Safari 3.1 launches but no browser window

Hello there, I accidently updated my safari 3.0.4 to 3.1 during my last software update. When I launched Safari I only got the menubar but no browser window. I've read about 3.1 causing a lot of trouble that's why I never wanted to install it. So far, I've checked permissions, trashed Safari 3.1 and the safari31pkg and emptied cache. I've copied over a 3.0.4 version from another machine but that won't give me back my browser window. How can I fix this without losing all my usernames?
The machine involved is a G4/733 running 10.4.11 and latest security update.

Hi,
Go to these 2 locations to see if you have any 3rd party extensions and move anything present in them onto your Desktop to deactivate them:
Hard drive -> Users -> YourUsername -> Library -> InputManagers
Hard drive -> Library -> InputManagers
Restart Safari to pick up the change. If it works now, you can try moving the items back one by one until you find the culprit.
If that doesn't work, one quick test you can do to help narrow down things is to try Safari in another user account.
This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> \[+\] to create a test one (and \[-\] to remove it if needed)
