Safari 4.0.3 Totally Broken With Sno Leo or I Can't Reinstall Safari Blues

Sno Leo 10.6.1 has busted Safari 4.0.3 and it cannot be reinstalled with Sno Leo running. What the h'ay?
It's all because Mercury is in retrograde and it won't let up until October.
Sometimes you just gotta ask yourself if it's all worth the trouble.
Bad Sno Leo. Bad.

It has been done...... twice.
I like to do the easy stuff first, before I start whining.
I've troubleshot Mac's and the Mac OS since '84. So I know sometimes you have to get Apple's attention. There is a problem with Snow Leopard that needs to be addressed.
Bang the drum slowly and be careful of what you don't know.
Cheers.

Safari should be downloadable from apple web site -

Also, you could re-install the OS, as it is part of the OS.

  • How can I reinstall Safari 8.0 without disturbing anything else?

How can I reinstall Safari 8.0 without disturbing anything else?  I have OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite & Safari 8.0 (that comes in it) installed on a MacBook Pro laptop and a Mac Mini tabletop computer. I want to access internet banking which goes without problems on the laptop but does not work on the tabletop. The latter says "somebody tried to display the application in a frame..." whatever that means and obviously for safety reasons I can not start banking it always comes back to the screen with this warning. I tried Mozilla FireFox on the tabletop Mini and everything works fine including the banking. A Mac expert suggested something is wrong with the Safari settings and I should reinstall it. How do I do this without reinstalling the System? Would it suffice to wipe out the Safari Preferences and start anew? I am looking for somebody's advice more experienced than I am. Thanks!
    Andy

    Hello isza41,
Before you try to do any uninstall/install stuff let me suggest you something:
Create a new user and check if the same happens within its account. You could do so by going trough the following steps:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
Click the lock icon to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password.
Click Add below the list of users.
Click the New Account pop-up menu, then choose a type of user. - Standard user account would be perfect here.
Enter a full name for the new user. An account name is generated automatically. To use a different account name, enter it now—you can’t change it later.
Enter a password for the user, then enter it again to verify. Using a password hint is recommended to help the user remember his or her password.
    Click Create User.
Now Logout from your account (⌘⇧Q) and Login to the one you have just created. This account is fresh without any changed settings(as a new instance would look like).
Check if the same would happen and you would see if this is an issue with your installation or something more general.

  • My Safari keeps crashing and coming up with an error that says CrystalDVDto.png caused Safari to quit unexpectedly.  Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

My safari just started crashing and coming up with an error that says CrystalDVDTo.png forced Safari to quit unexpectedly. I am not sure what to do or even what this is.  I have done various searches for this plug-in but cannot come up with much.  I went to Help>Installed Plug-ins and nothing appeared.  What can I do?

You’ve been infected with the “Flashback” malware. See this Apple support document:
    About Flashback malware
Back up all data, if you haven't already done so.
Select  ▹ Software Update to install the latest Java update, as well as any other updates available for your system. That should clear the infection.
Change every Internet password you have, starting with banking passwords. Check all financial accounts for unauthorized transactions. Take this step only after you’ve secured your system in the preceding step, not before.

  • How can I reinstall safari without losing bookmarks

I need to reinstall my Safari and preserve all my Bookmarks.
For a previous problem, i have to reinstall my MacOS and safari now does not work. So i want to reinstall it, but I'm not sure if I'm going to lose my previous bookmarks that I had in my latest Safari.
    Any help is welcome.
    THANK YOU!!

    Hi Julian,
About 15 minutes ago I reinstalled Safari and all my bookmarks remained intact... here's what I did...
I had a problem with Safari not opening after Security Update 2005-007. I used a program called Pacifist to get a file called Safari.pkg from my Tiger install disc.
    The file lives in:
    Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Packages/Safari.pkg
Open the pkg with Pacifist and drop the Safari.app file into your Applications folder.
That's it - my bookmarks all remained intact - hope yours do!
FYI - Safari bookmarks are stored in your 'user' home folder in Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist so you might want to make a copy of that and keep it safe.
If you install a browser called Shiira you can also import your Safari bookmarks into that. I managed to do that while my Safari was broken.
Good luck. I accept no responsibility for lost bookmarks etc. ;O)
    Regards,
    Dan

  • How can I reinstall Safari?  The current version core dumps.

For some reason, I can not run Safari.  If I can't access the web, how can I re-install Safari?

Safari is now a part of OS X and can't be downloaded from Apple. Each older version of OS X has a different version.
The only way to install Safari is with an OS X install.

  • TS3230 I accidentally deleted part of safari. Now I can't update podcasts. Can I reinstall safari?

Is there a way of reinstalling safari?
I don't want the current version which costs $29.
I want an older version for free

    Hi..
Going by your profile v10.5.8, you need to install this version > Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard
Safari comes pre installed with the Mac OS X and can be reinstalled for free anytime.
Not sure where you are seeing the $29...

  • Can't reinstall Safari 4.1.1

I am running OS 10.4.11 - I recently updated Safari to 4.1.1 but Safari wouldn't work. I trashed it so I could try to reinstall it but my computer tells me I already have that version running. I installed Firefox just to have a browser but I would like to go back to Safari. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Welcome. Archive and Install is not a big deal. It's not like reformatting the drive and starting from scratch.
    This a G5 PowerPC??
One thing you might try is installing the v10.4.11 Combo Update for PowerPC
Also, open System Preferences/Software Update then select the Update Software tab.
Make sure you have the: Security Update 2--0-005 (PowerPC) installed.
Then try downloading and install Safari.

  • How can I reinstall Safari - without having to reinstall the entire Mac OS X?

    Hi
Is there a way to reinstall Safari - without having to reinstall entire Mac OS X?

    Hi
Yes - just download the appropriate version from http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ & install it - that should replace the Safari application &  the accompanying software frameworks inside System/Library/, as well as one or two other items.

    Hi robsterc,
Now, is it just me or does EVERY SINGLE update to OS X cause a problem with Sarafi - I can remember Safari having issues with at least the last 3 updates.
Usually this happens when you have 3rd party extensions installed that are not compatible with the latest versions of Safari.
Can you post the crash report text here and hopefully that will give us a clue where the root of the problem is. You can obtain the crash report text by clicking the (Report...) button in the Unexpectedly Quit window and then copying and pasting the text here.

  • Safari froze and then can't reinstall Safari 3.1.2

As seen in other posts, my Safari program would not open yesterday. It would freeze before opening a window and then crash. It seems others have had this problem and I followed the advice that worked for them. I deleted com.apple.safari.plist I repaired permissions. I even repaired disk (no problems there). I then uninstalled Safari. Using IE, I downloaded Safari 3.1.2 but could not install because it said I needed to be running 10.5.2 or newer. I am running 10.5.5 (another scratch of head here). I then used Pacifist to extract Safari 3.0.4 from the installation disk. Installed Safari 3.0.4 and then tried to open it. It froze again. Any ideas on what I should try next?
    Thanks!

I am seeing this problem all over the discussions over the last few days, but no real solutions.
Last night, safari started freezing at startup before opening a window for me too. Nothing new was installed since it last worked.
I deleted safari, deleted the plist, and tried to reinstall 3.1.2. Of course, as with you, it told me that I needed 10.5.2 or later, when I have 10.5.5, and that it could not install.
Many users having the same problem around the same time, with no solutions at all.

  • Can I reinstall safari 5.1.2 over 5.1.3?

Safari 5.1.3 is a disaster. Ever since I upgraded a week ago I have had nothing but heartache, with multiple issues cropping up, all of them seemingling unfixable. As it turns out I have a backup of my system that has my previous, non-heartache version of Safari 5.1.2. My question is simple: Now that I've "upgraded" to Lion 10.7.3 and Safari 5.1.3, can I simply overwrite Safari 5.1.3 with the previous 5.1.2 version and get on with my life? Or will various changes throughout the system cause me more misery?
Otherwise, I may just roll my whole system back to last week's backup and get on with my life.
    Thanks for any help.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    As Guest, test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • How can I reinstall Safari

I recently updated my mini mac (late 2012) to Yosemite and somehow I seem to have deleted my safari so completely that when I try and log in -  a message comes up saying 'Safari can't find server' - any ideas on how I can reinstall my Safari. thanks

By deleting a portion of the address, apparently it could no longer be resolved into anything meaningful.
When you open Safari after closing the last window, quitting the program, or restarting your Mac, by default it opens the last web page you attempted to load. That may be the page with the misspelled address and something like this will appear:
Do you know what site you're attempting to access?
To change Safari's default search engine open Safari, select the Safari menu and select Preferences...
Then, select the Search tab. Click the dropdown menu adjacent to Search engine. I suggest you change it to DuckDuckGo.
