I was happy to hear that came today with Safari for windows because I use it all the time on my MacBook Pro, so for me it was a happy smile on my face today.

You can't go to icloud.com on an iOS device like your iPad. You can only view your data on icloud.com from a computer. This is because you can already view all your iCloud data on your iOS device from within your apps (contacts in the contacts app, calendars in the calendar app, email in the mail app, etc.).

That depends on your specific work flow strategy. I normally perform the processing in two stages if editing is involved or in a single stage if I don't plan to trim, title, add a narration track, add special effects, and/or add filters to the Snapz Pro X captured screen data.
In the two-stage process you export the captured data to an intermediate low-compression, high-quality fomat. (This can be the default settings for Snaps Pro X or a more modern editing specific format like ProRes 422/Linear PCM depending on the codec components for which your system is configured and your personal editing preferences.) The Snapz Pro X intermediate file is then edited in the application of your choice and the results are re-compressed to your final target compression format.
In any case, whether you are re-compressing the data using QT 7 Pro, iMovie, GarageBand, MPEG Streamclip, Snapz Pro X, or similar third-party app that accesses the built-in OS X QT routines, the export process is essentially the same. Whether you use a "Movie to MPEG-4" or "Movie to QT Movie" export, you must export to a data rate limited, multi-pass H.264/AAC compression combination to take advantage of the "Optimize of CD/DVD" option. Specific data rate limits depend on the playback dimensions of the file you are creating, the minimum level of quality you will accept, and the playback speed of the hardware to be used. (I normally target 4X-8X settings for SD content but if you know the recipient has a higher rated optical drive and your content is HD, then you can use higher encode settings for improved quality.)
I captured the slideshow again in Snapz, and saved it as H264/AAC. Is this good enough?
If you did not specifically use the "Optimize for..." feature, then the file is automatically targeted for "Computer" playback which assumes playback is from an hard drive which has greater bandwidth/faster throughput than an optical media player. If the target display dimensions are resonably small, the the contextual nature of the H.264 video encoder may or may not be within the playback limitations of an optical drive usually depending on the encode matrix dimensions, graphic complexity of the source data, overall brightness of the scenes, and limitations you may have place on the target file—i.e., the larger the encoding dimensions, the faster the data date and the less likely the file will be compatible with optical drive playback without having to constantly interrupt playback to cache/rebuffer additional data. However, you can always tell the recipient that if this happens, he or she should simply copy the movie file from the CD/DVD to their hard drive for playback.
What now? Do I open it in Quicktime and use the "share for mac and pc", then right-click on it in the finder and "burn to disc?"
What you do next depends on how you plan to burn the file. The steps explained above allows you to create a file that is compatible with playback from an optical drive in a QT Player app but is not authored for playback from a commercial DVD Player. Your next step is to burn that file to an optical disc that can be read by your recipient's computer. I my case, I normally burn the disc using a hybrid (HFS Plus/ISO 9660) format which supports HFS Plus, ISO-9660, Rock Ridge, and Joliet with Rock Ridge file systems. How you do this is up to you. You can, for instance, use a third-party app like Toast or Dragon Burn to create a data disc; create/burn an image file with your Disk Utility app (this is a good option if you plan to burn several discs now and/or in the future); create a named "Burn" folder, drop the file to it, and press the burn button; or simply insert a blank optical media disc into you optical drive, change the default disc name to whatever you want, drop your file to the blank media's Finder window, and press the "Burn" button. (NOTE: Burn options may differ depending on the software installed on your system and/or the version of OS X under which you may be operating.)
Dont see any specs re playback from an optical disc drive? The slideshow is only 3 min long, and I want to avoid turning it into a video DVD using iDVD, iMovie etc, as the quality of the pictures and type degrades badly. Thanks for the help. Been struggling with this for weeks.
As noted above, this is an encode setting that only becomes active when you are targeting your H.264/AAC encode for multi-pass/data rate limited compression. When active, the "Optimize for..." pop-up allows you to select "computer" (targets playback from a hard drive), "CD/DVD" (targets playback from optical media), or "Streaming" (targets playback from a realtime streaming server) options. This option prevents data rate excursions from exceeding limits normally associated with each of the named types of playback. This option has nothing to do with the file system used to burn the media disc which determines which platforms/OS can read the disc and the file it contains. -
My iPod touch 4th gen. Keeps giving me the error message "cannot connect to the app store when I sign in. I can open the app store and browse it but I can't download anything. I have full signal strength with my wi-fi and safari is working perfect. I turned it off and restarted it 3 times now. I have an iPad 2 and the app store works flawlessly with it. What is going on?
Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store. Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.

Radeon HD 5770 graphics card works perfectly with my MAC Pro 1,1 and Adobe CS6. However, I upgraded to Adobe CC and Photoshop CC disabled some filters and 3D functionality. The preference panel for Performance/Graphics Card in Photoshop CC is greyed out and inaccessible and shows this message -
"Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry."
I still have Photoshop CS6 installed and it still works perfectly. Anyone else with this issue? Is there a driver update for this compatable with my setup?

I have set hyperlinks within my ibook author document, they work perfectly until i export and view on the ipad, when only one or none work, (hyperlinks to website not working at all) what am i doing wrong?
An external hyperlink should handoff to Safari and leave iBooks.
If that's not happening, perhaps there is something misconfigured on your iPad? Have you manually confirmed those links work in Safari on your iPad? -
Is anyone else having an issue with Muse 2014.2 Freezing/Crashing at launch? It worked perfectly up until tonight and nothing has changed on my computer. I'm running windows 8.1. I've tried logging in and out of CC, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Muse twice with no change. Please advise. Thanks!

Could you please help me quick, my iPad is restricting me from something.
I tried to go on YouTube many times on my favorite videos list and I get a message saying: you don't have permission to access the requested resource. I go to settings to see if anybody restricted me from YouTube and nobody did. I went to my friend's house and they have wifi. My iPad worked perfectly in YouTube. I went back to use my dad's iPad and after I watched some videos for a while, his stopped working on YouTube too. After then, I went back to my mom's house and the same thing happened. TO BOTH MY IPAD AND MY DAD'S! Is there something wrong with them? Please reply soon! :)I have the same issue. When I select a video from my favorites list (this is in the YouTube app—not through the Safari browser), I get the error message "You do not have permission to access the requested resource." My sister has said she has gotten the same message on her iPhone 3GS.
The work around is to kill the YouTube process (double press the home key to bring up the recent apps list, press and hold on the YouTube icon until the red minus sign appears, then tap on the minus sign). When you restart YouTube, it works.
However, invariably, the next day, when I try again, I get the same message, and have to kill YouTube again. -
I have problem with my iPhone 5s mic,iOS 8.1.3
the front mic works perfect in viber calls or voice memo in every position I put the phone on my ear, but in regural calls my voice is to low and muffled. my friend on the other side always tell me to speak louder. When i put the phone in front of me it works fine but when i put it on my ear the mic is faulty And i have to speak loud.It dosent have to be anything with the hardware, what should i do?? I tried to disable the noise cancelation but it dosent changed any thing,plz help me, i cant afford returning the phone, what is wrong with my over priced phone, i had iphone 5 and it was perfect, but this one has a big issue,i tried restarting the phone, is reseting to factory setting may helps. I set my iPad to do the latest iOS update as per usual - over the air and while on charge. When I returned to it, it was non functional the screen was blank. I reset multiple times and at one point got a red screen. I connected it to iTunes on my Mac and tried to force a restore, but this didn't work - even in DFU mode. I have gotten a 4013 error every time. I've tried different cables and different USB ports etc, but no success. It's a brick.
I have multiple Macs around the house and have tried all of them - all with the same results alas. I've restarted, ensured iTunes is up to date etc too.
On DFU mode - yes - that's it. I have no idea what DFU stands for, but it this mode is often referred to as this. I get the 'connect to iTunes' picture and can begin the restore, but the process times out waiting for the iPad. Apparently, 4013 is associated with a cable problem,, but I know the hardware is all fine.
What I want to avoid is just being told to buy another iPad. That would be totally unacceptable for an error caused by an update to a 16 month old device. There has to be some solution! -
Earphone buttons not working on iphone but work perfectly well on mac
Hi,
As of a couple of days the buttons on the earphones that came along with my iphone have stopped working with the phone. That is, I cant raise or lower the volume using the buttons when I listen to music, nor can I play/pause songs or answer calls using the button in the middle. The sound from the earphones works perfectly well (that is, I can listen to music), and so does the mic (I can talk to people using the earphones).
Just now though, I used the earphones with my macbook and the buttons suddenly work. So is the fault with my phone? Is there anything I can do?Hear, hear!
That earphone jack attracts more lint that a bellybutton. I just cleaned mine out (the earphone jack) and remote functionality returned like a dream! -
Trying to format a new USB flash drive so it will work on both a Mac and PC
I have a brand new Sandisk USB flash drive that I am trying to copy movie files onto from my Mac's hard drive. For some reason I can copy one of the movie files but not the other, even though they are both Quicktime (.mov) files. In doing some research, it seems the one file will not copy/paste likely because it is over 4 GB in size and the FAT32 filing system on the USB drive prevents files in excess of this size to be copied and pasted.
My question to anyone who can help me is: How can I get files over 4 GB onto and off of this USB drive AND be able to use it for both Mac and PC computers?

ShaunIf I format the USB stick on my Mac as exFAT, will my client who´s most likely using a PC be able to screen it tomorrow morning...??
exFAT would only be an issue if they were running a version of Windows older than XP. If it is XP, they would need to install the free exFAT update before being able to access the drive. -

If that didn't work then remove that name and password in the Password Manager and Firefox should offer to save the new password on the next visit or after reloading the log in page.<br />
If you have problems with remembering a new password then make sure that you remove all entries from that server (look for an empty name as well) and also check the exceptions to make sure that the site is not listed there.

want to be able to also backup my kids laptops (vista) on my bootable mac external
when i checked formats on my external my win xp partition done through boot camp says NTfilesystem
when i go to format in disk utility it gives ms-dos format option
i just want to make sure i can keep my bootable mac partition and be able to back up kids computers (vista) to a partition in ms-dos format
id rather not do it through win xp ( bootcamp) if i dont have to
id like to just plug in kids comps and do what i have to do
i only use xp for games on my mac

it just makes better sense there so cheap now and after the problems ive recently had i dont want to play around at all with my mac clone drive

Getting help to work in Windows 98, XP, AND Vista
I am having trouble with getting my help system to be
compatible with all three operating systems: Windows 98, XP, and
Vista.
It is a VERY SIMPLE help system, with no fancy DHTML stuff,
etc. But, the default generated CHM file works fine under XP and
Vista, but under Windows 98, won't allow any topics to be choisen
from the TOC (although the initial help window and initial topic
display fine).
With Pete Lees' much appreciated help, we tried a CHM file
with all scripting stripped from the files (since it really isn't
necessary) -- the now revised CHM file works fine in Windows 98 and
XP, but has a weird behavior in Vista: The help files display ok in
Vista, except that in the search tab it goes ‘bong’
every time a topic is selected. So if I type in, say,
‘Link’ into the ‘type in the keyword to
find’ field and press ‘list topics’, then when I
down arrow through the topics (or click them individually) it bongs
for each one.
The ‘bong’ sound is the same sound it makes
normally if you type ‘Link’ into the ‘type in the
keyword to find’ field and press ENTER. It sounds as if there
were a hidden error message box.
I would have thought (silly naive me) that since the RoboHelp
help *says* the Microsoft HTML Help generated by RH works in
Windows 98 and later, that I wouldn't have had to do anything to
make it work under Windows 98.
BTW, the client tried all the initial suggestions from Pete
re. updating W98 help viewer files, registering DLLs, etc., and
none of those seemed to have any effect.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try next??It's just that they want their app to be backwardly
compatible, as all well-behaved apps are. Obviously, the majority
of their customers will be using XP or Vista, but they don't want
to shut out the "late adopters" out there. -
Have lost ability to open Boot Camp on start or restart. Icon does not show up. Had been working for 2 years, then nothing. Recently had problems with Kodak Easy Share in PC partition. Any connection? Any hope of reopening Boogt Camp without losing data already there?
Can you see there is a partition?
Can you boot Windows 7 DVD?
Did you think you would never need a backup image?
So no Safe Boot, no F8, possible?

Paragon CampTune is a commercial product that is designed expressly for this task. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/camptune/ It consists of a downloadable ISO that needs to be burned to a disc and booted from in order to resize the partitions. During testing it was available free, but now costs US$19.95. MR user Rodus reports that it damaged their OS X partiton and a reinstall was required, so heed the warning and have a backup.

From the makes of CampTune is a commercial tool that is similar in functionality to GParted Live, but has a more polished/friendly user interface than GParted Live. Securing Dual-System Configuration
Imaging is still the most affordable and robust way to secure computer data. Unfortunately Mac OS X backs up only HFS+ volumes, leaving Windows with dual-system configurations unsecured. You can permanently lose all of your data unless you have a Windows-compatible backup solution.
Paragon’s CampTune and Paragon’s Drive Copy for Mac can secure the entire dual-system configuration. CampTune creates traditional images of volumes or entire hard disks, Drive Copy can copy them to other disks. In case of an emergency, you can restore the previously created image or copy all your data back to its original state.
Winclone/Disk Utility
Winclone is a free tool for creating and restoring backup images of your Windows partition. One of its key features is that it can restore to a larger partition than the one the image was created from.
NOTE: Winclone has been discontinued, but for now remains available and capable of completing these tasks (including creating and restoring Windows 7 images).

Disk Utility can resize HFS+ (Mac OS) partitions, but is currently incapable of resizing NTFS partitions, so you could use it to reduce the size of the HFS+ partition and create a new larger placeholder MS-DOS (FAT) partition
The full process would be:
Backup Windows partition with Winclone.
(if the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one make sure you set the preferences in Winclone to save the image as an uncompressed dmg)
Delete old Windows partition
Resize current Mac Partition
Create new Windows partition as MS-DOS (FAT) in free space after Mac OS partition.
(If the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one an additional step is required: shrink the filesystem on the image by selecting Tools->Shrink Windows (NTFS) Filesystem)
Reboot your computer for the new Windows partition to mount properly (winclone may not restore if you don't reboot)
Restore Winclone partition over new Windows partition
An alternate Winclone based process is described in the External Guides section
