Safari 3 and mail 3 in Leopard
I try to send a link in safari and it can't send. It says unable to locate mail application. I have re-installed the new mail program, and it still won't send a link or contents of the page. Any possible solutions?
I went back to mail program and reselected the mail 3 as my default even though it was already showing as my default and it works now thanks for the thought

Mac freezing still in Safari, Acquistion and mail?!
I have for some time been having 'what i thought' was issues with Safari freezing and being unable to even force quit. I thought i had it solved thanks to replies on here - but it's still happening sometimes. So I began to contemplate that perhaps Safari wasn't the issue - because it's happening with other programs.
First of all I am now using Firefox - as it seems much more stable whatever I do or visit on the web - under my current circumstances. (it has yet to crash on me?) Safari seems fine everywhere I go - unless I turn on the password access auto fill-in (using Keychain) and then some sites seem to cause the safari freeze (as above)? So my issue be Keychain I thought?
However, It has also happened only once or twice when I used apple mail to access my google email account (again I think these setting stored via keychain?) - if it automatically logs in when you open mail. This doesn't concern me too much though as I am still in the habit of getting my email via the website direct! However it may aide in the problem solving....
The final piece of the issue, is that I keep trying to open and use acquisition - and again it rarely gets beyond the point of logging into the networks (sometimes it will log into the networks but won't get beyond the start of searching for something) - before the freezing happens and again I need to hard reset? Now I am pretty sure that this program doesn't use Keychain, so...?
I realise there are many variables - but the issues all revolve around internet access and possibly keychain access - but is not soley confined to Safari?
Finally, I have my done all the normal repairs/checks etc - the OS, Safari, firefox and acquisition are all upto date versions. I do also have Allume 'Internet cleanup' - which blocks traffic/pop-ups etc but although this is fairly upto date 3.0.2 (not latest version 4) - I have also tried accessing acquisition with this program disabled - but still freezes. So in conclusion I have removed this as a possible issue? (plus firefox works through it fine all the time?!)
So, now I am head scratching and looking for suggestions as what might be causing this issue?
Thanks for reading my lengthy problem!Hi,
I would probably completely uninstall Internet Cleanup (which is done via the Installer application) just to make sure none of the files it installs are somehow affecting the Mac. Sometimes disabled applications can still cause havoc.
Both Mail and Safari do indeed use the keychain for storing user/password information. Have you tried repairing the keychain from within Keychain Access? This can be done from the Keychain menu -> Keychain First Aid.
One quick test you can do to help narrow down things is to try these applications in another user account. This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to remove it if needed) -
Safari Browser and Mail App cannot be opened.
After I turn off my iPod Touch and start up again, Safari browser and my Mail App crashes every time I open it. I tried to reboot the device again, and it did not work. I'm going to have to restore, but my question is:
What are the reasons for this? This has never happen to me before.
Replies appreciated.Almost all the times things like that just happens and they seldom return. If i keeps recurring after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then you likely have a hardware problem.

Safari Crashes and Mail will not allow replies
Hello,
Everything has worked fine until last week... our editor's computer runs Mail for his email and Safari is his browser. He is currently unable to respond to emails. When clicking respond it just fails to respond. If you click new the program crashes. In Safari if there is a form that needs to be filled and submitted the program collapses as soon as you attempt to fill in a form field.
In the report from Safari (version 3.2.1) the exception is EXCBADACCESS and the code is KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE
I have repaired permissions and checked to make sure javascript is enabled. All software updates are current. His mail settings are as they should be. His web browser preferences are unchanged.
Maybe a month ago I installed google desktop on his computer but everything has worked well since then.
Can anyone give me some ideas of things to look at or try?
Thank youOK, I read the post from ratz and I found the safari plist and deleted it and then did work... I also deleted the plist thingy I found for Mail and that didn't work either. Below is the error report when Safari crashed. Thanks for your patience with me.

I try to send a link in safari and it can't send. It says unable to locate mail application. I have re-installed the new mail program, and it still won't send a link or contents of the page. Any possible solutions?
These are Mac OS X 10.5—rather than OS X 10.4—technologies, and an equivalent forum for them can be found here.

Safari Pages and Mail cannot be seen after awaking from sleep
If I leave Safari or Mail open, all of a sudden now when I come back and wake the computer from sleep, the programs are open, but the pages or mailboxes cannot be seen. New pages do not open. All that is seen is the menu bar, which seems to operate normally, but no inboxes or pages appear. I have to shut the computer down to get it to work again.
Any thoughts?More info:
It seems to be the screen going to sleep, not the computer. When I come back and touch the mouse or the keyboard, as the screen lights up, there is a flash of the web pages I left up, then they vanish.

Multiple accounts and Mail 3.5 (Leopard)
I've been trying to get Mail to get and send e-mail from multiple accounts using a single ISP (in this case, my Verizon DSL account). My older app, Eudora Pro, can easily do this (for both POP and IMAP), as it has a system called "Personalities," where you can setup a main personality (i.e., your primary ISP account), yet allow other personalities/accounts to use that ISP for the outgoing mail server. It seems that in Mail though, while getting incoming mail from multiple servers isn't the problem, sending mail from multiple accounts through one outgoing server (which requires what Eudora calls "relay SMTP authorization") is problematic. I've set up multiple accounts in Mail and can get incoming mail from them, but can't seem to send outgoing mail except from my main ISP account.
Any suggestions?I have the same problem - My kids each have their own email account within their own user profile, and while they can receive mail, they cannot send it. Sending from my (admin) account is fine, and their outbound accounts are set up identical to mine. I love having separate accounts because I can control how much time each of my kids get (6 of them!)and I get to supervise content on the web but this issue and itunes does not allow them to play back any DRM purchased itunes - acts like they are on a separate computer, not a separate user on the same machine - all itunes are in the shared folder...

IPhone 3G screen goes black in Safari, SMS and Mail (sensor not covered!)
This my second 3G iPhone. I took the last one in for the same issue.
I did not use the back-up in iTunes in case there was a corrupt preference issue.
I did upgrade/reinstall and there are still issues.
The screen goes black as if I have locked the phone with the on/off button.
To get back into the phone I have to hit the on/off button twice, slide the slider and continue where I left off.
This is not because I haven't touched the phone for a time. This is right in the middle of typing in SMS, email, password on a website. It seems to happen when i am interacting with a site using the keyboard but i might be wrong.
I am going to update to the firmware that came out today.I am having the same problem and have since I did the software update. I have the old iPhone is the only difference. It just goes black right in the middle of a text or surfing the web, even changing settings. I have also had a problem when done with a call and i go to hit end call but the screen never comes back to give me that option. I have had a few instances lately where someone calls and i slide the slider to pick it up and it just goes black but still vibrates and rings....its very very annoying.
Anyone know what is going on? -
Safari and Mail applications keep quiting
Hi
Wondered if anyone can help...
I have a 6 month old iMac 5,1.
Recently the safari application and mail application keep quitting without warning.
This isn't all the time but is becoming more frequent.
The system seems to be running slower some of the time as well.
I haven't added any major new software or peripherals but I have been downloading some movies lately... might this have something to do with it.
I have tech tool delux installed and have scanned (except surface scan as someone told me this doesn't need to be done..?) with all passing.
Any ideas?
Cheers
phil barnettI'm having the same issue on a 3 month old MBP/SR - with tiger. As soon as I upgraded to the public Safari 3, I started experiencing sudden quits in both Mail & Safari. I have repeatedly run the "repair permissions" and "verify disk", with no joy. When I got the little "tell apple" screen for safari quitting, it seemed as though the Flash plug-in was involved, although I'm having deciphering the string leading to the quit. I disabled all plug-ins and the problem went away for a day or two, but just resurfaced tonight. It's becoming more frequent (and more annoying). Our new imac is not doing this (yet). I can't seem to find any commonality to the program failures. If I save the string leading to the quit, could someone here actually translate it and give us an idea?

Safari and Mail won't open in Snow Leopard
Any else having this VERY frustrating problem of Safari and Mail not opening. I've installed Snow Leopard and downloaded and installed the 10.6.1 update. Then when I try to open Safari, it says, "You can't use this version of the application Safari with this version of Mac OS X. You have Safari 4.0.3." When I try to open Mail, it says the same thing. I downloaded Safari again, and it won't even install it saying, "Safari can't be installed on this disk. This update requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or newer." But I have 10.6.1.
Help. Anyone? Please?
ThanksHI,
Try launching Safari and Mail from the Applications folder. If it works, drag the Safari and Mail icons off the Dock. Just drag straight up. They'll go poof.
With Safari or Mail open, select the icon in the Dock/Keep in Dock.
If that doesn't help, locate these files.
com.apple.Mail.plist
com.appple.Safari/plist
Drag those files to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

We upgraded or computer from os x to Snow Leopard 10.6.3 now our icons for safari and mail won't open
Drag the icons from the Dock, go to the Applications folder and drag Safari and Mail (one at a time) to the Dock. Don't release the mouse button until the adjaxent icons move out of the way for the one you're adding.
That should compensate for the updates to Mail and Safari introduced with SL. -
10.5.1 broke Safari and Mail
After updating to 10.5.1 I can no longer open Safari or Mail. For both of them I just get the "The application quit unexpectedly" message shortly after launching. Also, that message randomly pops up for PubSub Agent. I read that PubSub deals with .Mac bookmark syncing. However, I don't use .Mac and never have. I don't have an account and never signed into it. All of this started right after updating to 10.5.1. Everything was working fine before then. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Corrupt systems, files, prefs, cache files...? lots of reasons that can cause problems.
Not repairing and backup before applying updates is another.
Applying an update may work, or just hide a problem until later.
Combo updates get more points, more reliable. I've heard no one wants to use Software Update's smaller delta updates during testing. And of course crafting a smaller update might be harder, which is why I've never used delta, or software update, always standalone updates.
That said, I started out reformatting and then imported my backed up home folder and no issues with Leopard other than lack of hardware support. -
Safari and Mail coordination problems?
While on a web page, if I click on "share" from the Safari toolbar and pick "email page", I NEVER get in Mail the page as I see it in Safari, since what I get in Mail is an almost empty page with a "blocked plug-in" message in the middle of a rectangular space...
The solution was going back to the much better Snow Leopard.
It has been a REAL UPGRADE, from windoz-like h*e*l*l* to mac-like paradise. -
I am trying to view MobileMe Mail using Safari 5.1.1 using Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I can view Contacts, iDisk, etc., but for whatever reason, cannot see Mail. The page displays the message "Loading Mail..." and then stops loading. When I use Firefox, I have no issues whatsoever. Anyone having a similar issue?
Go to Safari / Preferences then select the Privacy tab then click: Details
Type apple in the search field top right corner of the window, click Done.
Quit then relaunch Safari.
Try www.me.com
And try emptying the Safari cache. Either from the Safari menu bar or Command + Option + E
