Safari 3 cannot run scripts in new window

The problem that I am encountering is that Safari cannot seem to run scripts in a new window. Whenever I click on a link, nothing happens. This occurs on sites like http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/share.html?videoid=0824hd_ccben209 (when I am trying to view the videos) and http://music.aol.com/radioguide/ (Trying to play the stations).
I'm not sure if it's a JavaScript issue or something. I have enabled Java, JavaScript and plug-ins in the preferences pane. I also tried disabling the pop-up blocker but that didn't seem to work. It usually works fine in Firefox (though the nbcolympics site insisted that I didn't meet the browser requirements, when I clearly did.) Sorry I can't provide you guys with much info, I don't know much about web stuff.

When I tried downloading Dreamweaver CS6 onto my laptop, it took over 2 hrs to download, then it compressed it into a Zip file which I was never able to open.
Not sure why I am having so much trouble. We’ve had no issue loading onto our Windows 7 lab, however, we are not successful using the download on my work laptop.
We are going to try again, however, it this doesn’t work, perhaps I should try the trial download – and take it from there?

I can't download firefox. When I click on run, I get a window saying that the author is unknown. When I click on run in the new window, another window says the file is corrupt. What can I do about this?

I want to have firefox as my default browser. As this is a new laptop, I hasve to download firefox. As per the instructions, I click on "run" to complete the download, but instead of completing the download, a window appears which says that the author is unknown. If I ignore the window and click on run, I get another window which says the file is corrupt and I can't finish the download and have firefox as my browser.
I have windows 7 and explorer is the default browser and I want to change to firefox, but so far am being prevented from doing so. How can I successfully download firefox?

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Safari takes forever to open a new window

Since updating to the newest version of Safari, whenever I try to open a new window, it takes about 40 seconds to do this, every time. Clicking on a link in an already open page opens much quicker, so how can this be happening since a new window doesn't have content or tries to connect to anything?

That depends on your setting in Safari menu > Preferences > General tab. The second pop-up menu is "New windows open with". If that's set to Empty Page or Bookmarks, it should open a new window instantly. If it's set to something else, then speed is dependent on how quickly that page loads.

Cannot RUN Illustrator CC in windows 8 (x64)

I have install adobe illustrator before in my windows 8 (x64)
it run well and no problem at all
due to some reasons i uninstall all adobe softwares last 2 days
and install back the illustrator too
but currently it cannot run in my windows
after the illustrator's splash screen, the whole screen turning white and seems in running mode...
yet the software didnt show up at all... but just freeze in the white screen
other adobe series software work well in my windows.. just this illustrator
please help... i really need to use illustrator for these days for my assignments

Safari 8 - tab opens as a new window all of the sudden

So I'm using Safari 8.0.2 on Yosemite. I came across a bug (or is it a new feature?):
When I have a page opened as a new tab, sometimes, all of the sudden, this tab detaches from the main Safari window to become a new window. This happens as I move my mouse and read but I don't click on anything. I don't touch the keyboard either. it seems it just happens by itself randomly.
Anyone has experienced the same issue? I find this pretty annoying.
When it happens I would like to move this new window back as a tab of my main Safari window. I generally don't want to have multiple windows opened with Safari. I prefer to open links in multiple tabs.
I hope someone has a solution to this issue.

What you describe happens when you drag a tab out of the tab bar. Are you sure that's not what you're doing? Is the trackpad otherwise behaving normally? Are any other pointing devices connected, such as a tablet, either via USB or Bluetooth?

Cannot open folders in NEW WINDOW

Is anyone else having trouble with the Finder not opening folders in a new window? I have gone to Finder preferences, and unchecked the box for "Open Folders in a new tab..." But I still cannot open my folders in a new window. I have thousands of folders, and some are set to open in icon view, some in list view, etc. depending on the contents. But now all that has disappeared. Any suggestions???

As others have said.....first, go to Finder > Preferences and make sure the checkbox is deselected for "open folders in tabs instead of new windows".
Any folder can be opened in a new window by holding down the Command Key while double-clicking the folder. But sooner or later you will forget to hold down that key, and then a folder will open in a tab (which will probably resize the window and cause much aggravation and cursing).
If you're like me and don't like tabs very much, there is a way to make folders always open in windows with a simple double-click. (I'm using Mavericks 10.9.5). Go to any folder on the Desktop, open it, and select View > Hide Toolbar. After that, all folders within that folder will open in a new window. I tried this with the Macintosh HD Folder (which I put on my Desktop) and all folders within it open in new windows with only a double-click.
Of course, you will lose the sidebar and the toolbar, so it's not a perfect solution, but at least you'll be done with tabs.

Safari Right Click Dock Menu Open New Window

I have just recently found an issue with safari that I hope someone can provide some insight to. I can only open new safari windows if I go thru the top menu bar. I used to be able to right click on the safari dock icon and click "New Window" and I would get a new window opened up to my default homepage. Now when I click it nothing happens.
I have noticed that it is only on my profile as it does not happen on my wife's profile. I forgot to mention that it is OS X 10.5.2 Leopard
I have not loaded anything on the machine other than Apple Updates but it was happening before the updates to 10.5.2. I have tried modifing the pref options but no change.
Any ideas?

Reinstall Safari. Here's how to do it:
First, move your existing Safari.app to the trash. Next, insert the Leopard Installer DVD. Double Click on the "Optional Installs". Then double click on the Optional Installs.mpkg file. Once open, the Installer will lead you through a few steps. After selecting your HD, the next panel is where you'll find Safari (in the Applications folder. Check the box, then continue.
After Safari is installed, go to your Applications>Utilities folder. There, open Disk Utility. When open, select your HD on the left, then "repair permissions".

External links to sub projects cannot be displayed in new window

I think you may be mistaken on this. Moments ago I tested to be certain. I have a CHM that successfully opens another CHM.
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

Terminal runs process w/new window

Yep I was messing around and somehow Terminal now runs this process when a new window opens.

I need for this thing to stop and give me the delightful regular Terminal window again.

Deleting Terminal's preferences file should make it stop.
Otherwise, you might look at Terminal's "Preferences" setting. Make sure "When creating a new Terminal window:" is set to the top choice: "Execute the default login shell using /usr/bin/login".

After updating to automatic firefox 10.0 I cannot use open in new window. Why ?

Tried to "open link in new window" on several sites after automatically updating to 10.0 . Windows links will not open in new window.

You may need to delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing the latest Firefox.<br />
In case you still have problems after installing then check your security software.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Suddenly today I cannot open message in new window, tabs ONLY

I normally open email in separate window with double click. Today it will not open. Context menu item "Open message in New Window" also does nothing. Only way I can get message open is Context menu item "Open message in New Tab." Version 24.6.0 Windows 7(64 bit).

set Thunderbird to use tabs,,,, then change it back to a windows. I have seen occasions when the setting to user interface shows does not reflect the true state of affairs. Like it need to be reset to get the message.
Your could try restarting from the help menu with addons disabled. See if it is one of them causing issues. (quite possible)

HP Split X2 upgraded from Windows 8 pre-loaded to Win 8.1, now cannot run Add feature to Windows 8.1

i have purchased a HP Split X2 13.3" laptop in a computer show slightly more than 1 year ago.
it comes with Windows 8 pre-loaded at that time.
Later on, Microsoft offer free upgrade for all Win 8 to Win 8.1 and i did that as well.
Everything goes perfectly smooth unless recently when i try to go Control Panel run Add Feature to Windows 8.1,
it ask me for product key!!
When i looked the bottom of my Split X2 laptop, it does not have the sticker of the Windows product key. There is only 1 Windows 8 hologen sticker! Hence, i use some key finder application to detect the product key.
I enter the product key when i run Add Feature to Win 8.1 again, but the Windows prompted me key is not valid.
Why?
The Win8.1 insalled is genuine version. I can perform regular Windows updates without issue.
Appreciate if any expert can help to resolve my issue.

It requires you to purchase particular Product key with regard to Add Features option.

Safari 5 cannot run on windows XP pro

I am a bit confused about this problem. Reading some topics I saw that solution for my problem could be to delete or move "safari" folder from C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Apple Computer. But this doesn't work for me. Also I tried to create a new user account. Log of as me and log in as new user. Then safari runs normally. Then I log of and log back in as normal(usual) user and safari runs normally too, but when I delete just created user account and restart windows, safari is dead again. Further, when I log in as new user and try to start safari then, it wouldn't run. Then log of as new user and log in as usual user then starts normally. Is there a solution for constantly log in/out?

I've tried it on Win XP SP3 and Win XP SP2 and it works fine.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
