Safari 4.0.5 QTCF.dll

Hi,,
I will give you all information in this first post so it is easier
I have Safari 4.0.5 (531.22.7) And every time i open it up, after a few seconds it errors, 2 times, both with exactly the same text in error dialouge, one straight after the other. The exact text of the error box is:
This application failed to start because QTCF.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
And i have already tried this. doesnt work, i get the same error(s).
but after the 2 errors, safari does open.. but after roughly 5 mins,, it crashes.. and says Safari has stopped working, close program.. (it has took a few attempts to post this) -.-
My coumpter Specs are:
AMD Turion II X2 M500 2.2GHz
4GB Ram
Windows 7 Home premium
64-bit
ATI Radeon HD 4200
I have looked in control panel at the 'Review Problem Reports'
Safari has.... 48.
The summary on them all is Stopped Working
They all seem to be different Heres the 3 that are most occouring :

Unusual ... that's actually a QuickTime dll rather than a Safari or Apple Application Support dll.
It has started happeining on other applications.. Adobe now.
b noir wrote:
Is your QuickTime Player currently launching? If not, do you get the same error message when launching that, too?
I have just launched QuickTime several times, but no error? There is an update, version 7.6.7 Do you think upgrading will restore all dll's that are missing?
Edit: The DLL is not present in System32, nor C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\ or any of the subdirectories.

  • Safari and QTCF.dll - Not fatal but really annoying

Hello everyone. I have Safari + QuickTime + iTunes installed on my Windows 7 x64 box since a long time, but only recently I've found some problems...
Every time I open Safari (5.0.2) its only matter of seconds after an alert pops up saying that QTCF.dll isn't found and that it won't allow the execution of Safari. However, after I dismiss that popup, Safari continues working... Until about an hour or two later shows the same popup. It also happens if I close and reopen Safari.
As I've said, isn't fatal, but its really annoying having to close that popup every time.
I've found that file, and is on QuickTime folder. Moved it to both system32 and sysWOW64 and still shows that popup. Also I've read something about that dll where the answers were "reinstall QuickTime". Well... I've tried to uninstall it to install it again, but it throws me an error about some file that couldn't be removed (I think is that QTCF.dll file).
What do you think? DLL ****? Registry corruption? Thanks in advance
I also have a problem with Top Sites after doing a clean install of Safari 5. It always shows me the same sites, it doesn't change constantly (and those sites aren't pinned). Also, if I delete those sites from it, it won't add any new one. Any ideas?

Moved it to both system32 and sysWOW64 and still shows that popup.
Best to move it out of there. Having an old version in there tends to cause a different kind of startup error for iTunes and QuickTime (if the version of QuickTime proper on the PC is updated).
By any chance, have you ever had a version of QuickTime Lite or QuickTime Alternative installed on the PC? Last time I checked, they used to install a copy of QTCF.dll to the system32 directory (on 32-bit systems). Since they use the QuickTime registry entries, your Registry may currently be looking in the wrong place for the QTCF.dll.
Well... I've tried to uninstall it to install it again, but it throws me an error about some file that couldn't be removed (I think is that QTCF.dll file).
Could you try another uninstall and post back with the full filename and filepath of that file, please? (I'd like to see where your system thinks your QTCF.dll is installed just at the moment.)

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with a QuickTime program file there.
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "QuickTime" and then click "Repair".
Does the repair go through okay? If so, are you able to launch iTunes and/or Safari now?

  • Application has failed to start b/c qtcf, dll was not found

I recently had my computer serviced by the Geek squad for virus removal, I tried to use itunes and connect my ipod and I keep getting this message by: itunesHelper.exe- unable to locate component. "This application has failed to start because QTFC.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I have tried to install Itunes and quick time player, but the same error pops up and I can't close the tab. Any suggestions?

    QTCF.dll
Let's doublecheck on the current locations of that dll.
Go "Start > Search" and then do an all files and folders search on QTCF.dll. In "More advanced options", make sure the following items are all checked:
    *Search System folders*
    *Search hidden files and folders*
    *Search subfolders*
What QTCF.dll files do you find, and what are their file locations?

  • QTCF.DLL was not found

I have installed CS4 on a 32 bit WinXP machine so we can use Premier Pro.  I have used a customised set up and just installed Premier Pro for CS4 as we use CS5.5 for Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.  Install seems to proceed with out error but when I launch Premier Pro CS4 I get an error message twice - QTCF.DLL was not found - then Premier Pro launches.  I believe this is a  Quicktime error, but I have v 7.08 installed  and this seems to work fine independently of Premier Pro.
Has anyone come across this ?

    John T.,
I think that you are correct, unless one had a dual-boot configuration, as QT Player updates will overwrite the QT Player files, and also update the OS.
When having to roll-back QT Player, I have gotten the error "You already have a later version of QT Player installed," or similar syntax. In those instances, I just Uninstalled the later (faulting) version, then Installed the older (non-faulting) version.
Now, I wait until I see glowing reports on the Adobe Forums, before I update my QT Player, due to so many updates, that mucked up my Adobe programs.
Good luck to the OP, and glad that they finally got the post, where it belonged.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I installed iTunes, then quicktime.  After I installed quicktime, I began seeing this pop up everytime I opened iTunes.
iTunes works, this just appears everytime I open it.
I completely uninstalled every apple software on my laptop, then reinstalled everything.

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem as the OP.  To answer some questions:
I only have one copy of QTCF.dll.
It is in the correct place.
I have deleted it and repaired QT to replace it several times.
I have tried different versions of QT.
    Win 7 Pro 64
I ran SysInternals MS Process Monitor to see what was going on.  All programs which call this DLL were looking for it in their root directory, which suggested to me that the registry entry was either missing or corrupt, so...
I ran Regsvr32 on the dll and received the following Windows message:
"The module "qtcf.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllUnregisterServer was not found. Make sure that the "qtcf.dll" is a valid dll or OCX file and then try again"
    Now I'm out of ideas.
    Cheers,
    Tony

Every time I install itunes 10.4.1 64bit for Win 7, it says it is unable to find quicktime, then instructs me to uninstall itunes then install it again. I've done this several times but still have the same problem. There is also another promt that says quicktime can't find the entry point and there's an error having to do with QTCF.dll ... what is this and how can I get my iTunes to work? Help please!

hi guys i found the solution from a wizard of the community and it works, so u may try as follows:-
Correct Answer by b noir on Aug 24, 2011 8:13 PM
Let's try a standalone QuickTime.msi update. It may not install correctly either, but fingers crossed at least the error messages we get from that install may better indicate the nature of the trouble with the QuickTime install.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the QuickTime.msi to do a standalone QuickTime.msi install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes install properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • QTCF.dll

Itunes works fine. I keep getting this error message when opening quicktime.
    The procedure entry point
    CFUniCharGetNumberOfPlanesForUnicodePropertyData could not be
located in the dynamic link library QTCF.dll.
This message comes up 2x, so i hit ok 2x. Then i get the following message:
Quicktime failed to initialize. Error #-2093.
I have tried repeatedly to remove, restart, reinstall. I have even uninstalled all apple products from my computer. I do not have qtcf.dll in my windows/system or windows/system32 folders. It is in the quicktime/system folder (and un-removeable). When running repair it tells me that i have the latest versions and it is running properly. I've tried every find I've been able to find for the 2093 & qtcf (which aren't many).
Any ideas? I'll be going on some very long plane rides in the future and want my movies!

Now I know it's is not the Nero software as this worked fine and has not been updated.
My PC is running Vista 32bit Business Edition.
iTunes was updated to 9.0.2 and QuickTime to 7.6.4 and now I am having problems playing video files.
I have searched extensively and have not yet found a solution to this problem, some have suggested copying QTCF.dll to Windows/System32 but that did not work.
    Any advice would be appreciated

I also started getting a SQLite3.dll error about the same time as I installed the new iTunes.
I can't open the root directory with iPhone Explorer, even though I have a jailbroken phone. When I close the program, a msg is displayed "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process ID=0x978(2424), Thread ID=0x820(2080)" with option to debug.
FYI, both iTunes and IPhone explorer worked on my computer at work (32 bit windows) that appears to be running the same version of windows.
Lets try to at least get the SQLite3.dll error sorted, spot.
Try the technique basiam gives in the following post:

Not sure if that's going to help with the other issues though.

  • APrmr CS4 loosing lnks to media aftr installing QT plugin uninstlld getting errr now mssing QTCF.dll

Starting with Premier CS3 I when I installed QT player I would loose the links or association with the media my projects were linked to. The first time I figured out it was QT but did not understand why. At first I thought it was that update. Since I have tried two times and the same thing. Once I restored the system to a prior date Premier CS3 or CS4 worked fine and the linkage to the media was restored.
We recently tried it again with a new and improved QT after making some updates to Adobe Production premium and it did the same thing.
I then tried restoring the system as usually but now for the first time it is giving me the following error.
This application has failed to start becasue QTCF.dll was not found. Reinstalling applciaiton may fix this problem.
I get it when I start up Photoshop CS4 Extended also.
Is this referring to the QT player plug-in?
Any suggestions. If I have to update QT fine but how do I combat loosing the media linkage?

  • Error Message: "The program can't start because QTCF.dll is missing....."

Full error message: "The program can't start because QTCF.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I can't start iTunes because of this error. Any advice on what to do?

I have discovered the reason this occurs. It is because the PATH in the environment settings no longer has the path to C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem which is where the .dll lives on a Windows 7 computer. Close the application giving you this warning if it is still open and use the following 10-step process to fix this:
    1. Search for the path to the QTCF.dll and upon finding it, copy it (Highlight it in the explorer address bar and press CTRL + C.)
    2. Open the control panel.
    3. Choose System and Security from the left.
    4. Choose Advanced system settings from the left and a dialog window pops up with the Advanced tab selected.
    5. Click the Environmental Variables... button near the bottom of the dialog box.
(This opens a dialog box with 2 sections: User variables and System variables.)
    6. Scroll down through the  System variables section so that you can select (highlight) the Path variable in the left column.
    7. Click the Edit... button which opens a small dialog box and highlights the entire Variable value.
    8. Click once in the Variable value (to deselect the value so you don't mess it up) and then press the end key on your keyboard (to move your cursor to the last character of the very very long string in the text box).
    9. Paste (keyboard combination CTRL + V) the path to the QTCF.dll you copied earlier, and add a semi-colon, for example:
                         C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem;
(Note that you don't need a trailing / or the actual .dll name in the path, but be sure to add a semicolon to the end of the path name you paste.)
    10. Click OK on each of the 3 open dialog boxes.
There is no need to reboot your computer. You only need to restart the application and ensure that it starts without the warning that the .dll can not be found.

The procedure entry point QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyDataForPlane could not be located in the dynamic link library QTCF.dll
The most common cause of that one is a misplaced older version of the QTCF.dll lurking about in your system. On an x64 system, the best place to start looking is in the C:\Windows\sysWOW64\ directory.
Do you see a QTCF.dll lurking in there? If so, try dragging it out onto the desktop. Can you launch iTunes and QuickTime now?

I downloaded a qtcf.dll file from thei nternet and put on my desktop, in the Windows foldar, and also in the system32 folder.
Let's first remove those three files, tidus. Having a QTCF.dll lurking about in unorthodox places on the PC can actually cause errors.
I also get a startup error too related to ituneshelper.exe
That suggests you're getting a rare version of the QTCF.dll error caused by a damaged Apple Application Support. (If AAS is broken, sometimes iTuneshelper isn't able to launch either.)
Let's try the procedure I suggest to fizzylove in the following thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10918603#10918603
Does that help with the QTCF.dll?
