously this caused the massive delay in loading some Web pages with ads in it.

  • Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar in ff4? It isn't included in the Customize box. Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option compeletly gone from Firefox now?

Just installed upgrade to Firefox 4.0. Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar. I checked the Customize dialogue box and it isn't included. Is anyone else missing it? Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option completely gone from Firefox now? It was a very helpful button and allowed us users to stop a web page and move on if it wasn't what we needed.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. For more details on customizing the toolbar see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

  • I'm using Safari 5.0.5 on a 13" MacBook Pro and can't get Safari to fully load web pages or pictures on web pages. Any suggestions?

I bought a MacBook Pro in October of 2010 and it's been running greatly up to this month. Now I am experiencing problems with Safari loading web pages. Sometimes it will load web pages just fine and other times it doesn't load web pages at all. This only seems to happen with certain sites. Also, on some web pages Safari won't load pictures (only the blue "?" is visible). I've experienced the same problem when I use the Mac App Store. In addition to these problems, when I visit sites that have problems loading, sometimes I just get a notice saying "Not connected to the internet" or "Safari cannot find the server." I am beginning to wonder if the problem could be some setting with my wireless router. I'm really hoping my MacBook hasn't gotten a virus. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi.
Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...

    208.67.220.220
    Then Apply

  • Safari won't load web pages while firefox has no problem

Started having problems yesterday and couldn't load any web pages with Safari or get mail. I thought the internet connection was down (it had been down), but the phone gets access via the same home wireless network, and Firefox has no problem loading web pages. Even more bizzare is that the same issue is happening on the iMac and the Macbook: both cannot get mail with Mac Mail or load web pages with Safari, but can with Firefox. This problem seems to correlate with an internet outage - everything worked until the outage, but then didn't work when the internet was back up.

Oh. Another weird thing. When I restart Safari, I can actually load one page. Just the front tab that was open when Safari closed. So odd. I did disable and re-enable DNS prefetching also to no avail also.

  • Safari-slow in loading web pages and getting beach all effect quite often today, have checked Internet connection is ok

Hi, I am having problems with Safari loading web pages as I am getting beach ball effect quite often today.  I have checked that the Internet connection is good, I have also removed webpages in history.  Can anyone give me advice please as I am fairly new to iMacs and not young?

    1. Reset Safari.

From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Uncheck the box next to  " Remove saved names and passwords".
      Click  "Reset" button
    2. Empty Caches
        Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
    3. Turn off Extensions, if any temperorily.
        Safari > Preferences > Extensions
        Try Safari again.

  • Safari hangs when loading web pages.

I'm new to the Mac and had my machine less than a week. However, I'm having problems with Safari/Internet. Generally it's fine, but from time to time Safari hangs and it can take a few minutes for it to spring back into life and load the desired web page. It's not the internet itself as I tested it on another device whilst experiencing the problem and could load sites fine. I can only think it's a problem either with some setting in Safari, or with the Mac's WiFi.
Has anyone experienced the same issue, or more to the point does anyone know how to fix it?

From the menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit, relaunch Safari to test.
Try Safari > Preferences - Privacy. Click Remove All Website Data. Quit, relaunch Safari to test.
If you installed anti virus software, disable that.
If you installed any Safari third party add ons, follow the instructions here > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And try deleting the cache.db file.
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safar/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.

    MacBook Pro
    OS X Lion 10.7.5
    Safari version - 6.0.5
Started several days ago, Safari and Chrome will not load any web pages giving an error message "Cannot find Server". When I shut down and boot Mac in Safe Mode, Safari will then load the we pages.
Can anyone help on the possible cause and resolution?

I had Peerguaurdian installed, I removed an entry related to Peerguardian from LaunchDaemons and/or Startup Items and/or PreferencePanes under Library, instructions below:
    - Finder > Devices > (Username) > Hard Drive > Library folder
    - Go to each of the folders "LaunchDaemons", "StartupItems", and "PreferencePanes", expand each folder using arrow to the left of folders
    - look for unusual application titles (in my case it was *peerguardian*)
    - dual finger click on line item, menu will appear.
    - select "Move to Trash"
    - reboot Mac
    Hope this helps.

  • Safari browser not loading web pages

    Hi All!
I am currently on a 2 GHz intel core 2 Duo Imac and currently running Safari Version 5.1.1. My issue is that as soon as I open safari and try and load any web page it just stalls after 10% of loading. The same happens with any page I attempt to visit. I know it's not an issue with WiFi due to the fact I am also running Chrome and it booted up just fine. I have also already cleared out all of the Cashe and reset Safari.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Any solutions out there?
Any help would be much appriciated!
    Best Regards,
    Sivil

First, please update your profile with your current Mac OS version. Then enable guest logins and log in as Guest. Launch Safari and test. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and disable it if you wish.

  • Safari does not load web pages completely

Since I loaded Leopard, Safari is not loading some of the webpages that I go to regularly. If I move my mouse over the page some of the text starts to show but not the webpage. When i use my scroll wheel on my mouse to look at the lower part of the page then the page is displayed properly. Safari has always worked well with 10.4 and now that I have 10.5 i'm running into some issues. Can someone please advise? Thanks

Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.

  • The fix for loading web pages-What works for me.

Ever since I went to Tiger I have had problems with Safari and any other browser while at work on my dsl connection. I knew it was not the connection because my G4 with 9.2.2 would work. At home on cable Tiger worked fine. What I found out is that the router/server combination my ip used were Sisco and for some reason Tiger does not work well with them. I asked a programmer familiar with linux to help me and he gave me some code to type into terminal and guess what it works great!... almost! Every time I start Safari I have to enter the code and all is fine. Here is the code
    sudo sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.rfc1323=0
See if it works for you and let me know. You will find terminal in Applications/Utilities just copy the code and paste if you want. I had problems before just getting web sites like ups.com to load or even google search pages to load.

Thanks for the tip... I don't have the problem, but others must!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account, or is system-wide. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Any application you run will behave as if you were running it for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.

  • Safari will not load web page

I run a network of 10 macs, all run OSX 10.4.11 using Safari 3.0.4 (523.12.2) Two of the macs (One: imac 2.4 Ghz intel with 3 gb ram; the second computer MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz, 2 gb ram) Cannot access one website by typing the name (www.visiondc.com) -- I can only access this by entering the IP address. The reset of the network does not have any issues accessing the website. The interesting point I cannot access the site using other web browsers (firefox, opera) unless I use the IP address.
    Can anyone help?

I have EXACTLY the same problem...I'm running Safari 3.0.4 Public Beta as well and this is driving me insane. It's completely inconsistent - some web sites are fine, while others are not. I have tested the same site from another PC (running Windows/IE) and it works fine so I know it's not my ISP.
I'm also trying to find out how I can downgrade Safari to the non-beta...please let me know if you know how.
There are also many hits on the web with this problem but no resolution...I'm still looking and will post an update when I find something.
So far the problem seems to be associates with the DNS lookup either timing out/not working etc.

  • Safari will not load web pages

    HI
I have had an IPad for 6 weeks or so and it has been working fine. However starting today when we select the safari icon I get a blank screen and the google box. Tapping on the google box brings up the keypad. After tapping any key the screen reverts to the main screen with all the icons on. Could it be my Wi Fi system or perhaps something to do with the somertime time change.

If the reset doesn't work, try these steps.
Tap Settings, then tap Safari on the left side. Then on the right side - tap clear history, clear cookies, clear cache. Clear all three. Reboot your iPad. Hold down on the sleep button at the top until the red slider appears and slide to power off. Then hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and the iPad will restart. Launch Safari and see if it works now.
If that doesn't help, try Resetting your network settings. Tap Settings, then tap General on the left side, then scroll down on the right side and tap Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings at the top. Reboot your iPad as described above. After restarting, Go to settings, then select WiFi, select your network name, enter your network password, launch Safari and see if this works.
